"All mighty Thanos," Loki called, his voice loud and strong.

He forced himself not to let his voice shake. He would never admit it, even to himself, but he was scared. He wasn't sure how this was going to end. He had no choice. He had to protect Thor.

"I, Loki, prince of Asgard… Odinson," he added, glancing at Thor, making sure he was listening. "…rightful king of Jotunheim, God of Mischief, do hereby pledge to you my undying fidelity." He was holding a dagger just out of Thanos' eye sight. He reached forward reaching to stab the man. Thanos caught the dagger gripping it in his large fist. Loki gasped quietly as Thanos gripped him by the collar raising him in the air. Loki struggled as he tried to break free. Thanos laughed as he adjusted his grip on the weapon and then stabbed Loki in the gut with it. Loki screamed in pain as he was stabbed. Thanos pulled the dagger from his body smiling at the crimson red blood dancing off the blade. Thanos tossed Loki to the side smirking as he turned and suddenly he was gone. Thor was finally able to escape his restraints and he ran to his brother. Loki was collapsed on the ground face first as Thanos had thrown him. Thor rolled him over to find his shirt stained with blood. His hands and faced already blood-stained from fighting.

"Loki!" Thor cried as he looked to his dying brother. Loki smiled slightly.

"I've always wondered what death would be like," Loki said, his voice weak, his breathing uneven.

"Now is no time to find out. Come on, you've lived through worse," Thor said as he ripped a large section of his cape off, wiping at Loki's wound, putting pressure on it trying to stop the bleeding. Loki cried out in pain as Thor pressed against the wound.

"Thor, it's... Oh Norns, Thor stop" Loki cried squirming in pain. Thor looked down to his brother.

"I'm not going to let you die," Thor said through gritted teeth.

"Nothing is going to stop that now," Loki whispered wincing once again as Thor pressed against the wound. Thor pulled away looking down at the piece of cloth, wincing at how much blood there was.

"I'm sorry, brother. I never treated you fairly. I should have been able to save you," Thor said, tears rolling down his face, his voice breaking. Loki reached up, touching his face, wiping blood from Thor's cheek with his thumb. Loki's hand was surprisingly smooth and uncalloused for the kind of weapons he used.

"You taught me every thing I know," Loki said, his voice weaker by the second. Thor smiled.

"You taught me how to hold a knife," Loki said.

"You taught me how to fight," Thor replied. Loki smiled, tears rolling down his face. Thor gripped his brother's free hand, holding it tight.

"Don't leave me," Thor whispered. Loki smiled.

"I finally get to see mother," Loki whispered back.

"Loki, no we can get help, someone will come. There have to be some med packs around here. Loki don't leave me please," Thor begged gripping his hand tighter. Loki shook his head and tried to sit up, crying in pain as he did. Thor put his arm around his brother's back, helping him sit supporting him. Loki, leaning on Thor for support, looked up to his brother's bright blue eyes.

"I'm sorry, brother," Loki whispered.

"It's okay, none of that matters. You came around it. You have nothing to be sorry for," Thor replied, pulling his brother close to his chest. Loki let his arms wrap around Thor's neck as he rested his chin on his shoulder.

"I love you," Loki said his voice desperate.

"I love you too, brother. I love you so much. Please Loki stay with me," Thor said, adjusting Loki so he could see his face. Loki was crying, Thor realized. Thor had never seen Loki cry. It broke his heart.

"You're going to have to do this next part on your own," Loki whispered. Thor shook his head.

"I can't," Thor replied, crying just as hard as Loki. Loki bit his lip.

"Take your time, but I'll see you on the other side," Loki replied his voice barely a whisper.

"I don't want you to go, Loki, please. I love you," Thor cried, touching his brother's face with his hand. Loki squeezed Thor's hand that he had never let go of his since he was stabbed.

"I don't want to go," Loki said fear now in his voice. Thor shook his head.

"Mother is on the other side, Father is on the other side, Heimdal is on the other side. You will finally be free," Thor said.

"Freedom. Life's greatest lie," Loki chuckled hoarsely under his breath. Now he was barley breathing.

"I'll tell father what you've done," Loki whispered, his eyes beginning to fall shut.

"I didn't do it for him. I did it for this idiot who thinks he's dying," Thor replied, his voice now the desperate one. Thor felt his brother's lips brush his cheek before he whispered,

"Good bye." Loki went limp in his arms.

"Loki? Loki? Loki? LOKI," Thor screamed. He screamed until his throat was raw.

"Why?" he screamed to no one in particular. He pulled his now dead brother close, holding his tight. He didn't worry about hurting him, knowing that he was now dead so Thor held him as tight as he could. His skin was still warm to the touch. He took the small daggers Loki always carried from his belt hooking them to his own. He stood looking at his brother's limp body.

"I couldn't save you. But you know damn well I will avenge you," he whispered. His brother was gone. Deeply, truly gone.
