Timeline: After the JV/Varsity game and the Ducks win
Synopsis: After winning the game against older coubterparts the varsity warriors, the ducks decide to rewrite the playbook and incorporate news ways. Ways that call for what their new coach has taught them now, as they get several returning members of the team from years past now. The Ducks second semester tests their bonds as a team like nothing ever could.
As the 13 ducks accept their new coach and the old ducks don't, can the team members attending the school control their new/old ducks. And before it causes them to wash out of the term, as Charlie prepares for the fight that made him who he was as the player leader. As the last game of the season is against their arch rival of their Peewee years: The Hawks and their coach, Jack Reilly.
Warnings: For this chapter, Jesse meets Orion and reunites with his friends of the Junior goodwill games, as he knows everything in their grouping stayed the same. Although for the quintet, it's clear that they're having a harder time accepting this than Jesse can with a new coach and new school.

Chapter 5: The New Eden Hall Ducks And The First Practice II
"Issues on the first day of practice here, but you guys better put the breaks on, and again, that's enough of the pranks and practical jokes guys." Orion said to him and he nodded. "Hey coach, same as Bombay huh, you know this sometimes the old ways don't always work, we're now teenagers here now. And we got to change the playbook, as Stanton and Reilly knew everything about us, they were ready for us?" Jesse said and he nodded gently at that remark.
"Yeah exactly, that's just what I'm talking about, we need to change a few things, as out of the 6 of you, you know me the best, as your peers had me. And for 4 months now, and now it's a massive change up as the quintet get used to it, as I'm Gordon as a high school coach now, so get ready son." he said and Jesse nodded to him gently. "Why do I feel like we're expecting trouble later on, if these guys are as dangerous as McGill, Larson and their friends were."
"If that guy barely broke his wrist and for the second time in four years?" he asked, crossing his arms and Orion nodded. "It's because like the Hawks they're as spoiled as it comes, their parents give them everything no one give them something solid to stand on, but I do." he said and the 14 nodded. "We look dangerous and we're not, while they don't look dangerous and they are, I see the book metaphor here." Connie said to that and Jesse nodded in agreement.
"Oh lovely, it's back to that again, but in my brother's words we don't stop digging till we score that goal." Russ said to that and she nodded. "Yeah street hockey gave us an added power play that later would come in handy, we let them train here on the rink we're taking it to the town skating rink." he said and they nodded. "Or the broken window on my neighbor's car, but don't sweat it, that happens all the time." Russ said to him and he nodded to the news.
"Neighbor, your family lives in that apartment building?" Connie repeated and he nodded. "Yeah we do, but with me in boarding school for the next four years on scholarship, dad's relieved I told him that we got it fixed that quick." he told her and she nodded. "How's Jim?" Charlie asked and he smiled. "He's great, I'll tell him you guys said hi." he said and they nodded. "Yeah we'd appreciate that." Adam said to him and Terry looked at him then gently at the news.
"Well tell Jim and his friends we say hi, if we get handpicked for another round we're coming back out to see them for next summer's round a second time." he said and Orion chuckled at that remark. "They were helping in training us, as we learned to play for real, as no longer peewee, but junior high to high school in hockey here, but first Bombay, then Jim training us and now we got you." Connie said and Orion nodded smiling gently at the remark as he hid a chuckle.
"Charlie, we didn't have Iceland spying on us, when we were with Russ, Jim and their friends, that maybe our one chance, outside of school works here. And before someone in these guys does anymore damage after the level of hazing we dealt with." Goldberg said and he nodded in agreement to that. "But we train here, and we got them watching everything to counteract it." Charlie said to Orion and he nodded. "Nice thinking Captain." he said and Charlie nodded.
"The only good thing here right now, is the fact now is we got a way to live up to our scholarships as we work over time, first away game is in two weeks." Adam said to him and he nodded in agreement. "So we spend two weeks in training, changing the play-book further, so every time the Hawks or Varsity are watching. Well we change plays, and we got them completely confused in trying to figure out which one is which." Tammy Duncan said to that gently.
"Whoa, I see where you're going, change the play-book, for one game, change it for another, and the, keep changing our plays here now in this guys. And till we got them wondering which plays are going to be used." Jesse said as he started laughing at that. "Yeah and this was a practice scrimmage game, so we can get comfortable with each other, but we take it to the pro hockey rink, or take it to the rink that we all met at." Dean said to him and Charlie and they nodded.
"Lock the damn door, or we take it to the North Star skating rink and we train there, but both have security, so if it's not Bombay or our parents no one in now." Guy said and Orion nodded smiling as he and Charlie both looked up and saw Gordon Bombay Charlie called out to him then gently. "Hey coach, could we get a pass to train on the North Stars skating rink, we don't need these guys spying on us here, like Stanton was?" he asked and Bombay nodded.
"I can strike a deal with the owner of the rink, but yeah no problem." he said and they nodded in relief. "The 13 of us were slowly adjusting to having Coach Orion as our coach, but now the quintet do, but pretend this was when we first met the quintet and Russ." Fulton said to Jesse and he nodded. "Yeah I see where you're going with this Fulton, but we need to make sure we got them, before someone gets laid out for a third time." he said in response then.
"Like I said Coach, Stanton knew everything about us, they were ready for us, but you get side tracked and we're going to lose here but this now is big. We got to train without being spied on while doing it right now." Julie said to them and he nodded in agreement to that. "So practice five times a week?" Goldberg asked and he nodded. "Yeah good idea, just not if you got an test or quiz you got to study for." Orion said to him and he nodded to that remark.
"Better put a pause on this practice, we don't need them or the Hawks spying on us." Jesse said to him and he nodded. "Yeah good idea, we take it to the skating rink we met up at, when we had the quintet join in, before we added Russ." Connie said to him and he nodded. "Yeah we train as we get used to being a new team, but three versions of team and the 11 got to get used to working together, the 8 of us have together for a long time here right now in this."
"But it's like both sides are getting territorial with us, we're one version with our original jersey, and the new one with the sticks crossed here right now. But not one or the other, we're the best of both now guys." Adam said to that remark and the 7 nodded to that remark in agreement. "Want to say it or should I Jess, Bombay finally talked some sense into me, after Hans died here, things changed, we're in a new school new team with both sides together."
"And we got a new coach, who is just like him, but him as a high school hockey coach, nothings changed, we're still us, you know it, as just one fast reaction. And after the guy that nearly rammed Connie, just did it again here, these guys are getting too rough with the girls, and we get testy and overly protective?" Charlie asked him and he nodded. "Hey Cat, Hammer, you okay?" he asked and the duo nodded gently to him at that remark as he crossed his arms at that.
"Hammer?" Russ repeated and he started laughing. "Yeah that's her nickname, the belted hammer." he said and the quintet started laughing at that. "Oh I don't want to get in her way, once she lets go and starts acting like the bull in the china shop." Dean said laughing at that. "After McGill knocked Tammy over, Fulton decided on payback, by throwing him backwards into his team box, and nearly picked a fight with the entire team." Charlie told him and he nodded.
"Before he got taken out of the game, and don't over do it guys, seriously once was enough on that." Adam said to them at that with a chuckle. "After they beat the crap out of you, in a cross check, and that could have broken your shoulder." Connie said to him and he nodded sternly. "Yeah mixture of thegame with the Hawks, and an instant replay with Iceland, that we got to make sure we got each other's back, before someone really gets hurt here."
"But I think we, as the main portion of the team can agree with this, but work as one, we win every battle, at odds with each other, and it tears us apart." Goldberg said and they nodded. "Yeah, time to call it, before we got a repeat, before the fight in class." Adam said to that remark firmly. "Yeah I agree with that Adam, but seriously, it's we've been together so long we know what to do now, the 11 got to get used to working together like we have."
"New school, new team, new coach, but the 7 and I are still the same, no matter what version we are here, but listen to me, before you lead another revolt. Peter, it's a case of I changed and grew up here, I got used to my new team mates, and Russ and I were like you and me together at one point here. But we're not those kids anymore, I know I'm in a new school and I got a new coach, but everything else stayed the same, now it's you got to get used to this."
"This is what Bombay wanted Charlie to see, same old ducks, nothings changed, we're still us, sure we're in fancy clothes, going to a private school now. And we got a new coach, everything stayed the same time now, look at us, do we look like we let the sponsors change us?" Jesse asked and Peter swallowed hard at that remark, as he realized he nailed him right to the wall after Adam came into the picture and knew the 7 thought it the same way then.
"Nice that's just what I wanted to hear from you honey, you see this is why we were so hard on your team mates as they adjusted to being in this school. And they passed our test and they love it here now." they heard and smiled as their English teacher came in and with her was their history and science teachers. "Hey Mrs. Madigan, Ms. Hancock, Mr. Parker, Mr. Jamison, Jess this is Andrea Erickson, James Parker, Damian Jamison and Kristen Hancock."
"They teach the freshman classes here, and were the ones testing us through our first four months, but trust me, if I didn't know any better at the time here. Then I would think Mr. Parker used to be an author here, that he makes the subject of history beyond interesting." Charlie said smiling and they smiled. "Caught me son, I was an author, before I became a teacher, so the embellishment was meant to get you interested here." Parker said to him and he nodded.
"The remark over history and the giant and elf or dwarf, I think you over did it here." Goldberg said and he nodded smiling. "I know, but what goes into these stories was meant to teach you, but the rest of you enjoy class so much you can't get enough of my stories in English and history." he said and they nodded smiling and Jesse smiled as he said it to them to introduce himself. "Jesse Hall, nice to meet you Sirs, Mam." he said to them, smiling to them gently.
"I'm part of the 14, before we got in on scholarship, the last of the ducks on Goodwill Games." he said and they nodded. "Nice to meet you too son, welcome aboard." Damian Jamison said to him and he nodded. "I take it your sister was the principal at our elementary school, you look just like her Mam?" he asked and she chuckled and nodded. "Yes, and she told me one of you started a near fist fight in your science class." she said and he nodded as he explained it.
"These guys were irritated Fulton and Charlie chose Bombay rather then joining them, but an implication resulted in a near fist fight, Charlie's mother. She and the coach were close to getting together, before he left to try out in minor league and she got married." he said and she nodded. "Hmm, mm, alright people we don't need another fight breaking out, after the varsity and you got into it once, before Ted broke it up." Buckley said for all of them and they all nodded.
"To repeat that, if Reilly or Wilson were arriving, and I was the one preventing someone from breaking anything it's a damn good thing I'm not their coach. Or they're doing laps for a month here, you guys are my cubs, so I'm just preventing you guys from killing each other here at the moment." he said and Charlie nodded. "Yeah now they done it, he's made his claim on us." Jesse said and the man nodded gently at that remark as he lifted his gaze up then.
And nodded sternly. "Yes, but I walk in here one more time after that with whoever started the fight and you tell me who started it, and someone is doing laps. And for the rest of the semester here, and I mean every word in that." he said and the raised his voice at that sternly. "But gentlemen, try that again with my team and you're being expelled here, and I'm not kidding!" he called out and Buckley turned and saw the Varsity and Hawks starting line ups in the stands.
"So you're Jack Reilly, alright I'm making it highly clear, lay a hand on the girls like that again, I'll kill you myself, and I mean every word." he said sternly to Coach Jack Reilly sternly. "You remember what Gordon was like after you start taking headshots at the kids, well you crossed the one man you shouldn't have. And Banks nearly broken that arm one too many times, and that's enough, so try it again and I'm calling the cops." he said and the Varsity paled at that.
"I'm a professional hockey player, training my cubs for the real thing, but I retired because my daughter was injured in a car accident and chose to stay here. I know what being around hotshots like you results in here, but Winnie now, we're finishing what you started where she's concerned, but Gordon knows you. Well I can learn, but I guarantee, that you're trying to send a spy to watch us in action is doomed to failure starting now." he said and Reilly swallowed hard.
"Guys I know it's going to take time to get used to him as your new coach, I've been with the sextet so long now, we know what to do here." Jesse said to Peter, Karp, Terry and the Duncans and they nodded. "Yeah changes and adjustments, but trust me, if we want to make it to college age hockey, or Olympics or Goodwill games once again, we got to make changes, our peewee plays will not cut it at this age." Connie said to them and the quintet nodded gently.
"So adjust those plays, make changes and we messed up as we had one too many on the rink, and we had to skate Ken down, and someone else ended up in the box." Fulton said and Connie covered her eyes. "And Dean was that really necessary?" she asked and Charlie started laughing at that. "Tell you later guys, but we got enforcers, that at times the metaphor of taking out the trash goes a little overboard." Guy Tremaine said and they nodded with an amused look.
"Literally, by throwing said trash into the stands, that's going too far son, so don't over do it." Orion said with a chuckle at that. "But these guys are no better then we are here, but rich or not, they're nothing but gutter trash." Connie said to that remark." she said and he nodded in agreement. "Well we're back to being a full flock again at least, two versions or 3, nothing changes." Averman said to that and she and Guy both nodded in agreement to that.
"Yeah for me it's easy, I was in two versions here, before the quintet came back here." he said to her and she smiled and hugged him. "Just glad to have you back, Jess." she said and he smiled as he pressed his forehead to her at that in response. "Missed you too, Connie, but never leaving you again Sis, I promise." he said to her and the sextet exchanged grins at that remark as Orion hid a chuckle at that seeing a very deep bond between his players then gently.
"God this is going to be a long school year now." they heard and he started laughing as Charlie turned and saw his girlfriend. "I know Lin, but we got a way to make sure these hotshots never know what got changed in practice, but I'll tell you undercover later." he said to her and she nodded. "So I take he's one of you, if he's got a matching jersey you guys, the 13 of you wear?" she asked and he nodded. "Yeah he's goodwill games Duck." he said and she smiled gently.
"Jesse, this is my girlfriend Linda, Linda, this is Jesse Hall." he said and he nodded. "Nice to meet you Jesse, honey, the committee in the pep rally voted. And on a school mascot change, and you're it." she said and they smiled. "So the duck mask with the hockey sticks in a cross, Linn?" Connie asked and she nodded to her. "Yeah that's what we decided on, new ducks and old duck new future." she said and they nodded smiling gently at that news at the remark then.
