"What?!" Sango yelled out as Kagome sat next to her in Kaedes hut. Kaede similarly sat wide eyed and stunned.
"Sango, please...just don't." Kagome begged.
"Kagome, may I assume that Inuyasha be the father?" Kaede asked her eyes trained on her.
"No." Kagome whispered. She felt the glare that came from Sango.
"You like Inuyasha, you're always complaining about how he sneaks off with Kikyo and you go off and get pregnant?"
"Who be it then?" Kaede questioned. Kagome only shook her head.
"I can't tell you." Kagome lowered her eyes to the floor. "Can't you just, get rid of it? In my time abortion isn't legal. It's left up to the courts to decide if I'm allowed to terminate...please."
"Termination is not something I normally practice. The risk to the woman is great." Kaede said. "In this case I believe Kagome that if ye gather enough of your spiritual energy then it could be effective in expelling the pregnancy."
"Okay, anything else?"
"Strenuous exercise. If ye truly wish to end this then continue your travels and the goal of defeating Naraku."
Kagome stared straight ahead of her. She looked to Sango who sat shaking her head. There was not any support there at the moment.
'What should I do?' Kagome wondered. "I need to...get some air."
As she exited the hut Miroku came up to her taking her hand in his. "Kagome, Inuyasha told me the news."
"Oh, great." She said with fresh tears shining in her eyes.
"No matter what we are all here for you." He said. Kagome gave a nod removing her hand from his.
"I need some space, I have to think."
"Of course."
"You gonna be okay?" Inuyasha asked from his perch in his favorite tree.
"Yeah."
"Want me to go with you?"
"No." Kagome moved across the small bridge by the stream walking towards the well. She placed her hands against the wood and sighed. "Okay, expel my spiritual energy and it might get rid of it."
Closing her eyes she called upon the power that was imbued deep within her. It was difficult and not something she normally could readily do.
It always felt as if she were opening a pot of water and slowly letting out the steam. The static came next, it was electric forcing her hairs to stand on end. She took a deep breath concentrating a good amount and letting it build up.
Sweat beaded on her forehead as she fought to control it. Her eye lids tightened as she felt something fighting against her. It was a slight demonic energy that grew in force and collided with her own.
With a shout she fell to the ground on her knees clutching her stomach. Her energy shocking her in the process. It had fought against her, this thing in her.
Heaving air into her lungs she began again this time with her back against the well and stared at the area in front of her. Images from the night of the blood moon began to resurface.
Kagome shook her head and refocused her energy. "Stop it." She said aloud to herself.
She gathered her energy more quickly this time as not to give it a chance to fight against her. The same feeling came over her as she fought against it. "Oh no you don't, you little bastard."
She panted and became winded as her energy clashed with it only to once again have her own overtaken and shocked.
"Damn it!" Kagome brought her hands to her eyes covering the tears that fell.
"Kagome." The voice sounded some distance away from her. Kagome froze keeping her face covered. She was dead. She was going to die. He would kill her for this.
As the fear set in she began to sob. The demon lord stood over her thoroughly confused.
"What is the meaning of the burst of energy you just expelled? You do realize that you nearly called every entity to you within a large radius."
Kagome continued to cry and only shook her head. Sesshomaru had been a considerable distance away until he drew closer to her. He scented the air around them stopping in his tracks.
His eyes narrowed as he felt his breathing shallow out. It was unmistakable. In that instant he understood what she had been attempting to do.
"Kagome." He commanded. Still she sat covering her face, the scent of her tears heavy in the air. "Look at me."
Lowering her hands she peered over her fingertips at him. Her face was drawn down as unshed tears clung to her eyelashes. He noted that her eyes seemed lighter in contrast to how they normally were as they glistened.
"Are you going to kill me?" She asked thickly.
"No."
"Are you going to kill...it?"
"No little one."
"I tried, I tried to not get pregnant Sesshomaru...I swear it but it didn't work.
And now it keeps fighting me back and...what are you doing?"
Sesshomaru had taken a knee in front of her bowing his head. Kagome felt her hands fall from her face and into her lap.
"You are not to blame. This ones atrocious behavior is." Sesshomaru stated. "As regrettable as an outcome this is, I Sesshomaru take full responsibility for the state you are currently in."
"It's not just your fault." Kagome said. Sesshomaru glanced up at her.
"Would you have lain with me had I not threatened your life?"
"Probably not." Kagome said. "So, why aren't you going to kill me?"
"Would you prefer if I did?"
"Right now? Yeah, kind of." Sesshomaru turned his gaze to the sky.
"Since that night you have not left my mind. My thoughts are plagued by you."
"Why?" She questioned pensively. Sesshomaru shook his head.
"This one is not certain." He brought his attention back to hers. "In whichever capacity you deem fit little one, this Sesshomaru will be."
"Thank you." Kagome said sincerely still deeply worried and afraid.
