Chapter 5
It's been a month since Sam last hooked up with Evan and Gigi has not stopped harassing her about it. Drunk her tend to make irrational choices. Buck is one of them and she's trying to leave that behind but Gigi her best friend , insist her to hit him up. What Gigi doesn't get that she doesn't have his number nor did Sam want it.
"He's so hot and that birthmark on his left eye somehow makes him hotter!" Gigi said to Sam right before she got out her car that night she picked Sam up from his place.
"Gigi why is it so hard for you to understand I don't want to be with anyone. Especially not Buck who is Los Angeles play boy. I've heard many stories about this man; a cocky firefighter who thinks he can get anyone but I won't be one of his victims" Sam told Gigi. Sam wished Gigi stop asking her about him.
Things have been stressful lately. A good surgery is what Sam's need right now. Dr. Russell recently let her watch in on his heart transplant and as usual the other interns gave her a hard time about it. They have this idea that Sam's sleeping with him, and that's why she is getting in on all the good surgeries. Truth is they can't deal with how good she is. Sam's was one of the best in her class and she didn't work this hard to be ordinary. She don't need to sleep around with her attending to get in on the good cases and they hate that. Sam have no doubt it's Savannah who's starting these crazy thoughts and putting them into everyone's head. Little do they know she's the one sleeping with the neurosurgeon Dr. Adam Ellis. Word is he's married but yet he's sleeping with an intern. Classic
"They're crazy for thinking you're having sex with Russell just to get good surgeries. However, I do think he has a thing for you" Gigi said as she taps her fingers on the counter.
"People are really losing their minds here" Sam thought
"Seriously G?" Sam said , she rolled her eyes.
"He's an ass but his the least ass to you. Have you not noticed it lately?" Gigi said , she tries to make a point.
"That doesn't mean anything. Maybe he finds me less annoying than everyone else but I don't think he has a thing for me. It would be completely inappropriate" Sam said
"I believe that you're thinking too much into this. Now, what are you wearing to the Gala?" Sam asked as she tries to change the topic.
The hospital is hosting a Gala to help raise money to support families who have children with Autism Saturday Night. Gigi narrows her eyes knowing her intention.
"Not sure yet" Gigi answered.
"I haven't gone shopping yet for a dress. Do you want to come with me tomorrow morning?" Sam asked
"Yes! I heard Savannah is wearing purple and that's my favorite color but I cannot show up wearing the same color as her so .. no purple" Gigi pouts . Sam chuckle.
"We would look better in purple anyways" Sam says. Gigi agrees.
"Duh" Gigi said
Amanda appears next to Sam all bubbly as she leans over on the counter. The nurse behind the counter gives them all annoyed look. The nurses hate when they stand by the counter talking about their drama and things they don't care to hear about. But they sure to love to gossip about it.
"Ladies" Amanda beams. She's in a very good mood today. Amanda is always upbeat but her smiles is on another level today and Sam's sure she's dying to spill whatever the reason behind it. Sam adore her to death but sometimes she tends to overshare information.
"Amanda" Gigi and Sam says in unison. They do that a lot.
"Tyler asked me to be his date to the GALA!" Amanda screams happily. Her eyes are filled with excitement.
Amanda has this huge crush on Tyler. It was obvious since day One. When Amanda told Sam , Gigi, Mazzey and god knows why she told Savannah. They all pretended to be shocked but it wasn't news to us. It also wasn't news when we found out Savannah tried to hooking up with Tyler knowing Amanda likes him but she's snake and does not care. Sam sometimes wonder why they even keep her around on their group. She tries her hardest to kiss everyone's ass , talks badly about the other interns when they're not around and constantly wants attentions from guys; spoken for or not. Sam despise her.
Sam do her best to share the joy with Amanda.
"Oh! My god! No way! I knew he was going to asks you, why wouldn't he?" Sam say, Gigi nods.
"You're gorgeous and it's obvious you two have chemistry." Sam added
"Really? I was so scared that he would ask Savannah because I mean look at her and I've caught her talking about how hot she thinks Tyler is" Amanda starts with her usual tearing herself down because of Savannah.
Sam hates when Amanda does this. Compares herself to the other girls , especially Savanah and it irks her nerves because Amanda is Beautiful. Her heart is huge and no matter how bad you treat her , she forgives you and will act kind toward everyone. Sam's don't know how she does it, remains so positive in negative situations. But that's why Sam's adore her. She's a beautiful person with a beautiful soul. Much more beautiful than Savannah in her eyes.
"No. Don't do that! Look at you!" Sam point a finger at her.
"You're stunning. Savannah is a slut" Sam said, Amanda gasps at Sam calling , Savannah a slut. Sam shrug it off.
"Saaaam!" Amanda said as she exaggerates her name. Gigi is fighting her giggles. It's amusing to Gigi how innocent Amanda can be at times. She hates when we call Savannah a slut and Sam understand they shouldn't especially at work but God that woman knows how to get Sam pissed off even when she's not around.
"It's the truth and we all know it!" Sam said
"Oh! Hush, here comes Dr. Russell" Amanda says , as her eyes go wide , fixing her coat as Dr. Russell approach them.
"Rodriguez!" Dr. Russel called Sam.
"Dr. Russell" Sam answered.
"Come with me. I'd like to speak with you about something" he said as he walk past them without waiting for Sam to say Yes or No . Not that Sam have a choice. Amanda and Gigi cross their fingers as Sam follow behind Dr. Russell.
"What do you want to talk to me about ?" Sam ask. They stand outside an empty room. Dr. Russell stretches his neck before looking directly at Sam. For a moment he just studies her.
'What the hell does he want ? If his going to yell I rather him hurry and get it over with. My shift is almost over and I have a few things to pick up before I go home' Sam thought
Sam hear him clear his throat before finally speaking.
"As you know there's a Gala this Saturday" his eyebrows slightly raised.
"Yes?" Sam said as she was confused on what this is about.
"Most of us will be going " he said
"I know … it'd be nice if most of us go to show our support but Dr. Russell . I'm little confused on why we are talking about Gala? Did something come up and you're unable to go? A surgery that you might need me on that night?" Sam asked
His eyes awkwardly fall to the ground. Then he says something but Sam can barely hear him.
"I'm sorry I didn't catch that." Sam said
"I want to asked if you're going?" his voice is stern. Sam nod
"I am" she said
"Well uh.. would you be willing to be my plus one?" his eyes still on the ground. The questions stumps Sam.
Her attending is asking her to be his plus one? Is this even allowed? Sam thought to herself
"Uh! I umm –" Sam stutter.
" Never mind just forget that I asked" he starts to walk away , but Sam block him.
"No" Sam says Not as her answer but to keep him from leaving
"No?" He repeats
"No , don't leave I mean. I mean Yes ! I'll be your plus one." Sam answered.
His face softens. This is the first time Sam seen him somewhat relaxed. He looks less of an asshole.
"Alright. This is all professional to be clear" he said back to being serious.
"No, I totally agree , I wasn't thinking it would be a date" Sam regret saying that. " Was that all?" Sam added
"Uh yeah ! I have a surgery in twenty so I'll uh let you get back to whatever you're doing, See you on Saturday" he said and smiles.
"Should I pick you up?" He asks.
" No it's okay I'm riding with my friends so I'll meet you there. I promised the girls we'd carpool" Sam said. He nods his head and walks past her. This time Sam's don't block him
"What did he yell at you for now?" Gigi asks. She and Amanda are still there where exactly Sam left them by the counter. Sam wonder if they were watching them
"Nothing" Sam shrug. ' Should I tell them?" Sam thought
"What did he want to talk to you about?" Amanda pushes,
Sam glance at the both of them, thinking it over for a minute before deciding to spill.
"He asked me to be his plus one" Sam whisper , careful to avoid the nurses hearing and gossiping about it to the entire hospital. Both Gigi and Amanda gawk at Sam.
"No! Freaking way! Dr. Russell asked you to be his plus one?" Amanda says it a little too loud and Sam give her a death glare. She covers her mouth
"Sorry ! but Oh! My God" Before she can make a comment a very unpleasant voice speaks form behind them. Sam turn around and twist her face up in annoyance , giving her the dirtiest look as possible
"Who asked you to be their plus one?" Savannah asks , arms crossed over her chest. A stupid smirk plastered over her face.
"No one" Sam dryly say and turn her back towards her.
"Hmm " she hums. Her voice irritates Sam.
"I was thinking of getting a hold of that guy , the one from the bar that one night? You went home with him Sam?" she lightly pushes her way between Sam and Gigi. This makes Gigi furious but she knows better than to start a fight with her while their at work
" I'm sorry what guy?" Sam asks dumbly
"Oh don't play dumb Sam! That super-hot firefighter you went home with after Manny's Do you have his number?" Sam can't help but laugh in Savannah's face.
"No" Sam answered while laughing
"What do you mean no? you don't have his number? " She whines.
"I mean I don't have his number , now goodbye" Sam answered as she glance at her watch time to go
"You seriously won't give me his number?" Savannah said annoyed as she walks away from the counter.
"She's such an annoying bitch" Gigi spits.
" But anyways I can't believe Dr. Russell wants you to be his plus one! He's so got a thing for you I'm telling you Sam!" Gigi says
"Gigi he is our attending" Sam scowl at her
"So?" She doesn't care. Gigi never holds back on voicing her opinion
"Dr. Russell is attracted to you and soon you will see how right I am" Gigi added
"Gigi normally is right on certain things and that's what I'm afraid of. That she will be right about Dr. Russell. I just don't know if I want her to be right or wrong this time?" Sam thought.
