The gasp startled her awake, her eyes flew open. She felt as if she were returning to her body. She was numb but on fire all the same. Everything hurt and she was groggy, her vision was fuzzy, it was hard to breathe. With a great wrenching cough she sputtered and managed to turn on her side.

All she saw was red tinting her vision as if a bloody lens had covered her eyes.

Slowly she held a hand to her head as she sat up and winced unable to see more than a short distance in front of her. The stars were still in the corners of her eyes and no matter how many times she blinked they didn't seem to go away.

With a strength that she didn't even know she had she stood and stared down at her once fine clothing; dirty, bloody, stiff from male seed and torn to shreds.

She realized that she was walking, taking a step forward not consciously knowing where she was going.

She went to the fallen log and nearly fell down next to it. She stared inside to see the small girl seemingly unharmed, unconscious. She pulled her out bringing the girl to full alert. She hit and bit at the hands that had grabbed her only stopping when she saw that it was the new Lady who had grasped her.

She threw her arms around her and cried. Lady Mayumi was nearly knocked over from the force of it. She wrapped her arms around the girl and stood, unsteadily. The girl buried her face into her neck weeping.

Lady Mayumi was grateful she hid her face. Perhaps spare her a little bit of horror although she was certain the child had seen much of what had happened.

She gripped the little girl more tightly in her arms as she made her way past the carnage that was once her family and servants. She saw it all but felt as if she were looking through it. It felt as if she were walking on air even though the ground was hard under her feet.

It was the sound of startled shouts that made her glance up, she saw men gathering and staring at the mess that laid before them. Their eyes fell on her.

"Please...please..." She whispered hoarsely uncertain if she had any voice left at all.
