Well, this is going to get interesting :/
Dipper opened his eyes, and he saw the sunlight coming in through windows, making the room glow in an orangey-yellow hue. He would've almost smiled to himself if he didn't know what was about to happen.
There it was; the sound of a metallic blade in someone's hands. He looked forward to see the same blonde he saw every time, standing across the hall, holding that clean knife. It'd be stained with his blood soon.
They weren't any older than 13. Just a teenager. A child.
A child with murderous intent. A child who'd gone from falling in a mountain and belonging to a family, to starting a war between monsters and humans, to killing everyone over and over again just for fun, to finally controlling the timelines as he looked for power anywhere he went.
He knew that this was just a dream. He knew that it was just a past memory that happened many, many timelines ago. But he couldn't help it. He felt the fear rise up in him. But still, he kept his cool, repeating the same thing he did every time, hoping that it would change the kid. Heh, would you look at that? According to the Chinese definition, he was insane.
"Hey. You've been busy, huh? Killing everyone? Wendy… Fiddleford… Pacifica…"
The child only seemed to smile more at the thought of all the lives they'd ended.
"So, I've got a question for you. Do you think even the worst person can change?"
"..." Silence. Just… plain silence.
"Alright, I got something more interesting for you. Do you wanna have a bad time? Because if you take one more step over that line, I'm going to have to do something you won't like, kid."
He heard it loud and clear; the echo of a footstep.
"Welp. Sorry, Grunkle Stan. This is why I never make promises.
It's a beautiful day outside. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming…
On days like these, kids like you…
…should be burning in Hell."
Dipper awoke, gasping. It had happened again, and he didn't even do anything about it. Why did he even try anymore?
He ran up the stairs. He had to make sure…
He pushed the door open just enough for him to look into it. His sister was sleeping peacefully in her unicorn pajamas. He let out a sigh of relief before putting on his slippers and walking outside.
Suddenly, his phone started ringing. He took it out of his pocket and answered it. "Hello?"
"Hey, Dip. It's me, Wendy. Do you know someone named Axolotl, or Axie, by chance?"
His tone turned dead serious. Something like this hadn't happened since humans were at peace with monsters… "Uh, yeah. Why?"
"You should see this."
That's how he ended up at Wendy's house.
"I'm definitely sure that it's referring to the souls Stanford has been keeping. I won't question who Axolotl is because I trust you, but if you won't mind telling me…?"
"I would, but, I can't at this moment."
"Alright. Well, thanks for coming over, man. This sounds pretty urgent."
"Uh, yeah… It is. I better get going. I'll see you later."
"Wait!"
He turned back around, hands inches away from the doorknob, his innocent eyes looking back at Wendy.
"I'll come with you."
"I said no. No means no. That is something I will not negotiate on."
Those words hit him hard. Really hard. Axie needed his help desperately and now he went all this way only to receive a hard slap in the face and be told that it was 'too dangerous'?! Wendy, even though she didn't know about the situation, seemed to understand.
"Ford, can't you see? This is something important! Your nephew would never dare to mess with Bill unless there was something gravely wrong! The Falls itself is depending on him and you're not helping!"
At that his head tilted up, able to see her new perspective. He sighed. "What was it that made you come here in the first place?" he asked.
Dipper handed him the note without any hesitation whatsoever. After reading it, his eyes widened. "Axolotl?"
The brunet wondered how his Great Uncle would know about Axie, quirking an eyebrow up, but gave a small nod nevertheless. Ford wondered how Ax knew him, but they didn't have time.
"Then this changes everything. Go ahead, but be careful. I don't want you getting hurt."
"Thank you."
They ran down the hallway and eventually found where the souls were being kept. He carefully gathered each and every one of them.
"Wendy, go home. I'll take care of this from here on."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I'll be fine."
"Okay."
"Giddy."
The hologram appeared once again and Gideon immediately noticed the 5 souls in his hands. "I only need one."
"Axie had a different plan in mind."
"Fine."
Slowly, one by one, each of the souls drifted to Gideon and he absorbed them. With each soul he absorbed, the amulet began to slow brighter and brighter, until it blinded Dippers vision on the fifth one. He covered his eyes, and when the light went away, there Gideon stood, back in his human body.
"Interesting. Enough power to turn me back, but not enough to turn me into some god or something. That's good I guess."
"C'mon, we've got a megalomaniac to fight."
"Do you even know where William would be at?" he asked, his head tilting towards him in wonder.
"I figured you'd ask that. Ever heard of the Time-Space?"
Bill would be lying if he said he wasn't slightly surprised at what Axolotl had done. He let him get away with it because this was his chance; this was the resistance he was talking about. Not exactly what he had in mind, but it would work. He could easily win over Pine Tree. He was pathetic. So he waited patiently for him. He could be here any minute.
Except it wasn't Dipper's voice he heard.
It was Gideon's.
"Why? Why are you doing this, William?"
"Why am I doing this? You're the one who started this whole thing, Pentagram! You're the one who killed your father. You're the one who poisoned him with the flowers. I only suggested it."
"No! I- I didn't know! I was only trying to make him happy!"
"Even the ones who never meant to kill someone end up getting guilty. Now, let's get to the point here. Where's Pine Tree?"
"Right here, you dirty sister killer."
A knife pierced right through Bill from behind, blood dripping down to the floor. He looked at it with amusement and then just started laughing. Pain really was hilarious.
"You idiot! You can't kill me! I've got Axolotl's soul!"
"Look again."
The white soul, glowing a soft pink, was hovering right there in his hands. Not Bill's, Mason's.
"You- W- G- give it back, that doesn't b- belong to you!" Bill screamed in protest.
"You're right. It doesn't belong to me. It belongs to someone else. But definitely not you."
"How could you-"
"Gideon, NOW!" Dipper yelled.
To be continued...
