Summary: During the battle at the Valley of the end Naruto is sucked into a portal, created from the energies of the chidori and the rasengan, and sent to Earthland shortly after the events of Tenrou Island. How will Fairy Tail and the time spent waiting for the Tenrou team to return change?

AN: Hey guys, I hope you're all doing well. I hope that everyone is enjoying this story again. So heads up, I want to see some REVIEWS. I got plenty of the "hey you're not doing this right or I don't like this" reviews but I need some positivity. I am not asking for bullshit either, I want real honest stuff. What am I doing that you like and what would you like to see? I am having a rough time right now just like everyone else so you guys showing me love helps. Ok enough sappy shit, check it out.

CHAPTER 5: The Shadow of the Ghost

Naruto awoke to the rumbling of the building, and ran to the window to find that the Drake was indeed in town. Many of buildings he could see were destroyed and there was ice everywhere. Seeing the waste before him, Naruto knew his job had just started. He grabbed his gear and jumped through the window, leaving Kora who had woken up at the same time as he did, to get dressed and attempt to catch up on her own. As he ran, the only thing he could think of was how bad this was; people were hurt and killed, buildings destroyed and frozen, and at the center of it all, he came face to face with the culprit. Standing at a rousing 100 meters tall, likely weighing over 20 tons, Naruto made eye contact with the beast and was surprised.

"Soo another has come to parish at my hands. Lok dos mo rune. I sense your power child and the beast you hold within yourself. Kon do lik mesh la. We are to do battle, yes? Ckyn sig dut mef byer nax?"

After the beast spoke Naruto had no time to wonder what the weird language it used between sentences was, because a massive torrent of ice and frost flew towards him from the monsters mouth. Naruto used his sage chakra to jump above the blast and summoned his clones. "SHADOW CLONE JUTSU." Poofing into life 100 clones, summoned by the power of sage mode, and rushed the lizard before them. The 100 fists collided with the iron hard scales of the beast and evaporated on impact. "Oh fuck." Naruto barely had a moment to curse before having to dodge an onslaught of attacks from the over sized drake. Naruto dodged over and over trying everything he had learned from sage mode empowered taijutsu to ninjutsu and nothing worked. It was in this moment he realized how fast and resilient The Shadow of the Ghost was.

"FINE! YOU WANT TO DIE SO BAD, HERE! EAT THIS! GIANT RASENGAN BARRAGE!"

Naruto bombarded the creature with hundreds of clones, wielding the devastating power of a 70 foot rasengan. Yet the beast remained unharmed. This continued for hours until Naruto had expended all of his sage empowered chakra. "I guess that's it, I am gonna die.." As he dodged ice shard after ice shard he climbed the rubble and debris of the towns remains, coming face to face with the drake. The Shadow of the Ghost lurched towards him, knocking Naruto off balance and he fell backwards, but before he could fall the drake began to close his jaws quickly around Naruto. The last thing to catch his gaze was Kora, running to him and jumping into the mouth to save him. However she was too slow, a fishermans strength falling in their arms and not their legs. She reached for him just as the beast chomped his jaws around Naruto. His razor sharp and jagged fangs sinking into her torso. Everything from her waist up coming with him into the belly of the beast. Her bottom half falling limp to the ground. Naruto saw his loves life end before his world went dark…

Inside the beasts stomach, Naruto's lifeless body clings to his dead lovers head, but the boy she once knew was not there with her body. Inside Naruto's mind, in the sewer he hated, he only had one thought on his mind. REVENGE. His subconcious being hesitantly stepped towards the seal. He wanted nothing more than to unleash Kurama's demonic energy to avenge his sweet Kora. He wanted every bit of the dark rage he would bring.

"Naruto NO! You must not do this, it will kill you in your present state!"

Yet, Naruto was not listening. His hesitant steps bringing him within reach of the physical seal, as his trembling hands reached out and grabbed hold of it. Emotionless and cold, craving nothing but the blood of this beast to be on his hands. Suddenly Naruto's hands were gripped tightly. His hands held in place under a warm and familiar pressure. The hands belonged to the 2 people who brought him into the world he once knew, some 17 years ago. People he loved so much yet never knew. Minato Namikaze and his wife Kushina. Naruto's mother and father. Narutos confusion and love the only things outweighing his rage.

"Naruto, I know you're hurting, but you cannot lose sight of yourself. If you do this, you will lose more than just Kora." His mother coaxed him sweetly.

"My son, you can not release the Kyubi. No matter what has happened, you cannot end your life." His father scolded.

"Shut up! You decided this fate for me, you don't get to do it again. Besides… I'm not strong enough to do it on my own." Naruto snapped, trailing off defeatedly. "I have figured out everything up to this point and I knew you'd show up. I could feel your chakra in the seal. Now I'm going to absorb it to survive the Kyubi's release. I have to do this." Naruto turned his hands and spread his fingers. Intertwining them with each of his parents, squeezing tightly before shaking them off. Naruto's hands darted back to the seal, assimilating his parents leftover chakra into his own, and ripped it off.

"This is goodbye then Kit. I am going to force my power into your system. This will protect your body as you fully absorb it into your chakra, then you can break free. Thank you for showing me not all humans are hateful. You're on your own now, but you can do this. Dattebayo friend."

With those words, the Nine Tailed fox uprooted himself from inside of his unwilling but hospitable host. The split destroying his essence and forcing him out of existence. Kurama did this to save the very boy who was fated as the hero of another world, but came to fulfill that destiny here.

"AAAAAAAH!" Naruto's subconscious being screamed inside of his mind. Feeling as though he was going to burst at the seams. His physical body glowing orange and blue, almost levitating off the ground. He calmed his mind and began meditating as he had so many times before while growing his sage power. This time with Kurama's essence coursing through him. His mind swelling with strength and knowledge of exactly how to defeat the beast his body laid in. His very mind melding into the weapon he would use to do it.

Two weeks have passed since our hero was last seen. On the Island on Singrande, a monster can be found. A drake by the name of Shadow of the Ghost. It had not stopped terrorizing the country in the last two years. however, recently it has found that its stomach is rather unsettled. Not once has the beast ever changed its diet, livestock and humans, nothing else. The beast knew not what was happening until its stomach began to vibrate and pulse from within. An agonizing pain that he had never felt before, grew from deep within his belly. The beast screamed an unimaginable: "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH."

It was a blood curdling sound to be heard for miles, even as it echoed among the destruction of nearby towns. Blood spurted from the beasts gut as his scales fell and the skin beneath was being pierced from within. As his stomach gave way, a blonde, teenage boy could be seen emerging from the gaping hole. Naruto clawed his way out of the monster, his blonde hair stained with the dark, blue blood of the beast. More of the blood dripping from his clothes and running down the drakes abdomen.

Standing now at six feet, weighing 200 lb, Naruto's body had fed off his chakra and continued to grow. He was unsure of where the beast had carried him as he stood in the middle of a dark and dreary cave, light could be seen far off at the end of a tunnel, the air was musty and cold. He could only assume that thi was the dragons lair. He'd come back here not realizing he would come to day in the same place he slept. Naruto had beast to kill, as he took a step back from the beast that swallowed him whole, taking his kunai and forcing it through the chest cavity and into the heart of the monster.

"*GAH* Bested by a filthy brat that's been inside me for two years. What the dragons would say if they saw me like this. Col los mod cor hrum." The light faded from its eyes and the Shadow of the Ghost was no more. Naruto had done the impossible. Turning to see his late girlfriends necklace on the ground, covered in the beasts blood. Naruto avenged her life and she had not died in vain. He picked it up and slipped it over his head, remembering her and the good times they had. He then carved the four largest teeth from the drakes gums and headed toward the light, in search of the town.

Upon arrival in Papyrus, Naruto limped through the town as people gave him weird looks and stared. No doubt in shock, very confused and frightened by his appearance. Naruto drug himself to the mayors office, despite the secretary's protest. The mayor locked eyes with the blonde haired, blood stained boy, staring in fear and shock. The mayor shooed off the village council and his secretary, clearing the room as he looked over Naruto. "Based on the rather large teeth in your hand, I gather after all this time, you have succeeded in your venture young man?"

"Yes"

"How did you-"

"It swallowed me whole, and I used my magic to sustain myself until I could claw my way out."

"And the girl?"

"Dead."

"I am sorry to hear that... I will have your reward delivered to you at the Inn. Again, I am terribly sorry. If there is anything I can do pl-"

"No, that will be all." Naruto said each word with a dead look in his eyes, devoid of emotion in his voice. He walked to the room he was assigned at the Inn, and he dropped into the bathtub with the water at its hottest temperature. Naruto clutched Kora's necklace in his hand and cried like he hadn't done in a long time.

He cried until the water ran ice cold. Even still he couldn't bring himself to move so he rolled over in the tub and rested his head on the edge. Unsure what to do he stayed like this until the next day. When he was finally able to stand from the stagnant, cold water, he was sluggish and defeated. He collected his reward from the front desk, he was given $10 million jewel and free passage to the mainland, he wasn't paying attention, just rolling through the motions. He boarded a ship having been brought to the port by a magic buggy. After the sails fell, he just stood leaning on the edge and staring out into the distance. Naruto couldn't help it even though he barely knew her, but the time he got to spend with Kora was his favorite. She had been so kind and caring, giving him love and attention he had never known. Kora had shown Naruto feelings he didn't understand.

Naruto was thinking on his way to the mainland, wondering, what if he didn't go straight home? What if he decided to take it slow, get there in his own time? With this thought, he went to find one of the sailors to find out where the ship was headed. "Oi, old man! Where is this boat headed? "Pergrande." The man responded. Naruto blinked. That was perfect. If he walked and traveled at normal speed, he could go through Iceberg, and Seven. This travel would let him see the rest of this continent and he would make it home before this year ended.

-Era X790-

The magic council gathered in front of the young sage who had been gone for quite some time an a quest that they believed impossible. The boy was recounting the details of the journey and the battle. Naruto saw it unnecessary to tell them about Kora and his relationship with her. He would carry the weight of her loss every day, with or without them knowing. When he finished the tale of his ventures, the council dismissed him, telling him to return the next day.

So the day went and the morrow came. Naruto walked into the council chambers and only one member is present. The chairman of the Magic Council was an older man. He had seen much in his time, from his own ventures to the strongest sages completing the harshest quests, however this boy before him was still a surprise. "Young Naruto of Fairy Tail. We the council have decided to test your prowess. You will travel to Crocus and meet with the four Gods of Ishgar, and Jura the Wizard Saint. You and Jura will do battle. Should you prevail both that battle and the tests set by the four, you will be labeled the fifth Wizard Saint. A title Fairy Tail has gladly held for a long time. Do you find this acceptable?"

"Yes, I will leave for Crocus today." Naruto responded before turning and leaving the council. The young man had no idea what was in store for him.

-Break-

Naruto arrived in Crocus only a few days later. After he got a room at the inn, he took a trip to the palace and got a tour. He was very impressed at the grand architecture and elegant decorum. The palace was a massive sight in general, grand and fabulous. On his tour he even got to see the princess Hisui Fiore, but he never spoke to her. Naruto finished his tour and went to the arena where they held the Grand Magic Games. This was where he found out how serious these mages were.

Naruto had been informed that he would work directly with Jura during all phases and that the thought projections of the four gods of Ishgar would watch everything and recommend his position accordingly to the council. With that in mind, he made his way into the arenas center, where he met Jura. The instructions were all given preemptively due to the presented no talking order. They didn't have much time till this years games began, so they covered as much as they could in such a short period. Naruto set in to take the test issued by the council and battled the tall, brawny monk before him. After the battle, Naruto was called to meet the King and was knighted for the work he had done in Singrande. Even after all this he was still torn up over the loss of Kora. So Naruto took the path of life to Fairy Tail not knowing how often he would get lost before he made it home.

– X791 Magnolia –

"Men. I just wanted to give you this information Macao. Men, sniff." A short orange haired troll looking man told the fourth master of Fairy Tail.

"Thank you Ichiya we will look into this for sure. ALZACK, BISCA, JET, DROY, MAX! Get your things your going on a job for me." Macao spoke with little hope in his voice despite the information given to him, because he had lost that hope.

The group gathered with Macao and got the information then headed off to Hargeon to charter a ship and take them to their coordinates. [Assume the mission to find Tenrou Island ended same as in canon.]

-A few days later after the Tenrou team has begun settling back in-

Makarov Third and Sixth Master of Fairy Tail sat in his office with former Fourth Master Macao and Fifth Master tho brief it was Gildarts. They were reviewing and assessing the jobs that had been taken and either completed or not by various members since the Tenrou incident. Gildarts found himself reading a job that seemed familiar. Like he had seen it before.

We The Council hereby issue the following job

Job Details: You will travel to Era and get a map from the council after which you will make your way to the town Papyrus in the distant Island Singrande off the joined coast of the Pergrande Empire and the country of Sin. Thier you will meet the contact at the town Inn you will be outfitted with details and the job will commence. The official request is to Slay a Wingless Ice Drake that has been terrorizing that entire portion of the world for the last 15 years. As this is considered a 10 year job we inform any whom are interested over 100 mages of the S-rank have perished on this quest.

Job Payment: $70,000,000 Jewels + Consideration for the Title of Wizard Saint.

Job Accepted by S-Class Naruto Uzumaki.

"Master look at this one, doesn't this look familiar to you?" The brunette man passed the paper to Makarov who read it then blanched at the third person in the room.

"Macao Conbolt. This is a 10 year job that I denied Gildarts, so pray tell whom is this young man here."

"Oh, that is probably my biggest mistake. I approved a 14 year old boy to become an untested S-class and accept the job. He never came back." Macao spoke softly and with tears in his eyes knowing the mistake he had made.

"I see. We will have to send someone to the council to have his disappearance investigated as the journey I remember is very treacherous." Makarov trailed off deep in thought.

Outside the Guild Hall at the same time a blonde man walked to the doors. He was young at around 18 years old, 6 feet tall, 215 lbs, with long blonde hair and a black shirt with gray pants, also wearing funny looking black sandals and an orange haori with black flames with the kanji for flash embossed on the back, and held on by a Wizard Saint pin. This young man was Naruto Uzumaki, Wizard Saint, Fairy Tail S-class Mage, Knight of Fiore, and the slayer of the Shadow of the Ghost. He had a certain air about him that exuded calm and collected though a battle hardened expression on his face as he entered the guild to find it thriving and full of life for the first time he had ever seen, the Guild felt happy. Naruto for his part was very confused.

/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Lucy was at the bar catching up with Bisca when the girl gasped. She looked like she has seen a ghost. When she followed the green haired beauty's line of sight she was floored by the presence she now had in her sight. A chiseled man with blonde hair who seemed like he was out of place among the rowdy crowd within the guild. The man made eye contact with her and for the first time in her life everything stopped. Lucy was glued in place looked into this mans eyes, one was a beautiful azure blue, and the other was a bright fiery orange with a misshaped pupil. The eyes of a hardened warrior and yet she could see pain and kindness hidden in them. Lucy had never been so scared, horny, and confused as she was feeling right now.

Naruto looked around the guild and took in all the new faces until he made eye contact with a gorgeous blonde. She had perfect curves and kind eyes. This girls hair flowed in such a way Naruto couldn't help but stare. However he felt a great deal of pain from the excitement that she brought him. So he refocused and headed towards the Masters office. The crowd fell silently into deep observation as he knocked on the door.

The door to the office opened and Makarov for his part was surprised and confused as to who and what this person wanted. However, he heard a sniffing sound behind him and turned to see Macao crying and clutching the paper they had just been discussing in his hand. Makarov's eyes widened like saucers as he realized, this was Naruto, the missing wizard.

"Hello my boy. Welcome home." The old man spoke kindly

"Eh, sorry old man, I am trying to report to the Master. Could you move?" Naruto said genuinely confused by the smile on the mans face.

"Well then shall I introduce myself, I am Master Makarov Dreyar third and sixth master of Fairy Tail. I have been gone a very long time. Please come in and give the three of us your report."

Naruto briefed the three people on the complete details of his mission. From the entry to Bosco to the loss of Kora. He provided complete detail including what happened in Era and Crocus after he returned to Fiore. He had defeated Jura rather soundly using a combination of techniques nobody in this world had seen. Makarov, Gildarts, and Macao were handily impressed by everything they were told. Once he finished his recounting Makarov took the time to explain his absence in the last seven years with the others.

Once everyone was caught up on current happenings it was decided Naruto would be reintroduced to the guild. He would be named as the Ace of Fairy Tail due to his completion of the 10 year quest and status as a wizard saint. With this decided, the 4 left the cramped office and headed to the bar to make the announcement. Once again everything in the guild stopped and was completely silent as they waited for information from their master.

"Ladies and Gentlemages, my children. Today I introduce to some and reintroduce to others a mage who has brought to the guild today both amazing news and over 50 million jewel."

This of course sparked cried of "EH!" and "WHAT." However the master kept speaking.

"This young man is Naruto, Fifth Wizard Saint, Knight of Fiore, Savior of Singrande, and S-class Ace of the guild. He has returned to us at a special and well commemorated time where our family is reunited. He came to deliver the news that he and by extension, this guild, have completed a 10 year quest that was well on its way to becoming a century old! Naruto, my boy say something to introduce yourself."

"Thank you for your attention and for your time. Uh, I am not super great at speeches but I'm back, so thanks for being here." He vanished in a flash of orange almost instantly after he finished talking. The guild erupted in cheers and cries for ale. So that night Fairy Tail had a party rivaled only by the party they had days ago.

With this Naruto finally got to meet and see why Fairy Tail had felt so empty when he arrived. He didn't know why but he already loved everyone here and wanted to keep them safe. He wanted to get to know everyone better and become part of this family. Naruto knew he was going to find something here that he couldn't have had back home. It scared him though because he wasn't sure what it was yet. A certain blonde popped into his head, her eyes, her face, her golden hair. Just like that the thought was gone and Naruto felt terrible again. Like he was betraying Kora. Naruto sighed and left to set up a camp outside town so that he would be able to sleep since finding out the hut he had occupied belonged to one of the returned guild members.
