Prompt: False accusation
Rating: K
"Pataki!" The piercing screech silenced the high school classroom.
Helga rolled her eyes, ignoring her fellow seniors as they looked at her and then Rhonda and then back at her. "What can I help you with now, Princess?"
"You ate my Le Livre!" she shrieked, stomping her way towards the blonde. Her face was contorted in fury that would have terrified anyone at the school if their name wasn't Helga G. Pataki.
Responding by rolling her head towards her and, with a bored look, she glanced over Rhonda's shoulder, immediately noticing Lori's smirk. With another roll of her eyes, Helga unfolded her form from her seated position at the long desk she shared with Phoebe. Lori had it out for her from day one of high school. Honestly, she had no idea why. Helga was just so loveable.
Yeah, so she wasn't. But she definitely was just your average high schooler. Helga had honestly never done anything to the girl before and literally out of nowhere, war had been declared. For the most part, Helga ignored her. Rumors spread but why should she care? They weren't true and if people wanted to believe she spent last summer in some European jail, then they were just stupid to believe it.
"I did what now?"
"My chocolates! Le Livre is one of the most expensive chocolates in the world and you ate my box! There's no use in denying it!" The heiress poked her shoulder with a firm finger and for the first time, Helga narrowed her normally calm, blue eyes. With a flick of her wrist, she swatted the other girl's hand away.
"I didn't steal anything, especially of yours. I don't want to catch any of your diseases." Whispers immediately started and Rhonda's face turned crimson.
"I have proof-"
"You have nothing, Princess."
"-so you better plan on replacing it!" Her voice heightened in outrage over the interruption.
"Rhonda, if Helga said she didn't take your chocolates, she didn't." Helga looked over at Arnold in the corner of her eye. When had he even gotten there? His seat was on the other side of the room. She wasn't surprised though. Mr. Goody-two-shoes always had to stand up what he deemed was right. They had become friends over the years, daresay she think rather good friends, so she really should have expected him to try and calm the situation. "She's not a liar."
"Butt out, Arnold," Rhonda sneered. "This doesn't concern you. Besides," raising the same finely manured finger that had poked her moments ago, she pointed to Helga's cheek. "The evidence is all over her face!"
Frowning in confusion, Helga raised her hand to wipe her face but came back empty. It was what now?
"That's from a marker, Rhonda," Helga responded, giving her a look as if she was truly stupid. "Not chocolate."
"I can smell it!" was her snapped response, definitely grasping at straws now. Sharing a disbelieving look with Arnold, Helga just shrugged.
"Admit it and replace them!"
"I don't know what punch you've been drinking, but you need to lay off of it." Helga turned to sit back down but was grabbed by the arm. She hissed as Rhonda's nails dug into her exposed skin and gave her a push. Rhonda released her and was about to say something but Helga snapped before she could.
"No. Do not touch me again. I did not steal your stupid over-priced candy. I don't even know what you're talking about! If they were truly stolen, maybe you should question the people who actually knew about it." She gave a pointed look to Lori who just sniffed and raised her nose in the air.
"Don't you dare accuse my friends!" she shrieked out. "It's all over your breath you-"
If asked, Helga wouldn't be able to explain if Rhonda had just stopped talking from the interruption or if Helga herself had just tuned her out. Because before Rhonda's words could continue, they were replaced by complete silence and then the rushing whoosh of her blood, deafening her to the class.
Because at some point, Arnold had grabbed hold of her arm, tugged her to him, and slammed his mouth against hers. Fireworks ignited throughout her body. Blood continued to pulse everywhere, elevating her to the point where she swore she could fly. But before she could react or even make an attempt to kiss him back, his tongue slipped past her parted, shocked lips.
Arnold pulled back slowly, his lips lingering on hers as if to say they didn't want to be parted, and then turned to Rhonda with a smirk. "No chocolate."
The classroom erupted but, once again, Helga heard nothing but the symphony of her body as she was pulled into yet another kiss. This time in full reciprocation.
