Chapter 5: Summoning
The island where the caste resided was probably the warmest of all the islands the king ruled over. He hadn't chosen to build the castle here for that reason of course. He had chosen it because of the layout of the island. The island terrain made it very easy to defend if you had the necessary number of troops, which he had.
It has been a week since Brandish and Bacchus had left to escort the cargo with weapons. There had been no contact with them since then. Normally they should be on their way back by now but that wouldn't happen on this trip. The king had made sure of it. Doflamingo was under a palm tree near the shore and was looking at the sea in silence. His servants had brought a table and chairs for him here like they always did. He liked to come here often. There was something about the sounds the waves made that calmed the madness within him. As much as he loved the madness inside him, he still needed to calm it sometimes, so his mind wouldn't fall into pieces. Even a mind such as his couldn't keep at bay a madness such as this. The only other thing that calmed it was Mirajane, but she had been avoiding him since Brandish had left. That was something else he allowed only her to do. If he called you answer, no matter who you were. She was different though. This doesn't mean that her behavior didn't infuriate the mad king, because it did. If she was anyone else, he would have ordered her to be brought in chains in front of him. He smiled at that thought. Like the fools he reined over could chain Mirajane. The fools were terrified of her as much as they were terrified of him. After all, she wasn't called Majin Mirajane for nothing.
The king turned his head at the sound of footsteps coming from his right side. Mirajane was walking in his direction. She was wearing a red summer dress with black high heels. The dress had a few pink ornaments all around it and looked great on her voluptuous body. The white-haired woman was also wearing a necklace with a blue gem around her neck today. Doflamingo recognized the necklace and a small smile formed around his lips. He had given her that necklace long time ago. She would wear it after each fight they had as a sign that she was over it, and that she was coming in peace. The king had had enough of her ignoring him, so when he saw the necklace, he relaxed a bit. His madness was engulfing him, and he needed her right now.
Mirajane - the king said when she was in earshot of him. I am glad that you came. Sit. The white-haired woman did not speak but she did what he asked. She was still furious at him, but she had to come see him. She had heard that he had tortured a guard in the morning just because he felt like it. Mirajane knew about the madness that haunted him, and she knew that whenever she was far from him for too long his madness would become worse and worse.
I hope you didn't come here just to stare at me - continued Doflamingo with a mocking tone. That would break my heart. Heh Heh Heh! I didn't know you had one - said Mirajane with venom in her voice. Now, that is something pretty mean to say, my dear - said the king with a disapproving gesture. Mirajane just smiled at the comment and turned her gaze at the sea. The sea appears to be quite wild today don't you think? - continued the king. She had come but she was still ignoring him. His anger was boiling so hot inside him that the heat of the sun was just a breeze in comparison.
Mirajane had kept her silence long enough to make a point and then she had gone behind the king and embraced him. Her embrace was like a cool wind that kept the fire inside him dancing to its tune. His madness began leaving him more and more with each breath of hers he felt around his neck. Whatever anger he had till that moment toward her, it disappeared like the sun does were the moon takes its place. They stayed like that for some time. Forgotten in time together.
