A/N: I have been loving all the reviews so far. I hear you people! I know you want them to get together and for Arizona to have her lightbulb moment and realize that Miss Miami and Callie are one person, but I have a storyline planned for them that I want to achieve before I get to the really good part!
Okay! Shout outs! I read this the other day and I'm absolutely in love with it. It's called 'One and only' by merderrobbins. I feel like I really love the storyline the author has set up and it definitely has a lot of potential. Please go read and review their work!
Thank you so much for all your love and please enjoy the drama in this chapter!
Chapter 5
Sharing that elevator ride with Arizona had been a trip. God! Look at her, they were on a first name basis. She no longer referred to Arizona as the bitch that stood her up, or the bitch that doesn't like what she did. She was Arizona, the person who calmed her down when she started freaking out in that elevator. The person who took a look at her ankle, not because she was asked to do so, but because she wanted to help. That was friendship, right?
Although the brunette enjoyed their newfound friendship, she did feel a bit uneasy because she hadn't told Arizona her full truth. When the blonde asked her what she did or a living, she said that she was an artist. All of her friends knew that she was a burlesque performer and it just felt wrong to Callie to hide it from her. She was wearing her workout clothes, so the blonde had to know that she did something physical, right? That her work involved a lot of moving around? Also, she had twisted her ankle, so it was a dead giveaway that she was some sort of a dancer, right?
Anyway, whatever they were it was new. Right now, Callie needed to focus on Addie. It was her last day here in Seattle and she really wanted to spend as much time as she could with her.
The brunette made her way to the OB floor before she spotted the redhead in her pick scrubs and a pink gown inside the NICU. "Why are you not dressed yet? We are supposed to head out!" Callie exclaimed outside the doors of the NICU.
"Have you looked at the weather?"
"I know it's a bit rough but-"
"The hospital lost power for like thirty minutes. We were busy making sure that people didn't die on us, that the babies in the NICU survived, have you looked outside?"
Callie glanced at the window and found it to be pitch black, it was only noon.
"Damn!" Callie said as she folded her arms. "But it was fine a couple of minutes ago."
"Cal, you are the one living in Seattle! Don't you know the weather here is very fickle?"
"Yeah, that is what I have been told recently."
The redhead paused for a moment "You said things were fine when you entered the hospital? Where were you when the power went out?"
Callie swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat "In the elevator."
The surgeon crossed the distance between the two of them and leaned in to hug her "Are you okay?" she knew Callie and her fear of confined spaces, it must have been hell for her to be trapped in the elevator for such a long time. "Were you alone?"
"Nope." Callie said as she popped the p in her word. "I was trapped with Arizona."
Even though she was glad that her friend was not by herself for an extended period of time, she wasn't happy that the person she was with was with the blonde pediatric surgeon. "Doesn't sound like it was pleasant at all. How did it go?"
"Actually…"
"No way, tell me you guys did not have sex in the fucking elevator!"
What? Having sex in an elevator? Mark had told her crazy stories about what happened in the hospital and she presumed that it was just his lifestyle. But man was she wrong.
"First of all, indoor voices!" Callie started as a couple of nurses were looking their way and smirking at her "Secondly, ew no, I hated her! There was no way I was going to have sex with her in an elevator, that's just gross!"
Addie paused as she noted the past tense in her friend's sentence. "What do you mean 'hated'?"
"That I didn't like her before," Callie explained.
"But you do now?" Addie said as she pulled the stethoscope away from the baby who had started fussing from being touched by the instrument. "I need to know more. But before that, go grab that pink gown and put it on and come inside." The red head pointed to the stack of NICU gowns.
"Wait, I can do that?"
"Sure, we are running low on doctors here, you are almost one and if anything were to go wrong, I trust that you can do CPR."
Callie looked around the entire ward, there were a couple of nurses but they were busy reassuring worried parents. There were some she recognized as interns scrambling around and tripping up with patient charts in their arms.
She couldn't help but remember her days as an intern with all the running around and sucking up to attendings, when all she wanted to do was get a badass ortho case and grab a bone saw. But well, daddy was watching, daddy was paying attention to where his money was going, so she stuck with cardio. She had passed her intern exams with flying colors. In fact, she had topped her class. Her chief had called her the most promising resident. But it took Callie another year to realize that medicine was not for her.
"Calliope Torres! Please tell me you have kept up with your CPR certification!" Addie looked at her with big wide eyes.
When the brunette told her about wanting to quit med school, she was extremely supportive, but she told her to keep up with her certification that she already had. If Callie didn't want to be a doctor that was fine, but if someone had a heart attack while she was on the train or someone was choking on their food, the brunette should be able to save them. The performer was more than okay with that deal.
"Hey! If you are not allowed to call me Calliope and yes, of course I know CPR. God, last time I was in the NICU was that awful peds rotation I had to endure" it wasn't that Callie had anything against peds, but the week that she was assigned peds in her intern year, she had lost three kids. Which had taken a toll on the brunette and added to why she wanted to quit medicine.
"Alright, come inside then and put on that gown," Callie looked a little unsure of it, but she did realize that in case things were to go wrong Addie would need her. The redhead watched her friend as she grabbed some sanitizer and thoroughly put it on her hands before putting on a gown and tying it on her back. "So… Arizona?"
"Right!" Callie couldn't help but be in awe as the baby she was tending to grabbed her finger and held onto it. She knew it was a thing that babies did, but damn the baby was cute. "She calmed me down in the elevator, took a look at my ankle and-"
"Wait, your ankle is still hurting you?" Addie raised her voice.
The baby that was holding onto Callie's finger woke up as her face scrunched up as she started crying. The brunette carefully took the baby out of her crib and held her up against her chest as she swayed her back and forth "Really? This is your specialty, please keep your voice down."
"Sorry, if I'm too concerned about my friend."
Callie swayed the baby as she tried to soothe her. She couldn't help but notice the long scar running down her middle "What's wrong with this one?"
"That's baby Sofia. She had a heart transplant and she's one week post op," Addie replied as she made sure none of the other babies woke up. "What's wrong with your ankle?"
"Nothing!"
"Callie-"
"I swear! Even Arizona took a look at it and said that she didn't think I needed scans. She didn't think I had any ligament tears or nerve damage, it's the weather flaring it up."
"Hmm…" Addison still wanted to take a look at it but she knew her friend wouldn't allow it. Callie was a mama bear. She was the one who took care of pop and took pride and being self-sufficient in everything she did. Addie knew she couldn't get through all the stubbornness, so she let it go. Besides if Dr. Robbins isn't worried, why should she be?
The baby in Callie's arms had calmed down and was busy playing with her hair. It was a miracle how the babies would calm down just by being held. She tried to place the baby back in her crib, but the baby just tightened her hold on her.
Meh, she could always hold the baby a little longer.
"Yeah, so I just wanted to tell you to be aware of Arizona."
"What do you mean?" she asked as she watched the baby laying her head on her shoulder. This was one thing she missed about being in a hospital, the joy.
"She had a reputation of sleeping around."
"So does Mark."
"Yes, but Mark is not trying to sleep with you."
That got Callie's attention "Arizona is not trying to sleep with me, we are just… I'm trying to be friends with her."
"When we were having lunch together that day, she couldn't help but undress you with her eyes! Of course, she wants to fuck you!"
Callie looked down at the baby in her arms "Can we not use words like F-U-C-K in here? It feels wrong."
"You know they are too young to remember this."
"Still!"
By now the baby in her arms was sound asleep, but she still couldn't let go of the baby. There was just something so soothing about the babies.
"Callie, I just, I don't want to see you get hurt."
The brunette smiled. "And I'm so glad to have you in my life, but Arizona and I are just friends." Callie hoped that sounded convincing enough because she didn't want to tell her friend that she had pictured the blonde while she took her vibrator out for a spin.
Addie held out her hands as she took the baby from Callie's arms and placed it in her crib "I'm done, let's head out," Callie nodded as she missed the weight of the baby in her arms. She quickly peeled off the NICU gown from her body as she dumped it in the nearby bin.
"So, do we have time for lunch or do you have to leave straight away?"
"Oh! My flight got cancelled, I'm flying out tomorrow."
Callie stopped in her tracks, "What? Why didn't you tell me? I wouldn't have come here!"
"What! Sorry, I didn't think that texting you was a priority over dealing with these babies!"
The brunette sighed, "Yeah okay, that's fair!"
"You want to stay for lunch?"
"Nope. I'm good, I need to go over some new choreography with the girls but since the weather seems better and you are leaving tomorrow, I'll go do that right now."
Lucky for her she had come to the hospital in her workout clothes so she didn't need to take an added detour to her apartment. She could just take a cab to her club and make it to rehearsals on time.
Callie had been rehearsing for this routine for quite some time. It was a bit more challenging in terms of choreography. There were a couple of lifts that had scared her when she was initially introduced to them earlier in the week. She also had a little accident which came from landing on her foot a little too hard. But she loved it, it was a new venture and she was up for it.
The producer of the show had promised her that she would get to choose her own accessories since they had taken control over what songs she can sing and the outfits she can wear. Callie wanted to go full dominatrix on it.
Since the song and choreography was sexy, she wanted to accessorize accordingly. She had taken Mark to a sex store to pick out some stuff for her to wear.
Callie couldn't help but think about the pink frilly handcuffs that had caught her attention. They had just screamed Arizona to her. It was something the blonde would have purchased. It was just so perky and pink. Callie imagined being tied up in those cuffs as the blonde rode her.
Suddenly, Callie was transported back to the elevator. Arizona leaned down and kissed her hard on her lips, so hard that she was sure that the blonde had drawn blood.
"You like to play with the audience, don't you? To play with me?" Arizona freed her hair from her hair tie and threw it away before she ran her hand through her hair. "It sucks, when the tables are turned isn't it?"
Callie tried to grab a hold of Arizona's waist to pull her closer towards her but she felt something holding her back. She looked down at her wrists and saw the same cuffs around her wrists.
She felt Arizona's lips on her earlobe as she bit it "You like me, don't you?"
Callie scoffed "I don't."
"Oh yeah? Then say you don't want me, I dare you."
"I-" Callie tried to form words, but she couldn't get herself to say it, especially with the way Arizona was grinding her hips against her. So, Callie just grabbed the blonde's arm and put it on her boob instead.
The blonde chuckled "I thought so," before she roughly pulled down her top and her bra cup and attacked her nipple with her teeth.
"Oh god!" she could feel Arizona smiling against her boob but the surgeon didn't falter for one bit. She took the other nipple in her mouth as her tongue played with it. Soon enough, her mouth was replaced with her fingers as she felt Arizona scooting down her legs and parting her knees.
The blonde was completely lying on the floor of the elevator with her face so close, yet too far from her throbbing center.
"Arizona, please?" she begged and Callie was not some one who begged for anything, but under Arizona's hands, she was melting and she was melting fast.
"Please what?"
"Just touch me!"
"Shhh! You teased me a lot last week. You know how many times you walked away from me, swaying those gorgeous hips of yours? How many times I thought about you playing with that pretty little pussy of yours? We need to get even, don't we?" Arizona replied as she bit her inner thigh.
Callie's back arched as she felt Arizona peppering kisses all over her legs. She still had her yoga pants on, so the sensation was a lot muted but the blonde's hand that was on her nipple was still pinching her and flicking her that it was almost too much for her. The brunette could see Arizona watching her. She looked pleased with whatever she saw with the playful smile that was on her face. The blonde's hands were magic.
Soon enough, she felt the surgeon's breath on the lips of her sex. If she could, she would have grabbed her face and showed it against her core.
"Look at that Callie, you're so wet that I can see your juices through your yoga pants."
"You make me so hot, it's all for you."
"Oh yeah? Then why do you tease me so much?"
"I don't tease-" and then she felt the blonde's teeth on her glistening folds "Oh god!"
"You like that?" Callie nodded, not being able to grab the blonde was making her frustrated, but at the same time the whole experience seemed to turn her on even more.
She felt Callie pulling down her yoga pants and underwear in one fell sweep as her tongue darted out and lapped up all the juices.
"Fuck me!"
"That's what I plan on doing!" Arizona said as she lightly bit the brunette's clitoris before her tongue reached out and soothe the gentle nip. Callie tried to find purchase on something, anything, but being in an elevator with her arms tied she had nothing she could hold on to.
She felt the blonde planting a few more kisses on her clit as Arizona trusted two fingers into her.
The ding of the elevator brought Callie out of her reverie and a very real sex daydream with the blonde. What had gotten into her, a moment ago she hated the blonde and now she was having sex dream with her.
"It's okay, we can take the stairs if you are a little freaked out about taking the elevator again."
Oh, Addison thought that it was fear on her face. Well fear was better than arousal and having to explain what was on her mind. "That's fine, what's the possibility of the elevator going down again?"
The two of them stepped inside of the elevator. "Oh! Did you bring the thunderbird? Can we take her out?"
Of course, the surgeon missed her car more than she missed her. But it was okay, Addison probably drove her car more than she did. It was a gorgeous car, everybody loved it!
"Nope the T-bird is in Miami and will stay there till the end of time."
"Let her out Callie, it's a sweet car and definitely a chick magnet."
Callie chuckled "I'm practicing celibacy here. Wouldn't it be counterproductive?" How can the brunette say that she was practicing celibacy when she had just had that extremely naughty thoughts about Arizona?
"I could take it out for you! That car deserves more, you know it!"
"Honestly Addison, I would give you the car but like everything in my life Carlos has looked it up."
It had been a while since she heard from her father and even longer since she had called him dad.
To Callie, family was everything. But the way her dad had left out in the open had truly hurt her. She thought that such a man didn't deserve to be called dad by her. So, Callie went ahead and did what her heart told her and completely cut ties from him. She was disowned and thrown out of the house for dropping med school, if she didn't want to call Carlos dad, she sure as hell can do it!
Callie quickly checked her watch. If she left now, she could make it to rehearsals on time. "Anyway, I gotta go."
"What why? You just got here!"
"I came here because I thought you were leaving."
"I am!"
"Tomorrow, plus I need to stretch my ankle out a bit."
Take care, don't do something I won't."
"My whole career revolves around something you won't do in a million years."
"You know what I mean! Have a great show!"
"Thanks!"
Arizona came by just in time to see Callie walking away. hasn't she had enough of that already? It was what was the third, maybe the fourth time the brunette has walked away from her. Had she not dropped enough hints that she was interested? She told her that she worked on the floor before, all she had to do was to ask one of the nurses where she was, that was it.
"Hey, was that Callie?"
"Yup, you just missed her."
Addison looked at her, the smile she had on her face wasn't the usual 'I'm just being friendly' smile, it was a flirty smile. Addison was not gay but she knew the effect her friend had on the crowd. Callie was drop dead gorgeous and being that way got a lot more negative attention than positive, because of which she feels that she has to be protective of her friend.
Her friend was perfect, she deserved the world, not some person pining after her just for sex. She will not let Callie get hurt by some blonde again.
"It's the thrill of the chase, isn't it?"
Addison grabbed a chart by the nurse's station. She was going to set things straight. She couldn't bear to see her with this woman who liked to sleep around so much that she could actually compete against mark. Hell, she could win or at least tie the game.
"What?" Arizona was confused. What was the redhead talking about?
"You like that she didn't jump into bed with you that's why you are trying to nail her, that if you bed her, she'll no longer be interesting to you."
Where was all this coming from? She thought she had an exceptional repo with the surgeon, but clearly, she was wrong "With all due respect you don't know me Dr. Montgomery."
Addison looked at her like she couldn't believe her ears, if someone was going to accuse the blonde of something she wasn't she wasn't going to sit down and take it without putting up a fight. "You're right, but I know my friend and I have seen people come and go in her life. She doesn't deserve this. Any of this."
Arizona would have thought the entire thing to be sweet, but what happened between her and Callie was none of the redhead's business. Besides she hasn't done anything wrong to warranty a hound on her tail.
"I just want to get to know her… You know what, I don't owe you any explanation and I am not who you think you are."
"Really?" Addison said as she folded her arms. "So, you're telling me you don't sleep with women left and right? That you don't sleep with every woman that walks. I might have spent a week here but I think I got a pretty good idea of your ways…"
"Well your precious Callie isn't something worth pinning after. You can have her, I know she's new in town and I thought that I could show her around and not what did you say, 'bed her'. I'm done you can keep her."
She hadn't meant to be so rude to the OB surgeon but she had had it with accusation. Callie and her were barely friends. What was all this talk about bedding her. Did she want to have sex with the brunette? hell yah, she would have to be blind and out of her mind to not want to want the Latina and even then, a small part of her would reach out for Callie.
What Arizona wanted more was to get to know her. She was clearly upset about something. More than anything, Arizona wanted to give the brunette her light back. She wanted to be the reason Callie smiled, she wanted to hear what it would sound like when she laughed, when she was worried.
Clearly, she and Addison were on the same team. They both wanted what was best for Callie, but apparently, she had been coming off a bit too hard for the redhead.
But right now, more than anything, she was upset. She didn't want to talk about Callie anymore so she pulled out her best smile "Alright, my shift is about over. You can page me if you need me. I live only ten minutes away from the hospital"
"Sure, whatever"
Arizona walked away and went to meet up her friend at the cardio floor. She felt so exhausted at the same time angry at everything and she knew that her friend can do something to calm her down.
"Oh wow!" Teddy exclaimed "I'm sure people can smell the red-hot rage coming from you about a mile away."
Arizona swatted her shoulder "You have any plans for today?"
"I wasn't sure about this, but looks now is the best time to use them," Teddy reached into her pocket and pulled out two tickets.
"Are these for the burlesque show?" Teddy nodded. "How did you manage to get them? I tried to book them and they were sold out."
"Well Dr. Robbins I have my way. Besides you told me how it went down with Miss Miami, I thought I could give you a chance to patch things up."
Arizona leaned forward and tightly bugged the cardiac surgeon. "Honestly Teddy, how did you get these?"
"Believe it or not Mark Sloan has a contact at the show."
Arizona smiled. "That doesn't surprise me on bit"
"Maybe Miss Miami can cheer you up," she said as she rubbed her back "Oh! Maybe this time I can buy you a lap dance! I have never done that before."
"Sure. I don't mind." Arizona didn't want to show Teddy how happy she was going to the strip show, when in fact the cardiac surgeon knew the impact Miss Miami had on her.
"That's not the enthusiasm I want."
Arizona smiled. "Fine let's go."
"Let's go?" Teddy asked as she raised her voice.
"Yes! That's the spirit!" Teddy said as the two of them made their way to the locker room.
Yes! the blonde didn't have to wait another week to go watch the performer. Maybe this time she can tell Miss Miami she didn't mean to stand her up and it was because of Alex that she didn't take on her invitation.
A couple of more minutes and she'll be face to face with her. She couldn't wait!
A/N: How was that? I wasn't sure about the direction I wanted to take in this chapter, but let me tell you, you are not ready for the next chapter, I have so much stuff planned for the second time Arizona comes face to face with Miss Miami.
I know you guys are waiting for Arizona to recognize Callie, but I really want to write something so hot between the two of them before she realizes that she has been falling for the same person.
I changed the story up a bit, Callie finished her intern year and her first year as a resident before she quit.
