An: NymhadorTonks: I'm glad you like Oakley, he's one of my favorite characters. Definitely a lot more of him in the next chapter. Normally, Laura would practice magic, but she doesn't want to miss out on the high school experience. She's also going for Eliza and Fauna. They either all go, or none go. They have a tight bond!

Donna was about to flip to the next chapter, but then she noticed that there was a long silence in the room. She tucked the book away before she lifted the bed skirt up with a finger. She dropped it and gasped when Matt's eyes were inches from her own. He started to laugh when she squealed. "Don't do that," she reprimanded. She lifted the skirt again to see him there. This time, he wasn't upside down, but laying on the floor.

"You know I couldn't help myself," Matt grinned. "It helps the pain."

Donna rolled her eyes. "I highly doubt that." She checked her phone for the time. So much for breakfast. She might be able to make it to first period on time.

"Well, there is something else that could help," Matt gave her a longing look. She shook her head with a smile. He always could turn any conversation into a seductive one.

"I'll give you a kiss if you can pull me out from under this bed," she proposed.

"Done," he said quickly as his hands grabbed her underarms. He dragged her out in one swift motion. She slid across the floor next to him. Pulling her in closer, he pressed his lips to hers before she could take in a second. Her lips parted, and they shared a small kiss before hearing footsteps once again.

Before either could say anything, Matt pushed her under the bed again and plopped down on top of the cot. The weight of his body slightly pressed her more down into the floor. She was about to punch him from under the mattress so he would move, but the door swung open and Donna froze. She sunk back towards the wall, blending in with the dust bunnies.

"Mom, why are you hopping?" Matt asked. There was a small sound of clicking heels.

"Oh! I am? I thought I heard someone say bunnies," Maddie's voice came from the door before she shut it. She walked over to the bed, and Donna hoped that she couldn't feel her presence. Maddie had seemed to have a special ability to know when she or Matt was near.

"Mom, I-"

"That's because I can hear the narrator," Maddie explained, lifting the bed skirt. Donna jumped back. Or she tried to but ended up hitting the back of the wall. She was caught.

"Hey," Donna said in a friendly voice. "What's going on?"

"I think the real riddle is, what isn't going on?" Maddie said. "You should be going to class." Donna had almost forgotten that Maddie was a teacher. She was more like a friend or a fun aunt. "Thank you, I feel as if you were my own daughter. And maybe one day you will be."

"Mom!" Matt scolded. "We don't need to jump the spell. Donna, just come out." She did as she was told.

"Say what you say, but the tea leaves don't lie," Maddie crossed her arms and lifted her chin.

"What are these narrators anyway?" Donna asked as she pulled herself up from under the bed.

"They're just the voices in her head," Matt shrugged.

"Kitty can hear them too!" Maddie clapped her hands.

"That's..." Donna didn't know what to say. "Wonderful?"

"Exactly!" Maddie suddenly turned serious. "So why was the little raven hiding under the crow's nest?"

"Because she came to visit me this morning," Matt explained. "And then the nurse almost caught her, so I shoved her under the bed."

"I was just about to leave when you came in," Donna added, hiding the small blush on her cheeks the best she could. "I know I'm not supposed to be here."

"Well, neither am I," Maddie shrugged. "Rules are only made to break. The clock strikes 64 and the rules are no more."

"Uh...okay," Donna mumbled as she grabbed her bag. The book was leaking out from its hold in the bag, so she tucked it away quickly and threw it over her shoulder.

"What book are you hiding?" Maddie asked. Donna widened her eyes and tried not to think. It was the only way to not reveal anything. "Reveal what?"

"It's nothing," Donna shrugged. "Just that...I didn't do my Riddlish homework."

Maddie studied her carefully. This was actually true, but Donna didn't think she would have to admit it. "Oh, well, you can just do it in the library during lunch," Maddie said simply. "No worries to Wonderland and back."

"I don't know what just happened," Matt cut in the strange encounter. "But I think you should get to class Donna. The bell's going to ring soon." Donna put a hand to her stomach, she wished she had time for breakfast.

"Here!" Maddie suddenly dug around in her top hat and pulled out a tray of biscuits and tea. "I just put them in this morning, still fresh in the hat!" Donna raised her eyebrow. How was this even possible?

"You'll get used to it after a few years," Matt whispered to her. Donna smiled before taking a couple of biscuits and a single cup of tea. She glanced back at Matt and Maddie. She wished she could give him a proper goodbye, but she needed to leave. His striking blue eyes followed her, silently begging her to stay. Hopefully, she would see him again soon.

All through the morning classes, Donna thought about the book. She couldn't get her mind off it. She was so curious about what its pages contained. Donna knew she shouldn't have hidden it from Matt. He deserved to see it or let her read it to him. It was just an instinct to keep secrets, especially when it came to Laura, Eliza, and Fauna.

With Luara dead, Donna hadn't seen much of Eliza or Fauna. They naturally blended in with the shadows. Donna wished she could reach out to them, but she couldn't even find them. She had only seen Eliza a few times in the hall. Fauna was usually with her, but sometimes she was alone. Donna couldn't help but think of their last conversation at Laura's grave. Eliza had told her that she would one day reveal the truth of Laura's story.

Was Eliza the one who gave her the book? How could she get into their dorm? Donna could ask her, but if it wasn't her, would she be mad that Donna was reading about her life? Donna so badly wanted to finish the book. Perhaps it was selfish, but Donna had uncovered so many secrets this last year, it wasn't anything new.

During lunch, Donna had told the group that she would go to the library to do her Riddlish homework. Catherine asked if she needed any help, but Donna denied it. She intended to do it by herself, but then she saw the book again, and it drew her in. She selected a table in the back where hardly anyone could see her. Donna flipped open the book and read on...
