A rather interesting arrival

Somewhere within and above US Airspace, we find the Elite Airways CRJ-200 with the Hotel Transylvania party onboard cruising through the sky at an altitude of 32000 feet. During cruise, the characters were basically doing what you'd expect; sitting in the seats and enjoying the ride. Parts of the plane were lit from the open windows while some parts were dark because of the lowered window shades in order to accommodate both Mavis and Dracula. In terms of entertainment though, the only thing to do was just watch the clouds and the ground from out the window; unless you're Johnny and Mavis since those two can just whip out their phones (in Airplane mode, of course) and play a game or two. Considering that they left L.A a little bit after the morning rush, they should be getting to Houston right around the middle of the day and one more thing, they'll be crossing 2 time zones along the way so they're gonna have to adjust their internal clocks once more.

Anyway, the aircraft was cruising through a clear and crisp sky; not a single rain cloud in sight. What was also great was that the ride so far was incredibly smooth, didn't even hit a single patch of turbulence yet. Back inside the cabin, the crew (well…the only crew on board that is) just announced that they should be on the ground in roughly an hour. Right after that, the govt. representative got up from his chair and went over to the Hotel Transylvania party to discuss a few things regarding what to expect once they land and on the ground.

"Well, you guys probably heard by now that we're gonna be on the ground in just roughly an hour." He began. "Beforehand, I just wanted to run a few things by you guys on what to expect when we get there and also what the plan is going forward."

"Go on." Dracula called out while the rest of the group turned toward the guy in front.

"So, once we get on the ground; we have some precautions in place. Like a covered walkway for both you and your daughter, military presence for security and a police escort toward Houston Space Center like I mentioned earlier." He said.

"So…who are these people like?" Griffin asked.

"Pretty similar to like the Secret Service agents from earlier." The govt. representative replied.

Johnny raised his hand to ask a question.

"And no, you can't touch nor play with the military's equipment & weapons." The govt. representative said.

Johnny then lowered his hand in disappointment.

(Meanwhile, at Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base)

There was a good bit going on here at the moment, equipment moving around, canopies being set up and troops getting into position. Overseeing the whole operation (not a typical one, but a small one) is none other than General Koker. He was watching his men get the base ready for the arrival of the Hotel Transylvania party and even though his squad is usually reliable, they're only halfway done with the preparations and Koker was quite upset with this. So, he got with his 2nd in command to discuss the situation.

"So, you're telling me we're not even close to being ready for their arrival?" Koker asked while having a look of disgust.

"We're trying sir." His comrade replied. "Doesn't help when we're given short notice here."

"You guys had PLENTY of time to get this going!" Koker barked. "Did you guys not get the memo!?"

His comrade pulled out his smartphone to look through the recent messages and it turns out the inbox was full.

"Oh…. whoops." He replied upon realizing this embarrassment.

Koker just gave him the death glare.

"I guess I should get back to helping the rest of the squad, eh?" His comrade asked nervously.

"Yeah…just don't let that happen again." Koker replied. "Otherwise, you and the rest of the squad are giving me 5o0 & the obstac-"

"Uh…chief? You may wanna look at this." The radio called out while interrupting the conversation.

"What's that?" Koker replied while holding the pager.

"Looks like we got ourselves an inbound from the northeast…and it ain't one of ours." The radio replied.

General Koker and his 2nd in command went outside where the rest of the squad was (while continuing with their preparations) and took out his binoculars. What he saw was a small white jet aircraft with it's lights on, gear down and coming in hot. He immediately recognized who it was.

"It's them." He replied.

He then proceeded to get his troops in line to run through the briefing.

"Alright men." He began. "We're getting some special company coming in and all this work we've been doing is in order to accommodate them, especially since two of them can't be out in the sun."

"What makes this particular group 'special' that warrants all of this?" One of the soldiers asked.

"You're familiar with the story regarding Bigtop Bill and his capture, right?" Koker asked. "They're basically the party that led to his downfall and apprehension, which is a big deal considering he was really high up on the FBI's most wanted list."

"Now, before we actually see them, some things to know." His 2nd in command said. "First off, the main person of interest here is the female (and she has a boyfriend already so don't get any ideas)."

Parts of the squad groaned in disappointment upon hearing this; causing both General Koker & his 2nd in command to raise eyebrows.

"Second off; even though they're actually monsters…except for one, we need to treat them as if they're part of us. Dignity & respect runs deep in this squad and we need to do the same to them." The 2nd in command noted. "Third off-"

"Hate to interrupt, but…we've got company." The radio called out.

This caused Koker, his 2nd in command, and the squad to turn toward the field where they saw the Elite Airways aircraft glide in for a landing with a soft touchdown to complement.

"Smooth as butter…excellent." General Koker noted upon seeing this. "Better than some of the airmen in our squad."

"I heard that!" One of them called out.

Eventually, the plane rolled to a slow crawl and turned off the runway. When it got close enough, General Koker ordered the base's fire engines to shoot out a stream of water while the aircraft passed under. Within the airplane, the Hotel Transylvania party was quite surprised by this particular move. Then again, a flight always gets this kind of treatment for any special occasion. Afterward, the ground crew guided the plane in to its parking spot and gave the signal to shut down the engines. Following that, the squad pulled the canopy covering toward the base of the aircraft while the main door opened. After receiving the signal, the Hotel Transylvania party exited the aircraft. Upon getting to the bottom of the aircraft steps, they were greeted by both General Koker and his 2nd in command.

"So, you're the one who brought down Bigtop Bill, eh?" Koker asked while looking at Mavis.

"Guess so." The vampiress replied.

"Quite unconventional considering how it all went down, but extremely impressive regardless." Koker said.

"From what we and our squad saw, we're extremely impressed with how the whole thing went down." The 2nd in command added. "The part that stood out to us though was you pulling off an immaculate escape from his hideout and then that epic car chase…THAT was gutsy."

"You could say that again." Mavis replied while recalling the scenario.

"And I assume you are…" The 2nd in command said while looking towards Dracula.

"Her father." Dracula finished.

"Right…" The 2nd in command said upon realizing this.

General Koker raised his eyebrow upon hearing his 2nd in command not realizing that initially…considering that there's actual files of them from the whole fiasco in LA and also that he had plenty of time to brush up on them prior.

"How embarrassing…" Koker said under his breath while turning towards him. He then proceeded to turn back toward the rest of the party.

"Anyway…I assume this is everyone in the party unless we're missing someone else."

"We're just missing Frank; other than that, we're all here." Dracula replied.

"Great." General Koker said while nodding to the govt. representative that accompanied them. He then turned around and grabbed his pager.

"Hey, you guys have an update on that FedEx freighter yet?" He whispered into the pager.

"Erm…which one chief?" They replied.

"The one carrying their friend." Koker said to clarify.

"That one." They replied. "It…looks like they've hit a bit of a problem in Phoenix."

"What kind of problem?" Koker asked upon hearing this.

"Just fuel." They replied. "Apparently, the dunderheads over in LAX forgot to top off the fuel tanks. So, they stopped over to get more."

"Great…how long's the delay?" Koker asked.

"A couple hours…minimum." They replied.

"Ugh…" Koker groaned. "I might as well have the ones here head over to Sonny Carter so that way, we're not burning daylight."

"And what about the other one?" They asked.

"Just haven them move the box over to Sonny Carter when that FedEx plane gets here." Koker replied while then turning off the pager.

Afterward, he turned back toward the Hotel Transylvania party; who happened to get wind of what was going on with Frank.

"Don't you hate it when they don't remember to take care of things prior to leaving?" Koker asked them.

"Tell me about it." Dracula replied while recalling when they encountered a similar situation prior to leaving Transylvania in the first place.

"Anyway, I think it's time we head to Sonny Carter." The 2nd in command said to his superior.

"Yep, it is." Koker replied.

He then stepped toward the side while extending his arm outward.

"Right this way." He added.

The Hotel Transylvania party then proceeded the rest of the way underneath the walkway until they reached the end; and what waited for them was a limousine. Unlike the one in Los Angeles, this one wasn't one of the Presidential ones. To compensate though, it had a police escort. Once everyone got in and secured themselves, the govt. representative proceeded to inform the group on where they're heading to.

"Alright, so remember when I mentioned that you all have to undergo specific training prior to flying on the Virgin Galactic spacecraft?" He asked.

The Hotel Transylvania party all nodded in agreement.

"Well, we're heading over to a place called Sonny Carter." The govt. representative said. "It's one of the many training facilities NASA uses to train new astronaut recruits, or AsCans as they call it."

"I heard that place has a HUGE swimming pool!" Johnny exclaimed.

The rest of the Hotel Transylvania party lit up in enthusiasm upon hearing this.

"True, but it ain't a recreational one…at all." The govt. representative replied with a serious tone.

The Hotel Transylvania party's enthusiasm immediately faded upon hearing this.

"Listen, I'll tell you guys a bit more about it when we get there." The govt. representative said. "For now, just sit back and enjoy the ride over."

And that's what everyone did as the police escorted limo drove off from the air base. General Koker, his 2nd in command, and the entire squad looked on at their departure. Afterward, the General turned back toward his squad and told them to dismantle the canopy over the walkway and then get back to their usual work on the air base.

Author's note: Well...It's been a while for me here in the Hotel Transylvania fandom. Lingering writers block combined with a busy life schedule has eaten up quite a bit of my time (although, I just accomplished a major milestone recently by earning my Bachelor's degree).

Despite that, I'm still committed to producing updates for my works here on the site as well as some new ideas whenever I have both the time & motivation.

One more thing, I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to those who find/read/enjoy my works as well as those leaving reviews. Always cool to see what everyone thinks of my stuff.

That's it for now and I hope you continue to stick around and enjoy.
