It was the first week of class and volleyball practice has been excruciating. She was looking forward to relaxing. As she walked to her car when someone walked beside her. Making her look up and there he was again she had seen him in the field every day.
But every time she went to talk Gabriella took over the conversation she was only holding her tongue. Because she was new here and not to mention she was co-captain. "Hey I never got your name or to tell you my name because the mouth almighty is always talking.
But I'm Les" he says stretching his hand out, making her smile"Josslyn but everyone calls me Joss. Is Les short for something else" she replies, "Elesandro but only my teachers and parents call me that.
Les is always more"he said with a smile, "Heyy Joss how was practic... wow who's the hottie" Noami said. As Josslyn covered her face Les only smiled"I'm Les and who might you be. Would you care to join us we're going to get something to eat, '' he said.
Catching Joss off guard as he winked at her and she couldn't help but smile. Making Naomi look at her with a raised eyebrow "this is my roomie Naomi she's from Miami" Josslyn says. Before Naomi could speak she knew her roommate would figure it out.
That he was the guy she was talking about and by the way Naomi looked like Josslyn knew that she figured it out. "Well it's nice to meet you Les so where are we going. I know a couple of places we could go depending on what you want" she says.
Les smiled"as do I but I know a place if y'all wanna go Josslyn" he said. Looking directly at her"umm yeah sure I guess Naomi and I will follow in my car or hers" Joss answered. With a nod "I'm cool or I can drive so y'all don't have too"Les says.
"No we got it honestly" she says looking him straight in the eyes, "okay my truck is right there so I guess we meet on the outside of campus" was all he got out. "Hey freshman, Les how are you? What are you guys up to"Gabriella said coming over and putting her arm around his.
Making him pull his arm away but she kept her hand close to him "it's Josslyn and he was stopped to say hi" she responded. "Oh okay then you don't mind if I steal him away do you" she says, "I mind I have plans Gaby. Josslyn I'll see you around Naomi. It was nice to meet you later ladies,"Les says.
Getting ready to leave he nodded to both Joss and Naomi"hey wait I was invited to the beach party All of the upperclassmen will be there. A Lot of the guys from the team '' Gabriella, "umm no thanks like I said I have plans" he said leaving.
As Gabriella watched him walk away as Amanda came over"Umm nice car " she says staring as he got into his Mercedes-Benz truck. Shaking her head"umm where gonna gonna go bye, hi Amanda, bye Amanda"Joss said. Starting to walk away" wait what'd he say to you freshmen you should steer clear.
He's an incorrigible flirt and I wouldn't want to see you get hurt" she said, trying to deter Joss. Who just nodded and walked away" I think bitchy likes him and he's into you and she knows it"Naomi whispered. Making Joss look at her as they go into Josslyn's car "what makes you say that" she asked.
Rolling her eyes" Come on Josslyn he asked you out to eat he couldn't get away from bitchy fast enough. Now let's see if he's still waiting for us" she says as Joss drove away. When they turned out the University gates he was right there on the phone.
Joss tried not to smile but she couldn't help it as her roommate waved at him. He nods then hangs up his phone"Just follow me" Les says with a wink before pulling off with them behind him. "You're interested. I mean I don't blame you, he's hot but seriously Joss doesn't listen to her.
She's got an axe to grind trust me she can't be trusted" Naomi says as they followed Les. Until he came to a stop parking then getting out so did they as he waited for them. Before leading them inside "DC what's up my bruh" he said, "Danny"Josslyn says as he turned around to see who was calling him.
"Josslyn what are you doing here"Danny says to Josslyn then looking at his god brother when it clicked. "I could ask you the same thing," she says as he hugged her Daniel Julian Cain stood. 5'11 athletically built with light blue eyes and sandy brown blonde hair.
That was kind of long he had on a blue hat on backwards "I don't even have to ask you go to school with this guy. I guess I can tell my mom and your dad that I saw you and all Is well" he said. As she shoved him" I was coming this weekend there was a lot going on when I first got here oh shit.
This is my friend and roommate Naomi she's from Miami"she says no feeling a little more relaxed. "We could tell it's nice to meet you Naomi. I'm Danny Cain or you could call DC" he said, reaching for her hand. And shaking it staring down into her dark brown eyes" nice to meet you Danny so how do you guys know each other.
Whoa is this some kind of '' she said before Joss covered her mouth. With a grin"Wait now My father knows Danny's family and how do you know Danny," Josslyn said. Looking at Les '' He's my God brother because his parents are my Godparents. My parents are his sisters God parents And his uncle and our aunt are his godparents if you get my drift" Danny says.
As Les chuckles" they didn't need the confusion bruh so can we eat I'm hungry" he says. Danny put his arm out for Naomi to take it as he led the way outside "So Naomi tell me about yourself where in Miami you from" he asked. While Les and Joss walked behind them "well I guess they hit it off" he said.
"I guess so, '' Joss says watching her roommate as Danny led them to another table when she turned to him. Leaving them alone when she felt him staring at her when she looked up into his intense gaze. It gave her chills so much so she couldn't look away " so what is this place and if it was a restaurant why aren't there any other customers" she said. Trying to break their gaze when he smiled " well you got me there it's not a restaurant.
It's more of a hangout but we got a dope as chef" he answered shrugging his shoulders, making her smile. "So what's good here" Joss says, "I'm impartial but I got you I know just what you can get. It's really good trust me it'll change your life"Elesandro says, "What is it" she asked, It's a burger wait let me finish but instead of a bun. It's on top of fried plantains. What we call platanos asked your friend it's amazing" he said.
"Fine I'll have it under one condition you try something you never tried and Ooh I know just the thing," she said. "Aight bet! What is it"he said, giving her his hand out to shake on it as they shook on it . It only made her smile even more"you'll find out soon enough" Joss says.
As he ordered their food" so tell me about yourself Josslyn do you have siblings what you into besides volleyball" Les says. Making her shake her head"funny let me see I have three older brothers. And two sisters one older and one younger what about you Mr. Casanova" she says.
But Les waved it off"Well I'm a triplet. I have two sisters one older by seven minutes and one younger by two years. Then I have two brothers one younger by five minutes or ten minutes I think and a little brother he's 10. And I have a daughter she's four years old" he says, catching her off guard.
She almost choked on her soda"you have a daughter how older are you if you don't mind me asking" Josslyn says. Wiping off her mouth"yes I have a daughter her name is Danisa and I'm nineteen so yes I had her when I was fifteen" Les answered.
Waiting for it to come but it didn't. Joss thought for a moment thinking of Cam and Trina. "Were you scared when you had her"she asked , "a little bit but I remember how it was. When my parents had my baby brother Robbie so used that experience.
But we had other drama I rather not get into. It will kill the vibe,"he said truthfully. Shaking her head"I know it has to be hard with school and everything so do you and her mom have help. I'm only asking because two of my best friends are having a baby" Joss says.
As the man came and put the food down in front of them"Thanks bruh umm her mother is not in the picture but I have a lot of help. From assorted family members okay let me tell you this with the exception of me and Robbie. All my other siblings have already graduated from college. Robbie is in middle school.
So if I can't pick her up my parents or one of my siblings and even other family members. But that doesn't mean it's not hard when your child is sick and they don't want anybody else but you. But you have a test to study for that's when it gets real" Elesandro says "had this man told you he's a genius yet" Danny says.
Slapping him on the back "he was just telling me how most of his siblings graduated already" she answered. "Hey Joss were gonna go for a walk on the beach before our food comes. He ordered an assortment of wings"Naomi says, "is that beer in your hand" Joss said.
Looking at her roommate"yes it is a beer Josslyn parents let me have a beer. I'm Puerto Rican and Costa Rican. Trust me, beer does nothing" she replied, "Danny I'm trusting you with my friend" Josslyn says. When he smiled" I'm trusting you with mines he's been through enough" Danny says laughing making Les laugh as well.
As the boy's slap fives"you stupid bruh"Les says still laughing, when Joss took a bite of her burgers. "Wow that's good okay you were right" she says continuing to eat" see I told you. Just realize that I'm right all the time" he says with a grin. Joss shook her head"definitely not but this time you were"she said as Danny and Naomi went their way.
Leaving them alone as he watched her intently when she looked up from her food she never felt like this. Drink her soda nervously running her hand through her hair "do I make you nervous" Elesandro asked. Shaking her head "No why would you think that" answered picking at her food.
Putting his napkin down cleaning his teeth then folding his hands under his chin "well for one you won't look me in the eyes and when you do it's not for a long time and lastly. Constantly running your hands through your hair all nervous habits i'm a genius Josslyn. You shouldn't be nervous I don't bite unless you won't me to"he said with a smirk.
That sent a shiver down her spine trying to act like his last comment didn't affect her. "I'm not nervous by the way and Danny wouldn't have left me if he thought I was" she replied. He nodded his head "hell he wouldn't leave me if I was uncomfortable being alone with you" Les says making them both laugh. "You're an asshole" Joss says looking at him then pushing her plate away.
Making him look at her with a raised eyebrow" So what's next Josslyn you want to play some games, we have plenty here or we can go for a ride on my boat. If Danny and your friend didn't take it already" he asked, "the motorcycle over there can you ride it" she said. "Yeah I can ride you want to wait have you ever rode one before"Elesandro says, shaking her head "Nooo I was just asking," she said.
Putting his hand out "Trust me I won't let anything happen to you I promise" he replies. When she put her hand in his and getting up and walking over to the motorcycle that's when he took his hair down. Putting on his helmet and giving her the extra one but all she could was stare when he cleared his throat with a smile.
Getting her attention as she took the helmet from him as he helped her put it on "You should wear your hair down more often" Josslyn says, "maybe I'll take that into consideration now get on behind me and hold on tight" he said.
As he got on the motorcycle with her getting on as well and driving off just as Danny and Naomi were coming back. "That big son of bitch took my bike" Danny said as she laughed "Well the food is here"Naomi said. Meanwhile she was nervous getting on but they fell into ease when they pulled over.
"WOW THAT WAS AMAZING WOW I TOTALLY GET IT NOW!" Josslyn said excitedly. All the while he sat and stared at her "You wanna ride it I can teach you" he says. Shaking her head "No I can't ride a motorcycle" she says, "Sure you can, nothing is stopping I'll show you come on" Les says moving back. As she bit her lip before getting on the bike her body shivered as she felt him behind her.
He held her hands, explained to her what to do. She felt his breath on the back of her neck. When she looked back he was just mere inches away as they gazed at each other. "You're ready, '' he says but it was in the way he said it that left her wondering if there was a double meaning to it. Shaking her head "Yeah I'm ready" Joss answered as they took off down the street slowly as the adrenaline kicked in.
Before she knew it she was going faster that's when she realized his hands weren't on the handles anymore it was just her. As she drove them back to the restaurant "OH MY GOD DID I JUST RIDE A FUCKING MOTORCYCLE thanks by the way I knew you were holding it up" she says. Les shook his head "Your welcome you should be proud" he says as she gives him a hug.
Then goes to kiss him on the cheek when he turns and her lips landed on his but neither of them pulled away. Over the next couple of weeks they spent a lot of time together making out a lot. And everyone knew they were kind of dating but neither of them said anything when asked.
They wouldn't see each other next week because she had Molly's wedding to go to next weekend. And he had his cousin's wedding as well so this weekend they would hang outshe even spoke to his daughter on the phone. She smiled when she saw him waved as he took a seat with a girl sitting next to him. It was the first volleyball game of the season she had made it to the starting Line up that's when Gabriella bumped her.
"See I told you freshmen but you didn't listen," she says when Joss looked up. To find the girl whispering in his ear "Whatever bitch" she said trying not to show that she was angry and hurt. She would have to deal with him after the game. All Gabriella held a smug look on her face knowing exactly what she did while Josslyn was pissed. After the game she waited until everyone left because she didn't want to make a scene.
Before she grabbed her stuff storming over to him and shoving him "ARE FUCKING SERIOUS TO HUMILATE ME LIKE THAT" she said as Danny stepped "whoa easy Joss" he said. Les who was taken back "what are you talking about" he said confused shaking her head. "You know what fuck it and fuck you Les you can have your stupid sweater back" Joss said.
Taking his sweater off and tossing it in his face then storming off leaving her friends. Just as Naomi and Elody came back "Where's Joss going what happened" she asked as Lo looked at her brother. That's when he saw Gabriella laughing "Fucking bitch" he said making him look at the laughing girl. Before she walked over to her punching her in the face continuously when Danny grabbed her "let's go, Naomi please check on Joss and let her know it's not like that" he said kissing her.
As they left Naomi looked down at Gabi as her friends helped her up shaking her head then going to check on her friend. When she got to their room"Joss you okay" she asked but Josslyn didn't answer, "well can you just groan and listen to me it's not what you think" Naomi said.
"I don't want to talk about him at all just leave it alone please" Josslyn says, turning her head. Trying to fight back the tears"Joss please if you just let me" was all she got out "NO NAOMI JUST LEAVE IT ALONE OKAY" she said making her friend put her hands up. Then walking away to leave her alone when she stopped"he was bringing his sister to meet you that's who the girl was" she said then leaving.
