"Meredith, stop, please I need to talk to you" Meredith speeds up and he is still following her. 15 meters before she reaches her car he catches up with her. "Wait, Meredith, please let us talk." He says. "What do you want, daddy?" she asks giving him a cold glare. "Meredith, please let us talk." "About what? What would you want to talk to me about when the last time I saw you was more than 20 years ago? And I know that they tried to get a hold of you. So where does the sudden desire to talk to me now come from, Thatcher?"
Flashback June 1984
"Dr. Grey, you are in no shape to take care of your daughter right now. We are really sad to tell you that we need to remove her from your care." The CPS lady told Ellis Grey in the psych wing of Massachusetts General Hospital. "No, no mommy, I don't want to go, please don't let them take me, mommy. Please. I want to stay with you." a 6 year old Meredith Grey cried as child protective services took her from her mother's room.
As they sat in the Car the CPS woman started to talk to Meredith." Hey Meredith, I am Mary Smith and I am going to look for a nice foster family where you can stay for the time where your mommy is sick." "No, I want to go and stay with my daddy, he loves me very much and I want to stay with him and not with another family. Can you call him please?" "I will try to call him, OK?" Meredith just nodded and looked out of the window. She didn't really understand what was wrong but she knew that her mommy wasn't feeling well so she couldn't stay with her for some time. Meredith thought that it probably was her fault. Since they moved from Seattle to Boston her mother was constantly angry at her. She was angry at Meredith because her uncle Richard didn't want to stay with her Mommy. And he didn't want to stay with her because her Mommy had Meredith. Meredith felt the tears welling up but she tried to stop it because she didn't want Mary to see her crying. Her mommy had always told her "Meredith, big girls don't cry. Only weak girls cry." Meredith quickly wiped away the tears building in her eyes and just kept watching the streets through the window.
The car stopped and they were parked in front of a huge building. Meredith had already learned to read a little bit and could read "cour-" before Mary had grabbed her hand and tehy were already entering the huge building. They stood in front of the elevator and were waiting when Mary started to talk again. "Meredith, we have to go to the sixth floor, that's where my office is. Do you want to press the button, it's the ond ewith the number six on it. Do you know what the number six looks like?" "Yes, I already learned how it looks like 'coz I'm already six years old and I know lots about numbers and reading already. And I love to press the button 'coz sometimes when we're in the 'spital mommy let's me press it too and it's lots of fun."
The elevator arrived and Meredith quickly pressed the button for the sixth floor. The elevator started and Meredith hummed along the music playing. As they reached the sixth floor Mary grabbed Meredith's hand once again and lead her to the adult's office. "Can you call my daddy now?" Meredith asked. "Do you know where he lives, Meredith?" Mary Smith answered. "Yes in Settle, there are lots of ferry boats and there is this big tower and my daddy's name is Thatcher Grey." "Oh, you mean Seattle. I will look up his phone number real quick and call him then, OK?" Meredith nodded again before spotting some children's books in the office and opening one to look at the pictures.
"Hello... yes... Mary Smith from Boston CPS... I need a phone number... Thatcher Grey in Seattle... Yeah I have a pen... Yeah thank you, can you repeat the number please so I can check... OK, thank you, I've got it... Bye, talk to you soon..."
"Meredith, I got your dad's Phone number, I'll call him now." "Can I talk to him too, I really miss my daddy." Meredith asked. Mary responded: "I will ask him to talk to you when I reach him, OK?" "Thank you, Mary." Meredith said and turned back to her book.
Meredith saw Mary dial a number on her phone and put the receiver to her ear.
"Hello is this Thatcher Grey? I am Mary Smith from Boston Child Protective Services. Yeah of course you can ask what the matter with my call is. I am calling about your daughter Meredith. Your Ex-wife is in no shape to care for her and I need to put her in foster care if you don't take her. What do you mean you don't have time to look after her? So you want to tell me that you and your wife had a baby so you can't care for your daughter? Mr. Grey, I have a scared six-year-old in my office who wanted to talk to her daddy. What do you Mena you don't have time. Stop, don't hang up! No Mr-"
Mary let out a frustrated sigh and Meredith just stared at her with tears welling up in her eyes." Meredith, I am going to take you to a group home and we will look for a nice foster family for you, OK?" " Why didn't you let me talk to my daddy?" "He didn't want to talk, Meredith. I will take you now OK?"
Flashback end
"I sat in the Office when Mary called you, I wanted to talk to you but you couldn't be bothered to care then. So why do you care now? Leave me alone!"
Meredith pushed him out of her way and ran the last meters to her car before she entered it and drove away.
That's the new chapter. I saw this whole meredith in foster care and thatcher doesn't take storyline in another fanfiction and I think that it's really good so that's why I put it into my fanfiction too
