Disclaimer: I don't own Danny Phantom or Monster High. I do not own the original story this is based on.
The hours of the summer day sped by as Spectra Vondergeist typed away feverishly on her laptop. After saying goodbye to Danny the other day, the ghoul went hard at work on an accompanying article for the Gory Gazette and only had a couple days before the deadline. Though she forgot one thing.
"These are some nice photos, Spectra," Cleo teased, surprising the ghost girl.
Spectra flew up to see her friends looking at the various photos she took of Danny Phantom and his fight with the giant slime ghost. Or that's what they seemed to be doing. It was hard to say since they were giggling and glancing at their ghostly reporter friend.
"Indeed, you can really see the glow in Danny's eyes in this one," Draculaura said as she held it up to Frankie.
"I took a photo like that!?" Spectra said in surprise as she flew over. Only to see it was a picture of the ghost boy firing an ectoplasmic ray at his foe.
I can't believe I fell for that. The ghost girl thought, embarrassed. She heard her friends laughing and glared at them. "Not funny, ghouls," Spectra pouted.
"Seriously, it's fangsolutely batdorable how you're so into him," Draculaura added.
"Yeah, you're all over him the minute he's the hot topic," Frankie said with a giggle.
Spectra rolled her eyes. Yeah, she had it bad for the ghost boy, but who could blame her? When she first heard of a ghost fighting other ghosts, everyone in school thought it was a turf war or the like. After hearing of Danny's fight against Pariah Dark, however, that's when the boy got Spectra's attention.
And to see she had a date with said ghost boy already had her reporter senses tingling, but seeing him in action against the Guys in White, that was breathtaking for her. And she didn't need to breathe.
"Feariously though, we're happy for you, Spectra," Frankie said. The rest of the ghouls nodded, comforting the pouting ghost girl.
"Yeah, you hooked yourself with a fine manster," Clawdeen added.
"He's a great ghost. You two were meant for each other," Draculaura cheered.
"And if he loses sight of that, then his lose," Cleo added. Her comment had the gang staring at her, much to the mummy's confusion. "What?"
"Uhhh..." Ghoulia moaned.
"Yeah, exactly, you could've worded that better," Lagoona said.
"I only meant what was best for her," Cleo said in her usual way while the others rolled their eyes at that.
"So, what's next?" Frankie asked.
That's when Spectra's smile flipped over. She slowly went back to her desk as the other followed. She was dead silent as her mind went back to her previous encounter with Danny. And her first meeting with Sam and Tucker. Tucker was a nice boy. Though his name rung a bell somewhere. The ghoul would check into it later. It was Sam who was a problem.
The goth stormed out as if her honor had been insulted. Danny said to give the girl some space, but it had been a couple days, and no word from the ghost boy yet. While overdramatic, the ghost girl knew a broken heart at sight, or more specifically, the pain it brings. Memories of a short romance came back as Spectra emptied her mind of these thoughts.
Danny was not Porter, and she wasn't saying anything bad about her previous ghostly crush or the halfa on her heart. Both boys were different people.
She just hoped things would cool down after these few days away. She just hoped Sam wouldn't try to steal Danny, an ironic thought since the two were friends, to begin with.
"Yoo boo...Spectra," Lagoona said, waving a hand in front of the ghost girl's face. "You there?"
"Huh?," Spectra said as she snapped out of her thoughts. "Oh, yeah. Sorry. Things are just tense right now with a friend of Danny's, but hopefully, he's taken care of things."
Her ghoulfriends stared at Spectra, unsure of what to make of the statement. This was the first they were hearing of a spat involving Danny's friends.
"His friend?" Frankie asked.
Spectra explained what happened with Sam, and the ghouls were shocked about this gothic girl. While it was obvious Sam had feelings for Danny, there was no need for such levels of anger.
"Just make sure not to get too territorial with her," Clawdeen said in a hinting voice. "We don't need to hear the gory details of you kissing Danny or anything."
The shy ghost girl blushed at that.
"N-No, I...wouldn't do that yet...I mean!... I would kiss Danny, but..oooh!" Spectra stammered with a deep blush. She had no idea how to answer that and quickly buried her head into her work, trying to find an escape.
The monster girls all giggled as they decided to leave Spectra be. They soon left the ghost girl to her work, closing the door as they left, unaware of a guest behind the door, out of sight from the monster girls.
Spectra sighed as she went back to work. She had a deadline to meet and had so many articles to edit and type up. But as she went about her business, she couldn't get the events from fast ago out of her mind.
"I wonder how mad could the normie be?" Spectra mused as she thought about how Danny is doing. The ghoul could barely get any work done for today.
Since the spooky introduction of Spectra, Danny had been doing his best to calm down Sam, as in give her space and leaving her alone for a couple of days, but the goth was still surly. She didn't even comment about, well, anything else as they met up today. Vlad even held a press conference this morning, and the girl ignored it. Or she didn't notice. It was hard to tell with her face in a constant state of a scrunchiness. Even her parents let her be.
Apparently, even they were now scared of her.
I hope she's okay. Danny thought, still worried for his friend.
However, he had to focus on his arch-enemy's press conference. He just knew there was bad news with his latest bit of televised gloating. The man loved to broadcast his plot then pass it off as a joke, something only a few people knew better. But before the boy could listen in, someone came crashing in through the ceiling, a certain obnoxious box-obsessed ghost.
"Beware!" the Box Ghost declared.
Danny, already preoccupied with his concerns, wasted no time in blasting the ghost away. He then encased his box-obsessed annoyance in ice before leaving. He was in no mood and pulled no punches. Besides, there are plenty of other ghosts which he could be worried about.
Sadly, two of his foes surprised him with an ectoblast at his back. The boy turned to see a wisp of black with a blob of green.
"Spectra!? Bertrand!?" Danny cried in surprise.
Floating before the boy were his ghostly foes, Penelope Spectra and Bertrand. Both of them flew in wispy black and globby green forms, respectively, as they grinned.
"What were you expecting? A different Spectra?" The dark banshee snarked.
"Actually, yes, I was," Danny answered back honestly, much to the surprise of the two ghosts.
"Very funny," Penelope snarked. She thought the boy was messing with her.
Danny's blank face said otherwise.
"I think he's serious," Bertrand whispered.
Spectra blinked before scowling. "Wow, that's just rude," she said before flying around Danny.
Bertrand charged forward, using his ghostly powers to turn into a tiger. Not to be met with a large snowball, sending him back.
"I know cats don't like water, but what's your opinion on snow?" Danny quipped as he charged another snowball.
It was then the evil Spectra charged in, clawing away with glowing talons that reeked of malevolent energy. The ghost boy dodged in time, throwing the icy orb at his dark foe. He knocked her down, screaming, but Bertrand's tiger form came and pounced from behind. He rolled the ghost boy onto a roof and stared down with predatory eyes.
Danny struggled to get up, but Bertrand was a lot stronger than he appeared, and the claws were digging into him deeply.
"Not so tuff now! Are ya, little puppy!?" Bertrand said with Danny pinned down. But he soon felt a pair of feet on his belly.
"Will you please GET OFF ME!" Danny yelled as he kicked the tiger off him.
Bertrand yelled as he spiraled backward. He recovered quickly in the air but found another snowball hurdling towards him. Unable to dodge, Bertrand blasted out of the frozen, fluffy attack to see the smug smirk on Danny.
"I hope you liked the ice I put in that one," Danny taunted.
A slash from Penelope Spectra wiped his smirk off as he turned to face her. Bertrand took a position behind him, aiming to attack in a pincer movement,
While he was stronger than the two on a one-on-two fight, the ghost boy had been exhausted by the day. And it was starting to show.
The fight would have been prolonged if someone hadn't blasted Spectra and Bertrand. The two were knocked into a billboard before falling asleep onto a roof. They looked as seeing The Red Huntress, who was as surly as ever to see them and Danny. Especially Danny.
"Oh great, I forgot about you," Spectra groaned as the Red Huntress flew down. Her palm cannons aimed at the knocked down ghost couple.
"You think you can waltz into town and do whatever you want?" Red Huntress asked. Her open palms glowed as she spoke.
Spectra and Bertrand looked at each other. While they were threatened by the teched-out girl, they couldn't help at laughing. It was mainly why most ghosts terrorized the town.
"What's so funny?"
"Foolish girl, that's the whole idea," the evil Spectra replied as Bertrand fired an ectoplasm. It knocked Red Huntress back, but it also made the girl mad. The ghosts flew up as Penelope flew around to the back of the huntress, swiping at her.
"I think someone needs to work on those athletics of theirs," The evil ghoul taunted, hitting her.
Valerie yelled as she flew forward. She checked her back for scratches and found none. While relieved, the attack fueled her anger more. This made the girl switch from long range to close combat.
"Take this, you spectral freaks!" She yelled as she charged in on her board. She went straight for Penelope, who dodged and playfully pushed the girl off her board.
While normally this would be the part where her board retrieves her, the huntress found herself in the arms of Danny, who put her back on the air.
"What do you think you're doing?" Valerie said.
"Ending this fight," Danny replied.
"And since when do I need your help?!" Valerie shouted. Though outnumbered, she saw no reason to trust, or even fight with, the ghost boy. And luckily, she didn't have to.
Penelope and Bertrand looked at the odds against them.
"Great, the pests are teaming up on us," Spectra said
"Then we'll just skedaddle and get them next time," Bertrand said as he turned back into a green gooey form. "We'll be sure to bother you and the other Spectra you know, next time."
The ghosts enjoyed ganging on Valerie, but they decided to turn tail and run once Danny joined. Twirling together, the ghost disappeared with a flash as Danny and Valerie covered their eyes. When they could see properly, neither one saw the ghostly duo anywhere. It was an understatement to detail how insulting it felt to the two. Valerie was seething at the prospect of a ghost getting away.
But she had other ideas on her mind. Not that she was ungrateful, but she didn't want Phantom to misunderstand her fighting with him.
"Now for that punk," The ghost huntress said.
The Red Huntress turned to find the ghost boy had vanished. She scanned the area but found no traces of the boy. Slamming her fist, the girl seethed at her perceived incompetence.
"One day, Phantom. One day."
The red huntress then left the area on her hoverboard, furious.
Danny emerged from his finding spot as soon as he saw the girl fly away. His phone buzzed an alert, startling the nervous ghost boy, but the news he received changed his attitude as he saw the ghost girl it was from. Spectra had finished some errands early and traveled to Amity Park to surprise Danny. She had a seat at the Fang Cafe already reserved for them.
Danny flew as fast as he could to the Fang Cafe. Well, fast enough where he could keep an even pace without breaking a sweat. He was on his way to see Spectra and didn't want to smell bad.
"Made it," Danny said as he leaned on the entrance. Before going in, he lifted his arm for a smell check. "And I don't reek. That's definitely a good sign...or is that backwards?"
The ghost boy walked inside, greeted by monsters who recognized him and the staff who had gotten used to him. Of course, the greeting he got from a certain ghoul was more enthusiastic than most.
"Danny," Spectra said as she waved. She floated over and greeted the boy with a hug as she guided him to the table. After a long day working on her paper, this was exactly what she wanted.
"Sorry I'm late, but the other Spectra decided to try and cut me off. I think she even used the Box Ghost as bait," Danny said.
Ms. Vondergeist frowned at hearing that name. It irked her greatly that one of her boyfriend's ghostly enemies had the same name as her. Not to mention how that same ghost, Penelope Spectra, once tried to drain the youth of the Monster High student body. Though she doubts the ghoulish ghost would ever appear at the school again. Of course, that didn't mean the good Spectra had issues with the evil one attempting to harm her boyfriend. But that would be for another day.
Right now, it was just her and Danny.
The two caught up as they recollected their past days. But as happy as they were to see each other again, the ghost girl had to address the elephant in the room.
"So, how's Sam?" Spectra asked.
Danny cringed a bit. He partially forgot about her in favor of ghost business that happened today.
"Still haven't gone near her, but she'll come around. Sam's not a bad person. It just takes a while to get to know her," Danny said.
Spectra thought about her encounter with Sam. The goth certainly showed how angry she was, but it was assumed she'd get over her feelings in a few days. Although Spectra didn't know Sam that well and right now, she didn't care.
"I hope your friend feels better," She said before changing the subject. "Why don't we get back her when things ghoul down? Come on, we're back at Fang Cafe. Let's enjoy ourselves. I already ordered screechza."
"Okay," Danny said as the ghoul took his hand.
Soon there sounds of laughter and joy filled the room as the two looked over to see a party. It seemed that some monster had turned another year and decided to celebrate at the Fang Cafe. The establishment was filled with festive with even a DJ and dance floor assembled, complete with a disco ball. The music echoed in the room with a chorus of ghoulish sounds. While he had never heard such melodies, Danny couldn't help finding it a bit enchanting.
He looked to Spectra, asking for a dance, and soon the two ghost teens hit the dance floor. Their order hadn't arrived, so they had time for something like this. . While the time at the maul was a bit tense, nobody bothers them or recognized Spectra with Danny. None of them must've seen them that day.
"You know I never took you much for a dancer," Spectra commented. She swayed slowly to the music.
"I'm still learning," Danny said with a nervous smile. His moves were more robotic compared, but it made the ghost girl laugh, which was enough for him.
The teens laughed and ate, enjoying their company as the hours went by. It had been another day like any other, though arguably Danny had it tougher with ghost fighting, and all they wanted to relax before the end of summer and school resumed. But while the teens played, someone couldn't keep their eyes away. From afar, another student of Monster High had entered the cafe earlier and couldn't help noticing Spectra. She had ignored the ghost girl at first but then noticed the company she waited for arriving, and that made things too juicy to ignore.
"Well, well, well, looks like someone found a nice ball to play with," the ghoul purred. She gave a sly grin as she watched the couple, anticipating her next moves. "This year's gonna be fun."
And Penelope Spectra makes an appearance. She'll be written as Penelope, Evil Spectra, or anything else to differentiate her from Danny's ghoulfriend Spectra(Special Thanks! to Flower Princess11 for the suggestion). Though This fic and Danny and Phantasma will be on hold for a bit as I work out the story to ensure they are different enough to enjoy. Though there will be similarities between them. Though I will still post the next few chapters of Danny and Phantasma when they are done. Enjoy the chapter and have a good day.
Special Thanks! to Flower Princess11 for all her help!
Reviews:
Invader Johnny: Yeah, Sam can get really jealous. And with the normie world, she's not gonna be friends with the monsters anytime soon.
Jebest4781: Thanks!
qazse: She'll have to learn that the hard way.
RonaldM40196867: Spectra wasn't calling Sam normal. She called her a normie. Sam just interpreted it that way. More movies? Not sure. I'm not exactly sure if a death battle between Danny and Ghostfreak would happen. Sounds a bit one-sided with the Omnitrix timer, unless you refer to Zs'Skayr.
pokemon fan 1991: Well, Sam's jealousy arc isn't over yet. Though I'll have to check with this universe's Deadpool about his appearance.
danifan3000: Any accomplishment can be used in differentiating one's self from others. Though with the vegan food, probably.
Major Simi: Thanks!
ghust95: Thanks!
Naruhaku96: I wouldn't say Sam was put in her place, more like told an observation.
gonzo22: She won't.
germanjustinian09: Ideas interesantes ...
Luiz4200: No. In the original fic, Spectra stated she had help with Ghoulia, which meant signing up online. More will be explained as the fic goes on.
William Escobar 608: 1) Prácticamente sí. 2) Difícil de decir. 3) ... 4) Y lo que es peor, tenía experiencia en el mundo de los monstrous.
DJ Rodriguez: Thanks!
Ironchef13(Guest): Perhaps...
Jay The Average Fanboy: 1) Yes. 2) I don't know if Hotel Transilvania will be included. A lot of crossovers are included already. SO, we'll have to wait for the answer. 3) Spectra is actually tech savvy. You'll see in later chapters.
