Two weeks had passed since the interview with Lois, and the sinister debut of Ultra Humanite. In those two weeks, The supervillain hadn't made another peep just yet. But what had been odd, was that there were reported robberies at both Schnee Dust Company and Luthor Corp. The robberies were done in such a manner that no one even knew what was going on until the morning when inventory was checked, and it was missing items.
Such was the news that a certain radio jockey had gotten ahold of. Leslie Willis smirked as she read all the papers. Leslie was a woman that was short with fair skin, pitch-black hair, dark eyes, and loved to wear black lipstick, wearing a pair of trendy black glasses, and wearing combat boots, stockings, and a black leather jacket over her favorite crop top shirt that advertised her show. Tch Superwoman? More like Super loser. Who does she think she is? That she can just come into my city, and take away my thunder? Not a chance. She had been at her job for a long time, Ozpin was easy enough to take jabs at, as well as that Iron Douche. Heck, all the huntsmen were easy targets, especially that dusty Qrow. But then She came along, acting like some paragon of good. It made the electrifying host want to puke, there wasn't anything good or decent in anyone. Somewhere, somehow, people always had something to hide. That so-called girl scout was no exception in the self-proclaimed number one DJ under the heavens! "What's up listeners! Livewire here from the Daily Planet Radio. Here to give you the music you crave, and tell you the ugly truth that the bloody overlords don't want you to know." She inserted a little disk, and tunes began playing. "First up, let's talk more about the Woman of Tomorrow. Superwoman. I don't know about you, but I think she's more of a science experiment. After all, it seems fishy to me that she gave some piece of clothing to Star Labs. And now they gain popularity." She scoffed, letting the words hang in the air. "And even though that hussie, Lois Lane has been reporting on this gal. I still don't trust that the chick has told us everything she can do, x-ray vision, heat vision, super breath, super strength, flight, and is very fast. For all, we know she could have the ability to shoot miniature superwomen out of her hand." Leslie laughed at the image. "Stay tuned for more of the hard questions." Ah, it felt good to be the electric queen of the world.
Star Labs
"Why do you listen to that garbage?" Lois asked Jimmy. The two intrepid employees of the daily planet were visiting Star Labs. Jimmy was shorter than Lois, having ginger hair, and a freckled face, and warm brown eyes.
"I like the music. Sure she's kinda jerky, but she has great taste in music." Jimmy said with a chuckle, adjusting his red bow tie. He never left home without one, because bow ties were cool. Wearing it over a white button-up shirt, and plaid pants and Jimmy was… dorky but humble. "Besides she sounds more raving than anything to me." They entered the offices.
"Hey, Smallville here?" Lois called out for Ruby. Jimmy sighed, he knew that Lois loved giving nicknames to people. She always called him Kid, she called Lisa the Boss, and as for the Luthor kid, well he couldn't say that word out loud. Out of context, it would be quite rude.
"Yes, Lois?" Ruby asked, struggling to hold three printers, her glasses slipping. Lois rolled her eyes as she helped the smaller girl carry the printers, by plucking one from the top.
"Really Smallville, you gotta stop accepting all this grunt work." Lois shook her head. "And kid, get off that phone and carry one of these things." Jimmy gulped, turning off Livewire's show, and picked up a printer, the trio walked down to the storage room. "So Smallville, know if they got anything new figured about Superwoman?" Lois asked, and Jimmy resisted the urge to exhale, he should've known Lois wanted to keep digging for her story.
"Oh… we did examine it. And nothing on it matches anything from the elemental table we got, so it's definitely not from Remnant." Ruby said, struggling to shift the printer in her arms.
"So you're saying… she really was telling the truth. She really is from another planet," Lois said in awe. "I will be… I didn't think we had anything else besides Remnant." Lois' eyes were sparkling as she pondered what was waiting beyond the planet that was a speck in the vast universe. Ruby and Jimmy chuckled in awe, it was hard to think that Lois wasn't that much older than either of them. She was only 19 years old, though one wouldn't think it with the way she carried herself. "Uh sorry. So what else have you crazy scientists had in the woodworks anyhow?" Lois asked.
"Hmm? Well right now, we're just doing some work here and there. Between some IT, we're still trying to get funds for various projects. Nothing concrete that I can really talk about. Sorry." Ruby shrugged apologetically, setting down the printer she had been carrying. "Besides that, apparently like the radio DJ says, Superwoman has given us a lot of good press, though I am pretty sure that's more due to Lois choosing Star Labs." Ruby finished with a shrug.
"Eh she suggested it, and they were closest. No big deal." Lois deflected the praise, despite the apparent pride in her voice. She put down her printer at the same time as Jimmy and Ruby.
"So these printers are busted or something?" Jimmy asked.
"Yeah, the dust cartridges in them were past their expiration date, overdue," Ruby said with a wince as she began taking the printers apart with her tools. "But we can still salvage some of the parts. Versatile for other experiments." Ruby hummed as she took out the rubber grip pads of all three printers. She deposited them into their appropriate box, labeled rubber, there were various other boxes labeled for the kind of material that could be recycled.
"So I looked you up Smallville. You got a sister that goes to Beacon yeah?" Lois said, and Jimmy facepalmed at his friend's blunt demeanor.
"That's right. Been meaning to check on her, just been busy you know." Ruby said, a little sad. "I hear she's got a great team." Ruby wondered how her sister was doing, it wasn't like her sister felt the need to keep in touch with her. And Ruby didn't like to push her for details, she had learned that just because she could always listen in on Yang all the time, didn't mean she always should.
"Should think so. The girl has a schnee on her team, not the only rich kid to make it into Beacon. But who wants to talk about that Luthor kid?" Lois dismissively waved her hand.
"Alexander Rex Luthor," Jimmy said with a bit of apprehension. "Didn't you use to date him?" Jimmy asked and received an icy glare from the reporter.
"Yes but it didn't work out, I dumped him," Lois said with a huff. The trio headed back upstairs. "Besides mark my words, he isn't a huntsman for the sake of nobility. That curly-haired two face is up to something nefarious." Lois said waving her finger around. "But the reason I am asking about your sister is I want to do more than just cover Superwoman news. Sure she is the greatest meal ticket, and I even admire the girl scout. But as much as I don't like Huntsmen, I can't just ignore them. So think you can do me a favor Smallville and get an interview with your sister and her friends?" Lois asked with her most charming smile, Ruby sweated at Lois' request.
"My sister doesn't really like reporters," Ruby replied.
"She hasn't met me," Lois replied back full of swagger.
"I think that will only make things worse," Jimmy said under his breath and flinched at Lois' disapproving gaze.
"What was that?" She asked her voice icy cold.
"Uh, I believe that it's time for your morning coffee. Yep. Morning Coffee, the usual, triple espresso, no sugar." Jimmy ran off before Lois could get another word in edgewise.
"By the way Smallville thanks for fixing my computer last week." Lois thanked the smaller girl.
"It was no trouble." Ruby chuckled. Like really it was no trouble, the power cable just needed to be replaced, I think Lois kicked it one too many times. Ruby decided to not tell Lois this, as the star reporter didn't seem to like hearing that she had anger issues, it reminded her a lot of Yang in many ways. Though there was a difference, as much as Ruby loved her sister, Lois seemed more focused on her anger, she was always chasing a story no matter what.
"So Smallville, you grew up in a family of hunters. Yet chose to become a scientist. And I am sure you already gave your boss a reason. But I want to know, what was it like at Tomorrow Academy? You don't hear much about it. Make any friends there?" Lois could always be counted on to be looking for a story anywhere at all, no matter how small.
"Well, there was one friend I had…" Ruby began, but then her super-hearing picked up an intense sound, as a local bank was being robbed.
"Xiaolong. I need these papers taken to finance." Dr. Stone butted in, handing her some papers. Ruby was thankful for the chance she needed. With an apologetic goodbye to Lois, Ruby dashed off to the department, moving as fast as she could if she were normal. Dropping the papers off, she walked around, taking out her scroll. Once she was in the elevator, all it took was a click on an app she had developed. While she wasn't a super hacker or anything close to it, all she really was doing was reapplying some old footage of her walking around the labs, and back to her cubicle, where it would then be on a loop. Flying out of the elevator, using the emergency exit, and closing it behind her, she flew out to the roof, thankful there weren't any cameras there.
Beacon Academy
Yang was chilling in the cafeteria, rocking to a song from Livewire, nodding her head to the beat. She might have a stick up her butt about my sis, but her music taste is off the charts! Yang heard a commotion, and looked up from her music, Cardin was bullying a smaller rabbit faunus. "How awful," Blake said with a dark look, Weiss didn't seem to care enough to pay any attention. Team JNPR seemed lost in their own world, Yang was going to get up and march over there to beat Cardin's skull in. Living with her sister had taught her that she couldn't just let stuff slide when she could do something about it. But before she could she heard a chair sliding out from next to her, and to her surprise, her team leader was already walking over to Cardin before she could.
Lex was the same height as Cardin but didn't nearly possess the same build as the bully. Yet he walked with a confidence that made him seem much bigger. He smoothed back his curly red hair, and his piercing green eyes held a fire in them. "Mr. Winchester was it? May I ask what you're doing?" Lex began his voice cold and even. Cardin stopped pulling on the poor girl's ears and looked at the leader of Team RWBY.
"I am just playing with an animal, none of your concern rich kid," Cardin said with a dismissive smirk, and his team members who were more like cronies, laughed at his comment.
"It is my concern," Lex replied back. "After all, we are both Huntsman. Your actions reflect poorly on everyone here." Lex watched impassively as Cardin stood up from his bench.
"Ooo scary. What are you going to do about it?" Cardin crossed his arms with defiant confidence.
"Hmm, Winchester. An old name yes?" Lex began, taking the bully by surprise. The boy could only nod in confusion before he could ask what the heck Lex was talking about. Lex continued. "Fought in the great war, and for a time, enjoyed quite the lucrative business arrangement with the SDC, made plenty of Lien to fill your coffers with the weapons arrangement." Lex chuckled. "But then you've fallen from grace, after all, who needs a weapons manufacture when Atlas is the most advanced city in the world, far above some small-time backwater house." Cardin snarled and lunged at Lex, and to everyone's surprise. Lex caught the fist and kicked Cardin's shin. The bigger boy was brought to his knees, and then his arm was twisted around his back. In the span of a few seconds, Cardin couldn't get up. He felt like his arm was going to be twisted off at any moment. "And your team are just lackeys, smaller families." Lex chuckled looking at Cardin's teammates who were unsure of what to do. "You're so tiny, that it would be child's play to buy out your house and their houses. But do you know why no one has bought you out?" Lex asked and when Cardin didn't answer, a simple amount of pressure made the big boy scream.
"Okay, why?!" Cardin seethed out in frustration.
"Because you're not worth it." Lex then knocked Cardin out with a single punch to the bulkier lad's face. Slamming his head into the table. The rabbit faunus girl stood there with a mixture of fear and admiration. Lex turned to walk away, going back to his table.
"Th-Thank you." The girl stammered out.
"Velvet was it? You're a second year, are you not? You shouldn't allow him that kind of power over you." Lex said bluntly to the girl. "But you're welcome all the same, just don't let it happen again. You're better than him." Lex then sat back down at his table, not noticing the small smile and blush Velvet had as she left the cafeteria with her food. She couldn't wait to tell Coco about a new friend, though she hoped Coco wouldn't get too protective over her… again… or try to pair her off with someone… again.
"That was nice of you Lex," Yang said with a proud grin. Lex shrugged at the compliment.
"Anyone could've done it." Weiss snapped, still peeved at being on the same team as Lex.
"Now Weiss, no need to be so… chilly," Lex smirked as Yang whooped at the pun. Even Blake cracked a small smile, and even Weiss had to admit… it was a good one, but she was still mad at Lex, turning her head away in a huff. The rest of the lunch period was calm enough, with Cardin getting dragged out by his teammates. Then Yang was excited when she got great news.
"Oh hell yeah!" Yang fist-pumped the air. "Guess what suckers. I just want some tickets to Livewire's show." Yang held up the scroll teasingly to everyone. Her team wasn't as enthusiastic as she would've liked. "Oh c'mon do you know how rare it is to get some tickets to one of these? C'mon let's go!" Yang got as many of them into a big hug as possible. "Think of it as team building." She was grinning.
"I suppose you have a point." Lex conceded with a shrug, it wasn't like he had any plans for the night.
"Okay." Blake held a thumbs-up, and Weiss reluctantly nodded.
"This is going to be the best thing ever!" Yang was excited.
The Next Day
The clouds overhead were dark and stormy, some would call Leslie insane for wanting to hold a show out in such dangerous weather. But to her, they were all cowards. "Leslie I don't think you should do this." Her boss had disapproval in his voice, usually, the man would fold to whatever she asked. Since when did he grow a spine? She thought to herself in annoyance.
"It will be fine, a little rain will never hurt anyone." She waved him off, stepping out onto the stage. "HELLO EVERYBODY! ARE YOU READY?!" The chanting of Livewire was all the affirmation she needed. The girl got onto the stage, her hair drenched with rain as the thunderous noise of her music washed over the masses. "They say we can't be out here, they say we can't talk negatively about them. I say we can do whatever the hell we want! Are you with me?!" The people continued to cheer loudly, even as lightning and thunder continued to strike in the background.
Yang was in the audience jamming to the music, having put a golden raincoat over her usual clothes. The rest of her team was more modest, sitting on benches, using umbrellas. Lightning continued to dance around them, getting dangerously close. And some of the audience was starting to get concerned. Yang looked at the lighting and wondered just what was going to happen. After one particular flash of lighting, Glynda Goodwitch had appeared on stage. "That's quite enough young lady, you're going to get somebody hurt," Glynda said sternly.
"Oh look who it is, the big man's top dog here to put us down." Livewire made a rude gesture. At that moment, lightning struck near the crowd, and the massive lights began to fall down on the screaming people. Glynda reached out, the falling debris glowed purple as it halted in the air. Glynda struggled, sweating pouring down her brow. People were screaming and then a red blur began dashing through the crowds, escorting them away from the danger. "Superwoman?" Glynda asked as the woman appeared on stage.
"I was in the neighborhood. Thanks for stopping the debris." Superwoman smiled and then her silver eyes turned hard as she looked at the radio DJ. Crossing her arms, she was none too pleased. "What were you thinking?" She asked Leslie and the radio personality derisively shook her head.
"I am just giving the people what they want. They should be thanking me. Most live sad empty lives without me." She smirked in smug self-assurance.
"That's it!" The loud angry voice of her boss piped up. "I am sick of looking after your washed-out ass." The man snapped at her. "I took you in when no one else would after you failed Beacon Academy. But now?" The man turned to Superwoman with a smile. "If Superwoman hadn't shown up to save my wife, she could have died." The man snarled at Leslie. The woman backed up from the towering man. "YOU'RE FIRED!" The man screamed at the top of his lungs.
"YOU!" Leslie screeched at Superwoman, the ex Radio DJ pointed her finger at the hero. "THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT! IF YOU HADN'T SHOWN UP NONE OF THIS WOULD HAVE HAPPENED!" Leslie stalked towards the young woman, and in the faint light, The headmistress noticed that her palms were crackling with potent electricity.
"Child that is enough!" Glynda held Leslie in a powerful telekinetic grip. "This is why you didn't make it in Beacon. You're reckless, now we're going to get out of the rain, and calm down and-" Anything she might have said was cut off by a sudden strike of lighting, Superwoman quickly lifted both Glynda and the Radio Boss off the ground, as Lighting arced everywhere from the point of impact… which was Leslie Willis. The girl howled in what could only be described as agony. By the time the smoke cleared, instead of a charred body like they were expected. Leslie was on the ground, her hair permanently spiked up, shock white, and her skin that had been fair was now a pale blue-white. "Her semblance… it allows her to manipulate electricity including her own body's electricity. But this… her semblance must have evolved to help her survive." Glynda postulated as Superwoman put them down.
"We need to get her medical attention," Superwoman said with a concerned expression on her face. Lighting almost struck the same place, but Superwoman got in the way, the lighting not even coming close to harming her. Afterward, it was time to move the recovering ex-radio jockey to the hospital.
One Hour Later - Dini Hospital
Groaning could be heard, as Leslie woke from the lighting. She gasped as she saw the color of her skin. She screamed as she noticed her appearance in the windows. She tried to yank off the instruments attached to her when something amazing happened. Electricity surged from the machinery, and she felt good. No! Better than Good! It was like being hooked on her favorite ice cream. The door opened at that moment. "Hey buzz off creep!" She yelled and thunder exited from her outstretched hand, the doctor narrowly dodged as the door was destroyed. The ex DJ was amazed at the abilities she had going for her and smirked deviously. That freak lightning bolt must have juiced up my semblance. Wonder what else I can do? Getting up from her bed, she played around the room, noting she didn't even have to directly touch electronics as the power came flowing out from wall outlets and the very tv itself. When she wiggled her hands around, she made a sound of awe as she noticed her hand had partially become electricity. "That's new~" She grinned as she focused the whole feeling through her body, and then turning into electricity she soared through the power outlets by the time hospital security arrived.
Faster than she had ever traveled, Leslie was now at the CCT Tower, overlooking the entire kingdom. She grinned wickedly, at the touch of her fingertips. She could control everything, she could feel it in her veins, which were no longer flesh and blood. She was more than human now, she felt like a god. Controlling the Cross Continental Transmit System, yes everyone would be at her mercy. She cackled loudly as she dug herself back into it. And then all across Remnant, her face was plastered on every Scroll. "Hellooooooo Remnant. You're probably only used to having heard my beautiful voice. But you can call me Livewire, or if you're feeling particularly grateful. Empress. This isn't a prank or a joke, I can control everything you own. And here's how it's going to work if you don't want me to blast you all back to the stone age. Then you better listen up." Livewire grinned, she couldn't see everything but she knew they were panicking. "One. Tell that super jerk to take a hike. And Two you're going to pay me for the privilege of using tech, make sure to make the right choice~" Livewire cackled as she released her hold on every screen in Remnant.
But her joy was short-lived as she felt pain. She felt… hungry. "Damn it… what?" Livewire desperately ran on instinct, appearing in a random part of the city, then she gripped a neon sign that was outside a store, it's power energized her as she fed off of it. Then I will just need to keep juiced up, and besides not like those Huntsmen or that girl scout can stop me. Not if they don't want their precious communications to go down. Livewire was smirking as she continued to suck more juice from the city, and then she thought of her old boss and decided that perhaps she should pay the man a visit.
So she turned to electricity once again and zoomed through a vast ocean of electrical currents, it was almost overwhelming being part of something so vast. But she managed to retain her sense of individuality as she emerged at the address of her ex-boss' address. She smirked walking through the house, the lights were off. Heh so even after I become what is essentially a goddess, the man is too comfortable. She could make out his faint outline sitting in a recliner, with only one candle lit as he read a book. Potent electrical energy arced through Livewire's fingers, and they shot out at the man. And it would have been the end for him, but at the last moment, the girl scout, the woman of steel, the champion of tomorrow had leaped in front of the man, taking the full brunt of Livewire's vengeance.
Ruby stumbled back from the attack. Huh… I actually felt that… it actually hurt. Ruby made sure to stand where she was as the man behind her ran for the exit, Ruby leaped in front of another zap of lighting, gritting her teeth. Earlier that lighting bolt didn't do a thing to me, which means only one thing, it's something to do with her semblance. Ruby grimaced as she could feel her muscles tighten ever so slightly, she could still move. But there was definitely some pain involved. The villainess cackled at the way the woman of steel's face contorted.
"Aww, what's the matter super jerk? Are you hurting? Hmm, wonder if I can give you a heart attack!" Livewire poured more energy, constantly pushing Superwoman back against the man's desk. Think Ruby, think. She's made of electricity. Ruby tried to think, but the constant barrage wasn't helping. She could still move but was slowed down. "Dang it…" The barrage of lighting stopped, as Livewire seemed tired. "You got lucky this time." Livewire cursed as she leaped into a power socket, vanishing before the slowed down Ruby could catch her.
This was dumb of me, I came into this situation unprepared. I don't know if she could have killed me, but what I do know is that I gotta do better. But… I am going to need some rubber. Ruby's mind clicked back to yesterday. Star Labs! Ruby knew her boots were made of good rubber, but she needed a full-body suit, that way at least she could withstand the punishment from Livewire's semblance. No… that's not good enough, I also have to figure out how to capture her. I can't let someone else escape like Ultra Humanite did. With that thought in mind, Ruby after catching her breath flew out of the house and went onward to Star Labs.
Everyone's jaws dropped when they saw the woman of tomorrow touch down at the front door of Star Labs. "Hello," Ruby said with a smile, Dr. Stone stepped forward.
"Hello… Superwoman… or do you prefer Lin?" The doctor asked the woman that came from beyond the stars.
"Either works. And… I was wondering if it's not too much trouble, could I use your facilities? Livewire needs to be stopped and I have the ideas I need to beat her. But I need the resources and tools, so may I?" Ruby asked politely, somehow managing to remain calm in front of her boss.
"I… yes. What do you need?" Silas knew he shouldn't be letting some stranger walk into his lab and go around messing with things. But he knew two things at that moment, Livewire was a monster that could cripple them all if the CCT was damaged beyond repair, and two Superwoman was much more trustworthy than that villainess.
"I am going to need some rubber and plenty of it. Then I am going to need some time to create something that can detain Livewire." Superwoman walked into the laboratory with impressive confidence. It made sense that an alien, like her, was more advanced than anything they had.
"Maybe something that can insulate electricity? Perhaps a dust mixture? Earth and Water dust combined with some component compounds could make an all-purpose insulation material." Silas suggested as he kept pace with the smaller woman.
"That's what I was thinking, the only thing to consider is the method of delivery. First I need to weaken her enough, which could take time. Which is why I need the rubber." Ruby was already fast at work as she crushed and molded the rubber into what she needed it to be, a full-body rubber suit, now the tricky part of making it look like a second layer, that way Livewire could be fooled.
"You obviously can't carry the device with you. So what if we deliver it to you, or let you know where it is?" Silas suggested. Ruby thought about it, the storm outside was raging. That would only give Livewire a bigger advantage. She didn't want to drag anyone into her fight. "We won't get involved too much, just here let me show you something I've been working on." Silas presented her with a radio. "We've been working on new types of frequencies, something to upgrade the CCT with. Though I hope after this, they will finally take my word, and actually, replace it with a more reliable system." Silas pressed the button and Ruby blinked as she heard the frequency, Silas looked at it though, not hearing a thing.
"You can't hear that?" Ruby asked him. Silas shook his head. "Wow, that could be useful. Alright, just one thing." Ruby took some paper and began drawing at fast speed, drawing schematics for the subduing weapon. "Okay, I am going to go after Livewire. If everything goes well, meet me at Schuester Avenue. You should be able to spot me." Ruby said leaving the papers, and then with her suit finished, she put it over herself, and from a distance, she would look the same. It would only be on closer inspection that one would notice that she looked more rubbery, shinier, but thanks to some dust crystals and other chemicals the rubber bodysuit would keep her safe.
Livewire cackled as she appeared on screens yet again. "You folks really don't know how to listen, do you? Ah well….time's u-" Livewire looked up as in the sky, Superwoman floated there.
"Me and you Livewire. Let's settle this." The woman of steel landed on the streets of Vale.
"After last time? Ah well, take a good look viewers. She's gonna be barbeque." Livewire snickered as she appeared in a shop, taunting the superwoman. Ruby frowned and then dashed inside, wincing when Livewire shot at the door, destroying it. Ruby dodged the blast of lighting, it was fast, and it almost grazed her. But she managed to keep going, Ruby admitted she had never truly tested the limits of her speed. But right now that wasn't important. She closed the distance between her and Livewire. Grateful that the shop was abandoned, Livewire cackled as she spread arcing electricity everywhere, going in all directions. But when the lighting hit Superwoman, the rubber held together and she was unaffected. Livewire bawked as Superwoman closed the distance, and landed a solid hit across Livewire's jaw, sending her flying through several walls. "Y-You hit me? YOU HIT ME!" Livewire screamed, blasting more electricity at Ruby. I got her on the ropes. Livewire zipped to the nearest power outlet, and Ruby stayed still as she focused on listening for Livewire. Hearing her cussing a few blocks away, Ruby immediately dashed over there.
"That's enough Livewire," Superwoman said her arms crossed, and the ex DJ cussed profusely at how the Kryptonian had shown up nearly instantly where she was. She hadn't even gotten the chance to absorb any energy.
"Go screw yourself!" Livewire shot more electricity out at her. Ruby closed the gap, and punched Livewire, staggering the woman. Just a little longer, she's weakening. Ruby thought to herself as the woman seemed to be on the verge of a breakdown. "WHY WON'T YOU DIE?!" She screeched gripping onto Ruby, pouring as much electricity as she could into the woman of steel, but all it did was leave singe marks in the rubber suit. "You...cheated.." She was exhausted and turned to electricity running again. Ruby noted that the rain had stopped outside, so at the least, she didn't have to worry about freak lighting strikes again. Livewire would likely get desperate and followed her screams. Ruby kept up with her, constantly fighting her, she knew her rubber suit wasn't going to be able to take too much punishment for longer. So she waited for the right moment when Livewire seemed tired and then she grabbed onto the girl and moved as fast as possible knocking Livewire outside, towards the area where Star Labs were waiting with the subdue weapon she had designed.
It was a simple design. It looked like a simple sniper rifle, but the unique feature was the ammunition. Through a combination of dust mixtures, the bullets did two things, first in conjunction with the marker laser, which reacted with the aura of the target, it alone would make the bullets easy to track the aura of said users, but the bullet was built differently, it was designed to explode just a foot from impact, it would release a covering substance, that would start out in particle form before cleanly wrapping around the target.
However Livewire wasn't going to go that easily, she bolted out of the grip, and landed on the rooftop. Narrowly being missed by both the marker laser and the bullet. "What are you going to do, super jerk?" She asked mockingly.
Ruby landed and thought of what she could do. If she didn't handle this right away, Livewire was going to get away. Wait… she's made of electricity It clicked on her as she tore off the head portion of her suit.
"So you give up?" Livewire mocked, and then blinked as Superwoman's eyes glowed silver. "Or are you going to put me down? Well, try it! YOU ALREADY RUINED MY LI-" She was cut off as Superwoman blew icy cold breath, mixed in with her heat vision, and the result was a massive spray of water sending Livewire back. She screeched as she short-circuited, and lost consciousness. Superwoman quickly dried her off, and then with a successful shot, Livewire was securely wrapped up in the specialized ammunition.
"Thank you Superwoman," Silas said, putting back his hood from his raincoat. "That should take care of her. I am sure we can take it from here." That was a lie on his part, he knew full well that Ozpin would want a say in this matter.
"It was no trouble. Just… don't be too harsh on her. She's had a rough time." Ruby said with an empathetic look, sure the woman was a jerk. But on some level she could understand her, and who knows maybe she could do something better later on in life. "I gotta go." And with that she flew up and away, leaving things behind as Livewire was hauled off to prison.
Beacon Academy
Jaune felt defeated, Cardin had found out how he had lied his way into Beacon. And now he was nothing more than a lackey for Cardin. But Jaune could handle all of that, were it not for the fact that Pyrrha was mad at him. And she has every right to be mad at me. I spat in her face and turned down her help. I am such a stubborn idiot. Jaune was sulking outside of the door to his team's room, wondering just how much more he could possibly screw things up. He heard a lick and looked in front of him as Lex stepped out. "Oh… hey Lex." Jaune still wasn't sure what to think of the guy, he seemed decent enough, but he just couldn't shake off the feeling something was wrong with the guy, a stubborn feeling in his gut. Even though I don't have any right to be judging someone.
"Jaune. Why are you out so late?" Lex asked pocketing his scroll.
"Oh you know, just relaxing while I can. Busy day tomorrow." Jaune nervously tried to move on from the conversation.
"So why out here? And not inside with your team? Did something happen?" Lex asked, still standing over the blond.
"It's just… things aren't going so well. I am not exactly the best leader." Jaune said deflating.
"I would have to disagree," Lex said sitting down in front of Jaune. "When that deathstalker attacked you and your team. Any other person would've been lost, and sure you were more on your feet than deliberate in your strategy. But I've seen you in class, you have a good head for strategy. So what's really going on?" Lex asked, his green eyes seemed to pierce into Jaune's very soul.
"I messed up… I am a fraud and a liar." Jaune said his eyes looking down at the ground in shame.
"And I take it… that Cardin found this out?" Jaune's head shot up in shock. "It wasn't that hard to figure out that something was going on there. And Arc." Lex put a hand on Jaune's shoulder, and Jaune felt so much smaller than the redhead like he was being scolded by his big sisters. "I could easily destroy Winchester, make him regret that he ever was born. But… it's going to be up to you to solve your own problem." The squeeze was a bit harsh and Jaune resisted the urge to wince. "And I would recommend that you get your other priorities in line, you're the leader of your team. You have to be better than what you think you are, and everything that you do affects them. No more than that, you have to show them the way. So pick yourself up, confront Winchester, and be the better man than you were when you came here. I would hate to see you fall short of your legacy." Jaune was slapped a little in the face, and then Lex turned around and walked back into his room. He's right, I gotta be better. Jaune gulped thinking of how he would confront Cardin, all he knew was that he had to do it soon. Was I wrong about Lex?
The Bathroom of Team RWBY
Lex sat down in the bathroom, and after taking a gadget out of his pocket to muffle his noise in the room. He took out his scroll. "Log 23: Today provided quite fruitful. The experimentations on forced Semblance Evolution loosely based on the good Dr. Merlot's Grimm mutations proved quite successful. Leslie Willis or as she calls herself Livewire, managed to survive the experiment. And as a bonus, the experimental stealth tech managed to perform admirably. As I theorized, Superwoman can't see through Lead. And combined with sound damping so long as she wasn't aware, then we could watch for her. This could prove useful in the future, provided we can get past the limitation of stationary drawbacks. However, this wasn't without cost, surprisingly the woman of steel has shown that she is far from a musclehead. And she may have gained allies in Star Labs, this alone wouldn't be much concern, however, they are strictly independent and have past connections to Atas and Pietro Poledina. This could be troublesome down the line." Lex paused his recording when he heard a knocking on the door.
"You done in there yet? Gotta shower." Came the prissy voice of Weiss.
"In a moment Ms. Schnee," Lex smirked, he could already feel the girl's glare and hear her huffing in rage. When he heard her footsteps withdraw, he continued his recording. "My alibi for Beacon continues to proceed as normally. Everything is going according to plan. Though I do wonder if I can get the Schnee on my side before the final phase. We will see." He finished his recording. Things were going according to plan, all that was needed was for Mercy to continue to keep tabs on Torchwick and his little minion. It is rather concerning that a third party wishes anarchy on Vale, but either Superwoman or the Huntsmen will deal with it sooner or later. For now, I must continue phase one.
Elsewhere
A woman in a red dress melted her disposable scroll. Her rage was palpable, the whole room felt hotter than a summer day in Vacuo. "Torchwick and Neo have vanished, they have betrayed us. No matter, we will have to do things, the old-fashioned way. One way or another." The woman said grimly as her cohorts gulped in fear, and from the immense heat.
