Chapter Five: Forest Fight

"So what now? What do we do?' Bobby asked.

"Professor Xavier started this school," Beast explained. "Perhaps it's best that it ends with him. We'll have to tell the students they're going home." The X-Men and their new recruits (excluding Rogue) sat in the living room.

"The Professor isn't dead," Logan corrected. "Almost."

"Most of us don't have anywhere to go!" Kyle blurted out. Kyle was a brainwashed boy from a lab which he did not want to go back to. He had no family except in the X-Mansion. Kyle didn't want to be a nomad kind of person like Logan was like for years- "Besides," Kyle continued, becoming angrier, "You just came here. Who do you think you are to come here and try to take the school down?"

"Kyle!" Kitty gasped in shock.

Beast narrowed his blue eyes at Kyle. "I helped the Professor to start this school. I was the brains behind Cerebro. I even was on the X-Men for a while."

"I can't believe this," Storm said, ignoring Beast's bragging. "I can't believe we're not going to fight for this school-"

Everyone froze as the door to the mansion opened. A young man with blonde hair and a long brown jacket entered the mansion.

"I know this is a bad time." Warren Worthington III said. "I heard that this is a place for mutants."

"It was," Hank started to say.

"And it still is." Storm interrupted. "We'll get you a room. Hank, tell all the students that the school stays open."

"Have you seen Rogue?" Bobby asked Colossus.

Peter shook his head.

"I know where she is," Kyle interrupted. "She's going to Alcatraz."

"Alcatraz?" Bobby exclaimed. "Isn't that were-"

"Yes, Bobby! That's where they're making the cure. The mutant cure. And it's your fault that she's going to take it!" Kyle shouted in the hallway. "She was distressed that you cheated on her with Kitty and now she's going to get rid of her powers just so she can touch people-so she can touch her boyfriend. She's doing it for you-"

"Hey what's going on here?" Storm asked as he entered the hallway with Warren.

"Nothing." Kyle said. "Absolutely nothing." He glared at Bobby before marching down the hallway.

"WE DON'T NEED A CURE! WE DON'T NEED A CURE!"

Bobby arrived in a mob of protesters in front of the Worthington Labs Building. There was a line of mutants waiting for their turn to enter the building and to take the cure. Bobby searched to see if he could find someone who looked like Rogue.

"Getting the cure so you can go back to Mommy and Daddy?"

Bobby whirled around to find the source of the familiar voice that was taunting him. Pyro stood behind him.

"I'm just looking for someone." Bobby retorted. He hadn't seen John since Alkali. What was he doing here?

"Oh, I get it." John continued. "Your girlfriend. I figured she'd want the cure. She's pathetic."

Bobby clenched his fists as his hands turned icy blue. Pyro stretched out his hand, and a hidden lighter in his sleeve emitted a flame, and Pyro manipulated it into an orb of fire.

"Make a move." John taunted.

Bobby hesitated, then his fist turned back to normal as he turned around and marched away.

"Same old Bobby," John continued to tease. "Still afraid of a fight!" John's orb of fire didn't go to waste. He launched it at the bottom of the building, lighting the front entrance of fire. A bunch of people screamed in horror. Bobby whirled around again and ran to find Pyro, but he had disappeared.

Scott stood in the medbay, watching Professor X's motionless body.

"Scott…"

Scott jumped. He hadn't heard that voice in a long time.

"Scott!"

"Jean?" Cyclops wondered as he raced outside into the backyard.

"Scott, where am I?" Jean asked. "SCOTT!"

Scott grunted, clutching the sides of his head.

"Scott. Scott! SCOTT!"

Cyclops went to his room and packed his backpack again.

"Where are you going?" A deep voice asked.

Cyclops turned around to see Logan in the doorway.

"Where do you think?" Scott retorted.

"She's gone, Scott. She's not coming back." Logan said grimly.

"You don't know that." Scott retorted.

"She almost killed the Professor."

"That's wasn't Jean." Cyclops corrected. "It was the Phoenix. The Jean I know is still in there." Scott tried to leave the room, but Logan blocked his way.

"Listen-"

"Outta my way-" Scott hissed.

"Listen, why can't you see the truth?" Logan exclaimed.

"Because… Because-"

"Because you love her." Logan filled in for him. "She made her choice, now it's time we make ours. So if you're with us, then be with us.

"Scott…" Jean's voice echoed through the mansion. Logan heard it too. Cyclops started to run towards the exit of the mansion.

"I'm coming with you." Logan said. "You almost got killed the last time you tried to look for Jean."

Kyle watched to two leave. Feeling suspicious, he followed after them.

The two (three) arrived in the forest. The forest was quiet, but smoke came from somewhere. Logan sniffed.

"We're not alone." Logan said to Scott.

Logan unsheathed his claws while Scott got his visor ready to fire.

SHUNK!

A spike made of bone flew through the air and lodged itself into Logan's shoulder, knocking him to the ground.

"Aah!" Logan cried. Scott looked ahead to see a Brotherhood mutant named Spike. Two spikes made of bone emerged from his arms.

"GO!" Cyclops shouted. Spike through another bone spike and Logan leapt away as Cyclops shot the spike with a laser blast.

The lazer's sound was heard by another evil mutant who heard it with his super hearing. He nodded at another mutant with a gun.

"They're here." The super hearing guy said.

Spike chased after Logan and Cyclops. Cyclops hid behind a bush, trying to get an aim. Logan hid behind a tree and pulled the spike out of his shoulder. He winced as he healed in his shoulder. Cyclops shot a blast at Spike. Spike dodged and moved to the left with was in Logan's sight. Logan hurled the spike from his shoulder at Spike. A howl told him that he had hit his target.

"This is where I come in." Kyle mumbled. A man with a shotgun crept stealthily in the bushes behind Cyclops. With a shout, Kyle leapt through the air and cut the shotgun in half and kicked the man to the ground. Cyclops whirled around.

"Kyle, what on Earth-" Cyclops started to say.

"GET DOWN!" Kyle shouted as a spike whizzled through the air.

Logan looked at Kyle. "Get in the tree."

Cyclops spied another mutant named Erg with who had an eyepatch. Cyclops shot an optic blast at Erg, but Erg's eye absorbed the energy and shot in back at Scott from his remaining eye. Cyclops ducked and tripped, rolling down the hill before crashing into a bush.

Logan watched as another mutant appeared with a club, another with a rifle.

"Ready?" Logan asked Kyle.

"Always." Kyle answered. With another cry, the two leapt from the tree attacking the Brotherhood members below. As Kyle attacked another mutant, Logan ran back up the hill when he was almost hit by another spike. A second flew towards him and Logan cut it with his claws. A third. Cut in half. Logan grunted in anger and sprinted towards Spike, who kept throwing spikes at him. Finally, Spike drew two spikes and held them like daggers as he and Logan ran at each other. They both stabbed each other in their stomachs and fell to the ground. Logan's healing factor kicked in, however, Spike did not.

Logan stood up and pulled the spikes from his abdomen before taking off.

Cyclops jumped up and dodged A blast from Erg. Cyclops stopped shooting blasts when he realized that Erg was absorbing the blasts from him. Cyclops ran at Erg. Erg ran at Cyclops. Cyclops tripped Erg before beating him in hand-to hand combat and finished him off kicking him down the mountain lamely. Kyle stood watching him.

"What are you smiling at?" Scott demanded. "I don't have claws. Let's find Jean." He said as they caught up with Logan.

"Try to blend in." Logan said as he grabbed a stray hoodie to hide the blood and healed wounds on his body. Cyclops put on a hat and followed Logan.

Kyle stayed behind observing the crowd of people shouting, "We don't need a cure!"

"Members of the Brotherhood―" Magneto addressed. "They wish to cure us. But I say to you, we are the cure! The cure for their infirm, imperfect condition called… Homo have their weapons. We have ours. We will strike with vengeance and a fury...that this world has never witnessed. And if any mutants stand in our way, we will use this poison against them. We shall go to Alcatraz Island, take control of the cure… and destroy its source. And then, with the help of the Phoenix, nothing can stop us!"

"YEAH!" The crowd of mutants shouted.

Scott searched the crowd and then spied Jean. But Logan beat him to saying-

"Jean?" Logan said.

Magneto suddenly stopped speaking. The he said, "I know the smell of your adamantium from a mile away."

All eyes turned to Logan and Cyclops.

"We didn't come here to fight you." Logan said.

"Smart boy," Magneto mocked.

"We came for Jean." Cyclops said.

"You think I'm keeping her against her will?" Magneto asked. Jean tried to open her mouth, but the Phoenix took control. "She's here because she wants to be."

"You don't know what you're dealing with." Cyclops answered. "That's a powerful entity you're talking about.

"I know full well." Magneto answered. "I saw what she did to Charles."
"And you just stood there and let him die?" Logan retorted.

"I'm- We're not leaving here without her." Cyclops said.

"Yes you are." Magneto answered. With a swipe of his hand, Logan and Cyclops went flying through the air Magneto sensed Kyle and whisked him away also out of the forest.

Ok, I realized that Kyle had no reason to come with Cyclops and Logan, but I was sick of leaving him in the shadows. It was about time he got some action. If you've watched the movie, you probably aren't familiar with the Brotherhood member Erg. He is a mutant who can absorb energy and shoot it back through his only eye. Why he has an eyepatch, I don't know. Tell me who you ship your character with, but this is optional. You can ship them with Kyle if you want, but his main love interest will still be Kitty.

Here's the announcement. OC's! I will be taking one mutant OC for the sequel to this story! I prefer to have a female mutant OC for the next story, but i might except a male. If you have an OC, submit it to me via private messaging, but if you don't have a fanfiction account, feel free to submit it in the comments of this story. The deadline is June 1st, 2021. If I don't get an OC by then, I will extend it or create my own OC. Here's an example on how you submit it:

Character: Kadrien (Kyle) Stryker

Age: 17

Description: African American. Brown Skin and Black curly hair. (Tell me what what their X-Men suit looks like. They don't have to be on the good guy's side)

Race: African American Mutant

Powers: Enhanced Strength, Speed and Senses, A healing factor an adamantium blade that sticks out from in between his ring and middle finger on both hands.

Summary: Kyle Stryker is a brainwashed mutant who woke up in a lab, etc. (You guys know all about Kyle already! Make the summary one paragraph long.)
