The group soon made it over to the hub area where with all four key pieces, the chest started to open as the jewel emerged and started burning everything into a circular arena.
"What in the world is going on here?" Koren asked.
"Hello. I have been waiting for you." a voice said as a purple jewel with an eye and tentacles descended.
"Oh my gosh, Cheetah's right. That gem really is sentient." Luke said.
"I see the greedy little imp has already told you about me. That makes things a little easier." the jewel said. "I wasn't always like this, you know. In ancient times, I actually am a gem that grants people wishes. Their desires give me power, and well… You guys all know the whole spiel by now."
"Yes, yes, many times. Humans used your wish-granting abilities for selfish ends and that turned you into this, right?" Angelo asked.
"Then I have no need to explain." the jewel said. "So thus, the Spritelings sealed me away in an ancient ruin, supposedly where no one could ever find me… That is...until someone actually did." the jewel said, turning its eye to Wario.
"Just as we thought." Zamazenta said.
"He actually had no idea what kind of power I held, did he? So, I figured that I'd teach him a lesson about investing in researching what he's actually trying to steal. I destroyed his castle and turned his bountiful treasure into monsters. Sounds like a reasonable way to teach him that lesson, right?" the jewel asked.
"That depends on your definition of reasonable." Belladonna said.
"Eh, good point." the jewel said. "But in any case, you people know what I'm talking about, right?"
"Are you trying to manipulate us into taking you with us?" Cheetah asked.
"Oh come on. You know you want it. The power to defeat those enemies of yours. Your Wonder Woman and that boy. You know who I'm talking about." the jewel said.
"Tempting, but I'll gain that power on my own." Cheetah said.
"Your loss. But that just means that I'll have to kill you all now. Too late to regret this now." the jewel said as it fired lasers at the group. They freed the Spritelings to stun it a few times before it unleashed its attacks again.
"We're almost there. Keep it up!" Wario said as they freed more Spritelings.
"You have changed nothing! Humans will always be motivated by their own greed, unleashing catastrophes just for their own benefits!" the jewel said.
"Maybe so. But that is simply human nature. It's what gives them the right to choose their own path." Cheetah said as she freed the last Spriteling and wailed on the gem.
"No… This isn't… This isn't what I… G-Gaaaah!" the jewel screamed in agony before it was destroyed.
When the light fades, Wario's castle was restored with treasure all around as he laughs.
"This castle is even better than my last one! This is great!" Wario said.
"Glad you're happy, my man. It was the least we can do." Agito said.
"You know, you all have been really good helpers. So since I'm in such a good mood, I'll let you each take any one treasure among them." Wario said.
"How generous of you." Cheetah said.
"I figured you deserved some kind of reward for your efforts." Wario said.
The group each picked out a treasure from Wario's collection before they all left his world in search of new adventures.
The End...
