Chapter 5

Diana was sent skidding back as she raised her bracelets up to block an attack from Ares. She fell to a knee, she looked up and saw his eyes glowing ominously as he summoned multiple daggers that circle him. The chaos that ensued around them was feeding into his strength. Becoming too powerful for even her to handle, but she would not give up. Her training with her aunt and sisters led her to this moment. Diana stood to her feet and rolled her shoulders as she adjusted her grip on her blade. Meeting the God of Wars gaze she planted her feet on the ground.

"Come Amazonian! Show me what you have learned!" Ares proclaimed outwardly. Diana took a deep breath and in an instant she boomed towards Ares creating small craters from the force she used. She went for a punch across his face but was blocked by the war god and she was forced into another attack. This one connecting, and sending him staggering back. Diana not taking any chances she began to poor on with several more attacks in rapid succession. Her speed surprised Ares, even being fed by the conflict he was barely able to keep track of her movements. Diana moved around him, wrapping him in the Lasso of truth pinning him to the ground as she leapt into the air and came crashing down on top of him. He gasped for a moment as Diana leaped back and noticed him struggle to get to his feet.

"Here I thought you would be a challenge." Diana said triumphantly "I'm getting bored." Taking her eyes off of her opponent for a moment, she looked over to where she saw Spider-Man chase after Loki. Overcome with a sense of worry she scanned across the field hoping to see any sign of him. But not seeing anything she brought her attention back to Ares. Pushing aside her worry for the moment and focusing on her opponent. Although she got the better of him in the first round she worried that this next one won't be as easy.

"You and your mother are a lot alike." Ares said. The last straw has been met. His aura grew more ominous and his tone more serious than it was before. The moon continued to illuminate the area and the sound of the battle that continued to rage on filled the air. Diana tensed and prepared herself for whatever was to come next.

"And that is a bad thing?" Diana asked. Taking this time to think of ways to bring him down.

"I understand you love Hippolyta dearly, as a daughter should." He trailed off. He noticed the Amazons eyes narrow and a grin formed on his face as he rolled his neck popping it. "Tell me, how earnest is your mother? Has she spoken her entire truth to you or does she still lie and deceive you?"

"She has told me about you already, and what you did to my people." Diana said. Ice in her tone as she tightened her grip around her blade and grabbed the gold and blue shield that was mounted to her back.

"HAHAHA, that is not what I am referring to, child." Ares planted his feet on the ground and stared blankly at Diana. "So she hasn't told you yet, of who you really are...just like Hippolyta always keeping secrets."

"I won't have none of this!" Diana shouted lunging towards Ares. Both clashed swords and blocked and countered each other's attacks. Diana faked a swipe and sent a punch aimed at Ares's face. But he brought his forearms up just in time to block the blow. She stared at the man for a moment who began to let out a deep laugh.

"There's no mistaking it! I know exactly who you are now!" Ares said. In a blink of an eye he was right in front of Diana. He slammed his fist into her gut forcing her to lose her breath for a moment. Before he uppercutted her, sending her flying and landing on her back. Diana only had a moment as she rolled out of the way of his follow up attack and brought him down with her legs. She twisted her body so that she was on top now. She went to bring her sword down into the man's chest but Ares blocked it with his own. They struggled for a moment before Diana saw out of the corner of her eye an undead golem coming to aid Ares and was forced to leap out of the way. She picked up her sword that was on the ground and brought it up and through the monster cutting it into two and kicking it away. Refocusing her attention on Ares the man was on his feet again and throwing daggers at her. She blocked each attack with her bracelets, closing the gap between her and him in the process. Diana has been training for this moment since she was a girl. It was time to prove to herself that she is worthy of this title of becoming the next Wonder Woman.

Artemis rushed over to the Queen with the horn in hand as she tore through anything that stood in her way. It took her a few moments considering that the golems that were cut down, only moments later would be up and fighting again. But when she did arrive next to her finally she shouted,

"My Queen!" Artemis ran up and stood next to her and handed her the horn that Ares was using to summon these undead creatures.

"How did you come across this?" Hippolyta asked. As she sliced a golem horizontally before coming back vertically and doing the same.

"Spider-Man handed it to me before he went after the Trickster." Artemis said. The Queen smiled as she took a quick glance towards the building off in the distance.

"He is a brave one indeed." Hippolyta acknowledged. She examined the horn that she held in her right hand. Bringing it close to her mouth and with a deep breath she blew into it. The deep timbre of the horn filled the area, causing Ares and Diana to halt their battle and look over at the Queen. The Undead Golems paused in their tracks completely. They stood lifelessly in the middle of the field waiting. The amazons that were still on the battlefield began to slowly move away from the monsters. Regrouping to the main units, when suddenly their bodies began to shimmer and shift before falling to the ground in a pile of bones. Once again they began to swarm around like a tornado and fly back towards Ares. Diana was forced to dive out of the way as the bones completely swarmed around him. Regrouping with her mother and sisters they all turned and looked back towards where the bones began to form something.

"What's going on mother?" Diana asked. The bones began to form what seemed to be another giant monster. But this one was far bigger than the golems, it towered over the area forcing the amazons to take several steps back. It eclipsed the area standing at 25ft tall, its bony structure and intent to kill on full display. Watching as it took one step forward shaking the entirety of the battlefield. It arched its head backwards and let out a loud roar. The Amazons covered their ears and were forced to their knees. It continued on for several moments before it stopped. Hippolyta was the first to stagger to her feet, but without a moment to compose herself. Ares was in front of her and hoisted her up by the neck, he stared at the Queen and brought her closer to his face. He wore a triumphant smile,

"The horn only works for the one that it is bestowed upon." Ares increased his grip strength around her neck."How befitting is it that you will be the reason that your people will be wiped out completely."

"Y-You will not win!" Hippolyta managed to choke out. She brought her hands up to her neck to try and relieve some of the tension that Ares was applying. Ares looked down at the woman and pulled out a blade. Diana finally shook off the ringing that was still going on in her head and ears and fought her way to her feet. Along with Antiope and Artemis they looked towards Ares and saw that he was going to deal a fatal blow. Without hesitation Diana took off full speed towards her mother.

"Mother!" Diana shouted. She readied herself to take on Ares once again, but just as she was about to reach her mother. A flash of white enveloped the area and Spider-Man and Loki came crashing down on top of Ares freeing Hippolyta from his grip. Spider-Man immediately sprung to his feet and picked up the coughing Queen and ran her towards the Amazons. Before he turned and scanned the ground for the Norn Stone. Seeing it laying on the ground between him and his foes he looked up and back down at it followed his eyeline and noticed what he was looking at. Making a break for it they both ran towards it as Ares and Loki did the same. Reaching it at almost the exact same time it began to flash white once again.

"Oh Come on!" Spider-Man shouted. In a blink of an eye they were gone, leaving only the Amazons and the Giant creature behind.

If you told Peter that he would be battling gods and that it would eventually lead him to be on an Island with a bunch of beautiful warrior women, he'd call you crazy. Even more so if you were to tell him that he would end up in another one of the nine realms, and a beautiful amazon princess draped over him, well he'd still say you were crazy. Diana propped her head up, her hands were on his chest. She looked down and blushed at the rather compromising position they were in. Diana had been straddling his waist, Peter didn't know what to say so they awkwardly stood in this position.

"Umm...I swear this wasn't on purpose." He coughed nervously. Diana had a small smile on her face as she stood from the man and offered her hand. Peter took it and brushed some dirt off of his legs. Both scanning the area, their eyes widened seeing what surrounded them. A dense lush forest, green as far as the eye can see. The moisture in the air caused rainbows to form from the small amounts of sunlight seeping through the trees. It was magical, the entire area seemed to sparkle.

"It's beautiful." Diana said. Both looking around for another moment truly in awe of the surrounding area.

"I second that." Spider-Man agreed. Taking another few moments to truly understand their surroundings. "This really takes a page out of Lord of the Rings"

Diana looked over at him puzzled, Peter rubbed the back of his head nervously as he looked out into the thick green for a moment.

"Forget I said anything, I'll explain some other time." He leaped onto a tree trunk sticking to it and got a little bit of height. But the dense jungle was all he could see in almost every direction. His lenses narrowed as he saw a larger portion of light breaking through the jungle canopy. "I think there's an opening ahead."

"I'll lead the way." Diana said. Peter leapt down and felt immediate pain shoot up his left side. The adrenaline from the recent events slowly dying down and the pain from his injuries started to resurface again. But he kept it in and followed after the eager princess. Pushing through the large brush of leaves and vines they slowly approached the area Peter saw. But before they reached it they came across a small puddle of water that got their attention. It was a red liquid of sorts but not enough to be blood. Getting a closer look at it now, it was more purple than red. Diana knelt down and brought her finger into the liquid and back up toward her nose. It clicked immediately,

"Wine." Diana said.

"Wine? Like, Wine, wine?" Peter said in disbelief. He knelt down next to the princess and examined the small pool of what he now knows as wine. Not really sure what to make of it he brought his head up. "We should keep moving, we need to find Ares. Or Loki. Or the Norn Stone, hopefully the Norn stone first."

"Where are we?" Diana and Peter both stood up and continued their journey forward. The sound of twigs and the grass crunching underneath their feet with each step they took as they approached the large beam of light. Getting closer they could feel the air become more lively. The leaves on the trees swayed gently and the light beamed through the area more prominently. Finally reaching their desired destination they pushed through the last wall of the jungle. Peter has been to a place with a giant fire monster, a snowy tundra, and an island filled with beautiful warrior women. But this, what he was staring at right now, was by far the most beautiful place he has ever seen. The sky was crystal blue changing to a shade of grey with the sun slowly setting over the horizon. Large plains of grass with almost zero trees. None of this made any sense, and Peter thought that paradise island was beautiful. The wind blew gently and they watched as the grass danced as it swayed back and forth.

"Is that a unicorn?" Peter paused and thought to himself for a moment. He sounded crazy saying it outloud, but there was no mistaking it. Its white as snow coat of hair and its lucious white mane looked majestic. Not to mention the trademark horn sticking out of its head.

"It's beautiful." Diana said as she looked over at Peter and noticed the large gash on his side. "You're hurt."

Peter breathed out and brought a hand down to one of the larger cuts, bringing it back up he saw the blood. Definitely wasn't the worse he has had, but he reached up and pulled his mask off. He offered the amazon a smile, she felt her cheeks flush slightly.

"All good princess." Peter said. Diana gave him a sceptical look but trusted he would say something if it was worse. But she did settle on keeping a closer eye on him from here on out. She smiled as he led the way toward the unicorns and thought back to what her mother said. That he had changed her mind, a man, in a land that swore of men managed to change the queen of the amazons mind.

"You two aren't from around here are you?"

Halting their steps instantly they looked around, but didn't see anything and continued to scan the area. Staying quiet they waited to see if they heard anything again.

"Is it customary for people to not answer questions where you are from?" the voice spoke again. But this time it sounded like it was right next to them, almost whispering into their ears. "Hello! Down here!"

Peter looked down to his right shoulder and saw a small woman with wings smiling up at him. He would have been freaking out but considering everything that he's seen in the span of two days he wasn't surprised.

"A Pixie?!"

Maybe he hasn't had enough surprises after all

"Excuse me?!" The small woman shouted in anger as she flew circles around Peter. "A Pixie? You think I'm a pixie?!" She stopped right in front of Peter's nose and stared at him angrily.

Diana giggled as she noticed him freaking out, and saying sorry over and over again.

"I meant fairy! Not pixie!" Peter did his best to correct himself but saw that she was already furious with him. Never in a million years did he think he would be talking to an actual Fairy. But here he is,

"And here I thought you guys would be nicer than the other ones." She pouted and stared away from them for a moment.

"Other ones?" Diana spoke up and moved closer to the fairy. Her curiosity was triggered.

"Yeah, that's what I said wasn't it? I didn't even bother approaching them because they were mean." The fairy continued "I haven't felt magic energy that powerful since the war for the realms."

"Which way did they go?" Peter asked abruptly.

"I'm not telling you anything." She said as she flew over and landed on Diana's shoulder. "Her however I will tell."

Peter rolled his eyes as he placed on his mask, the unicorns from before trotted off and then took off into the air. He looked around and it was getting dark out more than before. It didn't take away from the beauty of the place however, it only multiplied. The grass glowed as the moon or moons began to illuminate the night sky. Waves of small fireflies began to come out of the tall grass

"Hm. There's your Pixies." The fairy said begrudgingly as she flew up in front of Diana's face. "We should really be going, I know exactly where to take you two. Try and Keep up!"

She flew ahead of them leading the way, Diana followed in second and just as Peter was about to follow after them. A slight tingle from the back of his head caused him to stop and look behind. The dense forest from before almost seemed ominous. He narrowed his lenses and stared at it intently for a moment before he heard Diana call out to him and he walked off. But he wouldn't be letting his guard down, even in a place as beautiful as this. Not being able to spot the pairs of eyes staring at him from inside of the treeline.

"Inform them that they have arrived."
