Sam woke up to the blaring alarm clock and the blanket being torn away from him. "Rise and shine Sammy" Dean called out; a bit too chipper for his tastes. "You're going to be late if you don't hurry" Dean said rushing towards the bathroom to brush his teeth. Sam groaned and turned to his back; eyes still refusing to open."Where's Dad?" he finally managed to ask groggily while dramatically draping his arm across his face and refusing to get up. "Rick called him last night and dad said he'd be back tomorrow night. If he asks, we ran the whole five this morning you got that?" Dean replied slapping the bottoms of his feet hard. "Ahh" Sam yelled furiously kicking at his brother and then crawling out of bed. "Get a move on already" Dean said while pulling up his jeans then quickly scanning the room for his boots.

Sam dawdled into the bathroom, lazily brushed his teeth, and then threw a shirt on before moseying on out. "You are still not dressed? Come on man. Hurry up" Dean admonished when he saw his brother walking out of the bathroom still half dressed. Sam picked up a pair of jeans from his duffle bag and quickly pulled them up. He then hurriedly pulled up his socks and slid on his shoes not wanting to be late for school. When he caught Dean's glare and inpatient foot tap, he couldn't resist developing a slow saunter towards the door. The purposely aggravating pace prompted Dean to lob a wrapped Poptart in his unsuspecting brothers direction. "Don't forget your breakfast" he quipped as the foil wrapper made contact with his head. "Let's go" he said pushing Sam out the door when his speed had decreased to a dawdling crawl. Pleased with his ability to push Dean's buttons, Sam smiled to himself while walking to the car.

Dean could tell something was on Sam's mind the moment they entered the car. "I could read that kid like a book" he thought as they rounded the school and Sam opened his mouth. "Uh, hey Dean" Sam began and Dean instantly knew he didn't like where this conversation was going. Dean threw a quick glance over at Sam and his little brother started "is it Ok if I hang out after school today?" he asked hopefully. Due to the cold weather, the park was all but abandoned this time a year and since there was no supervision, it instantly became the preferred hangout spot for the teens in town. Sam really wanted to see Molly again and he knew she would be there with some of the other kids from his class.

Dean momentarily took his eyes off the road and sighed. "Did you forget you're grounded?" he asked. "I mean, it hasn't even been 72 hours since dad read you the riot act". He shook his head then added, "he was real pissed Sammy. He hadn't gotten on you like that in a while." Sam turned to look at Dean eyes pleading "dads nit here and he won't be back today. Please Dean, Ill be back by 8" he countered hoping Dean would agree and give in.

Dean however didn't budge. "No Sam. If Dad calls and you are out, he'd just about kill you" he muttered at his brother's absurdity. He shook his head and held on tighter to the steering wheel than he needed to because that little brother of his could try the patience of a saint. Sam crossed his arms "let me worry about dad" he then huffed. Dean looked at his brother and let out a frustrated laugh as he thought "for a smart kid, you sure are stupid". Sam went on "please Dean. He won't find out if you don't tell him." "Sam, you're an idiot. Can't you tell you're already in hot water" Dean snapped, fully irritated at his brothers request. "You don't have to look after me Dean, I'm a big boy now and can look after myself" Sam yelled, face in a scowl and arms still crossed at his chest.

Dean quickly turned the car into a parking spot at the school, pointedly turned to look at Sam then hissed "Alright smartass. But this is nonnegotiable. You will be home right after school". Sam's face softened as he as he whined "but why can't I stay for just a little while?" Dean, having enough of this exchange said "fine Sam, do it your way. But if you are not waiting for me outside of this school at dismissal, I will call dad myself." Dean got out of the car and slammed the door leaving Sam pouting by the impala. A petulant Sam met Dean at dismissal as he realized the seriousness in his brothers voice.
