"My mind was like a blank slate ready to be filled."
Chapter 5
I researched everything I could about Peter Parker. Basically anything I could. I wasn't going into this without some background info. There wasn't much but this girl MJ it was obvious he had a crush on her. You could see it form the subtle red on his cheeks when they were in a photo together. She didn't really seem like his type though. He was so upbeat and she was just so… I had a hard time picturing them together.
I arrived at Midtown on Monday. It was my first time in high school. For a place that was supposed to be for the the exceptional gifted it didn't seem like anyone was really that smart. I got my schedule from the office. The receptionist didn't even look at me; she just slid it over. Her eyes looked dull and her skin was pale. It was as if some had sucked the soul out of her body.
I walked down the hall trying to analyse my surroundings. It was best to know where the exits were in case something didn't work out. My hair swayed back and forth with each step. The guys were fawning over me. Someone given whistled. I gave him a wink back. I looked up and saw 303 above the door frame. Chemistry my first class of the day. I walked in the room and saw Peter with Ned. It was quite strange. I knew their names but they hadn't even met me yet.
"Everyone please take your seat with a partner," the teacher shouted from the back of the room.
Peter sat in the back. I walked up to his table and slid onto the seat next to him before Ned could.
"Do you mind if I sit here?"
Ned made eye contact with Peter as if to say what the hell man. Peter looked back with a grin on his face.
"Not at all," he exclaimed a little louder than normal ensuring that Ned would hear.
Ned let an eye roll out at that statement.
"So are you new to the area," Peter asked?
"Ya my family moved here from Minnesota."
Really Minnesota that was the best thing I could come up with.
"So you work at Star Industries."
He looked at me confused. Shit, did that just slip out of my mouth.
"Your pin," I said pointing to his shirt.
A quick save if I do say so myself. He looked down and touched the bright metal.
"You have quite the eye don't you."
"I would like to think so. You can't see the beauty of the big picture without the details in between," I responded with a smile.
He looked up from the beaker giving me a grin. He tried moving his hand to mine when he knocked the glass over on the table spilling it's content.
"Shit," he let out.
He scrambled to his feet running to wash the chemical off his hands. When he came back I had already taken care of the mess.
"Hey you wouldn't want to hang out sometime."
"Meet me on Maple crossing to Chestnut at three o'clock Tomorrow. It's a date."
I stood up and walked out the room. I raced down the hall taking a left turn leading to the exit. That was the only class I had with Peter there was no need to stick around any longer.
Authors note
Got a bit of writers block writing this. Sorry for it being so short. I have some ideas for the next chapter though. I will most likely post the next chapter tomorrow or after. The date will be in chapter 7.
