Author's Note: Sorry for the gap in chapter uploads. I had to study for school tests and other personal things. I did thoroughly enjoy writing this chapter and enjoy the characters it introduces. Some of the grammar might be incorrect, but I think I corrected all of it. This chapter is also more talking than actual fighting so that's that. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy!
"What do you mean a Stand Arrow? What would that even mean, an arrow that just magically grants stands or something? I thought people just had stands, you know like having red hair or allergies?
Shizuka sighed, her father had told her this information and she tried to express it without being too complex, "A stand arrow is exactly like you described it. There are a bunch of ways to gain a stand and an arrow is one. Your father's stand could take away and give stands. Some people, like me and you, are born with stands, but most are punctured by stand arrows, or one of the members of their families were."
Jody thought for a second, "Oh I get it, Achtung BABY, that's funny."
Shizuka chuckled slowly, even after her information dump he still didn't take anything seriously, "Yeah, I guess it is a really clever name."
"Wait, Doesn't that mean that Isabella is a stand user now? If she is and your theory about the stand users are correct, do you trust her enough to tell her about Achtung Baby and my Sweet Dreams? Just revealing our abilities could be dangerous, we only have you as a heavy hitter. I've been thinking, all of our abilities could be easily thwarted by simple planning. Vincent needs to see things, I need the element of surprise and you could be seen with thermal vision. How would we figure out if Isabella is an ally?"
"I could help."
Vincent was back in the living room, "Digital Witness analyzes data like a computer, if I could watch her face while you questioned her I could see if she was lying. I've spent quite a bit of time just watching people during my free period, I can be a makeshift lie detector." He looked down, pretending to be analyzing the floor as Shizuka thought.
"I think we should just wait, Jody, since your stand is the most inconspicuous out of all of ours just have a single Sweet Dreams bug be next to her, maybe crawl on her or something. A regular person wouldn't notice, so if she does we know she's a stand user."
"That's a pretty good idea," Jody said. He raised up his hand and a single Sweet Dreams bug phased out of the tip of his finger, "I'll give you this one. If you have a class together you can slip it by her and see if she notices then just tell Vincent and he'll do his lie detector computer thing.
Shizuka nodded once, "Great I'll do that first thing tomorrow."
"It's Friday remember, no school tomorrow. And even if there was no way, you really shouldn't, I know I don't have any authority over what you do, but with injuries as bad as that you probably shouldn't be going to school. I know a lot of those are just stab wounds and open cuts, but even that seems like a lot when you have multiple. You can't really stay inconspicuous with bandages everywhere. You don't have to stay here but you need to rest somewhere."
Shizuka sighed again, she knew he was right, "I could ask the Speedwagon Foundation to give me medical attention."
"Ok, I'll help you get back to your hotel if you want."
"No, I can make it back myself. I have to get used to these injuries anyways."
Jody nodded and helped Shizuka off of the table, which wasn't very difficult, though some bandaids fell of, even though the were bandaged very well. After walking around in the living room for a while Shizuka got used to her new state of injuries and she slowly, but steadily, walked out of the dorm room.
Jody and Vincent were alone once more in their dorm room, neither said anything to each other, with the situation still hanging in the air. Even with the cold tension, Jody decided to be an explorer and break the ice.
"So, Vincent even with these things going on you still wanna watch anime right? I mean I promised we would do it every Friday and it is a Friday, so? Then we can go to the school's baseball game tomorrow." Jody turned on the TV and it opened on an anime streaming website. "We can start My Hero Academia or we can continue watching My Neighbor Totoro, which one do you wanna watch?"
"I think I wanna start My Hero Academia, I read the first few chapters of the manga online and saw some reviews of it, seems ok."
Jody smiled then opened up his favorite anime streaming service, searching through the catalog of shows. He selected My Hero Academia then looked over at Vincent, "I think we have some microwave popcorn in the pantry, there might also be some gushers in there too, you'll have to mess with the microwave though, I think something happened to it."
Vincent slowly shuffled towards the microwave and stopped in front of it. "Digital Witness", he whispered and an advanced-looking VR headset appeared on his head. It covered his eyes and phased through his glasses, it had a small visor on its front, glowing a dark green as it scanned the microwave. He saw holographic displays of the power levels in the outlets and small details on the countertop. He stared at the microwave, raised his hand then smacked it as hard as he could on the top of its door. It sparked once and the lights flashed.
"Seems like someone messed around with it while I wasn't here, Jody you know this microwave cost us 50 dollars, we can't afford another one if this breaks. I wouldn't put another butter sandwich in here again."
"How did you know about my butter sandwich?", Jody said as Digital Witness faded away and Jody was looking directly into Vincent's eyes. After waiting for the popcorn to finish cooking Vincent walked over to Jody, who had found two blankets, that were scratchy at best and practically nothing at best. Vincent sat on one of the two plastic fold-out chairs in the room, with Jody occupying the other one. As the opening monologue started Jody flicked a popcorn kernel at the light switch, turning them off and setting the mood.
Jody and Vincent woke up contorted, having fallen asleep in their chairs. Jody looked at the cheap plastic analog clock on the wall, it was almost time for the school's baseball game, it was taking place at a decently large field a ways away from the school.
"Hey Vincent, when does the baseball game start?", Jody said groggily, half awake and half still asleep.
Vincent, who had just woken up as well, "I think in about 45, no 46 minutes."
"And how long does it take to get to the stadium, or wherever they're playing at?"
"About an hour."
Both of the boys' eyes shot open as the realization dawned on them, neither had a car and Jody was barely in shape, Vincent being even worse. Both boys jumped out of their chairs, thumping on the ground. They scrambled towards their rooms, slamming their doors and trying to change as fast as they could into clothes that weren't dirty.
After a while, Vincent burst out of the room with his prescription glasses and a gray T-shirt that has a bad math joker, with his signature blue sandals with cyan stripes on their bottoms. He was also wearing some black sweat pants, his phone nearly falling out of his delicate hands. Jody burst out of his room wearing a pink tank top, with a jacket over it. He was wearing shorts and some colorful shoes. Both of them booked it to the front door, grabbing their wallets on the way out.
Digital Witness was on Vincent's face, "Ok Jody if we run while some of the cars are in traffic and grab an uber when there isn't any then we might be able to catch the game in time."
"Ok, so we can make it, phew."
Jody had to slow down to accommodate Vincent, "Dude, I'm gonna see if I can scout ahead and see where traffic ends ok? I'll make sure that we can for sure not miss the first pitches."
Vincent was sweating bullets and wheezing as he ran "gasp wheeze Sure Jody, cough sure you can run ahead, I'm just going to stop here for a second, go ahead."
Jody sprinted ahead, he turned around and saw Vincent start walking, moving into a small jog. Eventually, after Jody looked back a few more times he could no longer see Vincent behind him. While he was looking back he bumped into a girl. Both of them landed on the ground, Jody scraping his knee against the sidewalk, it seeing with fiery pain.
"Oh, I'm sorry, my bad. I'm kinda in a rush."
Jody looked at the person he bumped into, it was a girl with blue hair and light makeup, she had some eyeliner and yellow lipstick. She had a dark blue baseball uniform with white baseball pants. Her shoes seemed to be white, covered in black paint, splotches dotted around them, they looked like the skin of a cow.
"Wait, aren't you on our school's baseball team? Shouldn't you be at the game practicing or something!?"
The stranger looked Jody in the eyes and grabbed his hand to help stand herself up, to his slight protest. Her hands were somehow soft and coarse simultaneously. Once she was fully stood up Jody could see she was shorter than him but seemed older than he had initially thought, in her mid-twenties very intimidating. He shook his hand out of her grasp.
"Again I'm sorry, I'm in a rush to see, well, your game actually. You'd better start moving fast if you wanna make it!"
Jody lightly pushed the woman away, not trying to harm her, she was still looking directly at him, chilling him to his core. Even when he turned around and continued running he could still feel her gaze, burning a small hole into the back of his head.
"What a weirdo."
Jody watched as a black car drove by him and screeching to a halt. As Jody looked at the car more he saw an Uber sign on the top of it. He jumped towards the back door of the car as it swung open, revealing Vincent sitting on the other side. Jody had accurately jumped, sliding into landing on the seat, and swiftly closed the door as the car sped down the street.
"Hey Jody", Vincent said, the excitement of being late draining from his voice, "I saw you bump into Coach Tabitha back there, she seemed frazzled when you pushed her away to start running."
"Coach Tabitha? How do you know her name, Vincent?"
One of Vincent's eyebrows raised slightly, barely noticeable. "You don't know her? She was like the star pitcher on the school baseball team a decade ago? She got her teaching license and came back to coach the girl's baseball team? She's super mean and taunts the other team before they start playing. How do you not know her name, I heard people say she's just incredibly proud of our school, I don't buy it?"
"Hey, I'm here because you wanted to watch the game, unless she has an Uber like we do or a ride then she's not going to make the game."
Vincent looked down, staring at the carpet stains on the floor, "About that, turns our clocks were about an hour forward, so we didn't need to rush out of the dorm to make it here, the game doesn't start for another hour."
Vincent was clutching the seats of the car incredibly tightly as if waiting for Jody to berate him for the mistake, "Oh, that sucks then. At least now we can get hotdogs without worrying about missing the game. I think I want ketchup on mine, do you wanna get anything extra on yours?" Jody smiled at Vincent, who stared for a while then pulled out his phone to start scrolling through his social media. The Uber stopped at the field, with Jody and Vincent stepping out. Some people were waiting around, waiting for the game to start. Jody mentioned to Vincent,
"Since we have time we can mess around and split up, I'll see you in the stands in a few minutes."
Vincent nodded as Jody jogged away. He patted his pockets, reassuring himself that his phone and wallet were still in his pockets, they were. He pulled out his phone, its screen was cracked and it was an older model, still working fine enough. It was only ever used to call, text, or look things up online, though Vincent usually used his phone to do that. Jody walked under the bleachers, mainly exploring what was under the stands. Some of the bolts were rumbling, and Jody saw other people sitting under the bleachers. Most were making out, but he avoided them as he walked.
"I should check if Shizuka is doing ok, her wounds did seem kinda bad."
Jody pulled out his phone and opened his contact list, realizing he hadn't even asked for her number. He shrugged, thinking that she would probably be resting as he advised. He continued exploring the underbelly of the seats, scanning the ceiling above him, there was lots of gum and rust. It seemed like a collage he would see in an elementary school art class, it looked quite gross.
Jody felt a wretched chill down his spine, he began to turn around but it was too late. Suddenly a baseball struck the back of Jody's head, disorienting him. It felt as though someone had struck him with a baseball bat instead. The impact causing him to look where the ball had originated from. There was nothing, the ball had definitely been struck with a baseball bat, but Jody hadn't heard a strike anywhere nearby. The two teams were practicing beforehand. Maybe one of their balls had somehow ricocheted over to his area.
"I never heard the ball bouncing around the bleachers, I definitely would've noticed if it had. Where did it come from?"
Jody picked up his pace, he had been walking for a few minutes and was about halfway around the outside of the bleachers. He continued jogging, pulling out his phone when Vincent tested him about where he was sitting. Jody stopped, then another baseball hit his head, this time in his forehead. This time Jody whipped around violently. He had been scattering his Sweet Dreams around the bleachers, two of them had been destroyed by the ball. Jody looked, remembering which bugs had been destroyed, allowing him to figure out the trajectory of the ball.
"That doesn't make any sense, the ball curved. It came from behind me but it weaved around the support beams of the bleachers to hit me. Could this be another stand attack? Can't I just catch a break?"
Before he could formulate another thought or snarky remark three more baseballs flew around the corner and rushed towards Jody. Two of the balls were surrounded by fire and weaving around the support beams as the previous two balls had supposedly done.
"Dang it, my bugs are too spread out through the bleachers to do anything. I might've been able to use them to block one ball, but not ones that are on fire!" Jody thought, trying to squeeze another thought out before the onslaught of sports equipment struck him.
Jody booked it out of the bleachers, staring behind himself, looking at the baseballs. The didn't stop once, turning smoothly to rush directly towards Jody. The balls hadn't dropped speed at all since they targeted Jody. He was close to the road and Jody looked to see a garbage truck driving down the street. He looked forward again and decided to try his luck. He jumped in front of the garbage truck, narrowly dodging it. The truck stopped, with the old driver stepping out to berate Jody for endangering himself, she was interrupted by the sound of 3 thumps striking the opposite side of the garbage truck.
"What in god's name was that ruckus?" The garbage truck driver said, "Are more kids charging into the street?"
Jody didn't move until he heard three balls bounce on the ground, rolling out of the holes they made in the metal. The balls were rolling away from the garbage truck. The driver walked over towards the other side of the truck, with Jody cautiously creeping behind her.
"Why in the hell are there three dents in my garbage truck, and why are there baseballs rolling around on the ground?"
Jody sighed, the current crisis had been averted. But since he was at a baseball game, more baseballs would be sure to come. He sprinted by the garbage truck driver back towards the bleachers to recall his stand easier.
"I have to tell Vincent about this, he might be getting attacked like I am."
Jody had gathered and recovered all of his stand from around the underbelly of the bleachers. He glanced back towards the baseballs and watched the garbage truck look downwards, reaching to pick up the baseball. He watched the driver bend over slowly, being mindful of her body. He watched her grab one of them up. Her eyes went wide like an instruction was being downloaded into her mind. She stalled for a bit, then she resumed action, she reeled back and threw the ball straight towards Jody. It was a professional sports-level throw, being equivalent to a trained pitcher. Once the baseball left the palm of her hand her eyes dilated, regaining consciousness.
"What the hell lady?" Jody shouted as the ball whizzed forward and struck him in the nose, with blood spurting from his nostrils. He fell over, back under the bleachers. He touched his bloody and bruised nose, flinching from touching the spot of impact.
"I obviously can't hide from the homing baseballs, I need to find the origin of the baseballs and try and stop them."
About seventy-five percent of the way around the perimeter of the bleachers, Jody continued running, still awaiting another baseball to come flying under the bleachers. "The balls are coming from above me, someone is either hitting them from on the bleachers or in the field." Jody stopped, "Coach Tabitha is probably the stand user, I don't think anyone else would've activated a stand. I didn't even extend my hand for her to stand up and she grabbed it. That's why she messes with teams beforehand! If she makes the baseballs home in on a specific spot then they have no way of hitting them!"
Jody had made it back where he started and watched as the last members of both teams pour in. Coach Tabitha should have already been in the stadium, seeing as he bumped into her on the way there. Jody checked his phone and ran towards the seats Vincent had told him about. When Jody eyes his blonde companion he felt relieved.
"Vincent, I think I'm being attacked by an enemy stand. I was under the bleachers and baseballs flew towards me, like heat-seeking missiles! Some garbage truck stopped them but then the lady driving it threw them back at me like she was possessed."
Vincent's eyes opened wider than usual, "I haven't seen anything unusual, just the baseball team practicing."
Jody looked toward the infield, scanning the area until he found Tabitha's unusual outfit. She was talking to an African American girl with dreadlocks streaming down her face, some curled into a bun on the back of her head. With further investigation, she was wearing small hoops in her ears and a small nose ring. She had a slight slouch, a single hand on her hip. The basics of her outfit consisted of a dark blue baseball uniform and white pants. She was wearing faded red shoes with blue soles.
"Who is Tabitha talking to?"
Digital Witness appeared on Vincent's face, "If I that is who I think it is then Tabitha is talking to Samantha Abebe. She is amazing when she's running and she's pretty good at hitting baseballs."
Both Jody and Vincent were staring at the two girls' conversation, Vincent attempting to read their lips and figure out Tabitha's plan, "I can't figure out what they're saying, they could be concealing their conversation or I might be wrong."
Suddenly something made both of them shuttered, Coach Tabitha turned and stared directly at Jody. Tabitha grabbed a baseball from off the ground and threw it into the air, a baseball bat materialized in Samantha's hands. The bat had patches on it, each a different color. The bat struck the baseball on a patch that was red, the ball flew forward aimed directly towards Jody. Vincent shoved Jody down, the baseball whizzing directly by where his head was.
"We're dealing with two stand users?!" Jody shrieked.
"Correction, you are dealing with two stand users, I haven't been attacked yet, but technically yeah looks like we have two stand users attacking us."
The baseball curved around in the sky, locked in on Jody, and now covered in flames. Jody started running on the bleachers, shuffling through multiple people in his way. The single ball flew towards Jody, who jumped off of the bleachers, landing on the crisp autumn grass with a slight crunch, though he couldn't determine if that was the grass or his bones.
"I might've been able to fight Coach Tabitha because her stand doesn't seem very physical, but that bat seems powerful, I don't really want to get a concussion or my skull fractured. But still, our stands aren't physical at all. I usually need stealth and the element of surprise to make my illusions work."
Jody sighed, "I'm going to need to fight Coach Tabitha, without sparking or maybe staying out of the range of Samantha's bat."
Sweet Dreams manifested and the bugs fell from Jody's hands. They crawled up the bleachers and awaited the incoming baseball, which was burning up like a meteor. Jody saw the flaming baseball round the corner.
"Here goes nothing! Sweet Dreams, all of you are bugs, right? Then bugs right than do what bugs do!"
As the baseball flew closer to Jody and the Sweet Dreams bugs all of them flung globs of webs, connected to strands that are coming out of their mouths. The webs intertwined, creating a thin but somewhat thick net. The baseball flew into the net, slowing down, but inching closer to Jody the longer it was stuck in the web. Jody could see the baseball starting to crumble because of the fire and knew the web would need to hold for a few more seconds before the ball crumbled into ash. The makeshift net of webs started to shred, with some bugs falling off of their perches on the bleachers. Jody didn't move, if he moved to the left or the right it would've been a sudden shift in weight for the web, shredding it with the changes.
Jody took his jacket off as the last webs of the net ripped, the baseball, which was barely being held together shot towards him. At the last second, he jumped out of the way, using his jacket to catch the baseball. Before it could change the direction he closed it like a bag. It thrashed for a while before stopping. Cautiously Jody opened his jacket, seeing the burned ashes of the baseball.
"God I need to beat the stuffing out of Coach Tabitha and Samantha I guess too. The stand's got to have some sort of activation, besides touching me it has to be able to see me or something. Yeah, I got here before Coach Tabitha so she might've been able to attack me before she had to go to the infield. Then I only got attacked by her when I was in the bleachers and she saw me."
Jody stopped, "I have to be undetected to avoid Coach Tabitha's homing stand and I have to be out of the range of Samantha's bat, it had multiple patches I think? If It had multiple patches and the red patch surrounded one in the fire. What do the other patches do? First I need to stop Vincent from being touched and see if he has a plan."
"Jody! You there?"
Jody looked up and saw Vincent on the bleachers above him, shouting out to the open lot in front of him.
"Down here Vincent, I think I know how Coach Tabitha's stand works now, but we still need to be wary of Samantha's baseball bat."
Vincent nodded, "Ok, if that's the case then you should hide, I'll see if I can drive Samantha out and we can somehow stop her. Coach Tabitha can't deal that much damage if her star batter can hit fireballs at you."
"Sounds reasonable, how do we take out someone that can shoot baseballs like bullets?"
"Yeah, I think that you might have to do that, give me a bug. We can use them like walkie-talkies, you put sounds in my ears and hear me talk through the illusions."
Jody grabbed the closest Sweet Dreams bug and threw it to Vincent.
"Regardless, you should just stay in the bleachers and give me an eye in the sky, tell me where Coach Tabitha is."
Vincent nodded and made his way backward, no longer looking at Jody. He kept hiding, within the shadows under the bleachers, 48 Sweet Dreams bugs surrounding him, awaiting orders.
"Guess I just have to wait for Vincent to tell me where Coach Tabitha and Samantha are. Now that I think about it, do all of the stand users on the baseball team wear dumb and impractical outfits? They can't be allowed to wear that during the game, right? Well, I guess Vincent likes the games, I wonder what he sees?"
A few minutes passed, nothing. Jody crept slowly into the daylight, looking upwards to where Vincent was standing. Multiple times Jody did this, waiting for the bug he gave to Vincent to turn into smoke.
"Dang man, come on, you are too attentive for this to happen."
A soft tingling sensation crept towards the back of Jody's mind. Something had linked, a connection that hadn't been there before, "Vincent! Yo is that you?" Jody forced the words to echo into Vincent's mind, awaiting his ears to pick up what he was going to say.
"Jody, run!" Vincent's words were crystal clear, but he still heard an echo. Not through the connection but also with his own ears. Jody's head swiveled up, watching as Vincent flew off of the top of the bleachers, his back pointing towards Jody as he flung downwards. Jody saw that Vincent's straight glasses were shattered, with Samantha and Coach Tabitha peering over the bleachers.
"I can't catch him with Sweet Dreams, I was barely able to catch a friggin baseball with those webs, let alone a full person!"
As he contemplated the situation at hand, Vincent slammed into him, knocking the wind out of him. Both of the boys tumbled down, Vincent and Jody rolling into the underside of the bleachers. A loud metal clang echoed throughout the outside surrounding the stadium.
"That was an amazing strike Sam, your batting skills have really improved since our private lessons started!" Coach Tabitha's voice was a higher pitch than expected, she sounded as though she was younger than Jody, "After we deal with these criminals we are definitely going to win this game!"
Samantha' looked away, "Thanks coach, let's just get this over with. I don't want to look at them any longer."
Coach Tabitha and Samantha both jumped down, landing cautiously. Vincent rolled off of Jody, both of them dazed and barely glancing at their two opponents, but attentive enough to see Coach Tabitha pull an assault rifle bullet out of her pocket, with seemingly more in tow.
"Now that they're so close and nobody else is behind the bleachers you can finally use these," she held up the bullet so that Samantha could see it. "Finish them off, aim for the white one first."
Jody saw something he hadn't expected, Samantha looked towards her coach, shocked at the proposition of killing someone. Her face contorting, her look expressing pure shock, "Coach you said we would use baseballs and the fire patch on Take me out to the Ballgame! You told me that your ability would make it so that I could hit them from afar!"
"I knew it would have to come to this Samantha, these kids have abilities as we do!" Coach Tabitha now looking at Samantha. "They're the reason that Alex isn't here anymore. He literally messes with minds and the other analyzes the best way to kill people! You've seen how he looks at the rest of the team!"
Samantha seemed less appalled by the proposition but was a while away from siding with Coach Tabitha. "I mean yeah, but they aren't even adults yet," Samantha muttered, Coach Tabitha's short outburst quelling her rebellion against her, her baseball bat stand fading from her hands.
"Yeah, sure they are kids. But he", pointing towards Jody, "Mentally scared Hailey! You saw her body in the hallway, she was practically choking in her own blood. Even with your help she still wouldn't respond to anyone. That was him and his stupid little colony stand! He's far too dangerous to be kept alive!"
The baseball bat solidified, with Samantha starting to eye Jody and Vincent once again. "What am I going to do?" Jody thought, my stand is useless now that I know they know about it! God, Samantha seems like she isn't prone to this fight. I don't want to half too but I'll have to go with my words instead of my swarm."
As Jody opened his mouth to try and appeal, a flaming bullet struck his right arm. It punctured his flesh and shot out the opposite side. When it collided against the sandy dirt some shattered glass melted. Jody recoiled, grasping at his wound, though it wasn't as brutal as it could be it stung like hell. The skin that was still hanging on was charred black. He had nothing he could do, but he tried his best to struggle back to Vincent, holding his burnt arm. Samantha's gaze was now cold and calculated. Her baseball bat was smoking from the impact, "Hand me another bullet."
"Jody, if you can move I suggest that you try and move behind one of the support beams, then try and blind Samantha."
"Ok, just remember you can touch any of the bullets, I wouldn't want you to become a gun."
Vincent nodded and whispered his plan, but using their connection Jody picked it up perfectly, and even though the burning pain he smirked. False confidence and adrenaline filled him like an energy drink into an excited child. He struggled to stand but slowly did so, while Coach Tabitha flung another bullet toward Samantha, who caught it with relative ease. It glowed a slight malevolent purple, a differing shade than Jody's mist. As Samantha threw it up, the bullet now pointed directly towards the center of Jody's forehead. When it reached the apex of its throw it descended, with Samantha starting her swing.
Before the ball connected Jody shouted, "Call me Spiderman because that's a lot of webs!"
Samantha looked down at her feet, watching Sweet Dreams slowly attach thin strands of webs over her worn-out shoes, slowly fastening her shoes to the ground. A sudden whoosh of wind behind her caused her to strike the bullet off its perfect course, the close range didn't give Coach Tabitha's homing stand to curve the bullet. With it barely missing Jody's skull. Samantha whipped her head around, looking for the cause of her missed strike, watching as a huge ball of webs collided with her face, the collective time of her decisiveness was enough for Jody.
"Vincent, I need you to tackle Coach Tabitha, Samantha won't be down for long and she's powerless without her batter."
Jody fell straight backward, the sudden spike in adrenaline draining from his body. He has shoved both of his arms up, but he realized that was a stupid action. Before he collided with the ground he saw Vincent dive at the coach. They struggled at each other, Vincent being in less physical shape than the physical education teacher he lost their grappling match.
"All of you kids are such brats! I come here to watch my girls win and I can't even do that because some black freak and a people stalker decide that they can't beat Hit or Miss! Even the star player," She motioned towards Samantha, "Couldn't hit a point-blank shot, let alone strike something with the power to knock someone out!."
She stopped her pathetic ramblings, "I need to resort to this device. Though it has never failed to impress." She pulled a small gun out of a pocket on her uniform, pointing it at Vincent. Jody's head coiled upward as he watched Vincent try to thoroughly analyze his way out of the situation.
"You can math your way out of this, you little weasel."
Coach Tabitha pulled the trigger, with a loud pop Jody watched as in seemingly slow motion a small cylindrical bullet flew from the barrel towards Vincent. He knew he wasn't fast enough to do anything, forced to watch his friend die. Jody had never felt so useless, this entire battle he had relied on Vincent and that his opponents thought they had one. "Sweet Dreams is useless, I've been reduced to a communicator. Time had stopped in his eyes, causing him to recall his stands escapades. Finding Shizuka in math the day she came in, both of them looking at Man Eater. He thought for seemingly a millennium, accepting his meek fate. Though he had wanted death by explosion, bullets weren't fall off. Retiring his quick internal reflection, time started to flow normally. Before the bullet made contact another one flew from behind Jody, striking Coach Tabitha's bullet before it purged Vincent.
Jody and Vincent looked behind themselves, watching as Samantha slowly stood up, ripping off the webs created by Sweet Dreams, tears welling up in her eyes and any semblance of indecisiveness had been flushed away.
"Is that what I am to you?", Samantha's voice cracked her eyes burning holes into the face of Coach Tabitha. "You said, you said that I was special. You said that I had potential, more than just these powers! That's why you said you started tutoring my batting, you even could see Take me out to the Ballgame! Was all of it a lie?! Were you using me for my destructive power alone!?" She was shouting, her pupils dilating and her brows furrowing, and her eyes searing red, burned with her tears."
Samantha rushed forward, with Coach Tabitha in shock from her students' sudden awakening. Before she could reload and shoot another bullet Samantha's colorful baseball bat collided with her forehead. Jody recoiled as a loud crunch echoed under the bleachers, bouncing off of the metal support beams, keeping the shrill crack in the air. Coach Tabitha's eyes slowly crept towards where she was struck, seeing blood gushing out and multiple small white fragments sticking out. Before anything happened she fainted, falling onto her wound. The coarse dirt stained with blood.
Samantha stood alone, being the only one who hadn't collapsed because of injury. She slowly turned her head towards Jody, she wasn't staring daggers at him. No, she was staring katanas at him. Her baseball bat, now known as Take me out to the Ballgame, and got ready to swing it at him. When it collided with his forehead he felt numb, somehow not being knocked out, but feeling the cracks in his skull. Samantha swung again, her baseball bat covered in flames and she struck him, this time in the chest. Multiple ribs broke off and at least one punctured his ribs. Vincent could only watch as Jody was beaten senselessly. Muffled and wet shattering punctured the air like a knife. When Samantha stopped she slowly turned around at Vincent making eye contact with him, she slowly lifted up her bat, its flames vanished, being replaced by a rubbery green substance. She swung it down in the spot she had struck Jody. When it struck him he didn't move, but all of his wounds were gone.
She spoke slowly, pronouncing every one of her words deliberately, with the intent to repeat what she did to Jody tooVincent, "Now that you know what the stakes are and what I'm capable of Tell me exactly who you are and why you shouldn't die right here."
Stand Stat's Time Baby!
Stand Name: Hit or Miss, Stand User: Coach Tabitha

Anything that Coach Tabitha has touched can act like a heat-seeking missile, locked onto someone she has touched within the last hour and can see. Once locked on the item thrown will not slow down unless affected by external forces. If the item somehow is stopped anyone that isn't the desired target will be possessed to throw the item in the direction of the target. The item under the effect will glow a slight purple, alerting others to its presence.
