Chapter five
Life in 'polis' tower was way better than in their motel outside of town. Everyone didn't question them any longer as they were guests of Heda's. Clarke loved being in the commander's chambers. Lexa was different when it was just the two of them. Clarke tried to stay away from Titus as good as she could she still hadn't told Lexa how the bald man threatened her. Raven had found her niche as she helped the grounders work on projects for the Heda. She and a grounder Sasha were getting real close. Octavia and her bugged for information on the two daily. As did O and Raven bug her on information about Lexa and her.
"Have y'all done the nasty in that big bed chamber?" Raven half teased half wanted to know. Clarke shook her head." We have kissed. Lexa is a nice gentlewoman."
Octavia rolled her eyes ." Come on C you have to be doing something in that bed other than sleeping."
Clarke shook her head." Lexa sleeps on her couch most nights or is in meetings all night."
Octavia frowned." Boring C get with it. Make that Queen take you out."
Clarke laughed." We are going out later she's going to teach me how to use a sword."
Raven shook her head." We will be there too. Sasha said Lexa requested it."
Octavia kissed both ladies on the cheek before excusing herself.
"Where is she going in such a hurry?" Clarke asked curious.
"She is going to see Lincoln off as he goes patrol. Indra told her she had to let him do his duty or she cut her head off. So she's been hanging out with Indra."
Clarke noticed Raven getting ready." I thought I had you today?"
Raven smiled." You do. I am taking you somewhere Sasha showed me the other day. You can't tell your hottie commander though or Sasha could get into trouble. It's off Polis grounds."
Clarke remembered commander warning her about other clans and how they like to travel through the woods to try and attack her. They wanted her position but no one has been strong enough to actually get to her. Thank the heavens Clarke had thought as Lexa explained to her why it was so important to be on alert and what she did it for. Her people.
"Don't worry Raven I won't say anything about Sasha. Let me go grab the knife Lexa gave me just in case we come into any trouble."
Clarke ran back to the commander's room to shockingly find Lexa.
"I have been waiting for you."
Clarke felt bad." I didn't know you were here you left so early."
Lexa kissed the blonde who shut up instantly melting in to the kiss. " Wow!" Clarke smiled thankful for the kiss.
"What was the for? I mean I am not complaining." Lexa blushed for the first time and Clarke couldn't breathe this woman was absolutely drop dead perfect. No one got to see this side of the commander and she was in heaven. "I needed that." Clarke blushed herself." I always need that." She whispered.
"I have meetings all morning but will be at our training later. What are you going to do today?"
I explained Raven had some plans that I was going to go along for."
"Watch yourself Klarke. I can have Ryder and Lincoln go with you." She offered.
Clarke shook her head." I believe Raven and I can handle today on our own."
Lexa couldn't contain her feelings around the blonde she wanted to be closer to her and know
Everything about her. She hadn't felt this way since Costia. Pushing the name back in her head for another days conversation she sent a silent prayer to the heavens before paying attention to the blonde that was going on about Octavia and Lincoln and Sasha and Raven. After another kiss Lexa open the door to find two of her men standing waiting patiently as Titus who was ready to give her a lecture she could see it in her advisor's eyes. She hissed a little under her breath at the man who was giving Klarke an displeasing look.
Clarke excused her self and Lexa watched as the blonde bounced to her friends stay room. "Heda I warn you Clarke is trouble. She is an outsider. You are getting too close." Lexa turned to her advisor." You question me Titus?" With hands up in the air." I advise you to keep your head on straight Heda. The nature clan was in our back yard. They could have attacked." Lexa was seething." They did attack and they lost their heads. So will anyone else who tries to overpower me. Know your place. I care a lot for Klarke and that is my personal affair. I am commander."
Titus backed away knowing his place but he wasn't happy hearing Lexa cared for the outsider.
"I am here to protect you." Lexa seethed." I respect you Titus. I trust you with my life but I'll cut your head off myself if you look at Klarke like that again." She walked passed him with her head high.
"Raven are we almost there?" Clarke was covered in sweat and dirt and wished she would
Have known this was a long journey trip.
Raven rolled her eyes." Clarke! Don't be a Whiney pants we're almost there."
Clarke huffed she needed a break collapsing down on the ground Raven shook her head but sat down beside her. " I heard some things. Not a lot since I don't really know the language but I can understand broken English. The people here talk about you and Heda and Octavia and I. I don't like it." Raven confessed." You think we're in danger?"
Raven placed her hand on Clarke's thigh. "I think whatever you and Lexa are will have to be an official thing soon or I think some jealous people will try to attack you."
Clarke shook her head ." I guess I better pay attention as we get trained."
Raven rolled her eyes• I mean it I love you and if Lexa is who you're meant to be with like I believe Sasha and I right now are good then we need to be ready for whatever that means because girl we're far from home." Clarke was about to agree but wrestling in the woods caught her attention. Raven stood up with Clarke right behind her both women looked were the noise was coming from. Taking her knife out Clarke looked over to her friend who had a knife also." Hello?" Clarke asked hoping the person was friendly.
"Let's get out of here." Raven said. She grabbed the blonde's hand and started to turn around but an arrow went through her leg making both Clarke and her scream.
Clarke instantly turned to see a man jumping out of the woods at her raven was on the ground hurled in pain. Clarke without thinking took her knife and sliced the man's cheek as he tackled her to the ground. Hitting her head she was afraid she would go unconscious but never did. He didn't have anything but an arrow which he couldn't use on her at the moment.
"Get off of me!" Clarke yelled out in frustration.
Suddenly like a miracle answered Lincoln appeared behind the man on top of her that now was laying on top of her as Lincoln had threw an arrow that went through the man's skull.
"Help me please. Raven needs help."
Octavia had rushed over to the brunette to help her. Lincoln picked up the dead man like a sack of potatoes and threw him into the bushes.
"Lincoln can you get Raven to the healer?" Octavia cried concerned for her friend.
He picked up the brunette as Clarke got off from the ground thanking the heavens she was still alive.
"Heda we had trouble." Ryder informed what had occurred with the outsiders and ice nation.
"Where is Clarke?" Ryder was amused with this relationship that was going on between the blonde and his Heda. He enjoyed having the blonde around as with the other two but everything was surrounded them lately and he knew that would come to face soon enough. It wasn't his business to get into too much.
"She is fine. Raven was hurt."
Lexa wanted to run to the healers tent to see the blonde but she knew she couldn't." Keep me updated."
"Raven stay with us. We got the arrow out but we need to stop the bleeding." Dayton the healer didn't know what was going on. His broken English wasn't the best. He gave the brunette herbs to calm her down but the blonde was everywhere in his space.
"Do you have a needle?" Clarke looked to Lincoln for help. Translating what she asked Dayton went and grabbed his bag of tools. Clarke frowned they needed a hospital out here. She would
Talk to Lexa about this later.
Ryder appeared out of nowhere. Grounders were excellent at this. He spoke a few words to Lincoln in grounders language. Lincoln had no expression Clarke could fed off of. The only emotion was when he looked at her friend. Clarke could tell how much the man cared for Octavia.
"Raven how are you?"
Raven was calmed from the herb she was made to chew from the healer but she could feel everything Clarke was doing." Just fine and dandy Clarke." She answered between her teeth.
It was a long evening trying to keep her friend stable with no real medical supplies here. Octavia fed the woman alcohol to help with the pain as Ryder and Lincoln were at their assistance. Dayton didn't say a word but watched the blondes ways of dealing with things. He could learn a lot from her.
"Lincoln will you tell Heda I will be staying here tonight with Raven and Octavia."
Lincoln nodded before leaving the tent with Octavia hot on his heels. Clarke watched as the two exchanged words and then the brunette came back into the tent.
"Well this isn't how I seen us spending this evening." She announced taking the brunettes weak hand in her own.
"Me either." Clarke said as she tried to disinfect everything around her. "How do these people survive a cut?" Clarke asked out loud." This medical tent isn't enough."
Octavia looked around agreeing with the blonde.
Heda wasn't pleased she wouldn't be seeing the blonde tonight. After her councilman left she had Lincoln walk with her to the medical tent.
Lincoln was surprised how much not seeing the blonde was affecting his leader.
"Lexa?" Clarke said shocked to see the brunette. Clarke found herself hugging the brunette. The relief she found in the woman's arms she had never felt before. Lexa hugged the blonde but gave the others a look they knew. They weren't ever to talk about what they see to anyone. Clarke took Lexa around the tent to talk to her alone. "Clarke are you ok?" Lexa inspected the blonde over for any signs of injury.
"My head hurts but I am ok Lexa just concerned about Raven. That man came out of nowhere."
Lexa couldn't stand to see the worry on the blonde's face." This is why training out here is important Klarke you can't just go freely around here specially being outsiders." Clarke flinched she could see Lexa was coming out of concerned for her welfare but she hates how Lexa said 'outsiders' she had thought they were more than that." I am sorry Lexa." Lexa backed up seeing the hurt in the blonde's eyes. This was new to her. She wasn't use to these feelings and how the blonde made her act. She stepped forward kissing the blonde. She didn't know what she was trying to say but she needed to comfort the blonde some how. Clarke got the message loud and clear. " I don't want to be an outsider to you." Clarke sadly confessed.
"Be mine Clarke?" All Clarke could do was say yes. She didn't know what that meant or entitled but she wanted to be Lexa's more than anything.
"Yes Lexa. I'll be yours."
