Before we begin I just want to take a moment to wish a happy Mother's Day to all the hard working moms out there. And to Mama Cerberus I want to say thank you for all you've done for me and my siblings over the years, I wouldn't be who I am today of it wasn't for you. All the love and care you show to our family means a lot and I couldn't ask for a better mom to help shape me into a the person I want to be someday.
Remember to show your mothers all the love and care in the world.
Happy Mother's Day.
Mother's Day
It was a peaceful Sunday morning, and what better way to start the day than being in the loving arms of my two beautiful wives. The three of us were still asleep in our bed just enjoying the peaceful day until the door to our room opened up. Tiptoeing inside were our two daughters as the carefully made their way to try and wake me up.
Yui: ( whispering ) Kanna are you sure this is a good idea?
Kanna: ( whispering ) Of course it is, papa told me to wake him up so we could get our surprise ready.
Yui: ( whispering ) But how are we going to wake him up without waking up our mommies?
Kanna: ( whispering ) Just trust me, I have a plan.
Kanna then went to the wall and tried to wall crawl, unfortunately neither her nor her sister have developed their spider powers yet so she spent the next five minutes just standing in place as she tried to get her hands and feet to stick to the wall.
While Yui kept watch over her sister they weren't aware that I woke up while I watched Kanna try so hard to copy me, if it wasn't so cute I would have said something but she tried so hard that I resisted the urge to do so.
Kanna: ( whispering ) This stinks, papa makes it look so easy.
Carlos: ( whispering ) That's because I have years of practice.
They turned to see me carefully get out of Blake and Yang's grasp as I silently as I could. I stealthily crawled along the wall and made it to the door as I picked up my daughters in my arms and took them with me downstairs to the kitchen. While I made my way with them to get started on a special breakfast for Blake and Yang they both woke up with smiles on their faces.
Blake: Think we should go to the kitchen to keep an eye on them?
Yang: Nah, I think it's better this way. He may be very good at stealth on our missions but when it comes to sneaking away from us at home he isn't as clever as he thinks he is sometimes.
Blake: Yeah you're right, guess I'll do a little reading.
Yang: I'm just gonna get a few more minutes of sleep myself. ( Yawn ) Just wake me up when they're on their way back.
Back to me, I finally made it downstairs and into the kitchen all while Yui and Kanna kept giggling to themselves from our flawless escape from my bedroom without my wives waking up.
Carlos: ( Not a bad escape if I do say so myself. I have definitely gotten better at stealth since my days at Beacon. )
Once we were in the kitchen I set them both down as they gave their attention to me so we could start operation: Breakfast in Bed.
Carlos: Okay girls I assume you two know the plan for today?
Kanna: Yep. Step 1: Make a yummy breakfast for our mama's.
Yui: Step 2: Deliver the breakfast and the presents we hid in our toy box to our mommies.
Carlos: Finally step 3: Wish them a happy Mother's Day. Alright let's get to work girls.
Yui/Kanna: Aye aye daddy/papa!
As we started getting our ingredients ready the girls were more than happy to work as hard as they could to make sure that this breakfast was as perfect as possible. I had them do basic tasks like getting eggs cracked, washing the vegetables and getting me any pots or utensils I needed ( except knives ) as we worked like a well oiled machine.
Carlos: Okay so far so good. If we keep this up I think we can call our little operation a success.
Yui: Daddy I got the eggs ready.
Kanna: And I got all the veggies washed.
As I went over to inspect their work I gave them a peck on the cheek for a job well done. As I started cutting the vegetables I heard the doorbell ringing.
Carlos: Right on time, Kanna I need you to check on the front door please. Yui please stay here and help me out okay sweetie.
Kanna: No problem papa.
Yui: Of course daddy.
Kanna left for the front door as she checked to see Weiss on the other side waiting patiently, she opened the door and gave her a hug which she happily reciprocated.
Weiss: Hello Kanna, it's so good to see you again.
Kanna: Hi Aunty Weiss, what are you doing here?
Weiss: Well I promised your father that I would keep your mothers distracted in case his surprise wasn't ready and I wanted to spend some time catching up with them as well. By the way where is your father right now?
Kanna: In the kitchen, follow me.
As they locked the door behind them she led Weiss back to the kitchen to see me standing on the ceiling as I was juggling some eggs in an attempt to entertain Yui.
Weiss: Why am I not surprised?
Carlos: Joke all you want, you can't deny that this is cool.
Weiss: More like juvenile, but I guess it's a little amusing.
Carlos: Well the girls seem to like it.
Kanna: Juggle more papa!
Yui: Yeah!
She then tossed me a few more eggs while Yui threw some spoons as I easily juggled everything without fail.
Weiss: Okay everyone, as fun as it is seeing your father make a fool of himself for our amusement don't you three have a special breakfast to finish up?
Yui/Kanna: Awww okay.
As we got back to work I took a moment to prepare some coffee for Weiss as I also made a cup for Yang and tea for Blake and had the girls take them to their room to start the day.
Weiss: So Carlos I have to ask, how have you and the others been lately? It's been a while since we've had a chance to talk so I want to catch up a little.
Carlos: It's been pretty good so far, the girls are doing well in school and the missions haven't been too difficult as of late. What about you, I have heard on the news of some new changes happening in your company.
Weiss: The changes aren't that big, just a few things to make the day to day work easier for my employees.
Carlos: Well either way we're all proud of you. You've really turned things around for your families business in the last couple of years.
Weiss: Thanks. I honestly didn't think I could make it this far but all the support I got from everybody really helped out.
While the two of us were talking both Kanna and Yui had just made it to the top of the stairs as they stood outside the bedroom door with a tray for each of them.
Yui: Ready Kanna?
Kanna: You bet sis.
They knocked on the door as they heard a " come in " from the other side. They gently opened the door as they went up to their respective mother and handed her their cup.
Yui: Here you go mommy, your tea just how you like it.
Blake: Thank you Yui.
Kanna: One hot cup of coffee for you mama.
Yang: Thank you sweetie.
They each received a peck on the forehead as they left to return to the kitchen as Weiss was making her way upstairs to keep the two of them occupied for a little while longer.
( Yang's pov )
I had to admit that this was kind of adorable, the fact that our daughters wanted to do something special for us with our husband was so sweet that I had to resist the urge to go downstairs and join them. But I knew if I did that Carlos would try and convince me to just climb back into bed and wait. What made this moment even better was when Weiss showed up a few moments later to spend some time with us while she carried a tray with some items like cream and sugar and a cup of coffee for herself.
Yang: Blake, if this is a dream please don't wake me up. I can't believe Carlos got Weiss to serve us as a Mother's Day gift. Best day ever!
Weiss: Ha ha, very funny Yang. And here I thought I was doing a good thing by paying my closest friends a visit.
Blake: Just ignore her, you know how she gets. It's good to see you again Weiss.
We decided to just chat for a while, I actually really missed moments like this where we could just enjoy one another's company, it kind of reminded me of our time in Beacon when we didn't have to worry about the fate of the world and just focus on our training and studying.
Yang: So Weiss anything or anyone interesting come into your life?
Weiss: If I answer that are you going to make fun of me or will you actually take the conversation seriously?
Yang: I promise to take it seriously.
Weiss: Okay, well I'm not exactly sure if there is someone special as of now. There might be something down the road but it's too early to tell.
I was actually very happy for her, she's spent the last couple of years focused on her work that we were all a bit worried she would put her personal life on hold. Glad to see there's a chance for her own personal happiness in the future.
Blake: Well if things do go down that road then you have my support.
Yang: Mine too, don't forget that you're still a part of this family. If you ever need advice just ask us, after all we did manage to get the best husband ever.
Weiss: I'll keep that in mind. Speaking of your husband, how has he been managing? I assume being a father, husband, huntsman and a so called superhero must be exhausting.
Blake and I briefly exchanged glances as we talked a little more about that. It's true that there are times when it seems like our husband puts too much on his plate, but at the end of the day he never forgets his responsibilities to his family and he enjoys his time with us as well as making Vale safer one day at a time.
Yang: I know sometimes he feels like all these responsibilities are his to carry alone, but the two of us have been there for him and we know that he'll be there for us when we need him.
Blake: We did promise to always look out for each other, and I like to think we've been doing a good job at that.
We then heard another knock on our door, Weiss opened it to reveal our little girls with a tray of food in each of their hands with a homemade breakfast and a little handmade card from each of them. Kanna went up to Blake while Yui walked over to me as they handed us our food.
Kanna/Yui: Happy Mother's Day! We love you very much!
Weiss: ( This is so adorable, I wish I remembered to bring my scroll this morning so I could take a picture. )
Blake: Thank you girls, we really appreciate this.
Yang: Come over here and give mama a hug!
I never get tired of giving my beautiful daughters a warm hug, just holding them close like this always brightened up my day.
Yang: By the way where's daddy? Shouldn't he be celebrating with us?
Yui: Actually...
( Normal pov )
I was about to go upstairs and deliver breakfast for my wives with my daughters only to get a phone call from the flower shop saying that their delivery driver was out today and that I had to go and pick up the bouquets myself.
Carlos: Okay girls change of plans, I need you two to deliver this food to your moms. I need to go on a delivery pick up.
Kanna: But what if mama asks about you?
Carlos: If that happens just tell them that I need to pick up one of their gifts and I will explain the rest when I get back.
Luckily I already planned for a situation like this which is why I secretly put away one of my spider suits in the living room. As my daughters went upstairs I changed into my Advanced Suit and went out the back door as I began swinging into the city.
Carlos: ( Just great, once again the old Parker Luck strikes again. Only in my case it's the Ortiz Luck but the point still stands. On the bright side there's no way things can get any worse than this. )
About halfway through my trip I heard the alarm of a nearby bank go off as I saw several guys with guns and ski masks running to their car with bags of cash.
Carlos: I just had to say something, I better not regret this later.
I swung after them as the spotted me, a few guys began shooting at me as I avoided their bullets long enough to land on the roof of their car.
Thug 1: Take this Spider-Man!
He started shooting at me while I webbed up his gun and began to encase him in webbing as we approached a nearby traffic light.
Carlos: Here's your stop!
As we passed the light ( which I might add was red by the way ) the crook was yanked out of the car and left dangling as the light changed.
Carlos: One down, two to go!
The next crook tried hitting me with a metal bat only for him to miss as I threw it away and him over the side as he landed in some nearby garbage bags that I stuck him to using some impact webbing.
Carlos: And then there was one.
The last guy really didn't like his odds so he accelerated the car and drove like a maniac in an attempt to shake me off. He almost ran over 5 pedestrians, drove past 3 stop signs, and crashed into my favorite hotdog cart.
Carlos: Okay you know this is how guys like you end up in those drivers ed videos right!
Thug 2: I ain't going back to jail! Especially because of you spider freak!
The driver then started pulling stupid maneuvers hoping it would be enough to make me lose my grip, as he did he almost crashed into several buildings along the way, fortunately everyone got out of the way in time to avoid any unwanted casualties.
Carlos: Okay I tried doing this the easy way, guess it's time to do it the hard way!
I positioned myself by the passenger window as I slammed my feet through it, I was able to kick the driver out through his window as he landed ( mostly ) safe on some nearby bushes. The car ended up hitting a pothole and flipped over while I stuck my hands to the roof and hood of the car as I caught it. After adjusting my balance on landing I was able to put the car back down as the police arrived on the scene to arrest the last guy.
Carlos: Nothing like a high speed chase to keep a superhero on his toes.
I looked at their cars to see the other two from before already in the back seats with the last guy joining them.
Policeman: Thanks for the assist Spider-Man, the money is safe and these perps are going back behind bars.
Carlos: No problem officer, just doing what I do best. Now if you'll excuse me I have some gifts I need to pick up for some special ladies back home.
With that I continued on my way and luckily there weren't any mishaps this time as I picked up my bouquets and began to make my way back home.
Carlos: Hopefully the girls aren't mad at me for taking too long.
Finally, it seemed like it was going to be smooth sailing from here on out.
Carlos: Spider sense? Woah!!!!
I just barely avoided getting hit with a fire hydrant, looking down at the street I saw a familiar looking nut job that needed to be put in his place. Again.
Rhino: The time has come Spider-Man! Prepared to be squashed like the bug you are!
Carlos: ( sigh ) All I wanted was to deliver these flowers to my wives! Is that too much to ask!
( Blake's pov )
( 90 minutes later )
We just finished watching the news in our living room to see our husband stopping a robbery from a bank in the city as well as fighting Rhino for what was probably the 4th time in the last 7 months. Weiss had left a few minutes before as the news showed footage of the car chase that led to a fight in the middle of downtown, now that the fight was over it was safe to go out again without having to worry about an oversized wrecking ball trashing the city.
Blake: Honestly I'm not even surprised this happened.
Yang: True, but you gotta admit he really knows what he's doing out there.
We looked at our daughters as they practically had stars in their eyes watching their father at work. I couldn't get over how much they admired him for helping out the city and how they said they wanted to help people when they got older. It did scare me and Yang that they might get into as much trouble as their father someday, but we also knew that if that day did come our daughters would be more than ready to handle the challenge.
Kanna: That was so cool! Papa is amazing!
Yui: He's the best hero ever!
Yang: He's something alright. Hopefully he doesn't forget what he went to pick up like last time.
Carlos: Okay so I forgot to pick up the milk one time! Are you seriously going to remind me every chance you get?
We looked up to see him on our ceiling with two bouquets of flowers in his hands. His suit was a little dirty but he still sounded alright, especially considering the fact he kept damage to the city at a minimum. He then jumped down as he handed us each a bouquet while getting down on one knee.
Carlos: These are for you. A small token of my love and appreciation for two of the most important women in my life.
Blake: You really love being a hopeless romantic don't you?
Carlos: As long as you find it charming than yes.
We took our flowers as he took off his mask and gave us a kiss. We then saw our daughters go up the stairs and a few moments later they came back with a small black box in their hands. They each handed one to us as Yang and I opened them to reveal new diamond earrings inside.
Yang: Oh my gosh! Honey these are beautiful!
Blake: How did you afford these?
Carlos: Remember that week long mission that I took 3 months ago with Jaune and those huntsman from Atlas?
Blake: You mean with that VIP that needed escorting from Mantle?
Carlos: Well turns out she was so impressed with our work that she rewarded us with extra lien. So I held on to it so I could get you these earrings. I remember how you mentioned last year that you two liked them so I searched through every jewelry store possible until I found them.
Yang: Thanks honey, this is the best Mother's Day ever.
Yui: Wait we still have one more present left!
Kanna: Just stay right here while we go and get it.
The two of them ran upstairs as we all look confused, even Carlos had no idea what was going on. They came back carrying a large roll of paper together that they revealed to be an oversized poster, they had drawings of our family, Yang and me fighting Grimm, but my favorite had to be the drawing of us together during the holidays since we've managed to celebrate them together as a family. I started tearing up as did Yang.
Blake: Girls this is amazing, did you really make this by yourselves?
Kanna: Yeah, it took us all week without you catching us. We wanted it to be a surprise for all of you.
Yui: Do you like it?
Yang: Honey we love it.
Carlos: It's incredible, you two are better artists than me when I was your age.
We then spent the rest of the day together as our daughters asked us to tell them stories about when we were younger, moments like this made everything we went through back in our younger days worth it. Looking back I never thought that I would get to experience something like this, and now looking at my family I can safely say that this is where I want to be, surrounded by the people I love and who love me back.
