Inside a broken, rundown down house in the middle of a forest, a magic portal had manifested out of assuming thin air.
A few seconds later, something or to be a bit more accurate, someone suddenly shot out of it as she landed on the floor rather roughly.
"Ow!" Amity said as she rubbed her face a bit to the pain of her rather... not graceful landing.
Getting up, the teen witch took a moment to dust herself off. As she was doing so, she began to look around to find out where on Titan's corpse she is.
Judging by the moss on the support beams and the cobwebs decorating the corners of the walls from top to bottom and the amount of dust that was in the place, it figured out to the Blight girl that she was in a house that was on the verge of being condemned by whatever landlord was going to condemn it and with good reason by the looks of it.
Amity shook her head in order to refocus herself. Now wasn't the time to be judgmental about the conditions of the broken down house that she landed in.
"I can't get distracted now, I need to find Luz's mom as quickly and get back to the Boiling Isles as soon as possible." The witch thought to herself.
Looking over, she saw the door to the house was slightly cracked opened, allowing some sunlight to shine through the wooden entrance.
Amity wasted no time in running towards the door and forcing it open. When she did, the sun immediately shined into her eyes, causing the young girl to let out a scream of pain as she quickly shut her eyes closed to block out the light of the star.
After waiting a few seconds, Amity blinked a few times to adjust her eyeballs to her crush's world's skylight.
Finally ready, Amity stepped through the door... while being careful not to look directly into the sun.
Running through the forest as fast as she could, the teen witch stopped as she stared in awe at the new world she now found herself in complete and utter awe as she stopped on the sidewalk.
"Wow, so this is what the human world looks like?" She asked herself before she began to walk around the neighbor rather hesitantly. "Okay, I got to make I don't get totally lost here so..." She then closed her eyes before taking a deep breath before she let the magic flow through her whole body to both of her index fingers on both of her hands as blue colored magic appeared on the tip of the witch's fingernails before she then squatted down and touched the tip of her boots as the magic made them glow for a few seconds before it vanished.
"Let's hope this spell can last long." The witch muttered to herself.
She took a few steps forward before she looked behind her, there were blue footprints that manifested on the concrete behind her. "So far, so good."
Amity then took a few more steps to test the spell she cast on her feet. Looking behind herself, she saw the tracks from her feet. "Alright, let's do this."
With that, the teen witch began to run down the sidewalk before she turned right as houses passed by her...
4 Hours Later...
"Ms. Noceda!" Amity called out to the streets using her hands like a megaphone type of way for like the millionth time as she crossed a street with traffic there stopped some cars at the stoplight.
The teen was getting tired as she took a moment to rest her hand against a in front of a building.
"Jeez, I should've asked Luz where her mother was or where she worked at anytime before I came here?" The witch said to herself.
"Excuse me?" a new voice said from behind the teen girl.
Amity let out a small yelp as she turned around and was seconds away from pointing her finger and lighting the person on fire only for her to stop when she realized who it was.
It was an adult woman who has dark brown hair tied in a bun and tan skin. Her bangs tuft up similarly to how Luz's do. She wears glasses with a thick red frame on the top and was wearing gray studded earrings. She was also wearing a light blue health care worker uniform.
"I couldn't help but overhear that you were looking for me." the adult woman said.
Amity was shocked at what she just heard. This rather pudgy woman was the mother of her crush? She couldn't believe that after 4 hours of her fruitless search through the human girl that she had feelings for, it finally paid off.
"You're L-L-Luz's MOTHER?!" Amity shouted in a incredibly high pitched tone as her face turned beet red.
Ms. Noceda was a bit shocked at the question before answering. "Why yes I am, and who might you be, dear?"
Amity took a deep breath to calm her nerves as the blushes receded to her cheeks before replying in a shaky tone. "I'm A-Amity. I need to tell you something really, really important. It's about Luz."
"Luz?!" The mother then became worried as she gently yet firmly grabbed the witch's shoulders. "Is she okay at camp?!"
"Oh that's right, her mother thinks that Luz is at this "Summer Camp" thing..." The teen thought to herself.
The young girl was brought back into reality when Luz's mother spoke once more as she let go of her shoulders.
"Whoa, what happened to your ears?" The health care worker asked as she gently touched the tips of the witch's pointy ears. "Wait, are these real? They feel real."
"Y-Yeah, they're real." Amity said, "I-I'm a witch."
"A witch?" Ms. Noceda said in shock. "Wait, so if you're a witch, Does that mean that magic is real?"
"Well..." Amity looked to the side for a bit before answering. "In the world that I come from it does."
"Your world?" The woman asked in confusion. "Wait, you're seriously from another world?"
"Well yes, that's..." Amity clenched the front of her uniform tightly as she forced herself to continue. "That's where your daughter has been staying." Amity reluctantly admitted to the mother of her crush.
"QUE?!" Camila shouted in Spanish causing the teen witch to cover her ears before the human then spoke in the language that Amity understood. "Was she kidnapped?!" She then narrowed her eyes at the teen witch, causing her to stumble back a bit. "Did you kidnap her?!"
"Oh no, no, no! It's not like that!" Amity said defensively as she waved her hands in a defensive manner just in case the human tried attack her. "I would never do that! She chose to stay!"
"Wait, she did? Why?" The adult woman asked.
Amity looked around and saw some people staring at her and Ms. Noceda, having this kind of attention on her felt rather unnerving.
Camila, noticing the rather nervous look on Amity's face, turn around and saw that a majority of people staring at her and the teen from another dimension staring at them in confusion.
"Please go on about your day everyone, nothing to see here." She said to the crowd and after a few seconds the crowd slowly began to disperse. Turning back at Amity, the health care worker sighed a bit to calm her nerves. "Listen, Amity. Why don't we go back to my place and you can tell me everything there? Afterwards we go to your world and find my daughter? How does that sound?"
"Really good right about now!" Amity said, once again using a high pitched voice.
Ms. Noceda covered her mouth with her hand as she tried to suppress the amount of giggles bubbling up in her throat.
As the two ladies walked back to the Noceda house, Camila decided to be the first one to start up a conversation. "So Amity?"
"Ye-Yes?" Amity stuttered a bit while still letting the human woman that she had her attention.
"So, I know I should've asked this earlier but how is it that you came to know about my daughter when she... came into "your world"?" Luz's mother asked, air quoting the words "your world" with her fingers.
Amity thought of how to answer that without freaking the adult human out too much, but as she looked back up at the adult woman, who was waiting for an answer, she mentally sighed to herself, knowing if the two of them were going to save Luz from petrification, the Blight girl knew she had to tell her crush's mother everything that her daughter did (with Amity at least being there to witness it or hearing about it afterwards from one of her friends), no matter how much it pained her to tell Camila about her daughter's exploits on the Boiling Isles without Luz's permission.
"I'm sorry Luz, but it's the only way." Amity thought to herself before finally spoke once more. "Before I tell you anything, I just want you to know that I'm not sure if Luz would even want me to tell you any of what I'm about to tell you Ms. Noceda, but considering that Luz isn't here and considering the fact that I probably don't have a choice but to tell you, I just want you to know that."
Camila nodded as she laid a hand on the witch's shoulder. "Amity, you shouldn't like you don't have a choice in what you should and shouldn't tell me. If you feel a subject concerning you and my daughter is too much for you to tell me about, then you don't have to tell me. Just say what you're comfortable with, okay?"
Amity blushed a bit as she appreciated the kindness of Luz's mother's words as she smiled a bit. "T-Thank you, Mrs. Noceda. I appreciate that."
"Anytime, but please, call me Camila." The nurse said.
Amity, now having that mental weight lifted from her mind, decided to inform the human mother of some of the things her daughter when the two first met. "Well, me and Luz didn't exactly make rather good first impressions when we first met."
"Really?" Camila said. "Luz must've made quite the impact on your day."
"Well, I didn't even know what she was when I realized she was masquerading as a fellow student named Willow as her abomination project." Amity revealed.
"Abomination?" Camila asked in confusion.
"It's one of the subjects that the teachers at Hexside, the school that teaches magic to us and the school Luz, myself and many other kind of students attend." Amity said. "Your daughter can make quite the impact on the people in her life, her adventures on Isles can prove that."
"I can agree to that." Camila said as she remember the multiple times that Luz's passion for weirdness and fantasy had gotten her into trouble. "I just sometimes wish that she could rein her urges in. I love my daughter, I really do, but sometimes, she can unintentionally cause trouble for those around her with her love of fantasy, that's why no one is friends with her here in my world. To be honest, that's there lost."
"I can agree, Camila. Luz can be rather impulsive when she's on the Isles, especially when it comes to try to become a witch." Amity said, knowing what the adult human was saying as she remembered the times where Luz's impulsiveness can sometimes make things worse before they got better.
"My daughter's trying to become a witch?!" Camila said in surprise as her eyes widened upon hearing that.
"Yeah..." Amity giggled a bit. "That was my reaction when I saw Luz at a Convention that we were at. I underestimated your daughter, at the time, I was still mad that she got me in trouble for the whole abomination incident. She challenged me to a witch's duel, despite knowing a light spell."
"You hurt my daughter?!" Camila shouted in a justified anger as she roughly grabbed the witch by the arm. "Cause if you did, I swear I'm gonna-"
"Wait, wait, wait, Camila!" Amity begged as she tried to get out of the human mother's iron grip but was failing to do so. "I didn't hurt your daughter, I swear! I didn't even get the chance to! Luz's teacher, Eda, set traps on the arena floor for my abomination to trigger! Luz was fine by the end of it!"
Hearing this caused Camila to calm down a bit as released Amity's arm. "That's a relief. Sorry about that Amity, I shouldn't have grabbed you like that."
"No, no, it's fine." Amity said honestly. "To be honest, I kinda deserved it." She then shook her head to get back on topic. "Anyway, it was after the duel that Luz made me realized that, maybe that their was some potential in her as a witch after all."
"Really, wow I'm glad that Luz was able to get through to you." Camila said.
Well, yes. But it took a while for her to do so. Both as a witch and as a person." Amity admitted as she continued to list off her crush's accomplishments, one by one. "She alongside Willow and another friend of mine Gus brought the Owl house to life during a moonlight conjuring-"
"Sorry to interrupt, but what's a moonlight conjuring?" Camila asked, interrupting the witch.
"It's a once a year thing in my world where it's kinda like one of those "slumber parties" that your daughter compared it to." Amity revealed. "But the moon aglines itself with some other celestial bodies that maximizes the moon's magic. To use it, three or more witches have to form a circle around whatever object they want to bring to life. And I guess that you can figure out what happened next."
"Oh, wow." was all Camila could. "My daughter animated a house? That has to be some impressive magic."
"Yeah, that's what I thought to when I saw itself myself."The green haired witch admitted. "I think it wasn't until the library incident that I officially saw as something more than "just a trouble making human"." She said as she instantly said. "N-No offense, Camila!"
"None taken dear." The human woman reassured her. "What library incident?"
"Well, to make a long story short. Luz really wanted to be my friend, but I wasn't willing to give her a chance as I was still on the fence about her. When I refused to be her because I didn't trust her at the time, my older siblings E-Edric and E-Emira..." Amity stopped for a moment as tears began to well up in her eyes before she wiped them away with her arm. "P-peer pressured her into having her commit mischief with them. It all came to a head when they found my secret hideaway in the library, read my diary and brought the characters from various books to life, literally."
"Okay, your siblings I can get reading your diary, but there's no way that my Luz would do such a thing." Camila denied.
"Well, Luz told me that Edric and Emira were planning on posting some of my diary entries around Hexside because I told on them." Amity said. "That's when I came into the library and found them in there. I confronted the two of them for their whole prank."
"Did they post your diary entries?" Camila couldn't help but ask.
"No, after one of the book's characters nearly stitched me and Luz into one of their books. Once I got home, I confronted the two for the whole ordeal. While they didn't go through with their prank, they apologized for what me and Luz had to go through because of them and decided to be nice and protective of me to make up for it. So I didn't tell mom and dad." Amity said as tears begin to well up in her eyes once again but she didn't stop them this time. "You know it's funny, for the longest time I always thought my siblings were just annoying and got away with it. Now that I look back on it, I should've appreciated the two of them more." Tears began to run down the Blight's face, concerning the doctor greatly.
"Amity?" Camila began gently. "Did... Did something happened before you got here?"
"You could say that..." Amity said, nervously. "Getting here was a challenge, so can we please get back on topic?"
Camila nodded, letting the witch continue. "Then we to this mountain called the Knee to train our spells because Luz wanted to enroll at Hexside but she had to learn two spell in order to avoid being enroll into the baby class. Amity heard Camila attempting to not burst out laughing, so she chose to ignore it. "Long story, after a fight with monster residing there, your daughter managed to learn a second spell and after a rather disastrous showing of her magic, she managed to get in." She began to blush a bit. "After thinking back on everything me and her went through, I began seeing her in a different light."
"What kind of light?" The health care worker asked.
The completely redness on Amity's face was the only answer she was given.
"Ooooh!" Camila said in her mind as she then smirked a bit before saying to Amity. "Are you crushing on my hija?"
Amity, deciding not be a stuttering mess, simply nodded before saying. "I'm in love with her, but I really tell her that without stuttering and running off. That's another reason why I came here to get you."
"Well, what would you need my help with aside from trying to figure out how to confess to Luz?" Luz's mother asked in concern. "I can tell it's more then just relationship advice."
Taking a deep breath, Amity told her what happened. "Luz is on trial."
"QUE?!" The Hispanic woman shouted in surprise. "¿Qué quieres decir con que Luz está en juicio?"
"She went to trail with the Emperor to save one of her friends!" Amity said quickly, as held up her arms in defense.
Hearing that made Camila calm down a little as confusion set in. "Wh-What are the stakes for the trial?"
"Well, if Luz wins, the Emperor has let King (Luz's friend that I mentioned before) and un-petrify the witches that he has in his lair." Amity explained.
"Un-petrify?" Camila said, confused.
"Frozen in stone." Amity admitted nervously. "And Luz will suffer the same fate if she loses the trial."
Camila's eyes widened in shock before shouting in her native. "¿Qué? ¡¿Por qué no dijiste eso antes ?! ¡Lleguemos antes de que sea demasiado tarde!" She then grabbed Amity's arm and began to run as fast as they could to the Noceda house.
"Wait, I don't think that we can get back?!" Amity said as she was dragged by her arm by the human.
"Why?" Camila asked.
"Getting here was difficult, getting back is going to be even more difficult." Amity said.
"You're saying it's a one way trip?" The human asked.
"I don't think so, it's just going to be difficult to find an entrance, the Boiling Isles is in another dimension, finding out how to get there is hard. I think Luz stumbled onto it by chance."
Before Camila could tell the witch of how completely ridiculous that sounds, unbeknownst to the two females, a surge of yellow magic manifested into the human world in the form of a medium-sized, flashing, circular, portal into the sidewalk in front of the two, causing them to fall straight down into it.
"AAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!" The two females screamed as they fell straight through the portal as they held onto each other just case.
"IS THIS HOW WITCHES TRAVEL FROM THE ISLES?!" Camila asked as she stopped screaming.
"WELL, THAT"S HOW LUZ'S TEACHER DID IT!" Amity shouted. "I REMEMBER LUZ TELLING ME THAT THINGS LIKE THAT PORTAL WERE A RESULT OF SOME OF MY WORLD LEAKING INTO YOURS! AND I THINK SHE REMEMBERED SAYING THAT YOUR MYTHS ARE WHERE THEY COME FROM LIKE GRIFFINS, VAMPIRES AND EVEN GIRAFFES!"
"OKAY, VAMPIRES AND GRIFFINS I GET! BUT WHY GIRAFFES?!" Camila loudly asked.
"THEY WERE BEING A BUNCH OF FREAKS! SO MY KIND CHOSE TO BANISH THEM TO YOUR WORLD!" Amity shouted. "SO PREPARE YOURSELF FOR MY WORLD!"
The light at the end of the portal shined brightly signaling the end of their travel through it.
"Hang on, mija!" Camila shouted. "Mami's coming to the rescue!"
"And your fe-fearless cha-champion is coming as well to co-confess her lo-love for yo-you!" Amity shouted, while mentally slapping herself in her head for actually saying that while to herself. "I can't believe I actually said that with someone with me!"
A light shined into their eyes, causing the two to close their eyes.
