Chapter 4

Victor's P.O.V

My fingers intertwined with hers as she then leans in resting her head against my shoulder. I quickly looked away feeling my cheeks were warming up fearing they'd be flushed.

"I miss this...When we're like this" She recalls our past

"Y-Yeah, I-Its been a long while since you moved on" I felt a slight nervousness bringing up the death. But this time I had been given the chance to get to know this beautiful woman again. "So Uhm...about seeing y-you're parents?" I asked her. I turned my attention towards Emily only to notice she's been staring off and looking all of a sudden sadness on her face. I felt regrettable for having to bring up a touchy topic "E-Emily?"

Emily closed her eyes letting out a soft sigh before she spoke her thoughts out aloud.

"I just haven't seen them and...I don't know how they might think and react when they see someone whos suppose to be dead..."

I understood what she meant about how her parents would feel because I've been there and still trying to come to terms with how is it that from being dead to alive.

I looked at her, still holding her hand in mine making sure she knows I'm still here and going anywhere until I know she'll be alright, besides I'm in no rush to go anywhere.

"I-If you like...We could g-go together and see you're parents. So that you don't have to feel alone. I-I mean that is if y-you want me to.." I waited for her to respond, wondering if she would feel better about wanting me to go with her.

Emily looks up towards me with a look of safe and relief on her expression. Emily slowly started to smile with a nod.

"You won't be alone" I said reassuring her "Let's take one step at a time" I added before we both smiled at each other. I love having to see the softness of her rosy cheeks when she smiles.

We continued to talk, changed the subject from the sadness and nervousness of the subject that would cause us to laugh in each other's company. We also talked about Victoria and me when Emily asked to know how we've been since the time Emily had let me go to live my life.

"I'm so happy for you both. When is the wedding going to happen? Don't forget to invite me!" Emily said as she stares at me with a playful serious look on her face.

I thought it was adorable which caused me to smile and give a small chuckle before I respond to her and answering her question.

"Of course, We both would love for you to come to our wedding. We are both thankful to you that this is happening for us. All because of you"

Emily smiled brightly at what I said to her as it's from the bottom of my heart.

(Mini time-skip 8:30pm)

Time surely went by when you get caught up in a moment like this. I noticed the light had come to an end when I looked out towards the window, with how long we've talked for.

"I-It's getting late.." I pointed out as I then looked back towards Emily. Emily turned her attention towards the window to see how late it was.

"O-Oh! Y-You're right. Your parents might be worried about you.." Emily said as she quickly removed her hand out of mine worriedly.

"Hahaha it's alright they're probably used to me being gone for a while," I said as I stood up from the couch.

"That may be true...but they are your parents" I turned my attention towards her seeing her expression on her face, I can tell where she's coming from. I tilted my head, slightly looking away rubbing the back of my neck with my hand feeling a little bad. But I get it because of what she's been through that she ended up the way she was before this all started happening.

"You're right..." I said agreeing with her and looked back towards her with a gentle smile. Seeing Emily smile softly the way she does makes me feel a little better and calm "I guess I should best be going" I said.

Emily stood up from the couch as I make my way towards the front door. When I reached out towards the doorknob I suddenly remember something.

"Ah!" I burst out as I turned back around only to realize Emily had a slight shock on her face from my sudden outburst. "S-Sorry I Uhm just remembered I forgot the picnic basket from our earlier picnic" I explained to Emily about my date with Victoria before she left to go to her extended family.

"Oh. Well, you better not forget that" Emily said as she smiles and giggles gently.

I nodded and exited the house once I had opened the door. I stopped in my tracks standing on the front porch of the house as I turned around to see Emily standing at the doorway. Still comprehending how Emily is alive and that all of this is actually real. I smiled towards the woman in front of me before I gave her a wave, once I saw her wave in return I started walking in the direction I had come from when I followed the blue butterfly.

"V-VICTOR!" Not expecting it, I heard Emily called my name. Causing me to turn back around to look only to see Emily exit the house and approached me.

"E-Emily is everything alright?" Even if there is nothing wrong...I will admit, it made me happy when she approaches me in a bit of a hurry. Yet I can't help but feel like she's a lot safer inside instead of being out and about where someone might see her or could recognize her.

"I uhm..." She paused and averted her gaze seeming like she's embarrassed about what she wants to tell me or ask me which does pick at my curiosity. "I'll walk you back" She said with a shy gentle smile as she started walking in the direction I came from.

"Ah E-Emily w-wait..." I called out to her which caused her to pause in her track and turned her attention back towards me. I walked up towards her until I now stand in front of her.

Emily stares at me wondering what's wrong.

"A-Are you sure it be safe for you to wonder?" I asked as I rubbed the back of my neck ring to conjure up something to say next or to explain "I-I just think it would be best that you stay here where you'd be safe"

"I will be safe. After all, I have you right Victor?" When she said that my heart skipped a bit, caught me off guard. After I recollect my composure I cleared my throat and eventually responded.

"I can't stop you...Can I?" It wasn't a question but more of a statement where no matter what say to try and convince her, nothing will stop her.

Emily just gave me a smile with a small giggle as a response.

"We should get going" Emily said.

"Yeah" I respond as we walked into the woods together.

It has been silent for a while between us as we walked through the woods until we eventually arrived where I had left the picnic basket which is in the same way as I had left it.

I approached the basket, taking the basket in hand my thoughts went back to the time I've spent with Victoria having our alone time enjoying our picnic together before she left.

When I stood back up I notice Emily in the distance from where I stand wondering what she's focused on. I followed her gaze until my eyes fall upon a particular tree in the distance from us.

"We had such an adventure together" She said as she approached the tree "This being the very place where it all started" Emily reminiscing about our strange and interesting adventure. I approached her in front of the tree she stood. I looked at Emily before looking at the tree, thinking about our past together which caused me to smile.

"Yeah...A strange adventure that I didn't think would o-or could ever happen"

"But it did happen"

I turned my attention back towards Emily seeing her having to stare right back at me. My heart raced a bit causing me to look away and rubbed the back of my neck as I think to myself.

"Wh-Which I wouldn't trade it for the world...I don't regret it" I lower my hand from my neck "Be-Because I-I got to meet and know you with the time we had spent together" I smiled gently thinking about those memories we had shared together.

"I don't regret anything too" I lifted my head when I heard she felt the same thing "I'm thankful to be given the chance of experiencing what I've missed before I died" She smiles towards me which I can see how genuine she feels.

We both smiled at each other gently, but once again time had escaped from us. Realizing this we both laughed a bit before Emily started walking in the direction that leads back to town. Before I followed Emily I took a look back at the tree giving a smile then went to catch up with Emily with the picnic still in hand.

We eventually arrived just outside of the forest. Standing at the very bridge between the woods and the town. We both made our way to the middle of the bridge.

I turned my attention towards Emily once we stopped at the middle of the bridge.

"I guess this is where we part ways" Emily said with a gentle smile.

"Yeah...I-It would seem so" I replied. Deep down I felt as if I don't want today to end yet, because for all I know when I wake up the very next morning this all could be all...over.

I was about t walk away when I remembered about our talk earlier.

"W-Wait!...Emily" When I turned around to look at her as she waited for me to speak my thoughts "Le-Lets m-meet back here...S-So we can go together to s-see your parents" I suggested.

There was a bit of silence but it did not last long when I saw Emily smile brightly with those rosy cheeks again.

"I would like that" She said as she pushed the strands of her hair from the side of her face to the back of her ear.

I nodded and waved before making my way into town.
