On One Condition

Darcy proposes to Elizabeth. She is willing to accept him but on one condition. I am glad some of you liked the first one. I nearly did not post that as I felt it had a tinge of sadness instead of my usual snarky shorts. Yes, it could be seen as silly or cheeky too. I originally had 4 standalone shorts but this “Saving Jane” snowballed unexpectedly. What do I do with the other 3?

"Yes, Fitzwilliam."

"How? When did you know?"

"I do not know the exact moment. It came on gradually. You readily confessed your mistake to Charles. I admire your devotion to Georgiana and appreciate your impossible patience with my sisters. You endure mama's incessant pestering. And since your proposal, you have always been gentlemanly and considerate."

"Please do not remind me of my horrible proposal."

"There was some truth in what you said… about my family."

"My arrogance was inexcusable though. Soon we will become one family, Elizabeth."

"One big, ridiculous family."

"The more, the merrier."
