Volume I: The Daily Bugle

Note: This will be the fifth chapter of Volume I, it will explore the aftermath of Spider-Man's first appearance, and Peter Parker's first time working for the Daily Bugle, this will be J Jonah Jameson's first appearance. This will feature Lonnie Lincoln as the villain of this chapter.

"It has been two weeks since a team of mercenaries stormed Midtown High and took a number of hostages. All would have been lost if not for the intervention of Spider-Man who's bravery saved a lot of lives. Since his first appearance that night, he's been swinging around New York stopping crime and saving lives. But the real question remains, who is Spider-Man?"

"Who is Spider-Man? He's a criminal, that's who he is! A vigilante, a public menace!" Jameson said with a cigar in his mouth.

Jameson is the Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Bugle, a newspaper tabloid, he's in his office with Robbie Robertson, high ranking editor and Jameson's right hand man. His office has a picture of him and his deceased wife Joan, another picture of his son John who is an Air Force Colonel and an astronaut.

"Apparently not to everyone, what he did that day saved a lot of lives, he's a hero." Robbie defends Spider-Man's actions.

"Then why does he wear a mask? Hm? What does he have to hide?" Jameson says to Robbie.

"Doesn't his action in saving a school move you? Why are you against him doing something good?" Robbie says to Jameson.

"I'm glad that no one died that day, I really do. But he's not the police or a fireman, what right does he have to intervene? Right now he doesn't operate within the law, he's breaking it. Today it's just one person, tomorrow it's gonna be another person. He's setting a bad example for the people of New York, I'm gonna show him that no one is above the law. He's the headline, 'Spider-Man: Hero or Menace?', and run a decent picture with it, put it on the front page." Jameson orders Robbie.

"But the problem is we don't have a decent picture of him, he's been swinging around for weeks, we can barely get a glimpse of him." Robbie explains to Jameson.

"Oh! What is he? Shy? Then let's make things interesting, put it on the front page, 'Cash money for a picture of Spider-Man'." Jameson stands up and looks out the window with his cigar. "He doesn't want to be famous? Then I'll make him infamous!"

Jameson orders for a decent picture of Spider-Man to anyone who can get it in exchange for money.

At Midtown High, school went back to normal after that incident two weeks ago. They hired more resource officers and tighten security more than ever.

It's lunchtime as Betty Brant shows off her story titled 'Spider-Man: The Hero of Midtown', everyone clapped and loved her story on Spider-Man, especially Peter who red her articles and told great things about his heroic deeds. He sits with Gwen, Mary Jane, and Harry in the lunchroom.

"Not bad Brant, your story on Spider-Man is amazing!" Flash smiles and claps.

"Thank you everyone, it's good to know that our school is made famous by Spider-Man. If it wasn't for him, none of us would be standing here." Betty says to Flash.

"That guy is a hero, his actions became national news, possibly even global. He should be recognized by everyone." Flash says to everyone.

"Sounds like this Spider guy has a huge fan." Kong says to Flash.

"I can't help but admired the guy, he made a big difference in our lives." Flash smiled as he told about Spider-Man.

Peter is surprised to hear that the guy who bullies him since middle school became a fan of his, meaning Spider-Man. Peter drank up a can of soda as Flash and Betty walks up to the table and sees Gwen.

"So tell us Gwen?" Betty asks Gwen a question.

"What is it?" Gwen says to Betty.

"When you drowned in water, Spider-Man did CPR and had his lips on you, didn't he?" Betty is curious about that question.

Peter coughed as he heard that question and blushed a bit, everyone sees Peter coughing.

"Are you okay Pete?" Harry is worried.

Peter coughed. "Yeah, must've gotten some soda in my voice box, sorry about that."

"Here Tiger, have some water?" Mary Jane hands her water bottle.

Peter drank it as he's feeling a bit better, though it's not the drink that made him cough.

"Are you alright?" Gwen asks Peter.

"Yeah, I'm fine, thank you." Peter replied to Gwen.

"So is it true that you felt his lips that day?" Betty smiled in curiosity.

"Well... I was out of it since I couldn't breathe, but I think I did." Gwen blushed a bit.

"Wow, you having your lips on a hero, you're quite the lucky girl Gwen." Betty smiled in envy.

Mary Jane looked at Peter as he felt a bit blushed, she smiled at him as he had his lips on Gwen Stacy.

"By the way, are there any leads as to who is behind this attack? They came after you and didn't care about threatening our lives." Flash wonders about the attack.

"No, but my dad is investigating this matter. I'm sure that they'll find out who the mastermind of this incident. My father isn't gonna let this go." Gwen says to everyone.

Peter wonders the same thing, someone came after a friend of his and nearly killed her. He wants to find this person and sees to it that he faces justice for he had done.

At the 13th precinct, George Stacy is in the interrogation room with Montana handcuffed to the table. He holds up a tablet and looks at Montana's file.

"Jackson Brice, AKA Montana, you're in quite a pickle here." George Stacy explains.

"You keep coming in here these past weeks and told me the same thing, as I said I don't know anything." Montana says to George.

"Well let's look over what you're facing, attacking a school, extortion, and the attempted murder of a minor who happens to be my daughter, you're looking at hard time in prison." George sits down opposite of Montana. "I know that you and your boys are just the muscle, I want the brain of this operation, give me a name or names of your accomplices and maybe we can make a deal for a lighter sentence."

"Look Captain, I don't know anything except that I have the right to remain silent, so I don't have to tell you shit." Montana smiled without remorse.

George stands up and looks him in the eye. "Then you're gonna go down for this."

"Then book me and stop wasting my time! This conversation is over." Montana finished what he had to say.

George got up and walked out, Yuri is outside waiting for him.

"Still nothing, this guy is not afraid of the police." Yuri says to George.

"No... but clearly he's afraid of someone more than us. Whoever is behind this whole incident is still out there, someone who has no morals, no remorse, who doesn't care about destroying lives. I promise on behalf of my daughter that I will find him and he'll face justice." George swears to get the mastermind.

At the Parker Residence, May is still on the phone with Anna Watson as she sort through the bills she's gotta pay.

"I'm having problems Anna, I've been working double shifts at the hospital and I'm still a little short on money." May says over the phone.

"If you're looking for a loan then you gotta ask but it's not much." Anna offers her help.

"Thanks but I wasn't going to ask. I was wondering if you know another job I could take that pays more." May asks Anna about another job.

"I don't know any jobs that are available at this time, I know that the loss of Ben also affected your financial situation." Anna says to May.

Peter came home as May heard the door and hides the bills under the basket.

"I gotta go, I don't want Peter to know. Bye." May hangs up the phone.

"Hey May, was that Anna Watson?" Peter walks in.

"Yeah... we were just chatting. How was school?" May ask about school while hiding the truth.

"It's been fine, some are still shaking, but others are getting through it." Peter explained.

"That's good to know, I got worried when I first saw the news. I was thinking that you were in danger. But I'm glad that no one got hurt." May yawning out.

"Are you okay? You seemed tired out." Peter is worried for May.

"Yeah... just too much work. Everything is fine." May pretends that nothing is wrong.

"Why not get some rest? Don't overdo yourself." Peter suggested to May.

"Okay... I'll take a short nap." May walked out of the kitchen.

Peter watched as he's worried for Aunt May, she been too busy with work these days. He looked at the table and see something under the basket, he pulled it out and sees bills that are to be paid soon.

"No wonder that she's been busy, she doesn't want me to worry. I've been too busy as Spider-Man not knowing what's happening at home. She's been working to the bone to keep this place alive. She shouldn't have to deal with all this alone. Maybe it's time that I help out for a change, but how?" Peter said in his thoughts.

Peter is thinking on how to help May with her financial problems since Ben's death. She's always been there to help and support him, this time he will help her out.

At Fisk Tower, Kingpin and his assistant James Wesley are in a video conference with the other crime lords to discuss a critical blow to their organization since Spider-Man saved Gwen Stacy and stopped the Enforcers, crippling their plans.

"This is bad Fisk, this spider person has dealt a critical blow to our organization." Silvermane says on the screen.

"This was only a setback." Kingpin assured them.

"No, losing the millions in weapons is a setback, this whole thing was a catastrophe! Not only did we loss the millions of dollars paying back the Symkarians, we also lost millions in brides to cover up your mess!" Owlsley said not too happy.

"If I didn't know better, I'd say that you're losing control." Lonnie Lincoln says it to the Kingpin.

Kingpin slammed his fist on the desk in anger, making the crime lords flinch.

"I never loss control... and I never lose." Kingpin said clinching his teeth in anger.

"This Spider-Man is causing problems for all of us. Some of the crime activities he took down is connected to our own, we're losing a lot of money every minute he's still out." Silvermane says on the screen.

"Then we're in agreement, the priority rights now is to find Spider-Man." Kingpin says to them.

"What do we do when we find him?" Owlsley wonders.

"Terminate with extreme prejudice." Kingpin smiles to them.

The Kingpin and the crime lords are smiling as they plan to take Spider-Man off the board permanently.

It's nighttime at the Watson Residence, Peter and Mary Jane are in her room watching a TV show staring teen star Patsy Walker. Mary Jane is watching as Peter is distracted by May's financial troubles.

Patsy is walking down the streets as two creepy guys follow her, she stopped and turned around.

"You guys don't want to do this!" Patsy says to them.

One of the guys came at her but she kicked him in the face, he fell down, the other one tries to punch her but she dodge his attack and kicked him in the balls. She looked down on the guys that attacked her.

"Told you!" Patsy says to them.

"Wow, that Patsy Walker is quite the Hellcat, wouldn't you say?" Mary Jane says to Peter.

"Hmm!" Peter looked at the phone.

"Peter, did you hear what I said?" Mary Jane looked at Peter still distracted.

"Hmm!" Peter is still distracted.

"I'm gonna undress here... and get naked." Mary Jane makes a joke, tries to get his attention.

"Huh? I'm sorry, what?" Peter snapped back to reality.

"Are you okay? You look like your mind is elsewhere." Mary Jane wonders what's going through Peter's mind.

"Sorry MJ, it's just... I'm worried about Aunt May." Peter tells her.

"What about her? What's going on?" Mary Jane is worried.

"I think that she's been having money problems." Peter confided in her.

"I didn't know that." Mary Jane looked at Peter.

"Neither did I, I've been too busy being Spider-Man that I didn't consider what she's going through. Uncle Ben usually provided for us, but since his death last month, she's been dipping into the savings, she's used up what's left to pay bills and food." Peter explains their financial situation.

"I'm sorry Tiger. What are you going to do?" Mary Jane asks Peter.

"I think that it's time for me to branch out and get a job." Peter says his plan.

"As what exactly?" Mary Jane wonders what he'll do.

"I don't know yet. It's too bad that used up the prize money to buy materials to build the suit, it would've helped her out, and I can't go back to the wrestling gig since the cat is out of the bag. I need to find something that I can do to make money." Peter tries to figure out.

Peter then sees a newspaper from the Daily Bugle, it show reward money for a picture of Spider-Man.

"Can I see that?" Peter points to the papers.

"Sure." Mary Jane allowed him.

Peter picked it up and reads the title 'Cash money for a picture of Spider-Man'.

"This is it, this could be the answer to my prayers." Peter shows the papers.

"You want to take photos of yourself?" Mary Jane say to Peter.

"Think about it, I can still do my activities as Spider-Man and as Peter Parker, this is perfect." Peter says to Mary Jane.

"So how exactly are you going to take pictures of yourself fighting crime and saving lives?" Mary Jane is confused.

"Let me worry about that." Peter smile at her, she smiled back.

At a bar in the Bronx, Robbie Robertson is sitting down waiting and drinking at an empty table alone.

He sees his source is here.

"You're late." Robbie wonders about the delay.

"Sorry... had to be discreet."

"Better discreet than dead, do you have the information I asked for?" Robbie ask his source.

"Do you have the money?"

Robbie pulls out an envelope full of money, the source has a thumb drive in his hands. They exchanged one another, Robbie got the drive and the source got paid.

"It's risky what you're doing, selling out information for cash." Robbie is worried.

"I couldn't help, I was strapped for cash."

"I told you to stay away from the casinos, you tend to lose more than you can win." Robbie gives his advice.

"I'm touched that you're so concerned about my life."

"Just don't gamble a lot and you'll be fine." Robbie got up and left.

The source waited to leave as to not attract attention, unknown to him someone was eyeballing them and go suspicious about what they talked about. This man pulled out his phone and calls someone.

Meanwhile in the city as armed men are robbing the jewelry store full of diamonds and gems. They hold up the store with guns as two of them are breaking the cases and looting the jewels.

"Hurry up, we don't have much time!"

Spider-Man is nearby and hides as he sees the place being robbed.

"Perfect timing, now to place the camera here and set it for auto." Spider-Man webs the camera in the sight of the store.

"Ahem!" Spider-Man shows himself.

The burglars stopped as they see Spider-Man here in the flesh.

"You know, if you want those jewels so badly, you could buy them instead of stealing them. I know that diamonds are for the ladies but there are others way to impress them." Spider-Man jokes around.

"It's him! It's Spider-Man!"

"Spider-Man? Where? Oh, I get so nervous when I meet someone famous! I don't know what to say?" Spider-Man talking about himself.

"You can say Goodnight!"

The five burglars aims their guns at him.

"Oh! I forgot, you guys have guns! What do I have?" Spider-Man jokes as he webs up the guns.

"What the hell is this?!"

Spider-Man yanks them off their hands as they're unarmed.

"You know, this doesn't have to get violent. Why not just surrender and turn yourselves in. What do you say?" Spider-Man mocks them.

"I'll pass!"

One of the robbers came in running and throws the first punch but Spider-Man caught his fist, he push kicked him back.

"Seriously, this doesn't have to be violent." Spider-Man says to them.

"Too late Bug Boy!"

Two more came charging in as Spider-Man runs up and does the scissor kick, taking two out. The camera hanging nearby is taking shots of the fight.

"Anyone want to try?" Spider-Man ask the robbers.

One of the last two pulled out a knife as he charges in swinging his blade, Spider-Man does the flash kick and the guys falls down out cold.

Spider-Man sees the last robber standing as he's all alone, he tries to make the run for it hit Spider-Man shot a line at his legs, the guy fell down. Spider-Man pulls him in and punched him out.

Sometime later after the merchandise was returned and the fight ended, the robbers are hanging upside down in webbing as Spider-Man finished his work.

He left as the police sirens came closer, he picked up his camera on the way.

He continues to swing back home after the fight with the camera that contains photos of the fight.

"Perfect, I took down the robbers and got the photos. All in a night's work, great job Spidey." Spider-Man continues to swing.

He completed his patrol as a hero and gotten photos as a photographer at the same time.

Sometime around midnight at the Bronx, Robbie's source walked out of the bar after having his drink and playing pool. He continues to walk alone in the streets until a car pulled up to him and two guys came out.

"What are you? Don't hurt me!"

"Relax, Mr. Lincoln wants to have a word with you. So shut up and get in!"

They took the man inside the car and drove away.

It's morning time on a Saturday in Queens as Peter is still at home working on his next project, building new devices for his crusade as Spider-Man. He finished the last touch on it and completed it.

"There... my latest invention, the spider tracer. Thanks to the update I've made to my phone, I can track this little critter wherever he is." Peter holds up the spider tracer.

Peter puts down the tracer and picked up his camera, he pulled his memory card off and puts it into the computer as he sees the images that he took of last night's robbery.

"Wow, these are great shots. Hopefully these will get me paid well. May needs the money, oh speaking of which." Peter got up.

Peter walked down the stairs and found May sleeping on the couch from last nights shift at the hospital working as a nurse. Peter walked towards her and cover her with a blanket.

"Rest easy Aunt May, you don't have to do everything alone. It's time for me to help you out." Peter kissed May on the forehead as she sleeps.

Peter then returned back to his room to check on the photos. He then types and prints out some copies for the Daily Bugle.

In a hideout in the Bronx, the man that got captured by criminals is being beaten by them.

"Stop."

They ignored his plea to stop the pain as they punched him again.

"Stop! That's enough for now." Lonnie Lincoln ordered them.

They stop the beating as a man in a expensive suit is walking towards the beaten man.

"Lonnie?"

"I'm glad that you know who I am, because I was getting worried that you didn't. Now, a little birdie told me that you were talking with someone, what was it about?" Lonnie Lincoln looked at the guy.

"Nothing, we were just chatting, old friends and all that."

Lonnie hold the envelope full of money. "Wow, didn't know that you got lucky, did he gave you that?"

"Look Mr. Lincoln, it's nothing really."

"Okay then, we have nothing else to say, Boys, get rid of him." Lonnie Lincoln orders his men.

"Okay! Okay! I'll talk!"

"Wait! Something you want to say?" Lonnie Lincoln looks down on him.

"He... he just wanted to know about you and your drug operations for a story."

"So you sold me out for money?" Lonnie Lincoln not looking too happy.

"I was broke and I needed the money, I'm sorry Mr. Lincoln, please don't kill me!"

"The name of this reporter, tell me now or you won't be talking anymore." Lonnie Lincoln demands a name.

"It's... Robertson."

"Robbie Robertson?" Lonnie Lincoln says the name.

"Yeah, that's him... so we good?"

"Yeah... we're good... at least I am." Lonnie Lincoln gave his guys the look.

Lonnie stepped back as he watches his guys finish the guy off.

"No... no... no!!!"

Lonnie watched as the source is getting killed by his men and shows no guilt or remorse.

Spider-Man swings through New York City as the people are watching the hero pass them by in the air.

He sees the Daily Bugle in sight as he swings down an alley nearby and started to change into his clothes that he brought into his backpack.

He finished changing as he steps out of the alley and walks up to the Daily Bugle building.

He enters inside the lobby and looks around.

"So this is where I'm gonna be working at? Well, at least the good news is that no one here knows who I am" Peter to himself.

"Peter? Peter Parker?" Betty's voice from behind.

Peter turns around and sees Betty Brant from school.

"Betty? What are you doing here?" Peter is confused.

"I intern here, what are you doing here?" Betty asks Peter.

"Oh, I'm here about that reward money for pictures of Spider-Man." Peter tells hers.

"In that case, you want to go to Jameson's office and give them the man himself. I'm heading up that way if want to tag along?" Betty says to Peter.

"Sure, shall we?" Peter joins Betty.

Peter and Betty enters the elevator as they go up the floor, they're both alone.

"So how long have you been interning here?" Peter ask Betty.

"Since last year, career day, I saw the booth of the Daily Bugle and Mr. Robertson recognized my talents in journalism, since then he took me under his wing and I learned a lot from him." Betty tells about her internship.

"I'm guessing that he's even more impressed with the story you wrote of Spider-Man?" Peter tells Betty.

"He was, too bad that Jameson doesn't see it that way. Now let's see the photos you took, may I?" Betty ask for the photos.

Peter hands the folder as Betty sees the shots of Spider-Man fighting off the robbers from last night, very decent.

"What do you think?" Peter ask for her opinion.

"This is not bad, I know that photography is your hobby but this is actually decent work. No doubt that you'll get paid for these." Betty is impressed by the pictures.

(At Jameson's office)

Jameson and Robbie are alone in the office looking at the thumb drive that Robbie got from his source last night, photos of Lonnie Lincoln's drug operations and distribution.

"Looks like we finally have the evidence to lock up Lonnie Lincoln for a long time." Jameson says to Robbie.

"Even after all these years, Lonnie still hasn't changed, selling poisons to the people of New York, some of them were teenagers who OD'ed on his stuff." Robbie knows Lonnie too well.

"The public deserves to know the criminal he really is, run the story." Jameson tells Robbie.

Robbie walks out of the office as Betty and Peter enters to see Jameson.

"Mr. Jameson, someone is here to see you about a job." Betty tells Jameson.

Jameson sees a teenager he's never seen before.

"If he wants to work, then tell him to bring coffee and the job is his." Jameson tells Betty.

"What? No, I'm not here about that, I'm here because of the reward for pictures of Spider-Man." Peter corrects him.

"You? A high school student? That's ridiculous." Jameson smiled in humor.

"Look at them yourself and see if you like." Peter hands a folder.

Jameson opened the folder and sees pictures of Spider-Man fighting off robbers at the jewelry store last night.

"Looks pretty convincing, but how do I know that none of this is photoshopped." Jameson thinks their fake.

"They're not, they're authentic, no tampering, I promise." Peter assured they're real.

Jameson pressed the buzzer. "Robbie, come back here."

Robbie returned to the office to see his intern Betty Brant and Peter Parker.

"Take these to the photographic department to verify its authenticity." Jameson hands the photos.

"Right away." Robbie took the photos.

Robbie walked out of the office with the photos.

"Seriously? Are you not gonna take my word for it?" Peter says to Jameson.

"Sorry kid, but it's safe than sorry, I can't put in altered photos in the papers." Jameson stated to Peter.

"Fine, I can wait." Peter sits down.

"Let's be clear on one thing, if I find out that your work is fake, then not only are you not getting paid, I'll see to it that you're blacklisted from any photography work for life." Jameson threaten to blacklist Peter.

Robbie came back into the room with the photos. "They're clean Jonah."

"What?" Jameson is confused.

"The experts examined the photos, no tampering, they're clean." Robbie confirms they're real.

"Very well, let me see them." Jameson wants to see.

Robbie hands the photos back to Jameson as he look through them and sees Spider-Man fighting off the bad guys in a jewelry store. Peter waits to see if he liked them and buy them.

"They're Crap! Crap, crap, mega crap!" Jameson says as he sees. "I'll give you a 150 bucks for them."

"That seems pretty low?" Peter isn't satisfied with the price.

"Take it somewhere else then." Jameson hands the photos back as Peter gets up.

"JJ, we need a photo of Spider-Man for the headline." Robbie intervened.

"Right! Sit back down!" Jameson orders Peter. "Give me that."

Peter sat back down and hands the photos back to Jameson.

Jameson took the photos and sighed. "I'll give you 300, that's the standard freelance fee."

"Done." Peter accepts the price.

"Robbie, take that and put it on page one." Jameson hands the photo to Robbie.

"Headline?" Robbie ask about a headline.

"Spider-Man: Hero or Menace? Exclusive Daily Bugle photo." Jameson says it.

"Menace? But he just stopped a robbery." Peter defends Spider-Man's actions.

"Tell you want kiddo, you take the pictures and I'll make up the headlines. Alright, is that okay with you?" Jameson says to Peter.

"Yes sir." Peter replied.

"Goody." Jameson writes up a check and hands it to Peter. "Here you go, you just got paid."

"I'd like a job too, sir." Peter wants to work.

"No jobs, stick to freelance since you're in high school. But you bring me more shots of the bug and I'll buy them off your hands, but I never said you have a job. That's the best I can do, now get out and bring me more photos." Jameson is willing to buy more photos from him.

Peter walked out of the office as he got paid with a check. Peter sees Betty waiting outside.

"So how did it go?" Betty wonders.

"It went well, got paid 300 bucks for the photos though he doesn't seemed too pleased with Spider-Man saving a store, he called him a menace." Peter tells it to Betty.

"I know that Jameson can be tough to everyone, he's not such a bad guy, trust me on that." Betty assured Peter.

"Well, if you say so, at least he's willing to buy more photos from me, that must be a good sign." Peter says to Betty.

"Come on, let's take a break outside. There's a vendor outside that makes the best hot dogs." Betty invite Peter outside for lunch.

"Sure, let's go." Peter agreed to her proposal.

Peter and Betty left the floor and took the elevator.

Back at the hideout in the Bronx, two men wrapped a body in plastic as the man is already dead.

"Take him somewhere where no one will find him." Lonnie Lincoln orders his men.

Lonnie uses his burner phone to make a phone call as his men are carrying out the body.

"Fisk, we got a problem. One of my men ratted on me, there's no telling what he told this reporter." Lonnie Lincoln says over the phone.

"I do not tolerate loose ends Mr. Lincoln. This couldn't come at a bad time, the police are still looking into the school attack and I've paid a fortune to cover it up. Find this reporter and find out what he knows or it'll be on your head, is that clear?" Kingpin orders Lonnie.

"Yes Kingpin, I hear you." Lonnie hangs up the phone.

A couple of Lonnie's men came to him.

"Find Robbie Robertson and bring him to me alive, he works at the Daily Bugle, so start there." Lonnie orders them to bring Robbie.

Later both Peter and Betty are enjoying the hot dogs outside the Daily Bugle, Peter took a bite out of it and taste it.

"How is it?" Betty holding her hot dog.

"Mmm! Delicious! I could get use to this." Peter smiled as he enjoyed the hot dog.

"I assume that you and I will be seeing each other more often?" Betty smiled at Peter.

"Yeah, even though I'm still freelancing. Listen I gotta get going, I need to cash in this check and help May out with bills. See you tomorrow or at school?" Peter wants to leave.

"Sure, take care." Betty waved goodbye.

"You too!" Peter walks away.

Peter walks away as he needs to cash in the check to help May. Betty sees Robbie Robertson walking out as she walks to him.

Peter continues to walk until his spider sense is tingling, trouble is nearby. He looks around until he sees an SUV pull up and masked men with gun grabbing Robbie and Betty.

"Let go of me! Help!" Betty screamed out for help.

Betty and Robbie are pushed into the SUV and it drives away, Peter then runs to it as he ran as fast as he can through the crowd. He still sees the SUV in sight but since he's on foot and in a crowd, it's difficult to catch up. Peter got as close as he can and pulled out his new spider tracer, he activated it and tossed it to the SUV, it sticked to it.

"Got it." Peter said in his thoughts.

Peter watched as the SUV is driving away in high speed. He couldn't believe that Betty and Robbie have been kidnapped, but why them.

(Sometime later)

The police are parked outside the Daily Bugle as Captain Stacy and Lieutenant Watanabe are questioning the witnesses and staff, Peter is among them.

"Did you see their faces?" Yuri asking questions to Peter.

"No, they had masks. They just came out and took them, just like that." Peter described the incident.

"What about the vehicle?" Yuri ask about the vehicle.

"It's was a black SVU, didn't have any plates, that I'm sure of." Peter answered the question.

"Okay, that'll be all. Thank you Mr. Parker." Yuri finished questioning.

Yuri walked to the office and sees Captain Stacy and Jameson speaking.

"You have any idea why someone would kidnap a member of your staff?" George questions Jameson.

"My god... I think this was Lonnie Lincoln." Jameson is shocked.

"The Bronx drug dealer? What does he have to do with this?" George Stacy wonders why.

"Robbie was about to write a story on Lonnie Lincoln and his drug operations, he even has proof of everything." Jameson explained to George Stacy.

"Do you still have that evidence?" George Stacy asks for the evidence.

"Yeah, hang on." Jameson picked up a thumb drive and hands it to George. "Here, save Robbie and take down that son of a bitch."

"We will, we're getting a warrant to raid the place." George Stacy picks up the phone and calls the DA.

Peter is listening nearby but he knows that Robbie and Betty don't have time for a warrant.

"They can't save them in time, but Spider-Man can." Peter says in his thoughts."

Peter then walks away as he found a empty place to change. He changes into his suit and pulled out his phone that is programmed to track the spider tracer.

"If I'm reading this right, it's pointing Northeast, towards the Bronx, his neighborhood. I hope that I'm not too late to save Betty and Robbie." Peter puts away the phone.

He found a window to jump out of and web swings to save Betty and Robbie from Lonnie Lincoln.

Robbie and Betty wakes up and finds themselves tied to a chair as they're surrounded by armed men with guns, they see some workers cooking up drugs to sale, they see a large vat of chemicals nearby.

"Mr. Robertson, where are we?" Betty still tied up.

"If I had to guess, this is a drug lab." Robbie looks around.

"Robbie Robertson, it's been so long, so many years has it been, I barely recognized you." Lonnie Lincoln came out and showed himself.

"Lonnie Lincoln, you haven't changed a bit, still in the drug game as always." Robbie says back to Lonnie.

"Mr. Robertson, you know this guy?" Betty is confused.

"Ah, me and Robbie here we're old friends in our youth. I see that he doesn't talk about me much anymore." Lonnie smiled.

"We're not friends anymore, you wanted to drag me into a life of crime when I was a kid, I refused. Good thing that I turned my around, you on the other hand Lonnie are still that same arrogant criminal you always been." Robbie says to Lonnie.

"I'm touched. But back to the matter at hand, you've been looking into my business and now you want to write a story on me. Since you're here, allow me to show you my operation here. It's amazing how you take certain chemicals to make something addictive, wouldn't you agree?" Lonnie shows off his operation.

"Like selling poisons to the people, where they ended up hospitalized or worse, dead." Robbie is not amused.

"I'm just giving them what they want, I'm providing a public service." Lonnie say to Robbie.

"Bullshit, you're only out for yourself, you don't care who gets hurt as long as you maintain your wealth and power." Robbie talks back.

"You always been a straight arrow, just like that Captain Stacy who gotten in the way of our business." Lonnie confessed his role.

"The attack on the school, that was you?" Betty is shocked to hear that.

"Me and my associates lost everything because of Captain Stacy, examples had to be made. Too bad that none of you are gonna live to tell about." Lonnie steps back as his men aims their guns at them. "Goodbye."

The window ceiling broke down as Spider-Man came in and webs some of the guns off their hands. Spider-Man lands in front of Betty and Robbie.

"Sorry to crash the party." Spider-Man stands before everyone.

"At last, you're the infamous Spider-Man that's been causing trouble for me and my associates." Lonnie Lincoln says to Spider-Man.

"That's me, though I don't about the infamous part." Spider-Man replied back.

"Just my luck, we all want you dead for disrupting our plans at the school." Lonnie confessed that he had a hand in that incident.

"You were a part of that? Who else is part of this? I want names." Spider-Man demands some names.

"I could tell you, but you'll be too dead to know. Men, kill him!" Lonnie orders his men.

Spider-Man jumped over the man that charged after him and webs him up. He then sidekicks the one of the left. Lonnie could see that Spider-Man is difficult to deal with by normal means, he slowly slips away.

Betty and Robbie are trying to get loose of the ropes as Betty is slipping her hand off slowly through the knots, she gotten her hand freed as she unties her other hand.

Spider-Man webs up a crate and spins it around till he tossed to a group of three thugs. He then sees some more thugs coming to him, he kicked a table hard at them and it took them down. Some of the chemicals on it flies up and lands in the vat mixing the chemicals, changing its properties and color.

Betty got Robbie loose as they see Lonnie Lincoln running up the stairs.

"Mr. Robertson, look!" Betty points to Lonnie.

"He's not getting away with this, not today." Robbie runs after him.

Betty is left behind as Spider-Man is still taking on a few guys left. Betty is amazed by how he fights, hardly a punch can land on him.

One of guys grabbed Betty from behind her arms.

"Let go of me!" Betty struggles to get free.

Spider-Man took down the group as he see Betty is in trouble. He webs up the man's eyes, making him blind, Betty stomped on his foot and gotten loose, Spider-Man runs up and does the psycho kick, took out the last guy.

"Thanks Spider-Man, you saved my life again." Betty smiled in relief.

"Just doing my job Miss." Spider-Man says to Betty.

Robbie ran up the catwalks as he sees Lonnie trying to make a run for it.

"Lonnie!" Robbie yelled.

Lonnie stopped and turns to see Robbie.

"No more running! It's time that you pay for your crimes!" Robbie says to Lonnie.

"Fine, I guess that it's just you and me then. Let's go!" Lonnie crunched his knuckles.

Robbie is about to fight off against Lonnie Lincoln, Robbie has some training during his time in the military. He tries to throw the first punch but Lonnie caught it, he punched Robbie with his other hand.

"You really thought that you can take me on. I was raised here in the Bronx, remember? I've lived through hell." Lonnie shows off his superiority.

Lonnie was about to strike until Robbie found enough strength to fight back and charged at Lonnie, they tipped off the rails and nearly fall off as Robbie grabbed the rails, Lonnie grabbed hold of Robbie's leg as he look down on the chemicals in the vat.

Spider-Man swings up to the catwalks and runs up to help Robbie.

"Robbie Robertson, grab my hand." Spider-Man offered his hand to Robbie.

Robbie tires to reach out with his other hand to Spider-Man's. Lonnie then sees the webslinger in his sights, he slowly pulled out a gun. Spider-Man grabbed Robbie's hand and grips it.

"I'm gonna pull you both up!" Spider-Man says to them.

Spider-Man's spider sense tingle as he sees Lonnie Lincoln with a gun in his hand.

"Goodbye Bug Boy." Lonnie smiles as he points his gun.

Robbie uses his other leg to kick the gun off of Lonnie's hand. Lonnie tries to move up until he lost his grip and fell down yelling. Spider-Man uses his loose hand to fire off a web at Lonnie but he was too late as Lonnie Lincoln dropped down into the vat.

Spider-Man and Robbie looked down as Lonnie Lincoln is gone, drowning in the hot chemical vat. Spider-Man pulled Robbie up as he's on the catwalks.

"Are you alright?" Spider-Man asks Robbie.

"I'm okay, thanks to you. You really are the hero." Robbie thanked Spider-Man.

"You don't have to thank me." Spider-Man says to Robbie.

"Yes, I do. Jonah was wrong about you, you're no menace, you're exactly the kind the hero this city needs." Robbie gave his compliment.

They then heard sirens coming in, meaning the police are coming.

"You should go, we'll stay behind and explain all this." Robbie tells Spider-Man to go.

Spider-Man webs up and swings away, Robbie andBetty are happy that Spider-Man came to their rescue.

George Stacy and Yuri Watanabe came in with police backup, they sees that both Robbie and Betty are safe and sound. They look around and sees thugs out cold and webbed up.

"Are you both okay?" George Stacy ask how they are.

"We're okay, thanks to Spider-Man." Robbie assured George Stacy.

"Spider-Man was here? What about Lonnie Lincoln?" George ask about Lonnie Lincoln.

"We got so much to talk about." Robbie wants to tell George everything about what happened and what they found out.

Peter is walking to his home, he enters the house and sees May waiting in the kitchen.

"Peter, thank god that you're alright? Where were you?" May looked worried.

"I was working." Peter pulled out the money and puts it on the table.

May sees about 300 dollars in cash.

"Where did you get this money?" May ask about the money.

"I found a job to take in my spare time, taking photos for the Daily Bugle. I want you to have this." Peter points to the money.

"Peter, I can't accept this, this is yours." May refused.

"May, you took care of me my entire life, you and Ben, now let me help you this time, you don't have to do everything alone. Please let me help you, take the money." Peter says to May.

"All this time I was supposed to take care of you, not the other way around. But I can see now that you've grown up too soon and taking responsibility for me. Okay... I accept." May accepts Peter's charity.

"I know that if it were Ben, he would've lend a hand to those who need it." Peter remembers Ben.

"Yeah, that sounds like Ben." May smiled as Peter brought up Ben.

"I miss him." Peter misses his uncle.

"Me too, everyday. I know that Ben would be proud of the man you've become, a responsible man." May smiled at Peter.

"Everything I am, is because of you and Ben." Peter smiled back at May.

Peter and May hugged each other as they only have each other to move on.

Later in the coroners office, the coroner and his assistant opens up the bag and sees a grayish-white man laying dead, it was the body of Lonnie Lincoln.

"What do we have here?"

"Male, about mid 50's, pulled out of a chemical vat, from what I could see exposure inside must've caused this change, too bad that he didn't survive."

"You know, it's getting late. Why don't we call this a night?"

"Yeah, you're right, let's finish this tomorrow."

The two men zipped up the body and exited the room leaving the body inside.

Later after the two left, a hand popped out of the bag, reaching out. Someone came out alive as he opened his albino red eyes.
