Chapter 5: The Training commences
The next day, Izuku and Ochako were wide awake and up, waiting for All Might at the location he gave them. He had told his mother about the training he was doing for U.A, and she was all for it. All Might arrived in front of them.
"I am here!" he said, "Ready to commence the training that the two of you will endure for the next 10 months. Now young Midoriya, we shall start with enhancing your physicality over the next few months, in order to get your body ready for the quirk's power. Due to the fact that you study martial arts with young Izuku, I think your body should be ready within 4 months."
"4 months?" Izuku asked.
"Yes, but this doesn't mean you will be able to master the quirk in that short time span," All Might explained, "Once you receive the quirk you will need to get your body use to the quirk. But I have a feeling it should be easy for you to master it. You will also help in this Uraraka, as this will help you build your quirk"
"Ok," Ochako said, "Let's do it!"
Over the next few days, Izuku has started working out his body by moving garbage around using his bare hands. Hee had also gone with Ochako at a gym to increase his muscle strength. The training was tough but it would well be worth it in the end. He was close to achieving the body strength needed in order to control and use One For All.
At the same time, Izuku was learning some strengths of his own. He was using Aura to make his attacks stronger. He developed a technique in which he can disperse aura with his punches in the form of a wave. Toshinori nodded knowing that Izuku would become a great hero in the future.
3 and a half months have passed and the beach was halfway cleaned. Izuku was more well toned and chiseled. Both Ochako and Toshinori were amazed by how far he's become in that short amount of time.
"Holy… Stinking….." Toshinori said, "SUPER CRAP!"
Izuku heard the two of them and smiled. He then jumped down landing on his feet.
"Am I ready Mr. Yagi?" Izuku asked.
Toshinori smiled and nodded. "Yes. Yes you are," he said as he transformed into All Might, "You've proven your worth for my quirk, and have put in a lot of hard work! You should be proud of yourself young Midoriya."
Ochako smiled as she was happy for her best friend. She was also happy for herself as she had gotten a bit stronger with her quirk. All Might took out a strand of his hair and held it towards the green broccoli boy.
"Eat this." he said.
Izuku's excited face turned into one of shock as his eyes shrunk down.
"...wha…" "AAAHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!" ochako and Izuku respond.
"Well to inherit my quirk you have to swallow some of my DNA, its how it works," All Might explained.
Ochako had an idea. She pulled out a sports drink and gave it to him.
"You can swallow it down while drinking this," she told him with a smile.
Izuku while taking the bottle. He then ate the piece of hair and watered it down with the drink. Despite being freaked out by having to eat a piece of hair, he felt ok.
"Alright, once the hair digests into your system, we'll spend the next four months training you on how to use OFA and also enhancing your Aura manipulation quirk." All Might explained.
Izuku nodded and exclaimed, "Alright, Let's do it!"
A few more months have passed since the day Izuku inherited One For All in his body. Gran Torino had started training Izuku with the secrets of OFA in All Might's place while he was busy either fighting crime or going on dates with Inko.
The first few weeks were kind of hard for Izuku to be able to control the quirk. The first time he used OFA on his arm he ended up breaking it. But he did manage to break the boulder so they made a little bit of progress. Over the next few weeks, he slowly learned how to use OFA and control the output she uses on one part of her body, primarily his arms.
However, he still felt like she was missing something important.
"Something still feels off," Izuku said, "I'm not sure what I'm doing."
Gran Torino decided it was time to step in. He walked towards him.
"I don't think it has anything to do with what you are doing young whippersnapper," he stated, "It's more of what you're not doing. It looks like you're depending on OFA as if it were a super move. Sure, it's a body enhancing type of quirk, but it works similar to others with quirks."
Gran Torino showed Izuku a video on his phone of a specific pro hero with the power of super speed.
"See this?" Gran Torino asked, "He's focusing quirk throughout his entire body and not just his arm or leg. When doing this he's not flipping a switch on and off, but rather he's keeping on the switch in an outlet so to say."
Izuku was thinking for a little bit, and thought for a moment about what he needed to do. He suddenly got it.
"So if I focus OFA throughout my entire body, then I can get it used to the power," he said, "Keep it going at a steady stream, but increase the power as I keep going."
Izuku focused the quirk throughout her entire body. There was a faint green energy going around inside him. Red veins also appeared throughout his body as well. Electricity was flowing around him like crazy. He kept the quirk's power at an output of 5% to start with.
"Now for a name," Izuku thought, "Ooh, how about this. One For All. Full Cowling."
Gran Torino smiled. "I like it."
"Alright, let's get moving." Izuku said.
They had casual sparring matches in order to help Izuku get used to controlling the quirk around her body. At first, it was difficult to keep the Full Cowling activated when he got attacked, but he was slowly getting used to it. Both of them were starting to increase with their quirks and techniques. Meanwhile Ochako was training with Gunhead for the entrance exam, learning some new techniques to go with her quirk.
Before they knew it, the day of the entrance exam had come. Izuku and Ochako were walking towards the entrance together. Izuku noticed Shoto who had a different hairstyle.
"Hey Shoto/Sho-kun!" Both of them said in unison.
Shoto smiled seeing his two friends approaching him.
"Well, I was wondering when you two would show up," he said, "I was worried you'd forget about the entrance exams."
"Wouldn't miss it for the world," Izuku told him, "We've just been training our quirks to the max and came up with some new techniques."
"Hey Uraraka, why don't you go on inside," Shoto said, "Midoriya and I need to discuss something."
Ochako nodded and went inside. As soon as she was out of sight, Shoto turned to Midoriya.
"So when are you gonna tell her?" he asked.
Izuku was confused. "Tell her what?" he asked.
"Midoriya, we've been friends since we were kids, and its obvious," Shoto said, "You have a thing for Uraraka."
Izuku started to blush.
"That face speaks for you," Shoto said as he chuckled, "Seriously though, you should hurry and ask her out before some other guy gets the chance. You two are obviously gaga over each other and if you don't see the signs then…."
"MOVE IT EXTRAS!" someone shouted as he pushed Izuku and Shoto out of the way.
The two of them looked to see a guy with blonde spiky hair. He seemed like the type of student nobody wanted to come across.
"Who was that?" Izuku asked.
"That's Katsuki Baugou, the so-called tough kid," Shoto said, "His quirk is explosions."
"Well it definitely suits him," Izuku commented.
Later on after the written portion, Izuku and the trio were in another room. One of the pro heroes Present Mic was giving a speech about the second portion of the exam.
"Alright fellas, its time for the second portion of the exam to begin!" Present Mic said, "Who all is excited!"
The examinees cheered.
"Now, here's how load down, there are a few robots scattered across this beautiful landscape disguised as a city," Present Mic explained, "Some robots are worth 1 point while others are worth more. You use your quirks to take them down and earn the most points in the time limit, ya dig?"
"Excuse me," a blue-haired boy said, "But on this pamphlet you overlooked a detail about the robots! This kind of action would tarnish U.A's reputation."
He then turned to Izuku who was muttering to himself about Present Mic.
"And you with the unruly hair, enough of the chattering!" the blue haired boy said, "IF you can't take this exam seriously then you should leave immediately!"
"HEY!" Shoto shouted, defending his friend, "That's enough!"
"Cool it blue-hair, we don't wanna cause a scene here," Present Mic said, "But that last robot you mentioned is basically a thwomp that could be anywhere."
"I see," the blue-haired boy said, "My apologies for interrupting."
"Now onto the main event!" Present mic said.
The students were sent to the busses and dropped off to their destination. As if by luck, Izuku, Ochako and Shoto were put in the same spot. As Izuku was doing some warm ups, some students got a look at him.
"Hey, isn't that the kid with the aura abilities?" asked one of them, "The one muttering about Present Mic?"
Izuku ignored them. He was determined to put his new techniques to good use and work hard to get into U.A. He saw Ochako warming up and decided to go and talk to her. Just as he was about to walk over, a hand stopped him.
"You wouldn't happen to be wanting to distract her from her duties would you?" someone asked.
It was the same blue-haired boy who called him out earlier.
"If I were you I would leave that girl alone, and mind your own business," he said, "People like you shouldn't even be allowed to take this exam."
He walked away. Izuku was clearly annoyed by him.
"He keeps opening his mouth and I'll give him a spirit punch right in the gut," Izuku said, walking away.
The Alarm went off signaling the exam beginning. Izuku, Ochako and Shoto split up and started finding robots. Izuku saw some one pointers and decided to take action. He channeled aura into his arms and fired a few aura spheres earning himself a few points. He decided to mix up his style a bit so he didn't use as much stamina.
More robots came and Izuku decided to use OFA. While using OFA, he was stronger than the average human being. He punched a robot hard, knocking it down. The blue-haired boy noticed how strong Izuku was and then smirked.
"I might have been wrong about this boy," he said, "He seems worthy to be an adversary of Tenya Iida."
Iida used his quirk and took out a few robots as well. Ochako was busy taking on a few robots on her own. She decided to use her quirk to the best of her abilities. She made a robot weightless and then swung something at it, earning some points.
Shoto had been using both fire and ice to take on an army of robots. Meanwhile Ochako was continuing to use her quirk to make robots float and then released them to fall, earning herself a few points. The three of them were giving it their all planning to walk to U.A together! As the examinees continued taking on robots to earn points they heard a big rumbling sound. Everyone looked up and noticed a giant robot stomping through the city.
"THE 0-PTR! RUUUUUN!"
Students started to run away. Ochako nearly tripped but quickly got back up. She then made herself weightless in order to speed up to her friends. Izuku thought this would be the best time to show off their super team move. He turned to Shoto and Ochako who nodded in agreement.
"Team move?" Izuku asked.
"Team move," Shoto and Ochako said in unison.
Shoto went first and started to freeze the robot as best as he could. Ochako took Izuku by the hand. She then made him weightless and started spinning him around. As soon as she had enough momentum, she threw Izuku into the sky. He clenched her fist and got ready to release a strong punch. Veins appeared on his hand and he threw his punch straight at the robot.
"SMAAAAAAAAAAAAAASH!"
The force was so strong it made the robot fall backwards destroying it. He then landed on the ground in a superhero pose.
As soon as the smoke cleared, people saw Izuku, Ochako and Shoto standing in victory. Izuku's arm was smoking from using more than his normal output, but he was ok, thanks to the healing from his aura. The exam had just ended.
