A/N: Now we have Brennan Christine a treehouse and a backpack
Brennan glanced at her phone as the notification for motion detected in the backyard popped up, she saw Christine walking toward the newly built treehouse with a stuffed backpack on her back. Brennan turned her attention to Hank and was relieved to see that the 15-month-old was finally sleeping in her arms , she waited a few more moments before she put Hank in his crib. Brennan went to the kitchen and started making spaghetti, Christine's favorite dinner. When everything was done Brennan went outside and climbed the ladder to the treehouse and stood on the last step. "Christine, dinner is ready…"
" I don't want it…"
"I made spaghetti…"
"I don't want it because I ran away…"
"…You ran away to your treehouse?"
"Yep…"
"Okay. Why did you run away to your treehouse?"
"Because I'm mad at daddy…"
"Why are you mad at daddy?"
"Because he took Parker on a trip…"
"Christine, you know daddy and Parker always go on trip before he goes back to England. You also know that when daddy gets back he'll take you somewhere…"
"But they get to stay in a hotel though…it's not fair!..."
"Christine… Dinner is ready if you want it…"
"I don't.."
"Okay." Brennan made her way down the ladder and went inside. A half hour later she was packing up Christine's dinner to take to the treehouse when Booth called. 'Hello Booth."
"Hey Bones. How is everything?"
"Good. Christine ran away-"
"BONES! You need to call Aubrey! How long ago did she…I can be home in three hours if I use the siren…BONES! How can you be so calm?!"'
"Because she ran away to her treehouse… I watched her go across the backyard on the security camera when I was in Hank's room."
Booth laughed, "She ran away to the treehouse?"
"Yes…"
"Why?"
"She's mad at you for going on a trip with Parker and because you two get to stay in a hotel…"
"She's never been upset before when we've gone on trips…"
"I think this time she feels left out because you're off with Parker and I've been occupied with Hank's illness. Usually when you're away I try and do something fun with them, but since Hank's been sick I haven't done anything special…"
"How is he?"
"I think he's doing better. The pediatrician gave him medicine to help with his congestion. I gave him some when we got home and he fell asleep thirty minutes later. Hopefully after a good night's sleep and some more medication he'll be a lot better in the morning."
"Hopefully. Let me talk to the juvenile runaway."
"Okay." Brennan walked across the backyard, sliding her phone in her pocket as she went up the ladder and stood on the top step.
"Christine, daddy wants to talk to you…"
"I don't wanna talk to him!"
"Okay."
Brennan went back in the house, "I guess I need to make our daddy/daughter day at least a daddy/daughter overnight trip."
"Probably wouldn't hurt."
"I'm going to look up hotels for me and baby girl to stay at next weekend when we go to Disney on ice. "
"Okay. I'm going to finish packing up her dinner so I can leave it at the top of the treehouse stairs. I'm also going to leave the alarm off and the backdoor unlocked so she can come in whenever she wants to"
"Sounds good. give her hugs from me when she comes in."
"I will."
"I hope Hank sleeps tonight and feels better in the morning."
"Me too."
"I love you, Bones."
'I love you too, Booth."
Brennan finished packing the spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and two chocolate chip cookies. Plus, water into a small cooler. She grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch and went back outside and wordlessly sat the cooler just inside the treehouse and put the blanket on top.
Brennan had just finished cleaning up from feeding Hank some plain noodles and a little applesauce and another dose of medication and getting him back in bed when Christine walked in the kitchen. "Mommy, can I come inside?"
"Of course, sweetheart." Christine ran across the kitchen into Brennan's arms.
"Did you eat your dinner?"
"Uh-huh. I left the cooler in the treehouse and my backpack."
"That's okay, we can get them in the morning. Why don't you get ready for bed and then you can watch a movie in bed with me. You can sleep there tonight too if you want."
"Okay." Twenty minutes later Christine was snuggled next to Brennan watching Peter Rabbit.
B&B
The next morning Brennan left Christine sleeping and got ready, and checked on Hank before going out to the treehouse to retrieve the cooler and Christine's backpack. Once she got back inside Brennan put the cooler on the counter and the backpack on a stool. Then she started making peanut butter pancakes, Christine came into the kitchen a few minutes later.
"Morning, mommy."
"Good morning sweetheart, did you sleep well?"
"Uh-huh. Can we go somewhere today?"
"I'm afraid not, Hank is still really sick, he's getting better, but I don't want to take him outside. We can stay in our pajamas and watch movies all day if you want."
"Okay." Christine picked up her backpack.
"What did you pack in there?"
Christine opened the backpack and pulled out her two favorite dolls, some books, a t-shirt and shorts, her piggy bank, two apples, an orange, a snack size package of dried fruit, some crackers and her water bottle. The last thing she pulled out was a picture of Booth and Brennan from the press tour of her third book.
"The essentials. Why did you choose that picture of me and daddy?"
"Because your dress is pretty…"
Brennan smiled, "Would you like bananas or mini chocolate chips in your peanut butter pancakes?"
"Can I have both?"
"Yes."
"Can I call daddy?"
"After you eat breakfast."
"Okay."
