Chapter Five:

This was a disaster! Rescue mission failed!

It was getting late, and the twins sat in the park with nowhere to stay and no time stone. Emma would say this was Hugo's fault. Hugo would say this is Emma's fault. In retrospect, it was mostly Emma's fault.

She had provoked the Akuma into a duel. Emma would say this was Akuma's fault. Hugo would say this was Emma's fault. It was definitely Emma's fault. She bragged about her fencing skills, when she had no sword, she defended the honor of Jagged Stone. When things started getting serious, or more serious than they were already, Emma considered her options. She could run away. Scratch that, she had already done that this morning and it was a pretty feeling. She could persuade the villain to leave her alone. That was lame, Emma wasn't lame. So, in order to defend the honor of Jagged Stone, she opted for fighting. One issue. As mentioned before, she did not have a sword. So, she raised her fists, preparing for a one on one battle to the death. This was the cause of many effects, including Hugo getting turned into a knight. Hugo said this was Emma's fault. Emma said this was Hugo's fault. This was still up for discussion. If Hugo had never decided to come rescue her, this wouldn't have happened. Undoubtedly, Hugo saved Emma's life, but in no pocket of time or space would she ever admit that!

However, before poor Hugo's tragic capture, they had been involved with Ladybug and Cat Noir to fight the villain. Although there was a slight crunch for time, Emma knew they would succeed, and was therefore able to call Hugo a "Worthy Sacrifice".

But, there was one other thing. One small inkling of a detail that Emma considered so miniscule she didn't think it'd be any use to mention. In their rush to get back home before their real parents found out, it was very sloppy. Ladybug and Cat Noir had obviously wanted to thank them for their help, when they discovered them opening a portal. A series of shock faces, tripping over feet, and a couple of other things as well, later, the portal had closed. The two siblings left behind. What did they do? Did they face their parents like the aspiring heroes they were? Did they make a fake identity in order to protect the future and time in general like the selfless, courageous, mature, etc. children they were?

No.

They ran.

They ran fast.

The actual young heroes were almost out of time with their miraculous, so their already exhausted offspring could get away. And once they had settled onto a bench. Emma relished in the freshly made memories of their adventures. They were practically heroes, give them a miraculous and they were a gold team! She was a bit disappointed in herself for running away from her parents for a second time, but she could easily overlook that!

Meanwhile Hugo was silent, imagining how life would go on after he was erased from existence. He was barely even listening to Emma, but when he did focus in on what she was saying, he was bewildered. Was she being serious? She was excited?

"Did you forget the part where we lost the time stone and made ourselves look suspicious in front of our young parents?!" Hugo yelled, standing up. Emma stood up as well and crossed her arms. "Did you forget the part where we helped save Paris and got away safely? No need to be such a Debbie Downer. I have a plan."

Hugo looked at Emma doubtfully. This girl, the one who tried to duel an Akuma with no sword or powers, had a plan? Not a chance.

"I do! Remember the man named Master Fu, the one our parents talked about? Well, he was the guardian of the miracle box. He is sure to have some time stones!" Emma said cheerfully. Her brother just looked at her like she was stupid. "You think he just keeps them lying around."

"Our parents do."

"And you think he is just going to hand one over?"

"Why not?"
"That's-"

"You really are a Debbie Downer. Just follow my lead." Emma said with a yawn. Partly because she was really tired from the eventful say she just had. And partly because she wanted to look cool and nonchalant. It wouldn't have worked on Hugo anyway, he already knew she was deranged. "Do you even know where he lives?" Hugo tested.

Emma looked at him coyly, "Well, I know what he looks like."

"Unbelievable." Hugo groaned and rubbed his face.

"Don't antagonize me! It's not as if we have a better option. If so, please share."

Hugo put his hand on her shoulder and steered her to the right direction. "I know where he lives."

"Then why did you insult me?"

"When you want to make a plan, you need to know things. Don't gamble with little bits of information."

"That's why you make the plans, I put them in action," Emma rolled her eyes but nevertheless cheered up.

Unfortunately, he couldn't find his house again. In his rush to get out, he didn't bother to memorize landmarks. In the future, his house either wasn't there anymore or the appearance changed. They couldn't find it.

They had been looking all evening, and Hugo might've given up ages ago if not for Emma. Contrary to what one may think, she was a wonderful encourager. However, it seemed even her persistence was being dimmed, she was tired and hungry, starting on hangry. She was even contemplating begging their grandparents for shelter.

However, as they collapsed on the nearby bench, Emma saw out of the corner of her eye a short old man in a Hawaiian shirt. She immediately sat up straight, tapping Hugo's shoulder.

"It's Master Fu." He whispered, wide-eyed. The old man started to walk towards them. The twins just stared, as he made his way in front of their very bench.

"You kids seem a little hungry, would you like some help."

I have been very busy recently and haven't been able to update. Because of this, I've decided my schedule will only be once or twice a week.
