"First rule of magic: always be the smartest person in the room."- J. Daniel. Atlas.
"Seems your Potter luck has struck again Harry, we've got the FBI on our tails." Neville called, sorting through the book the other male had given him. Harry grumbled lowly from his spot on the couch, hands fiddling with a deck of cards.
"It's not my fault the luck strikes, be grateful our dear friend Arthur hasn't caught onto our plans. Speaking of him when's he gonna send a limo for us?" He looked over to Hermione, who was buried in a pile of papers and writing notes at a rapid pace.
"The limo is coming in an hour, we're already packed so there's not much else to do except wait." Luna's quiet voice spooked the two, causing Harry to light his cards on fire.
"Damnit! That woman really needs a bell or something." He grumbled, easily putting out the fire and fixing his cards. With a flick of his wrist his wand shot forward into his palm, then transformed into a dove.
"Having fun over there Harry? Your wand isn't a toy after all." Hermione called, to which Harry rolled his eyes and flick his wrist once more. The dove disappeared, and his wand reformed.
"What? I'm just learning some wandless magic is all, I am a magician after all." He threw her a cheeky grin before yelping as a large book was thrown at him. "You're so cheesy." Hermione giggled, summoning the book back to her.
"But enough with your puns, our ride awaits."
"I rather like flying, calms the nerves before a big show." Harry informed the group as he played around with his burnt cards, mindful of the fixed parts. Hermione snorted at his words, trying and failing to not stare out the window and instead focus on her laptop.
"You only say that because you're used to flying much more dangerously." She called, reading over their plans for the show.
Their boss and next victim Arthur was clueless to their talks, instead going off on how he was excited to see their next big show.
Harry paid his words no mind, his eyes trained on the scene of both Neville and Luna sitting beside each other, talking in hushed tones and sharing secret smiles.
"Ew, those two are such a sappy couple." Harry wrinkled his nose at the scene, pulling out a fake rose and handing it to an amused Hermione.
"Don't be rude Harry, you know those two aren't together."
"You say that now, but I know for a fact those two will be hitting that sack-ow!" Harry winced at the shoe thrown at him.
"Careful Harry, we're having a case of flying shoes, dangerous things." Hermione snickered, not even bothering to help her friend up.
"Har Har, so funny." He grumbled, rubbing his aching head. Luna peeked over the side to give him a smile. "Have the nargels infested your mind once again Harry? You seem dazed." She asked, smile bright.
Harry only huffed, before motioning over to their boss and grinning.
"Time to bait a fish."
"Ya know, if show business doesn't cut it for us we can just stay and live here for a while." Harry looked upon the scene with large eyes, excitement stirring in his bones.
Hermione wrinkled her nose at the smell of smoke, but readily agreed with him. New Orleans was bustling with life, the air filled with the rumblings of people and night life, something they weren't used to coming from the quiet country of Britain.
"We should enjoy it while we can, before our show starts and we're forced to run for the hills." Harry chuckled, itching in excitement for the night's events.
"Just for a bit, then we gotta go in and prepare." Hermione agreed before dragging the male off into the crowd.
Unknown to the pair, a curious set of gold eyes watched them leave.
'How exciting.'
"Why am I going in alone? With no backup?" Agent Wolfgang wasn't impressed, nor was he excited to be stuck inside a cramped building housing a bunch of crazed fans.
"They like you apparently, if we send in a normal agent they'll probably feel threatened and plan a counter-attack." That answer only served to annoy Wolfgang even more.
"Still a rookie here, I don't call in orders." He was roughly handed a badge and a walkie.
"Call us when they start acting funny, we'll be outside."
Agent Wolfgang groaned loudly before dragging his feet into the building and sitting down. 'Well, at least I know if all this fails I wont get blamed.' He thought before the room went black.
'There's something comforting about how fluid their magic works, makes it almost seem real." Agent Wolfgang watched the scene, transfixed. 'Wonder if they could let me have that rabbit-focus!' He shook himself awake, focusing at the task at hand as the show began to close.
'Looks like it's nearly over, with nothing strange happening-oh I spoke too soon.' Wolfgang watched as the horsemen's Boss Tressler came strutting onto the stage, all attitude and class.
'Annoying old man,' Some words were exchanged before the scene evolved and chaos began to mount as they pulled forth a large check and blasted it with light from a large flashlight.
"Alright, somethings happening in here. Looks like Tressler's getting robbed." Indeed, the numbers on the check began to drop rabidly and the hollering of the crowd grew louder as money began to fill their accounts.
"Is this for real? Did they actually rob the guy?" Wolfgang spoke into his walkie, and the others on the line couldn't even process it.
"All of it's true, they just robbed him blind!" Chaos erupted in the building as Arthur lunged at the group, but was stopped by a chain on his leg.
"Thank you all for coming, we are the four horsemen and goodnight!" The four were lifted up into the air and disappeared into the ceiling.
Agent Wolfgang was left reeling, but he snapped to attention and quickly bolted to an emergency exit.
"Looks like we got a tag." Harry cursed as he noticed Wolfgang easily catching up to them.
"Split and meet up at the spot." He ordered before they all broke off and went into different directions. Agent Wolfgang cursed, not sure as to who to follow.
"Stay on their tails rookie!" The roar of his boss echoed in his ears as he chased after the lead man. The large partying crowd was a hazard for the chase, nearly sending Wolfgang into a panic at the loud music and the bright lights.
He felt whoozy and dizzy as he chased Harry into a back alley. There was a car parked right in front of a fence and Wolfgang had only a second to react as he smashed into the car.
Harry easily leapt onto the car and over the fence when he heard the thunk.
Peeking over, he gasped quietly at seeing the agent on the ground out-cold. There was blood leaking from his nose, likely from a concussion and Harry didn't know whether to stay or leave.
The sirens grew louder as they approached and he regretfully left the man, disappearing right as a van pulled forth and FBI agents came tumbling out.
Spotting the body they called for an ambulance and that concluded their chase for now.
From above, gold glittered in the night sky, an image of an eye appearing before vanishing.
