This is my first fanfiction and I hope you like it. For each update, I will be suggesting a couple of songs that I think really remind me of the chapter. So go ahead and ENJOY!
P.S. I have decided to update on the 15th of every month.

CHAPTER 4

Jace POV

Jace rubbed the sore spot at the back of his head, where Izzy had whacked him hard enough to leave a bruise. Be nice to Clary, you nitwit, she'd snapped at him. You're supposed to make her like you, not make her want to murder the first chance she gets! He couldn't help it, though. The way her face turned the same shade of red as her hair and her cheeks puffed out while her eyes glittered – it was all too amusing to him. Besides, she looked absolutely adorable when she was mad. Like an angry little kitten. Jeez, he thought, being nice is hard work.

He walked into his room and flopped down on the bed, without even bothering to take his shoes off. She was embedded deep in his mind, and he found himself wondering how many freckles she had, scattered all over her face, how her hair would feel like beneath his fingertips, and most importantly, he thought, with a sly smirk, how deeply I can make her blush.

He sat up when there was a quiet knock on the door, before it opened slowly. Standing on the other side was Max, looking adorable in his Star Wars pajamas. He had taken off his glasses and was sleepily rubbing his eyes.

"Hey Max. What's wrong?" he asked the boy softly.

"Can you tell me a story? Dad tucked me in, but I can't fall asleep." Max replied, his voice thick with sleep.

Jace gave him a wide smile. He loved the way Max looked up to him more than Izzy or Alec. It made him feel like he was part of the family.

"Sure buddy. Which one?" Jace had told Max so many stories, that the boy now had a wide range to choose from.

"The one about your bath in spaghetti."

With a small laugh, Jace took Max's hand and walked towards the younger boy's room. The room was covered with Star Wars posters, Naruto and Dragon Ball comics strewn all over the floor. Jace shook his head, trying to control his severe OCD. He wanted nothing more than to clean up the messy room.

"Come on squirt. In you go."

Max quickly climbed into his bed, and looked at Jace with wide eyes, eagerly awaiting his story.

"It was the 18th of January and the day of my fifth birthday…"

Clary POV

"-that annoying, egotistical, wannabe blonde jerk!"

To say that Clary was in the middle of an angry rant would probably be the understatement of the century.

"Clary, sweetie, come on. He's not that bad." Jocelyn tried to reason with her daughter, even though amusement was clear on her face.

"Yeah, you're right. He's worse!"

Jocelyn couldn't hold it in anymore and burst into laughter. Clary huffed with annoyance and stomped up to her room.

"Goodnight honey!" her mother from behind her.

"Night mum."

She walked into her room and paused for a minute, looking around. She had unpacked quite a lot, but there were still a few stray boxes littered around the room. Oh well, I'll finish it tomorrow.

She grabbed her sketchbook and jumped onto her bed, letting her imagination run wild. She had realized long ago that she drew much better when she let her hand do its thing, rather than think it through.

Half an hour later, her eyes were drooping and her hand was starting to cramp. Looking down at her drawing, she practically screamed in anger.

She had drawn none other than Jace himself, in all his golden glory.

She threw her book aside in frustration. God, I can't even draw without thinking about him!

She changed out of her dress and got ready for bed. As she drew the blanket up to her chin and laid her head on the soft pillow, she fell asleep almost immediately, only to dream of molten gold eyes and an infuriating smirk.

Clary POV

School. The one word which ruined every teenagers' day and made them wish they were dead. Including Clary.

Idris High. That's what the school was called. Wow, a school called Idris High in a town called Alicante. Can these people get more ridiculous?!

She grabbed her backpack and glanced at her reflection in her mirror. She had to admit, she looked good. Tight black leather jeans with black combat boots, a red tank top and her trusted leather jacket. Her hair had been brushed to perfection, and the black lined around her eyes made the green in them pop. Her gold locket glittered in the morning sunlight. It was a Morgenstern heirloom, that her father had gifted her on her tenth birthday. She had never taken it off since then.

She walked down the stairs, towards the kitchen, where she could hear her mother humming a tune, the smell of bacon and pancakes wafting out of the room.

"Morning Mum." Clary went over to her mother to kiss her on the cheek.

"Good morning sweetie. I made breakfast. You want some?"

Clary looked over at the mini-feast her mom had prepared, but shook her head when she felt her stomach tighten. She was way too nervous, and was sure to throw up if she ate anything.

"No thanks Mum. I'm not really hungry."

Jocelyn gave her daughter a sympathetic smile. The poor girl was obviously scared to meet so many new people, especially since she was shy and reserved.

"Well go on then. You don't want to be late for school."

"Bye Mum. I love you."

"Love you too sweetie."

Giving her mother a tight hug, Clary walked out the house and towards the garage. After a quick debate, she decided to take her motorcycle. Driving her car was pointless, since it was just her. Besides, she loved the way she felt while driving her bike. Practically invincible.

She tugged her helmet on and started the bike. The engine roared and Clary grinned with glee. She sped out of the garage and towards the school, loving the way the wind blew against her.

As she neared Idris High, she saw multiple heads turn at the loud rumble of her bike. She pulled into the parking lot and shut the engine, before removing her helmet and shaking her head to get her hair to fall perfectly down her back. She could see most of the crowd gaping at her. No doubt motorcycles, especially with girls on them, were practically non-existent here.

"Clary!" she heard a high pitch voice call out. Turning towards it, she saw Izzy walking towards her with her brothers and a few other people in tow.

"Hey Izzy. What's up?"

"Nothing much, just wanted to introduce you to some people." Izzy pointed towards the small group behind her.

"You already know Jace and Alec. These girls here are Kaelie and Seelie." She pointed towards two curvy blonde girls who were wearing skimpy excuses for clothing. Tight tube tops and micro miniskirts, with super high heels. Clearly, they were the 'it' girls of the school.

"And these guys here are Sebastian and Magnus."

The moment Clary looked at Magnus, she was blinded by the enormous amount of glitter he was covered. He was wearing tight blue pants and a bedazzled black shirt with a colorful scarf. He eyes were lined with glittery liner and bright eye shadow. There is no way that he's straight.

"Hello Biscuit, nice to meet you."

"Biscuit?" Clary tried and failed to raise one eyebrow.

"It's my nickname for you. Deal with it." Magnus said, shrugging his shoulders.

It was at that moment that Clary knew, Magnus and her were going to be great friends. He wasn't overly-friendly like the other people in the town, and he spoke his mind, just like her. She gave him a wide grin and he winked back at her.

Her attention was suddenly diverted when she felt someone hold her hand. She turned to find a tall and handsome dark haired boy with brown eyes bringing her hand to his lips.

"Hello Clary. It's a pleasure to meet you." He winked at her before kissing the back of her hand. She gagged internally, before tugging her hand away.

"Wish I could say the same." She muttered under her breath, but apparently it was loud enough for everyone to hear, as Sebastian scowled at her and she heard a few people snort next to her.

Izzy laughed loudly and took her arm, pulling her towards the school building.

"Come on Clary, let's get our timetables."

As soon as they were in the building, Izzy turned to her, squealing loudly.

"Oh my god Clary, that was so awesome! I can't believe you did that! No one has ever rejected Sebastian before. Well, except me of course. But, seriously, I think I love you!"

Clary couldn't help but join in on Izzy's excitement, and the two girls giggled as they walked towards the secretary's office. Clary was suddenly struck with a realization. For the first time in a long time, she was truly and completely happy. With a larger grin, she laughed at Izzy's insults about Sebastian.

A voice stopped them halfway to the office.

"Izzy, wait up."

A familiar looking boy came up them and quickly kissed Izzy. Clary's eyes widened in shock as Izzy kissed him back.

When they broke apart, the boy turned to Clary and froze in surprise.

"Clary? What are you doing here?" Simon asked her.

"Idris is the only high school in Alicante and Clary is a junior. Really Simon, connect the dots." Izzy told him, but paused when she realized something.

"Wait a minute, how do you two know each other?"

"We met at Java Jones the day I moved to town." Clary told her.

Realization passed through Izzy's eyes, before she hooked one of her arms around Clary's and the other around Simon's.

"Well come on then. I want to compare our schedules."

The secretary was a kind woman with greying brown hair and deep blue eyes. The moment Clary realized who she was, she jumped to hug the woman.

"Amatis! By the Angel, it's been so long. I missed you."

Amatis was Luke's older sister, and to Clary, Amatis was like the older sister she never had. She hadn't seen her in over six years and never realized how much she had missed her until now.

"Oh, I've missed you too, darling. Gosh, you've grown up so much. You look just like your mother."

The duo smiled at each other, happy to meet again after so long.

"Amatis, I would really love to catch up, but we have to get to class." Clary reminded the older woman.

"Oh, yes! Give me moment."

Amatis handed over their timetable to the three teenagers, who quickly started comparing it. Clary had barely glanced at hers, when she groaned out loud. Her first class was Math and she was not looking forward to it.

This is going to be a long day.
