The time came for the auction and Peter was at an alleyway which would be the meeting spot with Diana in a tuxedo and sunglasses that the Justice League helped provide him with and he looked to the hiding spot of some disguised League members ready for the signal. In case he had his Spider-Man stuff in a briefcase in his hand. Teleported silently there was Diana in a breathtaking red dress that covered her arms with sunglasses and her hair held back in a ponytail causing Peter to open his mouth wide. "I think you look nice Peter; so shall we go in my dear husband?" Diana in her disguised voice holding out her arm and Peter nervously took it as he closed his mouth. They went to the entrance of the Bar with No Name and gave the bouncer their fake Ids as well as giving the codename to get in.
There were some evil looking individuals in suits along with thugs everywhere as Peter was more nervous than usual since he actually had to keep his disguise in this place. They sat down at a table; thinking that he should start asking around he asked someone while using his practiced manner of speaking "so I heard that Manfredi is going to be here; I want to see if the geriatric had enough strength to make a public appearance here. He definitely needs to be turned into a robot considering he would then no longer need his bedpan changed..."
There were mutterings and stares and Peter gulped as his Spider-Sense go off and he was picked up at the collar by a tall muscular man in a dark blue business suit with a huge forehead. He recognised him as Joseph Martello better known as Hammerhead; a Maggia enforcer who had his head plated with a steel alloy. "That is the problem with you young hots with no respect to the legends; Silvermane is the last of the old time Maggia leaders and treated his workers with respect and were like family to him. Someone like you doesn't deserve to even speak his name!" Hammerhead snapped at him and Peter wondered how to get out of this without using his powers.
Diana pushed Hammerhead back causing him to drop Peter and told him "don't mind Patton as he is an idiot who doesn't know how to act since he is used to money solving his problems." Hammerhead grunted as he left to join with the other Maggia representatives.
"Yeah that's right; my wife here can squash you hard! Don't mess with me or else look at what you have to deal with! Look is all you can do anyway because only I can touch..." Peter said feeling dirty talking about Diana like this but then Diana put a light grip on Peter's shoulder and he pretended to be hurt by this.
"Looks like I will have to work harder to drill it into your thick skull that I won't be just a trophy wife for you; remember it was a pre-nup that you signed so one phone call to the family lawyer and within a week you will be sleeping penniless with the garbage raiding vermin that are pretty much your kind." Diana said in a serious no nonsense threatening voice. "Sorry about this but I think I am having fun acting like this; how about you?" Diana whispered into his ear and Peter silently agreed.
Then they saw several others Maggia members with them overhearing that Hammerhead was here representing Manfredi so he may not arrive. Then came the host of auction at a stage with a microphone who said that it's time for the auction and then introduce George Grant who looked like a slimy arrogant man who didn't mind working for Lex Luthor. The man said that Grant was here to make a 'honest buck' with his services after being laid off from LexCorp and the winning bidder will be taken to his secret lab where he had required what it would take to transform them into a powerful immortal cyborg like Metallo.
The bidding commenced as Peter and Diana got ready for the time to act as the bidding started and had come to over a billion dollars when they heard gunshots and Hammerhead shouted that someone here was an undercover cop. Peter and Diana were taken aback and then the patrons turned on eachother and then people started shooting and others took out their weapons.
Diana looked serious as she activated her signal to the League members as she undid her hair and tore of her dress to reveal her Wonder Woman attire underneath with the patrons going into a panic. The League members came in and Peter found a place to hide so that he could change into his Spider-Man stuff.
Within 20 minutes the patrons were being rounded up and Peter thought that the Bar with No Name should be closed now for good unless they find a new spot and the police came. The captain eyed Peter shaking his head and the Superheroes were told that all the Maggia members and Grant had disappeared. This was alarming so was this a set up by the Maggia to get Grant for themselves?
Once they had given their statement Peter and Diana walked out to an alleyway to talk, "Found myself a bit dirty what I said while in character..." Peter muttered and Diana told him to forget about it. "Though Grant and the Maggia got away; we still go all those crime leaders and thugs... Was a bit weirded out pretending to be married to you..." Peter told her and Diana smiled.
"Any woman would be lucky to be married for real to you Peter; I was wondering if you were looking into the dating scene again? Sorry for asking if it's too soon after Gwen." Diana told him apologetically which had Peter taken aback.
"Wait, are you asking Spider-Man out on a date?" Peter asked thinking that he has to be dreaming.
"No, I'm asking Peter Parker out on a date." Diana whispered to him and Peter let out a yes before his brain really registered what he was agreeing to. Diana smiled as she gave a note to him and told him "this is the number to reach me at the Embassy, call and we can work out the details." Diana said waving goodbye to him as she was teleported back to the Watchtower to give details of what happened to the main League members.
Peter then web slinged out thinking that some time out as Spider-Man may give him what he needs to think over what just happened.
Grant was fearful as he was gagged and blindfolded during the chaos of what happened at the Bar with No Name. The Maggia took him through a secret tunnel to a hidden Maggia base. He was relieved of his blindfold and gag to be met with the elderly Silvio Manfredi and his daughter Alisa along with their Maggia guards. "You are going to give us all the details of where your secret lab is and we will be checking it to make sure its legit before we go anywhere. Once it has been cleared to be what you say it is; you and the boss will be taken there so you can give him the procedure. If everything goes to plan then not only will you be allowed to leave with your life but you just might make a fraction of what you wanted out of that auction." Hammerhead warned him from the back of Grant.
