Sorry, I found a ton of spelling mistakes and had to fix them. Also polished some dialogue but nothing meaningful has been changed.
-The great gamer, I'm glad you like the way the mc is developing.
-kopol, Tobirama was killed by the gold and silver Brothers in the second war, and as for when uzushio fell well, I couldn't find a definitive answer for when other than it happening sometime after Kushina being born. If nothing else the timeline is about to get a monkey wrench thrown at its head anyways, so might as well just think of this as an au.
If anyone has any suggestions please leave them in the comments. I'm not much of a writer so I will appreciate any ideas to help keep the story moving along!
Anyway without further ado onto the story~
Ch.4 a lesson to learn
"Alright alright, quiet down class. I would like to welcome today's guest speakers Tamako Namikaze, Yusuke Otsuka and Tagumi Uzumaki." Suzuri's eyes widened when he saw who was speaking to the class. His otou-san, who he hadn't seen in weeks. Was standing in front of his class, and looked exhausted.
'He must have just returned from his mission and got roped into this. Poor otou-san! I'll give him the candy oka-san put in my bento if he sticks around for lunch, he looks like he earned something sweet. Oh man oka-san is going to be so happy! She's been really missing him these past few weeks.' As the class welcomed the speakers Suzuri's mind was racing faster than Kakoi usually talked.
"So who can tell me what the standard mission pack has in it?" Kashikoi asked his students, getting many to raise their hands to be called on. In preparation for the guests today he had gone over what was in the commonly issued mission packs throughout the lands of fire, water, and eddies.
"Let's go with you, Daiku." Kashikoi called on one of the quieter children in the back of the classroom.
"Y-yes sensei! You said each pack had three sets of clothes, a week's worth of dry rations, a basic first aid kit, a sewing kit, a bedroll, and a tool maintenance kit." The boy called off.
"Very good Daiku! You only forgot one thing. Can anyone tell me what it was? Myuya do you know?" Kashikoi happy that his student remembered so much, after a moment of students raising their hands he called on a girl towards the front of the class.
"I think it was either a spool of ninja wire or a rope." The girl answered with a smile.
"Rope is the answer I'm looking for. You see, rope is a universal tool whereas ninja wire is more circumstantial and is mostly carried by trap specialists and those of the Uchiha clan from Konoha." Kashikoi quickly informed his students.
"Now that we all know what is inside the standard mission pack, our guests here are going to tell us why those things are standard." The blond teacher turned the teaching Podium over to Tagami and the other two guest speakers.
"Well, most of the things are pretty self explanatory. For example most missions above 'D' rank go on for multiple days and you won't always have the time to scavenge for food. So having a change of clothes and dry ration bars is very important." Tamako spoke first with a far away look in her eyes. She had on simple tan yukata, with her hitai-ate tied on the front of a utility belt that had multiple pouches that look worn with use
"That's right I remember on one of my first C rank missions our team leader decided to take the long way back after we had cleared the mission objective, to avoid a Kiri outpost. It added an extra two days to our already week-long mission." The Otsuka man, Yusuke, spoke up next. He had a large build, common among those of his clan. He wore a sturdy looking brown coat that had the otsuka clan symbol on the left shoulder and the Uzumaki swirl on the right. Paired with black cargo pants and his blood red eyes he cut a very imposing figure.
"Then as though to spite us, we still almost ran into those sword crazy Kiri ninja. They would have found us 'if' we hadn't stopped and changed into fresh clothes along the way." Yusuke continued after a moment.
"Oh I remember that mission! We were collecting ink ingredients, when we got attacked by bandits, one those creeps slashed my thigh open. on the way back Ashina-sensei made us detour because there had a member of the Hoshigaki clan with them. Sheesh, I still have a scar from that cut" Tamako interjected, visibly cringing at the memories that the story brought back.
"Okay class can anyone tell me why running into someone of the Hosigaki clan with an injured teammate is bad? Let's go with you, Suzuri." Kashikoi took a moment to question the students, this time not many hands went up.
"It's because those are the sharkey clan, and have really stong noses right?" Suzuri remembered Kisame from the manga so when his class was going over the various clans of the land of water the Hosigake clan stood out the most.
"That's correct Suzuri! The Hoshigake clan and their sharks have a very strong sense of smell, especially when it comes to blood." Kashikoi said with a smile.
The rest of the day passed on much the same with one of the three guest ninja (mostly from Tamako and Yusuke) recalling missions where the standard supplies got them out of a close call, or would have if they packed properly.
When it was time for lunch all the Students except Suzuri went out to the yard. Instead Suzuri went to the desk Tegumi was starting to doze on and unwrapped his bento.
The bento in question was packed with panko covered white fish, over vegetable rice with strawberries and kiwi slices on the side with three orange filled daifuku.
"Otou-san, here have some of the daifuku that oka-san packed for me. You look like you need the sugar more than I do." Just as he had planned at the beginning of class Suzuri offered Tegumi his desert earning him a tired smile from him.
"Thank you Suzuri-kun, I don't think I've gotten a proper night's sleep since the night before I left." Tegumi said taking one of the offered daifuku.
'This "waste of time" as Tomoko put it was so worth it, oh how I've missed Sumi's treats!' Tegumi thought to himself while taking a bite of the sweet confection.
"So otou-san have you gone to see oka-san yet? I know she had something she really wanted to talk to you about. She's been all worried waiting for you the past week." Suzuri asked his father
Indeed over the past week and a half Sumi Uzumaki had been doing every stress relieving activity she could think of whenever she thought Suzuri wasn't looking. She had made more brushes then the storage seal she usually used for extra stock could hold, made so much mochi that Suzuri had enough for his class and the next, and then she decided to clean the house to the point that he couldn't look at the wooden floors in the morning because they now reflected the early sun like a mirror.
"Not yet, I'm technically not finished with my mission yet but hopefully I will be soon. Anyway, tell me how have you been enjoying the academy so far? Last I've seen of you I had been asking if you wanted to attend." Tegumi asked his only son. Sure he was curious as to what had his wife so anxious, but she knew where he was if she needed to talk about something urgent. He had made sure to send a message from the clan head office the morning after he left.
"It's not bad, kinda boring though. For a place called the ninja academy there aren't very many exciting things." Suzuri responded with a pout.
"Heheh, trust me when I say boring is good. Besides you need to know the boring things so that you can know what to do when exciting things happen."Tegumi chuckled out. Father and son sat in a comfortable quiet as the former quickly ate his lunch. The pair just enjoying the moment.
"Ah, there you are Suzuri-kun! You gotta come outside, Tamako-nae is going to show some jutsu!" Kakoi came running into the classroom with an excited smile plastered on his face.
"Oh wow really, I'm coming right now!" Suzuri exclaimed quickly, shoving the last kiwi slice into his mouth. Hopping out of his chair and running to the door.
'Ah, I suppose I might as well join them. Besides, I can't have my teammates showing me up!' Tagami mused as he followed his son outside to the school yard.
The view he was met with once he reached the door, of his blonde teammate using chara stings to pick up kids and the other using an A rank earth moulding jutsu to make little figurines would have been comical, if he hadn't also seen a messenger running full tilt toward the school.
"Tegumi-sama, I have information that needs your immediate attention." Straight and to the point, the messenger called out to him, stopping at the academy gate.
"Alrighty then, sorry kids but looks like we've got a mission." With a look to his teammates and a glance at his son the three adults moved to leave the school yard.
"So what's the situation?" Yusuke asked as they left the school grounds at a sprint.
"There are a group of at least two hundred and fifty kumo nin approaching from the north and at least fifty kiri nin have been spotted appearing for what might be an attack half a day to the east. It is unknown if any of the seven swordsmen are with the group. Also according to the sensors the kumo group may have one of their jinchuuriki included." The messenger answered with no hesitation.
"If the sensors say there might be a jinchuuriki then we act like there is. Tell the Uzumaki chain core to prepare for deployment. Are the Eddie seals already active? If not have them activated. Order all ships to either return to port or change course away from the village. Have the coastline market close for the day tell them we're expecting an attack, if anyone takes issue with that tell them it's an order from the clan heads office." Tegumi quickly took charge of the situation, any fatigue being shed from his body as chakra and worry flooded in.
"If I remember correctly the 'hachiri no akuma ga tate ni chokumen shita' are finished being repaired from the last attack. Not to mention the new 'Rashomon' seals that you and Ashina-sama finished a few months ago. We should be able to defend ourselves for a good while while they tire themselves out." Yusuke offered.
"Very true, that said we can never be to careful. It could be that Kumo is just testing our defenses while Kiri watches. Or they could be working together. We don't have enough information. Tell all battle-fit chuunin, tokubetsu-jounin and jounin to start preparing themselves and their squads for a fight. Have half of them gather at the north coast and half of the rest go to the east the rest are to be ready to back up either front." Tegami ordered the messenger as he entered the clan head office. Waiting for him there were two older men who gave off a presence similar to Ashina. They were the other two Clan heads that lead Uzushiogakure.
Gyouja Namikaze, clan head of the Namikaze clan was a tall man with a thin frame. His once golden hair streaked with silver. He wore a black long coat that had the Namikaze clan sigil on the back and had multiple pockets on the chest and waist. Underneath it he wore a tan flack jacket and navy blue cargo pants with standard sandals and wrappings.
Kurochi Otsuka, clan head of the Otsuka clan was the tallest man tegumi had ever seen. He could easily be mistaken for a member of the raikage's family if not for his blood red eyes. With broad shoulders and strong muscles he wore a closed tan flak vest leaving his arms bare to show off the impressive tattoo of the Otsuka clan sigil on his right shoulder and the Uzumaki on the left. Along with grey green cargo shorts and mesh wrappings around his shins. Unlike most he wore wooden sandals.
"Your late Tegumi, I assume you've been informed of what's going on." Gyouja said with a huff.
"Yes, Gyouja-sama. Do we know what gave them the courage to try this approach?" Tegumi asked, stopping at a table that had a map of the island.
"We're not sure, but we think it might have to do with Ashina-sama's absence." Kurochi states with a gruff voice.
"Hmm, well then...why don't we make them think he's returned?" Tamako interjected.
"Honestly if they think us helpless without him we might as well go for the easy ruse. At worst they'll underestimate us more than they already are." Tagumi reasoned out.
"Alright, how do you suggest we make it look convincing? If they know he's out of the village then it won't do to just have him appear in town or on the coast." Yusuke asked his teammate.
"We still have the 'flying raijin' template that Tobirama same came to us with right? Tagumi could henge into Ashina-sama, then…" Tamako's voice petered out as Tagami unsealed a notebook from his wrist.
"That's not a bad idea Tama-chan! Before Ashina-sama left for Konoha I had been working on my own variant of my late cousin's technique, but I couldn't figure out how Tobirama managed to get the transfer of mass so quiet. If we want a flashy entrance though what better than a bang." Tagumi wasted no time in producing two of his prototype 'flying raijin' seals from the book.
"While that's impressive, if they don't see you move from the mainland to the island it's just going to look like a loud shunshin. That said do you really expect a bunch of kumo nin to not only know about the technique but who helped develop it? Lets just focus on shoring our defenses and preparing for battle." Gyouja said in a stern tone.
"If you want to make them think that Ashina-dono is here then you should just get some of your cousins and activate the adamantine chain shield. It would be more reliable than a technique the enemy might not recognize." Gyakuze proposed after a silence fell over the room.
"How far away are the fools from kumo?" Tagumi asked with a glint in his eye.
"According to the lighthouse they are still a couple hours out from reaching the eddies." Kurochi answered.
"Then how about this..."

It was near sunset when the kumo ninja made it past the eddies that gave Uzushio its name. Though dangerous to civilian ships with some chakra and liberal use of wind jutsu it did little more than slow them down. They disembarked from their boats near the coast when a crack of lightning split the sky and struck the beach, kicking up a plume of sand.
Once the obstructing Cloud cleared, there standing on the beach with no emotion on his face was the leader of Uzushiogakure, the man whose ability for war was legendary enough to have his island home named a nation. Ashina Uzumaki stood on the shore, flanked on both sides by dozens of ninja who wore uzushio's hitai-ate. Most recognizable among them was the equally feared Gyouja Namikaze, a master of steam release and was said to have dueled with the second Raikage evenly, and Kurochi Otsuka whose mastery of raidon was legendary.
"So children, tell me, why have you come to our home without an invitation? Does the Raikage order this" The once red haired, living legend spoke in a deep rumble imbuing no small amount of killing intent into his words.
"We've come to see if the tales of your home are true. They say nothing but weak researchers and muscle brained idiots live here." A man who wore the standard Kumogakure outfit, with the white single strap body armor and the white and red shin guards.
"Oh? 'They' must have forgotten why we stand alone, here let me remind you!" With a simple wave of his hand dozens of chakra chains sprouted from the beach and flew towards the invaders, quickly gabbing and crushing some of the slower invaders.
The mountain dwellers scattered as snake like chains pushed them back towards their vessels. Some attempted to counter the chains with weapons and various jutsu only to be caught like mice and shoved under the water never to resurface. The few who maneuvered through the chains and made it to the beach were met with a minefield of explosive notes. The fewer who managed to get close to the defendeing force were then faced with the true challenge, angry shinobi. It wasn't long until the force of over two hundred was cut down by more than half.
"You disappoint me, if Kumogakure is so over populated that the Raikage sends children like you just to die a dog's death, then he should consider just killing you himself. Or is it that he thought us so feeble that you would be enough to handle the job?" The legendary ninja taunted as he watched the battle.

Alrighty so here is the first part of the fight. along with some school time I was going to keep going but I realized that the chapter was already way too long. On the bright side I should have the next chapter ready soon!
Anyway I'll keep my rambling to a minimum this time if you see any errors plesae mention them in the comments and I'll try to fix them when I can.
