At a vantage point Shadow was watching the advancing shield with his binoculars while Amy was waiting behind him "So, what's the plan?" she said excitedly. Shadow scoffed "I thought you were the one with the plan" "No, I'm the one with enthusiasm. You're the one with experience, which I'm looking forward to learning from". Shadow turned back to the shield "Well, first, we need to get behind it, then get past the tanks" "Why don't we just go around, outflank them?". Shadow shook his head "That'd take to long" "Sneak through the middle then" "Not unless you can turn yourself into a badnik" saying it seemed to give Shadow and idea.
The republic cannons were firing everything they had at the shield, but it had no effect. Fang and Espio are watching "It's no use, sir! Even at full power the cannons don't affect them" "Alright. Tell the men to fall back!" he ordered.
As the shield with the army advances through a street a metal box in the middle off it rises revealing Shadow and Amy hiding under it. The shield passes over the box harmlessly and the badniks walk around it without giving it any attention. Inside Amy looks unimpressed "This is a stupid plan. We should fight instead of just sneaking around" "Except for the fact that their deflective shield just passed over us. If you can't cross their lines, let theirs cross you". Once they heard the last of the badniks pass them they started crawling in the opposite direction.
Not faraway Espio, Fang and a few other clones were hiding on the roof of a small building when the shield passed over them. "Stay away from the tanks" Espio told Fang before he jumped off the roof lightsaber drawn into a group of badniks. The clones repelled down and started firing and were able to destroy some of the badniks before being forced to fall back into a building while Espio stayed behind.
Back with Shadow and Amy "I think we've passed all of them, Master. This just might work" "We still have a way to go before we get to the generator" they then feel the box hit something. They throw it off and see a gamma in front of them. It begins firing rapidly but they protect themselves with their lightsabers revealing Amy's to be pink "I can't get close!" she said. "Run!" Shadow said surprising Amy "What? Shinobi don't run" "I said, run!" they do so. The gamma's legs fold in and uses the wheels on the back to chase after them at high speed. Amy turns her head as she's running and see's what Shadow was planning, she stops and the Gamma being unable to slow down quick enough runs right into her lightsaber cutting it in half. Shadow stopped and crossed his arms "Good, you take direction well".
Espio continues to fight alone, he gets into a small bit of cover an activates his commlink "Fang, are you there?" "Sir, most of the units' been wiped out. We can't hold them". Espio saw the shield getting closer to the cannons "Alright, move your troops back to the heavy cannons. Do everything you can to protect them. I'll delay the badniks for as long as possible" "But-" "That is an order, Captain!". Espio jumps out of cover and takes out as many badniks as he can but eventually gets cornered. He puts his hands up and a battle tank stops in front of him. General Tundra pops out of the tank and examines the chameleon "You must be the infamous General Espio", Espio surprisingly smiles "I surrender". An Omega walks up to him and takes his lightsaber before Tundra makes his demands "Now, Master Espio, order your troops to stand down". Espio uses the Force to moves three rocks to make a table and two seats "Please sit down, General. I've conceded the battle. Now we simply have to negotiate the terms of surrender". Tundra looked at him suspiciously "Don't try any tricks, Shinobi", Espio acted very polite "Surely there's no reason we can't be civilized about this". Tundra leaves his tank and walks up to the table, Espio smiled "It is a rare honour to be able to meet one's opponent face-to-face. You're a legend throughout the Inner Core". Tundra sat down "Thank you. The honour is all mine. I'm so glad you decided to surrender" "Well, at some point, one must accept the reality of the situation. Might we have some refreshments?".
Above the planet a Republic fleet jumps out of hyperspace with Admiral Gerald on the bridge of the flagship. "Deploy the fleet. Have the cruiser protect the transports" he ordered the bridge crew. Blaze then entered "We must hurry, Admiral if we are to aid General Espio" "It will not be easy to breach their new blockade, Master Blaze. It's what stopped our relief ships before". Blaze didn't seem deterred "Last time you didn't have as many ships".
On the surface Shadow and Amy are running across a piece of flat land covered in debris towards the shield generator. "Stay close. We've gotta be careful", Amy ignores him and rushes forward "Wait!". "Why? We're almost there. It's-" her feet hit an antenna that was sticking out of the ground. She stops, the ground around her begins to break and five silver humanoid robots burst out. They each have a laser blaster for one arm and a rocket launcher on the other. Shadow runs forward "Forget about the gunners! Set those charges!" he activates his lightsaber and begins cutting down the gunners. Amy runs to the generator but one of the gunners follows her, she Force pushes it away, but it hits more antennas waking more up "Sorry!". Shadow looks angrily at her "Who's side are you on, anyway!?". Amy begins placing the charges on the generators.
Near the cannons Fang and Armand are directing what troops they have left to defend the position. A random clone runs up to the two of them "Sir! General Espio's been captured! There's no one else left" "We've got to hold out! We can't let that shield reach the cannons! Armand yelled.
Shadow was getting surrounded by the gunners "I could use a little help" he yelled as he back towards a massive slab. Amy saw that it had a hole in it "Shads, don't move" she raised her hands and used the Force to drop the slab forward. Shadow sees this "What? No! No!" he closes his eyes thinking he's about to get crushed, but he goes through the hole while the gunners are all crushed. He realises he's alright and angrily looks at Amy "You could have gotten me killed!" "I knew what I was doing" she said defensively. "I had everything under control" Shadow said angering Amy "I just saved your life!".
Espio was enjoying his drink with he general "Of course, once you've taken custody of my troops, arrangements will need to be made for their food and shelter. Tell me, do you have enough supplies?". Tundra angrily stood up "Enough of this! You're stalling". Espio looked innocent "Nonsense. General, there are numerous details to be discussed". Tundra angrily flipped the table "Unless you call of your troops right now, I will have no choice but to kill you where you stand!". Espio looked up to the sky "Truthfully, I was hoping your shield would be knocked out by now".
"Did you get the charges set?" Shadow asked, "Yes" "Then what are you waiting for?". Amy takes out the detonator and makes a smug face before pressing the button, the bombs explode destroying the generator.
Espio smiles as he watches the shield go down "Oh, well" he uses the Force to take out two Omegas behind him before jumping behind Tundra and taking him hostage. "Don't fire!" Tundra orders, Espio smugly looks up "Something appears to have happened to your shield, General".
Fang sees the shield go down "All cannons, fire on the tanks" they do so and begin decimating the badnik army causing the clones to all cheer.
