Disclaimer: I do not own Spawn or Justice League

Gotham City

After being nearly raped only to be saved by Spawn, Diana had gone back to her apartment to change into her Wonder Woman attire and now stood on top of a rooftop in Gotham City, overlooking the city and it's almost empty streets.

Gotham's scum have been scared with the appearance of Spawn in the city recently, and the worst scum feared for their lives as Spawn had no issues with killing men like them.

Diana's mind went back to her little 'date' with Nathan earlier, and the words he said, about the Justice League, Spawn, their rules, and the justice system. It made her wonder...

Diana shook her head to clear her thoughts and she looked around before her gaze stopped on an alleyway where her eyes widened at see a group of six men dragging a woman down the alley, two of the men holding a crying little boy at 9 years old. Easily knowing what these men had intended for the woman, Diana flew in and landed hard in time to halt two of the men from ripping the woman's clothes off.

"Back the fuck up, Whore!" Diana heard and looked to see one of the men holding the little boy, with another pointing a gun at his forehead. "One move and this little shit has his brains splattered all over the wall!"

Diana looked from the boy to the woman as the men continued and knew if she made so much as a single step they would shoot the boy. She could barely resist the urge to let her warrior instincts loose and bring Hell upon these bastards as she glared at one of the rapists who laughed while trying to rip the woman's jeans.

"Hope she's tighter than the last sluts!" He laughed like a crazy man.

A chain suddenly shot out from the darkness and slammed into the mouths of the two rapists holding the woman. Wonder Woman almost winced when hearing the sound of bones cracking as the two rapists were sent flying into their friends. With her quick reflexes, Wonder Woman quickly grabbed the little boy and his mother and got them out of the way.

"W-Who the fuck did that?!" One of the thugs demanded, getting to his feet. He pointed his gun at a glaring Diana. "Was it you?! Talk or we'll kill you after fucking you!"

Something dropped down into the alleyway, causing everyone to look...and fear came onto the faces of the rapists as they saw the familiar tall, dark figure with a red cape and glowing green eyes that narrowed on the rapists.

"That's not nice language to use around children." Spawn spat.

With this distraction, Wonder Woman then struck.

Spawn lunged forward and the two ended up fighting back to back as they dealt with the six rapists; Wonder Woman used her shield and her punches to hurt a few of the thugs really, really badly, sending three into the wall hard enough to give them fatal concussions that will need aid or else they'll die. Spawn, on the other hand, was less than merciful as he stopped a futile punch that was coming his way with his hand and yanked hard enough to tear off the man's entire left arm, causing the punk to scream in horror and pain at the freshly made stump before Spawn punched the man's head right off his body like that scene in Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason takes Manhattan when Jason Voorhees knocks the boxer's head right off with just a single punch.

The little boy hid his face into his mother's stomach so he didn't have to see the gory sight while Wonder Woman was fine due to her experience as a warrior and seeing worse.

Panicking, the last two thugs whipped out their pistols and fired at the two heroes. Wonder Woman blocked with her shield while Spawn took the bullets head on, getting a few bullet holes in his chest that leaked green blood of some kind, but they sealed up right away. Spawn then sent his chains out, one hitting the leader in the chest which broke a few bones in his chest, the second grabbing the second thug by the ankle, tripping him then slamming him into the ground hard, breaking the punk's nose, destroying much of his teeth, and giving him a nasty gash on his forehead. Spawn then slammed the punk into the wall hard for a crack to be heard as the back of his head was literally cracked open before Spawn finished him off by stomping his boot into the thug's face, killing him with the force of the stomp to the face.

Both heroes observed the aftermath of their work; three of the would-be rapists were covered in bruises and dislocated limbs, groaning weakly as they tried to move any part of their body, thanks to Wonder Woman. The other two were in… very poor condition from Spawn. The headless one was leaking blood from both the stump on his neck and the one from where his left arm once was, with said arm laying several feet away from his body. The other one's head was destroyed beyond recognition; bits of skull and brain matter, and blood were everywhere.

The two then turned their attention to each other… and kept their eyes locked onto each other. Spawn narrowed his eyes at the Amazon warrior, and Diana felt herself tense as she felt his eyes roam her body, whether because of lust, her mostly revealed legs and cleavage, or looking for weapons, she didn't know. But she knew she may not be in his good books after the incident between him and the Justice League in New York.

That was when they heard coughing from behind them, turning around to see the leader coughing up blood before turning to the two heroes who had ruined his and his friends' "fun", and then upon seeing the dark figure that easily took out a few of his men, fear overtook his other senses.

The man tried running but a chain lashed out and wrapped around the man's ankle, tripping him up as Spawn walked over, picking up a discarded crowbar along the way.

"Jesus Christ! Mercy" The man cried pleadingly, tears running down his cheeks which just made him look more pathetic than he was. In Spawn's opinion, this guy just looked even more pathetic and worthless than ever.

Spawn almost rolled his eyes but decided to speak a little Hamlet. "'We're oft to blame, and this is too much proved, that with devotion's visage and pious action we do sugar on the devil himself.'"

The thug looked up at Spawn with confusion through his tears. "W-What does that mean?!"

"Spare the Rod." Spawn whispered in a sinister tone before he raised the crowbar and brought it down onto the thug's head hard enough to kill him before he tossed the crowbar aside.

Diana looked away before making her way to where the mother and son were hiding, paying the bodies of the would-be rapists no mind as she passed.

She cared not for the states of those men. The bodies of the dead ones should be burned to a crisp and their souls sent to Hades for their disgusting actions, while the ones that were still breathing had better pray they don't end up getting thrown to the lions in jail should they make a full recovery. Her dark thoughts quickly dissipated as she found the mother and her son crouching against the wall quietly.

"Are you okay?" She asked with concern, crouching to her knees to check on the boy. "They didn't do anything more did they?"

"No." the mother shook her head, hugging her son tightly. "T-Thank you!"

Diana smiled a little but remembered a certain someone was still here and turned, the tender moment turning into a tense one as Diana faced Spawn who watched, covered by the shadows of the dark alleyway, his green eyes only seen in the darkness, watching them.

"S-Some coincidence to see a 'wanted killer' and one of the Justice League teaming together." The mother said in an attempt to break the tension.

Spawn stepped out of the shadows, saying gently. "There are no coincidences, only the illusion of coincidences."Staring at the mother and son, he continued. "You should move to New York, better than living in a dump like Gotham City where the 'protection' you get from Batman can hardly be called that."

Wonder Woman herself was just as speechless at the display of kindness Spawn was showing towards the family. For such a merciless man, he sure had some manners.

"I don't care what the Justice League says. You're not a bad guy!" the boy said with wonder at the Grim Reaper.

"I guess… they were wrong about you." The mother added with a smile.

Wonder Woman smiled as she observed the conversation. With their attention away from her, she considered leaving, only to grunt in surprise when she found the boy hugging her legs tightly, thanking her repeatedly. Diana chuckled as a soft, almost motherly smile formed on her face as she looked into the innocent eyes of the child who was too young to experience the darkness of the world.

"You two were awesome!" David beamed.

Diana was shocked that neither the boy nor his mother pointed out how she, a member of the Justice League, had teamed up with a wanted killer like Spawn, but smiled nonetheless. "It's all part of the job." She cleared her throat and stood, looking back to see Spawn...but he was gone.

"Where did he go?" The boy frowned.

Diana smiled at the boy. "Probably to save someone else. He is busy I think. Come, we should get you and your mother home."

She made sure the mother and her child got into a taxi that would take them home before she flew around the alley and found Spawn on a rooftop, waiting for her. She landed beside him.

"Are they safe?" Was the first thing he asked, staring ahead with his arms crossed.

"Yes." Diana replied as she stood beside him, staring ahead like he was. "Thanks to you."

"Hmm." She heard him grunt. "If you are here to arrest me, then you may want to prepare a meeting with the hospital because I won't go quietly."

Diana detected the warning in his voice but shocked him when she replied with. "I'm not going to arrest you or bring you in to the Justice League." Seeing him turn his head to look at her, she continued. "That family's safety was more important than bringing you in."

Diana didn't fear the League's reaction to her letting Spawn go, that family was in danger, so what was there to be afraid of? And who were they to judge her for putting their lives first over the mission? Isn't saving lies the reason they do what they do? The reason the League was formed in the first place?

"Tell me, how did it feel?" Spawn suddenly asked and she looked at him but he continued before she could ask what he meant. "I saw that look in your eyes, a look I know all too well because I have it, Those men hurt a lot of people and you wanted to see them suffer for it. Whenever they have someone vulnerable and weak at their mercy, they think they're in control. But when they cross something bigger than them, they piss and shit themselves like the pussies they are. You take away the power and money of a wealthy person, they have nothing. That's how it goes, everyone is weak and powerless. Those who have power can easily have it taken away from them and be just as human and powerless as everyone else in the world."

Diana only stood in silence as she considered these words. She couldn't admit that she enjoyed breaking those would-be rapists, but it did feel satisfying to see them on the receiving end of a humiliation, at the hands of a woman no doubt… and a dark figure in a red cape. She decided to give her honest answer.

"Truth is, it's what me and my sisters were raised to do. As Amazons, it's our duty to bring peace and order, even when there's no other way. Killing during battle was always our way, at least where we're from." she answered.

"Amazon...guess it's not the delivery service." Spawn said, making Diana giggle. "You're not so bad, unlike the rest of your fellow Leaguers. I still ain't apologizing for New York, they stepped into my turf and I don't like it when people come to my city uninvited."

"The League has the wrong idea about you." Diana said softly. "You're not as bad as they make you out to be."

"Or want me to be." Spawn added.

"But, you were right the first time. We had no reason to come to your city." Wonder Woman said apologetically as well. "Still, now that you left, they thought it would be okay for them to try to arrest you before you head back."

"Why are you telling me this?" Spawn asked, looking at her again.

"I've been having… second thoughts lately. About how we run things, and how people have been losing their faith in us recently because of it. I thought the rest of the League would learn after New York, but now they seem more focused on trying to detain you than the safety of the people we're supposed to be protecting." Wonder Woman said in a dejected tone.

"You shouldn't take any shit from them." Spawn said with disgust at the League. "The rules they made are done by a bunch of softies who can't do whatis right to protect the people. They'd rather spend time chasing me than actually helping the people. You are a warrior, don't let them walk over you and take advantage of you being naive to the world. If they don't like your opinion, leave them. I bet there will come a day when you make a big choice that has dire consequences and because of that choice, something is going to happen. Your friends are going to support you through it and show they really do respect and call you a friend...or they are going to quickly kick you off their little team to save their image and show that they were never your friends, never respected you, just wanted you close so they could hold a leash around you. When that day comes, and they chose the second one...I'll be there to support you."

Diana was stunned at his words, and felt her heart skip a beat. He seemed so confident and sure that the League will end up kicking her out if she decides to make a dire choice. She wasn't going to deny his words, merely think them over.

"Head back to New York while you still can, okay?" Wonder Woman asked after being silent before she patted him on the shoulder. "i'll see you around, Spawn."

With that she flew off, Spawn watching her go before the mask retracted and absorbed into the mask to reveal Nathan's smiling face.

"I knew Diana Prince was different..." he muttered, having figured it out when seeing the woman in and out of costume this past day and made the connection. Honestly, how does she hide her identity so easily?

Nathan shrugged and the mask came over his head and face again before he got moving...

And that's it for this chapter folks. I hope you all enjoyed it. Figured there should be Spawn and Wonder Woman instead of just Nathan and Diana scenes for now. So they've met in and out of costume, well this is the second time they've met in costume if you count the incident in New York.
