IllusionSign (Guest): Good, that was the goal.
Gamelover41592: Yeah, I don't watch the anime so I don't know anything about it.
Omni Spectator (Guest): I know that it was a little far fetched, but it actually had meaning for later in the story. You'll see.
Guest: Yeah, I guess that was pretty obvious.
Alright, a party and then, the journey begins (I forgot how long the opening to these games were)
"Hurry up, Emma!" Kitty whined as she dragged her sister towards Iki Town.
"I'm coming Kitty! But first, I want to see if there are any Pokémon to add to my team!" Emma replied as she pulled her hand away.
"Fine! But don't be late!" Kitty declared as she skipped off. Emma sat down under a tree, scanning the Pokémon in the grass. Most of them were very disinterested in her and her Pokédex scanning them for information. She then noticed a group of Yungoos attempting to attack a Grubbin over some berries. There was a whole pile nearby, so Emma could tell they were just bullying a smaller Pokémon. With a grunt, Emma stood up and grabbed her Pokéball.
"Litten, scare them off!" She ordered as she tossed the ball forwards. Litten jumped out with a cry as it raced over to the Yungoos, sending them all scurrying back into the grass. "I hate bullies."
"Mrwar!"
"You said it," Emma agreed. "C'mon. Kitty will kill me if I waste anymore time. How about I leave you out of your Pokéball?" Litten just gave her a smile. As the two rushed towards Iki Town, they didn't notice that something was following them.
"I'm here!" Emma called out as she bent down to catch her breath. She was exhausted. She ran all the way there. She honestly had no idea why she did that. Litten, on the other hand, looked perfectly fine. Hala walked over to her.
"As you know, the Alola region is made up of our four islands," Hala began. "And each island has its own guardian Pokémon. Our festival today is held to express our thanks to these great Pokémon guardian deities for always remaining by our sides. Well, we may call it a festival, but it's just this little thing you see here. There may not be many of us, but at least every last one of us here goes all out!"
"Yeah, but sometimes, smaller is better," Emma said with a smile. Hala laughed and patted her on the shoulder. Taking that as a cue, Emma walked towards the platform. Hau and Kitty were waiting by the steps.
"Em! You finally showed up!" Kitty cheered. "Hau and I have been waiting for ages!"
"Sorry it took me so long. You know how I get when I'm doing my research," Emma admitted. "I am going to destroy you both in the battles tonight!"
"That seems likely, considering that you have two Pokémon now!" Kitty laughed. Emma's face morphed into one of confusion.
"Wait, two?" She questioned before turning around. Litten was standing behind her, as was the Grubbin she saved. "Did...did you follow me all the way here!?"
"Grub!"
"You got a Grubbin?" Hau asked. "How'd you catch it?"
"I didn't catch it," Emma admitted as she knelt down. "Some Yungoos were picking on it and I had Litten chase them off." Now that she was closer, she could see why the Grubbin had followed her. There were scratches all over its body and was seemingly looking around in fear. Emma realized that she was most likely the first creature to even be nice to it.
"Well, it seems like it already likes you!" Hau marveled as he put his hands behind his head.
"I don't see any reason for you not to add that Grubbin to your team, Em," Kukui declared as he and Lillie walked over to the group. "Seems like it already wants to join you!"
Emma pulled out a Pokéball. "What do you say?" Grubbin tapped on the Pokéball, letting itself be sucked inside. As soon as the process was finished, Emma stood back up and tossed the ball forwards, releasing Grubbin.
"I guess it's time then!" Kukui announced.
"But for what exactly?" Lillie asked.
Kukui smiled proudly. "A full-powered festival for Pokémon battling! We battle in the name of Tapu Koko, pitting our best moves against one another in friendly competition to please our guardian! Woo!"
"So you three will be taking part in the battle?" Lillie asked. She then looked sheepish. "I don't like seeing Pokémon fight one another, since they so often end up getting hurt...but this seems like an important event, so I'll be sure to watch you all." Hala then walked over.
"Remember you three, your Pokémon have fought for you, so show them the same care in return," He reminded them. "Allow me to heal them for you." Emma returned her Pokémon to their Pokéballs and then handed them to Hala, who healed them for her, then handed them back to her. He then repeated the process with Kitty and Hau. "Now, are you three ready?"
"YES!" All three declared.
"Then let's begin!" Hala announced.
"For all life on our islands…" Hala began as he stood on the platform. "...and for those who undertake the island challenge with joy in their hearts….we pray for your protection…for them and all Melemele. May this Pokémon battle be an offering to our island's guardian deity-Tapu Koko! Before you stands Hau-grandson of the Kahuna." Hau then walked onto the platform. "Before him stands Kitty, one of the daughters of the professor and one who has met with Tapu Koko." Kitty then walked onto the stage as well. Emma had offered to sit this one out so that her sister could take a turn battling.
"What?" Someone asked.
"What a curious thing!" Someone else marveled. "Hah, that's just typical of it!"
"As long as we both have a good time, then I think we can call it a great battle, eh?" Hau said.
You said it!" Kitty declared as she raised her fist in the air.
"Kitty! Hau! Bring forth the power of your Pokémon!" Hala ordered.
"Go Popplio!" Kitty called out as she tossed her Pokéball.
"Take them down Pichu!" Hau said as he tossed out his own Pokéball.
"You liar!" Kitty snapped. "You said only Emma had a second Pokémon!"
"Sorry Kitty, but I'm winning this!" Hau declared.
"Well, I'm sorry for you, but there is no way you are winning!" Kitty declared. "Popplio! Use Pound!" Popplio slammed into Pichu, which knocked it out instantly.
"Alright, I guess Pichu isn't that strong yet!" Hau admitted. "But Rowlet has a type advantage!"
"I think that we already proved those don't always matter!" Kitty declared, thinking back to her battle with her sister.
"Rowlet! Use Leafage!" Hau called out.
"Popplio! Dodge the attack!" Kitty called out. Popplio failed to dodge, but remained standing. "Okay! You're gonna have to hang in there! Use Pound!" Popplio was able to land the hit, sending Rowlet reeling back. Then, she attacked again, knocking Rowlet out.
"What? It's already over?!" Hau exclaimed as he nervously scratched his head. The crowd began to cheer.
"Hoo-ee! Another great battle this year!" Hala declared. "I bet Tapu Koko liked it too."
"Phew...that was awesome, Kitty!" Hau cheered. "That was a really great battle! I had a blast fighting you!"
"I know, right?!" Kitty exclaimed. "I had so much fun!"
"It was a good battle," Hala agreed. "With this, even Tapu Koko-"
"Ko-ko-kooo!" Everyone looked towards the sky. That was clearly the Tapu!
"Ho! You heard it yourself! Tapu Koko's song of approval!" Hala declared before turning to face Kitty. "Oh, I nearly forgot! I think it's time that you and Emma take these." He then handed both girls a bracelet with the stones they found on them embedded in the bracelet.
"Wait...these are Z-Rings!" Emma realized as she slipped her on.
"Well done, Emma!" Hala noted. "Those are indeed Z-Rings, mysterious armbands that can draw out the power that lies deep within Pokémon...it can bring forth their Z-Power! We kahuna can make them by refining the stones like the Sparkling Stone that you received from Tapu Koko. Although until you both collect more Z-Crystals during your island challenge, you will not be able to draw out the Z-Power of your Pokémon. And yet you have already received that Sparkling Stone…"
"Sir?" Emma asked, confused as to why he paused.
"It seems that Tapu Koko took quite a liking to you two...or perhaps it has a mission for you." Hala explained.
"In other words, it's time for you two to get out there and start your island challenge!" Kukui declared. "If you two explore every island, top to bottom, maybe you'll figure out what that mission is."
"Sounds great, right?" Hau asked. "I can't wait to have a real adventure!"
"I know right?!" Emma exclaimed. While the sisters had been to the other islands in the past, they weren't allowed to go far, mostly because they were on business trips with their parents.
"Now, why don't we head home so that everyone is rested for tomorrow?" Kukui offered. Everyone nodded.
"Tapu Koko is amazing, isn't it?" Lillie asked Emma as they started to walk home. Emma nodded, giving Lillie the signal to continue. "I hope I can meet it again someday and thank it for saving Nebby…"
"Pew!"
"Hey, if this week has taught me anything, it's that anything is possible. I never thought I would so much as see Tapu Koko, let alone be saved by it!" Emma said. "I wonder if it really does want me and Kitty to go on a mission together…"
"Oh, hey, girls!" Kukui exclaimed when they got back to the lab/house. "Mind if I see your Pokédexes for a second, yeah?"
"No problem dad!" Kitty declared as she and Emma handed their Pokédexes over.
"What do you need them for?" Emma asked.
"Simple, it finally arrived!" Kukui declared as he fiddled with the machines. "So, now, you both have a Rotom-Dex!"
"Really!?" Emma exclaimed. It had been a dream of hers to study a Rotom-Dex and now she got to travel with one?! Yes, best day ever!
"Zrrrrrtttt! Nice to meet you, Emma!" Rotom said through the dex. Emma had to fight to keep herself from squeeing.
"See? Now Rotom can talk right to you!" Kukui said with a laugh. "From what I can tell, it looks like your Rotoms have taken a liking to you!"
"I can't wait to start my Island Challenge!" Kitty declared. She then yawned. "But first, I need to sleep."
"Agreed, I'm wiped," Emma said as she went to get ready for bed.
Lillie nervously peaked through the door to the sisters' room. They were fast asleep. Litten was sleeping at the foot of Emma's bed, with Grubbin sleeping on her nightstand. Kitty was cuddling with Popplio. She couldn't stop herself from smiling. She wondered if she and her family had ever been like that. With a frown, she walked off.
Sorry, Lillie, but you still have a long way before I let you make nice with your family. But next time, I will be skipping past all the unimportant filler in the games (THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN OPTIONAL! I KNOW HOW TO GET TO A POKÉ CENTER!) to begin our first trial! I'll see you all then!
