A/N: Notes are all at the bottom for y'all.

Lucy woke up bright and early. Finding last night was hard to sleep with the excitement that today would bring. Today was the date. The date! Did she care that she felt like a schoolgirl again? Not at all. She deserved this. Deserved to be happy. Nastu made her happy. Rising out of bed with a spring in her step she headed to the shower, wanting to begin the day fresh.

Twisting the nozzle to hot she took a long shower making sure she was the cleanest she could ever be. The water also woke her up from the grips if sleep pulling at her eyes. The temperature not boiling, but hot enough to turn your skin a bright pink. At the end of the shower she stepped out feeling alive and refreshed. Smelling like her favorite body wash vanilla and strawberries.

Now her outfit was another story entirely. She had just bought a new romper for the spring, the color a brilliant red and it was flowy enough to breath in, or going in a basic t-shirt and jeans. With a frown she looked at the two, not knowing which one to choose from, when the door creaked open. Small hands grasped the door frame, "Mommy?" came a groggy voice.

"Yes sweetie?" she tilted her head at him, thank mavis she was still wrapped in her towel.

"What are we doing today?"

"Well since you are doing so well in daycare and soccer, I wanted to treat you to an arcade."

Kade rubbed his eye almost like she did when she was fighting to stay awake, with a tilt of his head he asked, "What's an arcade?"

With a small laugh she explained, "An arcade, love, is a place where you go to play games and have fun. There are even some outdoor games like GoKarts, bumper cars, and a whole lot more! You've been to one before but you were younger back then." Lucy ended with an air of rememberance.

"Woah." he awed. "Can we go now!?" jumping on the balls of his feet. Kade had woken up the more Lucy had talked about an arcade.

"We'll be going in a moment. We're waiting for Natsu to come pick us up. It's still early, bud. Why don't you start to get ready." She nudged his shoulders in encouragement.

"Natsu's coming!"

"He is dear, but asking about it won't make him come any sooner." She gave him a look

"Okay mamma."

With a nod of her head, she sent him off to get ready, dressing was still a challenge for her boy, but he could brush his teeth and hair on his own without her assistance. Lucy decided on the red romper. It was warming up outside and yes she was a mom but that didn't mean she couldn't look cute. MInd made up she changed out of a towel and into her clothes for the day, a touch of lipgloss and some mascara and she was set. Peeking in on Kade he seemed to have his teeth brushed and was currently fighting some tangles, his brush was strong but bedhead seemed to be stronger. Kade grew more and more agitated with the knots. Finally taking his anger out on his hair he aggressively started brushing, the blonde hair making ripping noises through the brush. Lucy took this opportunity to step in, calming the boy down and confiscating the brush. She now held it in her hand and asked, "Kade honey, what are you doing?"

"I'm trying to brush my hair but it keeps getting stuck." he huffed.

"Sweetie you have to be gentle and patient." She bent down to his level and held a lock of his hair in her palm, she began to work on the nasty knot, having the occasional, "Ouch mommy." from the boy. When she finished one knot she tackled another, working out the knots took a couple strenuous minutes but she showed kade how to properly work out a knot starting at the bottom and working his way up to the top of his head. "See, a little patience and wala! Hair tamed."

"Thank you mommy."

"You're very welcome." Lucy kissed the top of his head. "Okay! Shall we get dressed?"

Kade nodded eagerly. Lucy dressed him in a red polo shirt and dark blue jean shorts, a matching set if both were together. Also as an eye catcher in case she lost sight of Kade.

Lucy walked down the hall into the kitchen, Kade in tow. They rounded the corner and Lucy decided to make breakfast easy for today. Waffles and yogurt parfait. With breakfast in their stomachs Lucy gave Natsu a text.

'Ready when you are.'

Nastu responded, her phone pinging in response. 'Okay just finished eating breakfast. I'll be there in 10.'

'Sounds good.'

':)'

Lucy smiled as she put her phone down. Each day with Natsu she felt more and more comfortable with him. It helped that he was easy to talk to as well. Lucy's body jerked at the realization. She was comfortable with him. She felt safe. As if she could tell her whole life story and there would be no judgement. She doubted that Natsu would stop talking to her because of her past, though there was a slight nagging in the back of her head saying that he'd never want to talk to her again, but the rest of her. The rest of her trusted Natsu.

Lucy's heart rate spiked, her pulse pounding through her. When was the last time she felt this comfortable with a man. 'Not since High School. Not since she met her ex.'

Lucy shook her head, Natsu was not him. Not even close. He was kind, and funny, not to mention a complete dork when it came to her kid and his team. He was everything and more compared to the sleaze ball of a father her ex was. She found that if Natsu asked to be something more… 'I'd say yes.'

"Mommy." a distanced voice rang. "Mommy."

Clearing her thoughts she turned to her boy. "Yes love?"

"Your phone."

"Hmm?" Turning to look at what Kade was pointing to, she noticed her phone going off. The melody set for a certain pink haired man.

"Hello?" she answered.

"Hey I've been ringing. You sleeping or something." he snickered.

"Ha Ha. Very funny Natsu."

Kades head perked up at the mention of his name. "Mommy can I talk to him?"

Lucy nodded with a knowing smirk, "Hey, Kade would like to speak to you real quick. I'm putting him on."

She passed her phone to Kade, his hands dwarfed compared to the device. "Nastu guess what?"

She could her a faint voice answer him back in equal enthusiasm, "What?"

Kade was practically vibrating at this point, "We're going to an arcade!"

Natsu replied back in a hushed tone, "You wanna know something even better?"

Kade whispered back, "What?" Covering his mouth to the phone. Lucy gave him a playful look to his antics. Apparently she wasn;t going to be in the know.

"Really?!" exclaimed Kade, popping out of his seat, he then began asking questions a mile a minute.

"Kade honey I need to talk to him too. Can you share with mommy?"

"Here you go mommy." Kade gave back the phone, his smile near hysterical at this point. If he tried any harder she thought it might rip off his face. His hazel eyes crinkled at the corners and smile stretched wide. She loved those smiles the best.

"You said you're here?" She said.

"Sure am. Waiting on you slowpokes." Came his reply.

"Coming down now. See you in a sec."

"Bye Luce."

Lucy hung up the phone and grabbed her purse. She had no intention of paying for lunch. Grabbing Kade's hand they locked the door and walked outside the complex. Spotting Natsu's red VW passat in an instant Natsu got out of the car. A booster already in the car from the Sports Complex. Heading for Lucy and Kade he gave a big smile and waved at Lucy and Kade.

"Yo!" he shouted, "How's it been you two."

"Natsuuuu!" Kade sang letting go of Lucy's hand, making a b-line towards Natsu. Kade reached his target in a matter of seconds. Arms wrapping around his leg. Natsu let out a grunt from the impact.

"Hey pal how've you been." Natsu said, ruffling his hair. .

Kade let out a squeal of excitement. "I'm good! You're coming with us right?"

"Yes sir! That's correct! Why don't you go and buckle in, okay sport?"

"Okay Natsu!"

Lucy hung back, watching the whole scene transpire. Admiration brightened her eyes, she took her time walking over to him. A smile played on her lips crinkling her eyes in just the slightest.

Natsu now noticing and giving her full attention stood starstruck. His eyes widened and hands twitched with unknown intent, but he didn't move a muscle. Hell, he didn't even blink from what she could see. He drank in the sight of her like he was looking at an oasis while he was stranded in the desert. His eyes holding an intensity to them that she couldn't match.

Finally dropping her eyes, she brushed her hair behind her ear. "Hey." she gave a small wave.

"H-Hi." he stuttered. Natsu shook his head, pink spikes moving with the motion. Natsu tried jump starting his brain again and remembered how to have a normal conversation. "You look beautiful."

"Thank you." she said bashfully. "Not bad yourself." Lucy wasn't lying, Natsu wore a red and black tee that hugged him like a second skin showing how incredibly fit he was, and denim jeans. Even everyday wear looked good on him. He could rock just about anything and make it look good.

Natsu enveloped her in a sweet embrace, one that she returned in full, mindful of her son in the car. Natsu rested his chin on the top of her head, and breathed in letting out a content sigh afterwards.

Lucy felt like she could stay this way forever with him, but best not to keep her son waiting, three year olds were not known for their patience. So she stepped out of reach but not without taking his hand and leading him over to the car. "Best not leave him waiting."

Natsu rubbed the back of his head bashfully, a small blush decorating his cheeks, "Guess your right." Natsu led her to the passenger side of the car and opened it for her, with a small bow he said, "After you princess."

"Why thank you, kind sir." she gave a small curtsy mirth filling her voice.

After Lucy got situated Natsu closed the door and rounded the drivers side. Cars made him sick but he found if he was driving then it wasn't as bad. Starting the car they made their way to the arcade. Natsu's hand magically found its way to Lucys where it stayed durning the duration of the drive. They all played games to keep Kade entertained, the ride wasn't long but it would take at least 30 minutes to get there. So they had fun playing eye spy to pass the time. It seemed Natsu didn't have super hearing but sight as well, picking out the smallest detail for Kade and Lucy to find while on the road.

"I honestly don't understand how you can see that." Lucy quipped. "I feel like we're at a disadvantage here."

Natsu gave her a humored look, "What?" he commented sarcastically, "I have no idea what you could possibly be talking about. Anyone can see that Luce maybe your just weird."

"What does being weird have anything to do with it?"

Natsu gave a shrug, "Just does. Aint that right bud?" Natsu looked in his rear mirror at the little boy.

A resounding "yeah!" could be heard from the back seat.

Lucy crossed her arms and pouted, "Well obviously I'm just out numbered."

Natsu squeezed her hand that never failed to give her butterflies, "No you're just weird."

"Sure thats why."

Natsu let out a chuckle. "I don't know how I can see that well but I can. Helps me with coaching and fires." His shoulders gave another shrug. "Guess I'm just born awesome." he waggled his eyebrows a sly grin making its way on his face.

The brows are what did Lucy in. She couldn't contain it anymore, she burst out laughing, shoulders shaking with the motion. 'If he could only see his face' she thought. It was the stupidest thing she had seen, the cocky grin and the wavy brows. She didn't know what to do with him. At some point Kade joined in on the laughter, while Natsu just stared purplexed on what was so incredibly funny. He knew what he did was funny, but not that funny.

Natsu gave up trying to figure it out and uttered, "Weirdo." Natsu's real smile came to rest on his face.

Before long they reached the arcade. The large LED sign that read Magnolia Arcade. "Alright everyone! We're here!" Natsu exclaimed.

Kade pressed his face to the window, wanting to soak everything in. Lucy let out a chuckle seeing her son like that. Looking back at Natsu a competitive smirk danced across his face, lighting his emerald eyes.

"You ready for this?"

Lucy answered back, "Please, born ready." She matched his playful tone.

With that, they exited the car, finding a parking spot near the establishment. As they walked into the arcade the smell of cheap pizza and pretzels filled the air, black lights decorated some of the spots while the room was filled with random arcade noises, some shooting games, others were racing. Lucy could barley keep up with all the noise. Kade looked in amazement his eyes blown wide from seeing all the games. Natsu led them over to the kiosk that supplies the game cards where you can load them with money. With 3 hours set on the cards, Natsu faced Lucy.

"Person with the least amount of points buys lunch for the winner."

"Deal." Lucy held her hand out for Natsu to shake.

With the final shake of the hand. The competition began.
