I didn't expect to have a chapter up so soon after the last one took like... three years? Yikes. I will hopefully be writing more frequently now, and hopefully the quality you've all praised me for (which I'm super thankful) hasn't diminished.
Kaneki leaned against the counter at the Scarlatina Café watching the few patrons who had come in. He ensured that he was easy to wave down if they needed him, but casual enough that they didn't think he was staring at them. Currently, there was what seemed to be a couple on a date sitting in a corner booth, a trio of friends who struggled to keep their laughter quiet, and an old man reading a newspaper; a regular, Kaneki had found out. Kaneki was not keen on having the news playing, but whenever the old man came in, VNN or Vox were usually on. He was only half way through his shift, so it surprised him when Marble came in. He walked over to greet her, but he sensed her quiet panic, and instead allowed her to come behind the counter.
"Hey, Marble, what's going on?" he asked, not hiding the concern in his voice. "I thought you weren't coming in today until four."
Marble smiled at him, although it appeared forced. She placed a hand on his shoulder and spoke in a low whisper. "Ken, I… I think we need to close up the shop for a while."
The half-ghoul raised an eyebrow. "You want to close early?" he asked, in an attempt to clarify. Marble simply shook her head and sighed.
"I mean for a few days or so," she said with a slight quiver in her voice. She looked over to those in the café, giving a small wave to her regular, before turning her attention back to her employee. "Ken, I… Do you remember Detective Adel? She stopped by a couple of weeks ago. She, um, well," she began, unable to find the words.
"What's going on?" asked Kaneki, already sensing the problem. Marble didn't speak, but suddenly pulled him into the walk-in refrigerator. Once inside, she nearly began to cry.
"Oh Gods, Ken," she wailed, trembling but not from the cold. "Three more Faunus have been killed. Libby called me this morning to warn me, but the killer on the news, they're still out there! Five dead, all Faunus!"
Kaneki remained silent, unable to look at Marble. She continued to hyperventilate as she tried to compose herself. Kaneki looked back out to the café, then back to Marble. "Business has been slower these days," he said quietly. "All of our customers have been humans these last few days…"
Marble looked incredulous, before forming a sad smile. "I don't care about the business, Kaneki. I don't want you or me to be the next one on the news, understand? The café, it's shutting down until this killer is caught. I will not risk your life or mine for the sake of a few Lien. Don't worry, I'll find a way to continue paying you."
"Wh-what? No, you don't have to do that," he answered quickly. He tried to find a way to tell her she was not in any danger, but couldn't figure out how to express it without causing suspicion. "Mrs. Scarlatina, you've done more than enough for me by giving me this job. Allow me to begin repaying that favor."
"What nonsense are you going on about?" she asked, confused. "You don't have to return any favors to me."
"Let me run the shop," he offered. "At least the night shifts. I've been keeping up with the news as best as I can, and I've noticed a pattern." Marble's mouth opened slightly, but said nothing. "You see, the victims, while all Faunus, were attacked when they were out at night. If you take the morning shift, you will be safe and at home before dark. Since I'm not a Faunus, I should be able to get home safely without any concern for being targeted. That way you can keep your store open, bake all the cakes for the day because I am awful at it, and get home without any concern for your life. I don't mind the late rush; I've always been a night-owl anyway. Velvet has made it clear to me how much this business means to you, so let's keep it open."
Marble stood silently, tears welling up in her eyes again. She replayed the offer in her head over and over until it finally sank in. Without warning, she hugged Kaneki, burying her head into his shoulder. "You're a godsend, Ken. I knew from the moment I saw you that you were special."
Kaneki awkwardly returned the embrace. He went to stroke her hair, but the rabbit ears deterred him, and he simply rubbed her back instead. Before the two broke the embrace, the refrigerator door opened. The two turned to see Velvet in her school uniform blinking at them with a bewildered expression.
"Ken? Mum? What are you… doing in here?" She remained at the door, before taking in the scene in front of her. "Wait… Mum, are you– Ken were you– Are you two…"
"What are you talking about, sweetheart?" asked Marble, oblivious to how it appeared.
Velvet turned red with embarrassment, before taking a step back. "I didn't know you two were seeing each other, uh, I'll knock the next time you two are in here," she said, covering her eyes.
"Wait, no, this isn't what it looks like," Kaneki called out, raising his hands up.
Velvet didn't seem to hear, as she continued on. "Can't you guys do this when you don't have customers?"
Marble finally realized what was going through her daughter's mind and began to laugh hysterically. The two teens looked to her, as she held her sides as she nearly fell over. "Oh dear, sweetie, no!" she cried. "Ken and I– oh Gods no! I'm not a cradle robber!"
Kaneki couldn't help but laugh at Velvet's expression and Marble's reaction. "I can explain what happened," he offered Velvet, seeing that Marble was unable to form complete sentences yet. The two headed back to the front of the store, where luckily, nobody seemed to have noticed their brief absence. He whispered to her the gist of the situation, leaving out Marble's initial plan to close down the shop and her panicky episode. Velvet seemed much more content and sighed a breath of relief.
"Oh, that's nice to hear," she said. "I love my mum to death, but I really don't know what I would have done if you two had become an item. The age gap alone would be strange to think about…" Her mind continued to wander, thinking of the worst case scenario. "Would that mean I'd have to call you 'dad' if you two got married? It'd be weird having a dad younger than me… wait, how old are you?"
"um, nineteen," he replied, unsure how to react to her line of thought. Pushing the strange conversation aside, he asked, "When did you get back?"
"Oh, I got back last night, but the last airship from Beacon had already left by then and Coco refused to let me walk to town… probably for the best, now that I think about it." She took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm sorry, I don't want to talk about all that stuff right now. How have you been, Ken? Have you remembered anything?"
Kaneki touched his chin and looked up in thought. "No, not really," he replied. He scratched his cheek a bit awkwardly. "I don't know if I want to anymore, if that would risk losing what I have now. This café, you and your mom, this community… it would be hard to imagine a life better than this."
Velvet's face turned a shade of pink and smiled shyly. "I– um, right, I wouldn't want to lose you either," she replied, before quickly adding. "You've been a huge help to my mum and have eased my concerns about her working too hard." The Faunus girl looked around the café, seeing it now empty, unsure where her mother had gone. Turning back to Kaneki, she wrapped her arms around him, and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Thank you, Ken, for everything. You're a great friend."
Kaneki smiled at her awkwardly as she broke the embrace. "Y-yeah, no problem," he replied awkwardly.
"I'm going to find my mum," she said, "I just remembered that I had something to tell her. I'll see you around, Ken."
"Are you sure that she's okay?" Weiss whispered to her team leader. "Yang has seemed… less Yang? I don't know how to explain it, but she's your sister, don't you see it?"
Ruby shrugged with a forced smile. "I mean, maybe she got a bad test score or something? If it was anything serious, she would tell us," she assured. "I don't think we should worry too much about it…" Despite her words, Ruby was also a bit concerned. Yang had never been so tightlipped about something like this before. What was more alarming was how much time she had been dedicating to training. She was always one to give her all when it came to combat, but she had been asking more and more other students for sparring matches. If she didn't know any better, Ruby would suspect that Yang was jealous of Pyrrha, but Yang had never been that way before.
"If you say so," Weiss replied, unconvinced. She sat on her bed with a leg crossed and took out her scroll. "Blake has been a bit more avoidant than usual too… As strange as it may sound coming from me, it feels weird not having Yang make bad jokes or Blake sassing me."
"I can try to talk to Yang about it and maybe you can talk to Blake," she offered. Weiss nodded, sitting up straighter. "Yang is probably off training somewhere, I'll ask Pyrrha if she's seen her. I'm not really sure where Blake would be; I checked the library earlier today, but she wasn't there."
"She wasn't? Drat," she exclaimed, unsure of where to go next. Undeterred, she opened the door of the dorm and left. Ruby sighed, and decided to leave as well, to search for her sister. As she walked down the halls of the dorms, Ruby began to wonder the reason Yang was keeping it to herself. The two would share everything, if not right away, at least within a few days.
Ruby soon found Yang in one of the combat arenas, leaned over and trying to catch her breath. When the older sister looked up to see her, she waved half-heartedly. "Hey Rubes, what's up?"
"I wanted to ask you something, is all," Ruby replied, not wanting to dance around the subject. Yang walked over to Ruby, before taking a seat on the edge of the arena, gesturing next to her for Ruby to join her. The young leader complied, and tried to smile at Yang, but concern filled her face. "Yang, is everything alright?
Yang didn't seem surprised, and answered almost too quickly. "Yeah, of course I am. Why do you say that?"
Ruby frowned at her and sighed. "Yang, you've been training non-stop for the last two weeks, and you haven't really been around outside of classes. You've never been like this before."
"Ruby, I've always wanted to be a strong fighter," she began to argue.
"Not like this! You've always been strong, but you're overdoing it. I thought you'd tell me what's wrong by now. I wanted to let you come forward when the time came, but even Weiss is worried about you. Is it about the killings that have been happening in Vale?"
Yang flinched when she mentioned the killings. For a moment she became silent, thinking of what to tell Ruby without actually telling her why. After taking a deep breath, she locked eyes with her sister. "Rubes… yes, it has to do with the killings. You saw how they affected Blake a few weeks back when it was just that bookstore owner, Tukson. I… I need to get stronger."
Ruby considered her next words carefully. Yang was definitely overprotective at times, but this was a bit out of character for her. Still, Ruby was convinced that her sister's heart was in the right place. "Then let us help you," she told her. "The whole point of being on teams is that we help each other and have each other's backs. I want to look into the killer too, but Professor Ozpin made it clear he didn't want any students looking into the affairs of the Vale Police Department in that speech earlier this week."
"Ruby, we shouldn't look into him, we just need to be prepared for him if we ever run into him. You don't know what he's capable of," Yang said, trying to keep her voice from wavering. She thought back to the masked freak and how easily he manhandled her. She couldn't land a single blow despite having dedicated her entire style to close-quarter fighting.
"...Yang?" Ruby started, not wanting to accuse her sister. "You make it sound like you've run into the killer before…" Immediately Yang's expression morphed into guilt. She opened her mouth to explain, but couldn't find her voice. Instead, she looked away, unable to meet her sister's eyes. "Have you? Yang, why didn't you say anything!? When?!"
"Do you remember when you 'found me' in front of the nightclub?"
Ruby nodded, and immediately formed an idea. "Wait, the guy you met at the club? Yang, are you protecting him because you like him?"
"What?! NO, of course not!" Yang nearly shouted back. She reached into her pocket and took out the piece of paper. "I saw him ask Junior about something, but when Junior saw his face, he immediately went into a panic. I stuck around to catch a glimpse of his face, but he was wearing a creepy mask. When he tried to leave, I attacked him," she admitted. "I knew he was dangerous, but I couldn't just stand by and let him get away… but I couldn't touch him. Everything I threw at him… he just weaved around and countered. Then he gave me this note…"
She gave Ruby the note, whose eyes widened as she read it. A shiver went down her spine. "We should tell somebody, Professor Ozpin, or Professor Goodwitch!"
"Then what?" asked Yang, uncharacteristically afraid. "We're Huntresses in training, we can't rely on adults when things get tough. That's why we need to get stronger! I have to protect you. The fact that he messaged you of all people with my scroll means he knows that we're close. What if he went through my photos and found one of us together? Or of the whole team? He knows what we look like, but we don't know who he is."
Ruby fell silent for a moment, confused by Yang's paradoxical mentality. She doesn't want to rely on their professors, yet didn't want to help them by giving them her eye witness report. She was training to become stronger, but doesn't want to come across the killer. This was not how she'd imagine her first year at Beacon, but here she was. She returned the note to Yang, and shook her head. "I...I don't know what to do," she admitted, but her face grew determined, "but I won't stand around doing nothing. If you think the best course of action is to train our butts off, then we should do it as a team. I'll tell Weiss and Blake to meet us here, but you have to tell them about this. They deserve to know too, Yang. We're one of the top teams of our year, I'm sure if we work together, that killer won't stand a chance."
Yang was speechless. Of course her sister would refuse to back down. It was a trait that Yang had always admired in her sister; unwavering determination to do the right thing. She put a hand on Ruby's shoulder and let out a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Rubes... I guess I've just been stuck in my head, but I think I've had enough training for today."
Ruby smiled at her, and took out her scroll. She sent a message to Weiss, letting her know that she had succeeded on her end.
Weiss sat across Blake shuffling through newspaper clippings and rewatching some news clips covering the story. She had found her in one of the study halls of all places, which surprised her. When Weiss had found her teammate, it became clear that there was a ton of research being done. Instead of stopping her, she offered to help in order to discuss why she was doing all this work. It didn't take long for Blake to come clean and admit she was afraid.
"You aren't alone, Blake," Weiss assured, placing aside some papers. "We won't let that freak near you."
"Weiss… these victims weren't just some random Faunus, they all had White Fang combat training like me, but it didn't seem to help them any. There've been five killings that we know of, but I know that the Fang themselves aren't behind it. They would never mutilate a deserter like that, it just makes it harder to recruit new members."
Weiss sighed. "Well the White Fang all wear masks when they're… doing whatever it is that they do, right?" she asked. Blake nodded, not looking away from her research. "Well, how would the killer know the identities of them unless they were getting information from the inside?"
Blake paused for a moment, and looked up to Weiss. Blake had bags under her eyes, not unlike the nights before the dance not too long ago. "I know… I've considered that already… I just don't want to believe it. The first few killings… They were uncharacteristically brutal, and the ones that followed have so little information available to the public, it's like the entire M.O. has changed, but I don't understand why. One thing that bothers me is that the two victims after him were both mutilated like the first… but they were active Fang members. They were reported to be wearing the uniform and mask."
Weiss's eyes widened. "I didn't think about that. That means that the killer isn't only targeting ex-members… but why have all the recent victims been deserters? You would think that there would be more active members targeted."
"I have come up with some ideas, but they're just ideas," Blake replied, rubbing her head. "The first few killings, where the victims were mutilated… I think they are the only real victims of the killer. The ones that followed might be a sloppy copycat killer. I mean, the differences are night and day…" Blake looked around to ensure nobody was listening in, and leaned in towards Weiss. "I've been talking to Velvet and Coco about it, and the first three victims had bite marks. Human bite marks. The 'Cannibal', which is what they're calling him, might not be the same person targeting the other victims."
"I see…" Weiss said quietly. She rubbed her temples and sighed. "Listen, Blake… I was going to try to talk you out of all this… but after seeing and hearing what you've put together… I'm with you, and I'm sure that Ruby and Yang would feel the same way. So let's pack this all up and take it to our dorm."
The two girls began to organize the various clues, when Weiss got a message from Ruby. It read, "Let's meet at the practice arenas." Weiss typed a quick reply and relayed the message to Blake.
Marble sat at a table near the counter as Kaneki began to shut down for the night. She had offered to help, but Kaneki insisted that she rest. Kaneki pushed a mop bucket to the front of the store and began to clean.
"Are you sure you don't want any help? I mean, this is my store after all, it's the least I can do."
"I'm sure, besides, you're off the clock right now," Kaneki replied, giving her a small smile. "You can just rest before we go home. I promised Velvet I'd walk you home, after all."
Marble laughed. "I know, that girl worries too much," she began, before remembering that Kaneki had witnessed her episode earlier. "Guess it must run in the family, huh?"
"I don't think that it's a bad thing."
"Sometimes letting your guard down can change your entire life, right Kaneki dear?" Rize said, whispering in his ear. Kaneki ignored her, and continued mopping.
"Say, Ken, where are you staying?" asked Marble, sitting up in the booth.
Kaneki was caught flat footed at the sudden inquiry. "Um, why?" he asked.
"Well if you live in the opposite direction, I'd feel awful if you were to have to walk me home only to turn around and walk back in the middle of the night. You might not be a Faunus, but you never know."
"I, um, live downtown," he replied, trying to be as vague as possible. The truth was that he was staying at the warehouse again. Despite the police presence a few weeks ago, when the killings began to spread into the city, they had no choice but to move their resources there. However, he was looking into finding a new place, given that he now had a fair amount of money from his 'contracts' with Torchwick. After killing Himizu, he had impressed Torchwick with his frightening and efficient methods. The next two hits were done just as discreetly, although the media was quick to connect the killings. "I'm actually in the process of finding a place a bit closer to the cafe," he added.
"There's plenty of places to rent around here," she said with a smile. "In fact, I have a neighbor renting out a room, if you're interested. I'm sure I've mentioned you countless times to her, so I don't think she'd need much convincing."
"Oh, that's alright," he declined. "I was hoping to get my own place, but I appreciate it, Marble. I'm not used to living with other people, I've been on my own for as long as I can remember."
Marble raised an eyebrow. "Oh, is that so? What do you remember?" she asked. Kaneki realized his mistake, and mentally kicked himself. He had gotten too comfortable around her.
"I would rather not talk about it," he replied honestly.
"It's not a pleasant history, huh?" She looked at him with an expression he couldn't quite recognize. Marble crossed her arms and sighed as Kaneki attempted to hide his shock. " Ken, you're not exactly as hard to read as you may think. I'm not going to force anything out of you, alright? Just know that you can share whatever it is that's going on in your head. You must be tired of all the praise I give you, but it's sincere; you are one of the best things to happen to this little coffee shop, to my Velvet, and to me."
Kaneki looked away, hiding his eye from hers. He didn't have any words to share with her, as he never planned on telling her a thing. He had vague images of his past, faces without names, names without faces and only a few names with faces; two of which he could do without. He composed himself, and put on his plastic smile. "Let's get you home, Marble."
Torchwick paced back and forth in a quiet apartment; one of many safehouses he had around the city. On the couch, his associate Neo, sat with her legs crossed. She wore a slight frown, looking over the recording of the Cannibal. The two had managed to get a copy of the footage before the VPD confiscated it before the media could get to it. Torchwick had only seen it once, unable to stomach the brutality of the carnage.
"He's a freak," he said for the umpteenth time. "I-I mean who the blazes eats people? He did it so casually too! But he was borderline afraid of me when we first met, and now he thinks he can threaten me?"
Neo put the recording away and looked over to her partner. She lifted her parasol and waved it around. Torchwick looked over, which only fueled his ire.
"And his skin is unbreakable, apparently!" he added, as Neo put down her weapon. He collapsed on the couch next to Neo, mentally exhausted. He had given Kaneki much harder targets for his last two jobs, but he took care of them just as quickly, quietly and efficiently as the first. His train of thought was soon interrupted when his scroll buzzed. "Oh, what now? Great, it's the she-devil."
He opened his scroll to see a set of coordinates far from Vale and a new set of instructions. He groaned and opened up the messages, seeing blueprints for what appeared to be massive bombs. His scowl disappeared as he began to put together the plan. He chuckled darkly to himself, humming in approval. Torchwick was never one for senseless violence for the sake of violence, but Cinder's plan was far from that. At the bottom of everything, she added, "bring your bodyguard if you must. We cannot fail."
"Neo, pack up," he announced. "We're going on a trip." He walked over to the bedrooms of the apartment, when an idea popped into his head. "Say, Neo… what's your opinion on working with that freak?"
Neo's eyes widened for a moment, before they settled into a contemplative expression. She crossed her arms, thinking back to the Cannibal. On one hand, he had shaken her to her core from his namesake alone. On the other, having seen the results of him when he had a task had piqued her interest more than she was willing to admit. Finally making up her mind, she nodded to Torchwick.
Roman grinned and dialed the Half-ghoul.
Kaneki walked down the street where his new address would be. The place he had finally settled on was a small house in a rather sparse neighborhood. It was rather cheap, likely due to the location of the home. This home was a tad out of the way than his other options, but what set this one apart was the fact that it had a basement. It wasn't particularly large, but enough space to get a few freezers or refrigerators.
The first floor of the home had a pair of bedrooms, a single bathroom and a rather large living room. He'd definitely need to fix the place up, but he didn't really know the first thing when it came to flipping houses. Not to mention that if he fixed it up too well, it may become a target for burglaries.
He shut the door behind him, and before to wonder if he had enough money to start buying appliances, when his scroll went off. He took it out and was surprised at the sudden request.
"Got a job lined up. Triple the pay, but you'll be out of the Kingdom for a few days."
Kaneki considered the money for a moment, before he recalled his conversation with Marble. He knew she'd be safe with him out of Vale, but how would he convince her of that? He had just convinced her that he should take over the night shift. Figuring that he'd figure it out, he pulled up her number and called.
"Hey Ken!" she greeted, no doubt with a smile. "What can I owe this pleasure?"
"I, um, need to go out of town for a few days," he said right away. "Since I won't be able to take the night shift, would you consider closing while it's still light out until I'm back?"
He could hear Marble shifting on the other end. "Where is this coming from all of the sudden? I mean, by all means, you can take whatever days off you want. I can run the café alone for a while. When do you think you'll be back?"
"I'm not exactly sure," he admitted. "It shouldn't be more than a week, but if it does approach that, I'll call to check in."
"Well, alright, sure," she said, uncertainty in her voice. "I'll put up a sign tomorrow morning with the change of hours. Are you sure everything is alright?"
Kaneki touched his face as he looked around his new home that was in disrepair. "Yeah, everything's fine. I'll talk to you soon. Thanks Marble."
As soon as he hung up, he agreed to Torchwick's offer.
Team RWBY sat on their beds, facing the center of the room. The tension hung in the air like a thick fog, silence being the only thing coming from them for the last few minutes. Yang kept looking at Blake with guilt, ashamed that she wasn't there to help her teammate this time around. Blake appeared alarmed that Yang had come face to face with the killer, but any other thoughts she had remained hidden. Weiss and Ruby had tried their best to ease the tension amongst the team, but it was all for naught.
"So… what's our first step?" asked Weiss. "I mean, we don't really have a lead, so…"
Ruby sighed, and shook her head. "I don't know… I mean, we can go after the leads we do have regarding the White Fang's hideout. If we find anything there regarding the killer, we might be able to put some pieces together."
"That's assuming that the White Fang isn't working with him," Yang pointed out. "Heck, this freak could just be some psychopath who likes killing! It doesn't make sense that he would work with the Fang after killing two active members."
Blake sighed again, her exhaustion getting to her. "That's if we're dealing with one killer. The Cannibal might not be the one behind the deserter killings. I mean, the media is quick to put anything together, but that doesn't mean it's true. I'm sure the VPD have come to the same conclusion. I mean, it just doesn't make sense."
Ruby frowned, the idea of multiple killers not sitting well with her. "Well, what if he was angry in the first three? Or wanted to prove a point?"
"Prove a point by eating them?" Yang asked incredulously. "What point could he possibly have been trying to make? That he's a freak?"
"She might have a point," Weiss interjected. "I mean, when the Fang targeted my family, they would make a show of the executions they carried out. The, er, cannibalism might be an attempt to strike fear into the general population. I can't say I can understand how criminals think, but what if that was his way of announcing that he's here?"
Yang frowned and crossed her arms. "And the following ones were, what? Him proving that he can kill silently too?"
Ruby sighed as the four of them didn't seem to get anywhere. "What if… we just listen to Professor Ozpin?" she suggested. "I mean… he did say not to look into this…"
"And what, let him roam free?" asked Blake, a bit harsher than she intended.
"Not necessarily," Weiss answered, defending her partner. "We don't have any solid leads on this killer, but we do have a lead on the White Fang and Torchwick. It's not like the killer suddenly makes what they're doing an non-issue. I mean, Yang, do you really want to face him again?"
"What the hell is that supposed to mean, Ice Queen?!" she demanded, getting to her feet.
"I mean, she does have a point, Yang," Ruby cut in. "We don't have to chase after him right away."
Blake then took Yang's side. "And let more people die?!"
"What good will we be if we're the ones who died?" Weiss shouted. "That warning he left made it very clear that he won't be so merciful the next time you see him. Do you want to be killed?!"
Yang couldn't believe her teammate's words. Her fingernails dug into her palms as she tried to contain her anger. Unable to, she stormed out of the dorm, leaving the three girls behind.
"Yang, wait!" Ruby shouted, but the door had slammed shut behind her. She turned back to Blake and Weiss, the former having taken a seat on her bed, and Weiss standing frozen in regret.
"I-I'm sorry Ruby, I didn't mean to-" began Weiss. She looked away ashamed.
"I'll go check on her," Ruby sighed. She turned to Blake who was rubbing her eyes. "Blake, I didn't mean to sound like I want to let that guy get away... I just... I'm sorry." She left the dorm, appearing much less enthusiastic than she'd ever been.
Weiss picked up a folder, looking over to Blake. "I don't suppose you'd want to go over..." she stopped. Blake had already fallen asleep. Putting the folder down, she pulled a blanket over her teammate.
That's a wrap! I just want to thank you all for the support in the reviews you've left me. The truth is, I had most of last chapter written ages ago, but could never find the heart to finish it. Fortunately, CarpeN0ctum has been able to give me the encouragement that I didn't know I needed to keep writing this chapter, so, thanks again, N0ctum!
And sorry to gildedSentinel, I didn't mean for you to spill water on your desk. I hope nothing was damaged!
I would address all the reviews individually, but I have another chapter to write.
Love you all!
