Chapter five:

L and Light are sitting together discussing ideas for what the message from the original Kira should entail. They are also trying to pick a good place for the staged meet up to happen.

Soichiro glances to two of them as the others are reviewing things that they currently know about the case. He does feel some pride swelling in his chest seeing his son helping the world's greatest detective in doing something. He smiles softly to himself really glad that L had allowed the brunette to join them.

"They probably would make a great team. If I remember what you said Light has always been at the top of his class." Matsuda mentions coming to stand next to Soichiro looking at the two who are hard at work together.

"I think you're right and that it is possible." Soichiro admits to the other with a nod. He doesn't take his eyes away from watching the two who are clearly absorbed in their work to really pay attention to what the others are doing. "They're on a whole other level compared to the rest of us." He admits to the other who is standing next to him.

"They sure are." Matsuda confirms and raises a hand to rub the back of his head. "Heh. Kind of makes me feel like they could complete the case alone. Without the rest of us being here to help them out with it."

Soichiro finally turns away from the two to look to Matsuda. "Even so. It is clear to me that L still wants the rest of us to stay to help with the case. I think he knows that even though he and Light are on another level it is always good to have more minds working on this kind of case."

Matsuda lowers his hand to his side and turns his attention to looking at Soichiro meeting the others eyes. "Yeah. I do suppose that you are right about that. Who knows what we could miss without all of us working on this."

"Plus this might make the case go by faster." Soichiro pats a hand on Matsuda's shoulder as he turns away to head back to the others to resume work. He does pause to share a last few words about this with the other man, his hand resting on the others shoulder. "We need to catch these two Kiras. The sooner we bring this case to a close the better for everyone. Since the world will be safer without anyone like them running around in the world. Deciding who will die and who will live. They're playing a dangerous game of God." He lets his hand fall off of the younger cop's shoulder as he heads away to join the others, who hadn't even noticed their little conversation going on.

Matsuda watches Soichiro head away for a few moments then he turns to look to L and Light who are still absorbed in their work. He finally turns away and walks along after Soichiro to join the others in working once more.

Elsewhere in the city a disguised Misa is walking along the sidewalk by a busy street. She looks around herself scanning for anyone with no lifespan visible. She so far hasn't seen anyone that meets what she is looking for. She knows that it is time that a bunch of people are getting off work while a bunch of others are still working. She also is aware that students are going to be going out to hang with their friends since school is over for the day. She hopes that maybe this will allow her to be able to spot Kira without drawing attention to herself. She feels like if she can get the name of whoever is doing all of this then she could pass that information to L. She feels a tingle of excitement go up her spine. She could be truly noticed by her idol, and if she is dreaming then maybe she'll be able to actually meet him. She holds onto the hope that she will meet the great L if she does manage to tell him who Kira is. She does plan to share everything with him. She just feels like before she contacts him she should figure out who is probably Kira… Or at least who else has a Death note meaning that they could be Kira. She is well aware of Rem following behind her, and is also very grateful that the other had decided to allow her to have a Death note.

A means in order to find Kira and to be able to help the worlds greatest detective.

It really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Misa brings her focus away from thinking about those facts to more closely look for her target person. She keeps glancing to everyone that she sees trying to do quick scans as she rules out anyone who has more than a name. She doesn't even pay attention to the lifespan floating above their heads. She isn't interested in when strangers will die right now. She can use that later as a way to perhaps help trick the real Kira into trusting her. She has a slight bounce in her step knowing that she is going to be very helpful. She keeps going hoping and wishing that each person she spots will be the one… Only to feel some disappointment go through her as she doesn't see what she happens to be looking for. After a little bit of searching Misa starts to feel her heart heavy with disappointment that she hasn't found anything. She turns away stopping in her walking and she stares at the sidewalk a little thoughtful. She does need to figure out what she is going to do after all of this.

"Perhaps we should go back and see if Kira responded to your message?" Rem suggests causing Misa to look up then turn to the Shinigami who is behind her.

Misa slightly glances away after meeting Rem's eyes. She nods her head softly knowing that the other is right that it is their only other choice. She had just been hoping that she could find this person sooner, though she reasons in her head that it really had been a longshot on whether she found said person or not. She shakes off her disappointment knowing that it won't be of any help to her. She must focus on what she is going to do with her next steps. She will wait for a response from Kira though she also wants to start planning for when it does come through. She turns and begins walking on the path to get back to her hotel room with Rem staying close behind her.

Later that evening….

Misa shifts around a bit nervous and excited on the hotel's couch as she waits for the news she has on to report any possible response. She feels rather nervous as she is going to give Kira the rest of today and tomorrow to respond to her message, before she tries to figure out another step to possibly lure Kira out of hiding wherever he or she happens to be.

"And in further news this station along with others have received something that we will now play for everyone here." The news reporters words cause Misa to stop shifting and to slightly lean closer to the TV.

The screen shifts to a bronze background with a word in cursive in a shining gold color.

Kira.

"He responded!" Misa cheers as soon as that appears. Her heart is soaring as her plan is really all coming together. She brings her attention to what is being said knowing that she needs to take in the information presented.

"Hello second Kira. I as you can already tell am Kira. I received your message and saw what you had done to prove yourself. If you really have the same ability as me then I do believe that you will be very helpful to my cause. To rid the world of criminals so that it can be safer." The message plays as Misa listens closely to what Kira has to say to her. "I would like to meet up with you if that is possible. So that we can work together much closer. We could be unstoppable as we change the world for the better."

Misa briefly thinks that all that this talk about making the world a better place is just a bit much. She knows that there will always be bad people whether or not they possibly die if they are revealed to be criminals. She thinks about how this will only cause the criminals to hide better and to get craftier at getting away with their crimes. She wonders if Kira has even thought about that when he had decided to try to rid of criminals once and for all. She brings her attention back as Kira gives out a general location for the meet up. She knows that he is being cautious about not giving a specific location. "Townsquare tomorrow afternoon huh?" She whispers to herself then smiles a little. "Well it will have other people around. Though I know that he is planning for us to be sneaky about our meet up." She doesn't want to be arrested by the police if she is caught in a suspicious meet up with Kira. So she plans to use her eyes to spot Kira then she will meet up with him later. Once she knows who she needs to really look for. She bets that he will appreciate this way of doing this so she'll seem more useful to him if she shows she can be sneaky. "It is perfect." She adds in a whisper then listens to the last bit of the message that hasn't stopped playing.

"I really do hope that you are ready to prove yourself even more to me. I want to ensure of things before we officially begin to work together."

Misa finds a smile on her face ends up widening. "Oh don't you worry Kira." She tells to the TV even though it isn't the one that she is wanting to actually speak these words to. "I am going to show you that I will be a great help to your plan. Even if you only view me as a pawn that is the very least that I need to be to you." She will do this and she truly will make sure that nothing goes wrong. Even if she has to figure out a new plan on the spot when their meeting actually ends up taking place. She is willing to be prepared to change her plan to depend on what ends up happening at her meeting with Kira. Though for now everything is going just how she had been hoping that it would. "Time to prepare." She gets off the couch turning off the TV as the message comes to an end. She heads to the hotel bedroom to put together a disguise for when she will be at the meeting spot that has been given to her.
