Robert walked into catering and spotted Natalya there. He had never really talked to her before other than the normal greetings but he felt like he had to today. It seemed like she spent more time with his sister than he did.
"Hi, Nattie," he said.
"Hi, Robert," she smiled.
He fixed himself a coffee and cleared his throat. For some reason he always had a hard time talking to his female coworkers. It wasn't that he felt nervous around them or anything. It just always felt like he had nothing in common with them to talk about. To his surprise Natalya opened the conversation.
"How's your sister doing?" She asked.
He coughed and looked surprised. He wasn't sure what she meant. She of all people should know how Bobbie was doing.
"What do you mean?" He asked.
"She's closing in on having worked here for a month now. The trial month as we all call it. I only hear good things about her so she'll stick around for sure. She seems happy about being here too," she said.
"She seems happy?" He asked confused. "Shouldn't you know how she feels?"
"I haven't talked to her recently," she said.
He furrowed his brows and took a step towards the table.
"But she's rooming with you," he said.
"What?" She asked. "We've never roomed together."
"No no no, that's not true. She told me she's rooming with you," he said.
"Robert, I'm sorry for causing trouble, but I've never roomed with Bobbie," she said.
"Who the hell is she rooming with then?" He asked.
"I don't know," she answered.
He threw his coffee in the trash can and ran out of catering. He had to find Bobbie and get some answers. He stormed down to the seamstresses' station where she was working on someone's gear. He didn't care whose gear it was or if it was important. He needed answers right now.
"Bobbie!" He yelled.
She stopped sewing and looked up at him. Every seamstress in the room was looking at him. He ignored them and continued staring at his sister.
"Who the hell are you rooming with?" He asked. "And don't fucking lie to me again. I just talked to Nattie, and she told me you're not rooming together. So who is it? I can already tell it's a man since you felt the need to lie."
She ignored the eyes of her coworkers and walked over to her brother.
"Let's go somewhere to talk," she said.
"I'm not going anywhere with you!" He hissed. "Tell me right this fucking second!"
"Does it matter who it is?" She asked.
"Yes, it does!" He yelled. "Give me a fucking name! Whoever it is, it ends today. Tell me who that little bitch boy is so that I can go beat him up."
"It's me," Roman said.
Robert turned around and saw Roman in the doorway. Apparently Roman had walked by and heard the argument and he decided to let everyone know the truth. Roman knew it was wrong and that he should have talked to Bobbie about it first, but he felt the need to come to her aid.
"You?" Robert looked surprised. "I don't believe it."
Robert turned back around to face his sister again.
"Why him of all people? Do you feel safe knowing the locker room leader will have your back?" Robert asked.
"It's not about that," Bobbie said.
"I don't care!" Robert growled and turned back around to face Roman. "Do you have anything else to add?"
"No," Roman said.
"Yeah, I didn't think so," Robert sneered.
Robert grabbed Bobbie's wrist and pulled her past Roman and out of the room.
"Outside!" Robert barked. "Now!"
Roman watched as the siblings walked down the hall and away from him. At least the truth was out there now. Bobbie didn't have to lie to Robert anymore. The thought of people learning about this secret relationship that had been going on for a month made Roman warm inside. He was ready to let people know and move into more serious territory than only seeing each other in secrecy on the road.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Robert yelled as soon as they were outside. "And Roman of all people? Why? You know he does that to all the new women, rigth? He doesn't give a shit about you, Bobbie. He will never give a shit about you."
Bobbie just shrugged. She didn't have an answer for that. Telling her brother that something just snapped in her brain the second she saw Roman and turned her into a horny mess minutes after meeting him didn't seem like the right thing to say.
"Of course you got nothing to say. I'm not even surprised. That's so typical you," he said.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She asked.
"Look at your history with men. You don't exactly pick the winners," he said.
"That's not fair. You've only met a few of my boyfriends. You never met any of the good ones. I'll be the first to admit I picked a few rotten apples but they weren't all bad," she said.
"Yes, they were!" He sneered.
"Is Roman bad?" She asked.
"We're not discussing this any further," he said.
He pushed her back inside the arena and walked down to the men's locker room.
"Wait here," he said.
He walked inside and came out shortly after with the key card to his hotel room. He handed it to her and pushed her towards the exit again.
"I'll cover for you and tell them you forgot some important sewing gear at the hotel," he said. "Meanwhile get your stuff out of Roman's room and put it in mine. I swear if I ever catch you near him again, I'll make sure they fire you. You are not fucking embarrassing me like this ever again."
