Draco POV
Draco, Theo, and Blaise all followed Granger up into her loft. Looking around Draco noticed a few things. For one thing, the girl had a LOT of books, but remembering her from school that wasn't much of a surprise. What did completely and utterly surprised him was the fact that most of the things she had were very dark colors. Draco always assumed Granger would have bright colors everywhere because that was always the way he percieved her. Maybe he never knew Granger as well as he thought he did. Maybe nobody knew the real Granger.
"Here is where it all started..." Granger began. "First let's take care of the elephant in the room."
All three wizards looked at her with confused expressions. "The what?" they asked simultaneously.
"Ugh. Sorry, muggle expression. It means the thing no one is saying but is blaringly obvious. Meaning...my break-up with Ron and my falling out with Harry."
"Muggles are wierd..."Blaise wispered.
"I know" Hermione replied. "Ok, let's start with when Ron and I started dating after the war. Ron and I were dating for a while and at first it was great, but then other girls started to give him attention. You know, for being a 'war hero'", at this she rolled her eyes and used air quotation marks.
As Draco was listening to her story, he kept thinking about two things. The first being why she ever put up with those to nitwits she called her best friends. Everyone knew neither of those idiots would have survived if it weren't for Granger. Everyone knew that Hermione Granger, muggleborn know it all, first in our class, brightest witch of our age, was 99% of the Golden Trio. The other two basically just had to show up. The other thing he kept thinking about was how Granger was not who anyone thought she was. At all.
At school, the Hermione Granger would always be studying and bossing people around. She basically lived in the Hogwarts library. While all of that is true, it is almost like the Hermione Granger in front of him still explaining everything that led her to this point, in front of her childhood bullies no less, is a completely different person. It's like she hid this other side to herself. She is sarcastic and dark. She is wild and carefree. She threated to obliviate them for Merlin's sake. What the bloody hell was that about? Was she experienced with that spell? And if so, why? Whatever happened to her in the last year had to have been good for her. She seems more comfortable in her own skin.
Something else he thought about, but refused to admit, was how much more attractive he found her. Granger has always been pretty. Even when she had those large buck teeth. But Draco was never allowed to think about her that way. So he didn't. Now though, nothing is stopping him from thinking about how gorgeous she has gotten since school. It's not just her appearance either. It's in the way she walks. In the way she talks. She is less know it all and bossy, and more confident and laid back. Was she always like this? Was she hiding it? Or, was he never truly looking?
As Draco was thinking all this he was still listening as Granger was finishing up.
"Then I moved here. I know I didn't go far. Just a few towns over. Then again, everyone would have expected me to go somewhere far away, America or Australia. I started my song writing and performing. I love it. I also love that no one knows I'm here. Hence, the alias "Jean Parker" keeps people off of my trail. Not that anyone is looking anymore, but still." Granger finished up her explaination leaving the boys in shock. She just divulged her whole story to them without any hesitation.
Blaise looked over at Draco and Theo at a loss of words. "Wow, I don't know if I'm shocked that you just told us all that or if I'm shocked about how you kept this up for so long." muttered Blaise.
"Like I said before. I basically have nothing to lose. Also, if I have to, I'll just obliviate you." she replied calmly. All three slytherins looked at her both in awe and with a little bit of fear.
Theo decided this was the time to ask the obvious question. "Yes, about that. Care to explain why you could easily obliviate us? That is a very difficult spell. Who have you even used it on?"
At that the witch shut down. All of her walls came back up. "I don't like to talk about it." she said in a dark, cold voice. "Moving on, any other questions?" she asked in a falsely bright voice.
"I have a few questions" Draco stated. "They aren't exactly about how you became a musician though." Granger waved her hand in a 'go on' motion. "Ok, first of all, what happened to you? You seem so laid back and before at school you always seemed to be uptight. You seem so confident and dark and sarcastic. You were none of those things in school. So, what happened?" Draco exclaimed.
Hermione POV
For the first time since he said her name in the bar, Hermione looked over at Malfoy. Really looked at him. The first thing she took note of was his hair. He no longer wore it slicked back like in first year or cropped short like he did later on. He now wore it loose and shaggy. Long enough to run your fingers through it. Then she noticed his clothing. He was wearing something edgy like herself. Muggle too. He was wearing a dark grey t-shirt with an american rock band logo on the front. He was also wearing black ripped jeans like herself. Not skinny jeans, but looser. Right in between skinny and baggy. Attached to his pants was a silver chain. To complete his ensemble, his shoes were a pair of black combat boots. Needless to say, he looked nothing like he did in school. Nearly all of his arrogance and superiority was gone, replaced with a carefree, don't give a shite aura. He has grown into his previously pointy features, making him seem more chisled than anything else. Honestly, the whole look suited him.
Hermione laughed lightly at his questions. "What do you mean 'What happened to you'?" she asked in a slightly teasing way. "Nothing happened to me. I have always been like this. You just never really cared enough to notice before now." She said with a smile. "As for seeming uptight, I was always stressed out between tweedledee and tweedledum getting into trouble and trying to prove that I belonged in the Wizarding world. Now I don't have to worry about any of that."
"Oh. That makes sense I guess." Malfoy replied.
"I could say the same of you" she told the blonde. "You don't look anything like you used to. You used to be super uptight and arrogant. You also had this superiority complex. Now you look like you are laid back. You look carefree, as if you don't care what anyone else says about you." Hermione retorted.
"Touche" was his reply to her analysis.
Nott and Zabini stood by watching the interation between the Slytherin Prince and Gryfindor Princess in silence. They looked at each other and had a silent conversation with nothing but their eyes both agreeing that these two would be great together.
"What about you two?" Hermione asked. Unknowingly, breaking them out of their conversation. "Any questions?".
"Nope" they both replied.
"Good. Now, let's go back downstairs and get a drink before my next set." Hermione said. With that they all walked out of the loft satisfied with the answers they were given. The only thing left unanswered was whether or not the slytherin trio would keep Hermione's secret and what was going to happen next.
