Disclaimer: I don't own Host Club or any of its characters, just borrowing them. I do of course own the ones I come up with.
The end childhood of Innocence
Warning: In this chapter someone comes out as gay. If you have a problem with this please just dont read it. It is something I have planned for this character since just after I created it. I hope you can accept it but if not then please just stop reading now because it is important to me and will continue to not only be a part of their storyline but the plot as a whole. I may also change the orientation of a host club member in the future. Not sure on that one yet. If at the end of the chapter you have any ideas of how their story should progress then please let me know. I hope you will keep an open mind and enjoy the story.
It's been a few months since Yui found out about Haruhi's little known secret and the group settled into a new routine near the end of the school year. Haruhi put together study schedules for everyone that worked around all their other activities. Yui was working extra hard on her final exams to make sure she got into Ouran. She didn't need a scholarship but she knew the school set a high standard for academics and she had spent most of her middle school years setting up the club so she followed her new schedule to a T and made sure to put emphasis on the subjects she was average in. She had Haruhi to help her with her computer class and Nari had quite the memory for history and dates so she went through everyone's history books and made flash card type sheets for everyone. Yui had some of the guys who were using volunteering for community service set up tutoring sessions on any testable subject that they could help the younger grades with. It was a big hit and many of the younger middle school students used it to avoid paying for lessons. They even had a few precocious elementary students show up hoping to be in a higher class the following year. Kage was finishing off the season a few weeks before finals and then spent his time split between helping with the tutoring sessions, running with Haruhi and studying himself. Nari was studying no more than usual, not particularly worried about her scores but spent a lot of time training with Ritsu hoping to start competing the following year.
Once finals had finished the group did whatever they could to spend as much time as possible together. They had spent more than a fair share of time at their café in a table near the front talking about everything from the next year and what high school would be like, to their personal pasts and even some very personal secrets. One very special conversion came about three weeks into the summer and the girls had realized that something had been off with Kage for a few days and decided to ask him. They knew he wasn't that open or social but they needed him to know they were there for him anytime anywhere. They were at the café in the morning trying to plan what to do the following weekend because they were all free for both days. Kage was staring out the window and barely responding so the girls knew it was time to say something but they weren't exactly sure how to start. Until finally Nari's patience ended and she yelled/blurted at him "dude what's wrong with you these days you've been totally out of it and we're all kind of sick of it." While also slapping his arm to get his attention
Slightly shocked he turns to the girls and realizes he hasn't been hiding it as well as he thought or at least to them. His parents hadn't noticed a thing. Though it was more likely that these girls though having been in his life only a little while knew him better than anyone else, Maybe even himself sometimes. (but that would be true for all of them) Knowing there is no escaping this he tries to put it all together in his head and figures a question to them may be the best way "Have any of you ever thought its weird that I'm really close with three but haven't tried to date any of you?"
The girls ponder on it for a while, and he sees for things piercing together for them but before he can relieved that they have figured it out Yui says "Not really, Nari is kind of scary and you too bicker like brother and sister, I'm way too passive to be your type and see you as a little brother despite the height, and i doubt that even if you had been interested in Haruhi you would have been stupid enough to do anything about it."
He stops and stares at her while processing her evaluation. Yui made a very valid point and it was almost impossible to dispute any of that though he could tell that Nari was thinking of ways to say she wasn't scary but was failing miserably by the look on her face. Sighing heavily he's about to try another approach when a look of quick realization sinks onto Haruhi's face and he knows she has figured it out. She looks at him and smiles, then she turns to Nari and gives her a look he couldn't quite place. Then after a second Nari's face changes and she smiles at him too. Slightly relieved that at least two of them get it, now he has to get Yui there. Haruhi and Nari look at him and hold their hands to pause him before he can say anything. Haruhi leans over to Yui and tells her something before she turns back to Kage and nods. Finally after a long silence Yui speaks up. "So you're gay."
Slightly taken aback by Yui's bluntness. He nods shyly at the trio in front of him expecting something. Not exactly sure what but it definitely is not what he got. Haruhi tells him that statistically one of them would be so she was kind of expecting it to be him. Nari asks him if there was anyone he wanted to go out with and if there anything she could do to help. Yui asks how long he has known and if he told anyone else. That reaction was the most shocking for him but it was clear from Nari and Haruhi's faces that they were curious as well.
He looks at the girls and slightly smiles realizing exactly why Yui asked. "I think I have known for a while but about 2 months ago one of the guys on the team was talking about asking out Nari and one of the guys hit him saying that we were dating. I straight out told him that I was 'most definitely not dating Nari, she is like any annoying little sister' and then he asked if I was dating either of you two and I said no. Then they asked me why and I said you were all like family to me and it would be awkward. Honestly i had thought about it before as well and that was always the answer I ended with but one of the other guys on the team said that we weren't always this close so there must have been a time when we first met that i wanted to ask one of you out. After that we all left the gym and I started thinking about when I first met each of you and what has happened since and realized the idea of dating anyone of you crossed my mind. But when i thought about if further there were a few people that i thought about dating when i first met them and they were both guys. One of the seniors from the team two years and then one of the guys who does tutoring for the school. It wasn't hard to track it from there. I think it was about 2 weeks after that before I could even say it to myself. And no, I haven't told anyone else. My parents don't know and probably won't for a while. None of the guys know, honestly I thought I was hiding it pretty well. But i guess I should have known i can't hide anything from you guys" He watched the girls as he was saying all of this and their faces don't change until he tells they are the first and only people he has told then they each break out into small smiles. He knew they were hanging onto this secret for him until he was ready for the world to know and until they would forever be pleased that they held that place in his heart and they each held his in theirs.
After that day each member of the little would see at least one person everyday, hoping to soak up as much time together as possible. Most weekends were spent doing group activities, like Zoo days (at least four different zoos), sporting events (martial arts tournaments, baseball games and a single golf game), volunteering at different shelters and community gardens and hanging out at different movie theatres or restaurants. They also spent a fair bit of time at the compound. Nari would train with Ritsu and their sensei, Haruhi and Kage would go for runes around the rack or the compound itself when it wasn't raining or too hot out. Yui spent some time trying to come up with a community outreach program that Kenji asked for with new recruits. She and Haruhi would meet once a week at the office that Haruhi had sequestered a few years ago and finalize schedules or confirm contacts. And when Yui was meeting with her Ojisan or one of the other members she would go through financial reports and different legal matters for the family. AS she was still trying to find her place she spent a fair bit of the summer in her office going over different aspects of not only their family but different positions that were held in other Yakuza families. She had done some research into what the matriarch of a Yakuza family did and some ran the compound, others helped raise the kids, some were even in charge of their clan's community communications. Thinking this might be hedging the right directions she asks Kenji if she can start looking at some of the compound expenses and legal issues with the community as well as help Yui with the outreach program. This is generally how it went for them. Working, training and fun trips.
At the end of summer their finally complete little was partially separated for a year and they knew that because Yui started at the high school it would take up a lot of her time. Ouran High school didn't have an established community service department or club so she planned to spend her first year setting it up then when the other three arrived they could team up again to make this a success as well. She wasn't going to the only one going to be busy. Kage had to prove himself to the Ouran scouts and had spent most if not all of his free time doing extra training. Haruhi had recently discovered her interest in hacking and was determined to do whatever she could to make sure the rest of them got in as well as Ritsu and one of his friends. She knew there was no way to force the issue and they generally accepted anyone who could afford the school but her main concern was herself and Nari. Ouran would have to let Ritsu or risk the family and Kage would be a steal for their baseball team. She on the other hand hasn't been publicly recognized as part of the family (her choice) and Nari's father had the means to send both hos girls but being from another country and his business being fairly new they might not want to risk the chance her the business failing and the daughters being linked to the school.
Nari for her part was doing a great job making a name for herself in the martial arts world. She had entered her first tournament at the beginning of the summer and has owned everyone she has entered since. Though most were lower level or beginning she was starting to gain some attention from some of the bigger training facilities in the city. About a third of the way through the school year she was approached about training at a family owned gym. At first she was a little concerned but her and Kage went to the gym they instantly recognized it as the gym owned and operated by the Morinozuka family. They would traditionally only train family members and friends or professionals and were actually known for turning down many students who wanted to be trained there. At her trip to the gym she met one the sensei's and asked they would invite her, very confused by the whole thing. As it turns out, one of her more recent wins was against a younger cousin of the family and the second son was in attendance as he was considering training her, but when she lost to Nari the boy changed his mind and had her watched at the next few matches to make sure it wasn't a fluke. When Nari continued to win he had the family send out an official invitation to train. Nari readily accepted and started training under Satoshi Morinozuka the following week. This was not only good for her training and wins but also an extra link for her to Ouran as Satoshi's older brother was a first year there and being an established athlete training under a family of masters would make her pretty hard to turn down.
Kage spent the year killing it on the field, not only winning every game but setting two new records for the school and one for the league. He was approached by a few high school scouts, even a few from sports academies, but was waiting to answer anyone until he heard from Ouran. His parents tried persuading him to accept one of the academies but he was able them back into waiting when he brought up the number of national team members for various sports had come out of Ouran. It eventually paid off when he got a letter in the mail from Ouran inviting him to attend their school and offering him a starting place on the baseball team. And with his acceptance followed Nari's letter a few days later. Also offering her a spot on the school's Kendo team, which of course she accepted with a promise from the school it wasn't a practice every day team as she had her personal training and a social life to keep up. Ritsu and his friend, had gotten his letter a while back, which they had expected.
Not all that was left was Haruhi. At the beginning of the school she took serious care of her hacking and found a few competitions online that she could enter and would be able to inform Ouran about without breaking any rules or laws. She won or placed in every contest and even won some money that she had donated to Yui's club at the school. She hoped with these competitions and her grades she would be fine but when she hadn't gotten her letter she started to worry so without telling her friends she hacked into the schools servers and found her file. It turns out she had been accepted but the letter was put on hold until they could verify all the contests were perfectly legal and that she was who she said she was. This was apparently double hard because a few years back she had asked her Oji Kenji if she could legally change her name. So on her School paperwork her name showed up as Haruhi Fujioka Kasanoda. Which Haruhi assumed led to the legality issue. As she was about to look more into the inquiry and check she was kicked out of the server, which was an entirely new experience for her and also meant someone knew she was there. Which definitely wasn't good. Haruhi knew the security was put in place by Hitachiin Cyber Security and knew only three people had the access needed to kick her out. The CEO Hayato Hitachiin, the schools President Yuzuru Suoh, and the security firm's head of interference whose name is yet to be discovered. All of these people discovering her would be bad for her admission, as her letter hadn't been sent out no one knows she was accepted and they could reverse the decision without anyone knowing. Haruhi is sure this is the end of her chances to get into Ouran and spends the next couple of days sulking around the compound trying to figure out to tell her the impeccable mistake she has made. But instead she gets a letter in the mail from Ouran. Or more specifically The president's office.
Sorry for the cliff hanger a bit here but I wanted to figure out how I want the next part to go. Don't worry Haruhi will definitely be attending Ouran and she will still BUMP the vase.
Thank you all for your patience in this story. I recently started working a second job and have little time left to do anything and have little inspiration lately. But good news is on the horizon. I have a week vaca coming up and plan to get a bunch of writing done.
And about Kage, like I said at the beginning i knew form early i wanted him to be gay, so i did it. I do have someone in mind for him but until the time gets closer I'm not gonna say anything. If you guys have any ideas of just things you want to see please let me know.
One last thing I am looking for Betas for my stories, so if any of you know anyone or are interested yourself please let me know. Hope you enjoy the story and have an amazing week.
