Chapter 5
The next morning Jay felt different, his arm was round something warm, he could smell Hayley's shampoo. He lay with his eyes shut, he could feel her ribs moving as she slowly breathed in and out. Jay was sure that they were not this close last night. He could hear Ally chatting away to Vanessa downstairs. Hayley shifted so she was on her side, facing him. He turned and looked at her, her eyes were open and as his met hers, there was a pull in his stomach. Not a sickly feeling, an achy feeling. Like his stomach was in knots but had butterfly's flapping around, but it intensified the longer he looked at her, a flurry of pink crept up her face, he moved his head closer to hers, his eyes silently asking permission to kiss her. Their noses touching and lips been drawn together like magnets. It started off as pecks and tiny kisses, then as they lost all inhabitations their kisses became longer and deeper. Lips opening, their tongues gliding over each other's lips, entering each other's mouths. Their hands moving over each other, grasping at each other's clothes. Making out like teens, both desperate to take things further, both realising that there was no way they could, not now, with their unit downstairs and Ally bound to come running in at any second. So, they enjoyed the make out session. It felt nice to not be rushing into having sex. Hayley liked the fact that she didn't feel pressured. That they were able to take things slow and relaxed, for now. Hayley new that if Jay actually touched her intimately, she wouldn't last long and she wanted their first time together to be special. Not rushed and hidden. As they pulled apart Jay smiled at her,
"Morning" he whispered.
"Morning" she replied. "Do you think, they know we are in here together like this? I was hoping to keep it a secret for a while."
"I will go out first try sneak down, see what they say. Give it half an hour and then come down." She laughed
"OK!" he kissed her again and left closing the door behind him. He made it to his room changed and got his stuff together for the trip home. Hayley was in the kitchen making a coffee when he came down stairs. The team was outside and Hayley decided she wanted a shower. Jay went outside putting his bag in the truck. Ally had followed Hayley and had got changed. They were bringing their bags down when Vanessa came inside.
"Morning, how did you sleep last night?" she questioned Hayley with a knowing smile.
"Eventually OK! Why do you ask?"
"Well, I brought you a coffee this morning but you and Jay were asleep."
"Nothing happened, we just gravitated towards each other. Honestly, I'm sorry to disappoint you but nothing is going on between Jay and I. We are partners. End of story!"
"OK if you say so! Just let me know if you need me to watch Ally so you can go out, on a date"
The drive home was uneventful. Jay dropped Hayley off and went home. The team all pretty much spent the next few days catching up with chores and with family.
Hayley walked in to the office on Monday morning with Ally in tow. School was out for summer and Sarah was not picking up her phone.
"Ally what are you doing here, Where's Sarah?" Kim asked.
"I'd tell you if I knew" Hayley was not happy.
"Hank, have you heard from Sarah? She isn't answering her phone and she isn't at her house. I've had to bring Ally in with me."
"No, her car was there this morning when I went to meet my CI. Have Kevin track her phone will you. I'll call her Mom."
"ok thank you"
An hour later saw a crime lab being rolled to Sarah's house. Her phone was still in her room. There was blood on the floor. Sarah and her Mom were missing.
Sarah's phone sat on the table by her bed. The last call was from an unknown number. Her mom's phone was in her bag. Back at the station, the group was stood around the board. Pictures of the pair were on the board. It turned out, Sarah and her mom were normal people.
Hank had known the family a few years. The mom and daughter were quiet and well liked in the neighbourhood. No loud parties, no fighting and no reason at all to think there was something going on in their life's that warrant being worried about them. They found some texts on Sarah's phone that worried them. They were from a guy in her class, seems that they had been out on a few dates but then Sarah called it off. Hannah, one of Sarah's friends was been questioned by Kim and Vanessa.
"Sarah said he was pushy, like wanted her to sleep with him on the first date. She said no that she wasn't ready. They went out a few times after but he became obsessed. Calling her at all hours and following her. She has a job babysitting and was so worried about him turning up and frightening the little girl, she was going to quit. Last night she said she was going to call her neighbour who is a cop. It was all too much for her."
"Ok thank you can you sit here for a while I need to speak to my boss?"
She nodded. Biting on her lip. She didn't know what else she could say.
After they had relayed the conversation to their team they pinged the phone that had been calling and texting Sarah.
They had a location and were on their way. It was a trailer park on the edge of a forest. There was only one trailer with lights on inside. The van outside was moving. Sarah's Mom was mobbing round and trying to get someone to hear her. They breached the trailer and shot Kevin. Sarah had been strapped to the bed with black leather cuffs. She had a ball gag in her mouth and had a sheet thrown over her. Through the sheet, blood was visible. Vanessa got her lose and covered while they waited for the ambulance. Sarah just wanted her mom. They both went to Med. A good save for the team, but it was not over for Sarah and her mom. It would be a long road to recovery. Now Hailey was worried about Ally. She needed child care again. In the grand scheme of things. It could wait but, not for long.
Hayley spent the evening at home, dressed in her comfy joggers and a sweater. Ally was playing on the carpet with her baby dolls. They had dinner and cleaned up and were just chilling out. Hayley wanted so bad to call Jay but didn't want to seem desperate. She remembered the way she felt when Jay had kissed her, the way his touch sent jolts of electricity running through her veins at the cabin. Her core clenched at the though of him, his scent invaded her mind and she couldn't stop herself from calling him. He didn't pick up. Why would he? Maybe he was out with a girl. Maybe she had just imagined it all. And maybe he was just...
There was a knock on the door dragging her from her thoughts. She got up and went to the door. Looking through the hole in the door, she gasped. On the other side Jay stood with a bottle of wine. Slowly opening the door his smile made her want to drop her panties there and then. Ally came running to then shouting excitedly that 'her' Jay was there.
Ally played while Jay and Hayley talked in the kitchen. The wine was opened. Ally was taken to bed, she begged Jay for a bedtime story, Hayley was feeling uneasy, she just didn't think Ally getting close to Jay was a good idea, everyone left eventually. She sat on the sofa and listened to Jay telling Ally a story. They giggled and eventually only Jay's voice could be heard. He got quieter and Hayley's heart skipped a few beats, this wasn't going to work she needed to stop this. She needed to run.
