I know the last chapter made Sonic look really bad but I did warn you guys that this story has Sonic bashing. I love Sonic but him being a jerk is just how I see this story going. Hopefully Sonic will grow and learn but You'll have to keep reading and find out. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

Chapter 4

The first week pasted and no one had seen or heard from Amy, other than Rouge and Shadow. Cream locked herself in her house. Tails visited her daily while Blaze and Sliver stopped by a couple times to make sure she was doing ok. Both refused to visit Sonic. Tails and Sally were the only ones talking to him and no one had really seen Knuckles.

Sonic still swore Amy would be back any day now. He was deep in denial and it was starting to concern Tails. Anytime was mentioned Sonic would go into a rant how this was all the trick and how he wasn't going to fall for it. Mutiple times over the week Sally had stormed away from the blue hero and left him to his ranting.

After the first mouth things started to go back to normal. Cream was leaving her house again. Knuckles was visiting his friends. one thing that hadn't change was everyone still weren't on speaking terms with Sonic. The first time Knuckles saw the hero after a past month he punches him without a word Rouge had to pull the red echidna away before it turned into a fight.

Sonic had developed a habit of running past Amy's house on a daily basis. Each time he'd slow down expecting the pink hedgehog to run out to greet him. When he once again hadn't seen his pink friend, he would return home and spend a couple hours in his room quietly thinking to himself, 'What if I'm wrong?'

Around four mouth everyone went from being angry at Sonic to feel sorry for him. He still ran by her house but never said her name. When people talked about her, he would just leave the room with a blank look on his face. It took another couple of weeks before Sonic admitted Amy wasn't coming back. He cried that night, alone in his room.

Shadow was around once in a while, but mostly kept to himself. He was more or less just checking in on everyone so he can tell Amy how they were doing. After half a year pasted since Amy left, everyone found a letter on their door step from their pink friend. Her letters didn't say much. She let them know she was ok, pretty happy, and working on bettering herself. She said she missed them and that she would try to write again soon. Sonic's letter had a little extra written, Amy had added how she was working on getting over him and hoped they could be friends again one day.

Sonic didn't even really think about what she wrote. The only thing one his mind was finding where the letter came from but no matter how many times, he looked the letter over no return address would appear. The only thing it said was his name written in Amy's neat hand writing. The hero ignored the ache in his chest when he noticed for the first time ever the I in his name was not dotted with a little heart.

Over the first year, Amy had written Cream a couple times, letting her know Amy was doing great and quite happy. Told her she was training every day and making new friends, but know of them would ever replace her as her little sister. Sonic didn't get another letter until Amy had been gone for a year and a half. It was to simply let him know he no longer owned her heart. That she had moved on and was now with someone that loved and treasured her. She also told him she hoped he was doing well with Sally. A year and a half and that was all she had to say to him. This filled Sonic with a numbness he couldn't explain.

After receiving the letter Sonic spent as much time as he could with Sally; trying to ignore all thoughts of Amy. He didn't believe her. He was still convinced that this was her way of getting back at him. That she was trying to trick him. Amy had loved him for so long that even the thought of her getting over him was impossible. Her love for him was so much a part of who she was he didn't know who'd she be if she didn't love him. She just couldn't be Amy if she didn't love him.

Amy had been gone for three years. Over those years Cream had been the one Amy wrote to most but she did write to the others once in a while. She never really told them much. Always leaving out where she was, what she was doing, and who she was with. She mentioned the guy she was dating and some of the cute dates they had gone on, but she never told them who he was or what he looked like. Her friends were happy to know she was doing alright but they still missed her greatly and wondered when they would see her again.

Then after three years of being gone, there was a letter waiting for everyone one morning. The letters only said three words… 'I'm coming home.'
