Laura and Bill never spoke about that night in his rack. He was called to CIC before she woke and she was back in Sickbay before he came back to his quarters.

To be honest, Laura was too embarrassed to bring it up. Bill just never did.

Sometimes Laura wonders if she dreamt it. Then her body warms at the sight of him to remind her it was real.

But not this time. This time the sight of him cause her to turn cold.

Laura tried to conceal her pain, but her tears betrayed her. She had to get out of there. She didn't want to look at Bill. His decision had gotten someone she'd loved killed.

Laura managed to make her way out of the morgue without her legs giving out. Her body shook.

"Don't follow me." She told the marines assigned to guard her. "I'll throw you out the air lock if you do."

Laura walked down the hall until she reached a hatch. She opened it revealing an empty janitors closet. She slipped inside hoping no one saw her. She needed a minute alone. A minute to break down.

Laura sank down to the floor against the wall. She pulled her knees up the her chin and sobbed with her face resting on them.

Laura had felt this pain before when she'd lost her father, two sisters, and unborn nephew in a car accident. It was different from the pain she'd felt when she lost her mother.

Laura had watched the cancer and Doloxan eat away at her mothers body, mind , and soul. Her mother's death was a relief. She was no longer suffering.

This pain was from sudden death. When someone you know is gone without reason, it cuts deeper into your heart and soul then if you see the end is near.

Laura wasn't sure how long she'd sobbed before exhaustion over took her.

When she woke she wasn't in the janitor's closet, but in Bill's quarters. In Bill's rack.

Laura's eye sprang open. She looked down at her clothes. She'd been changed to the shirt and boxers she'd wore the last time she was here.

Laura's head hurt and her memories seemed foggy. What was she doing here? Was Billy's death all a dream? Was she this the morning after Bill had broke her out of Sickbay?

Laura climbed out of rack. Her legs were wobbly. The room spun. She felt herself start to fall.

"Careful." Bill's arms came around her. "Are you okay?"

"I don't know." She shook her head. "Why am I here?"

"You went missing." Bill helped her to the head. "You're marines said you threaten to air lock them if they followed you."

"Yes," Laura nodded. She braced herself on the sink while Bill wet a washcloth. "I needed a minute."

"Well," Bill wiped her face for her. "While you were taking a minute there was a Cylon attack and the President was missing."

"Oh no." Laura eyes widened. The anger she'd had toward him vanished. "And you all thought . . ."

"That you'd been kidnapped?" He finished for her. His face showed the fear he'd felt. "Yes."

"I'm sorry." She placed a hand on his face. "I didn't mean to scare you."

"I'm sorry for what happened to Billy." He kissed the palm of her hand that was resting on his face. "But I still feel like I made the right choice."

"The right choice," Laura nodded. "Yes, but it doesn't hurt any less."

"I wish I could take the hurt away." He sighed pulling her against him.

"Me too." She wrapped her arms around him. She winced when the pain in her head returned. "My head is pounding."

"You should see Doc Cottle." Bill pulled back to look down at her. "I can have him come here."

"No," she shook her head leaning on him. "I think it's just exhaustion."

"When is the last time you've ate?" Bill asked leading her back to his rack. He handed her two pills and a glass of water.

"I don't remember." Laura set on the edge of rack. She took the pills and drank the water. "What was that?"

"You really should ask those questions before taking something." Bill smiled taking the glass back. "It will help with your headache."

"I trust you." She shrugged.

"I'll order us some dinner." Bill helped her lay back down. "Go back to sleep. I'll wake you when it's ready."

"Come lay with me?" Laura asked. She wanted to be mad at him but life was short. He'd made the right decision. "Please."

"I'll be back after I order." He kissed her forehead.

Laura scooted over so he would have room when he came back.

"Dinner is ordered." He slipped into the rack with her. His arms instinctively went around her pulling her against his side. "Get some sleep. The chef said it would be about an hour."

"Okay." Laura snuggled up against him. She closed her eyes. She saw Billy in the morgue.

"Laura, what's wrong?" Bill asked feeling her stiffen.

"He was so young." Laura's voice cracked as her sobs returned.

"I know." He held her tighter. "I know."

Laura sobbed against his chest until sleep over took her.

"Laura." Bill lightly patted her shoulder. "Dinner is here."

"Okay." Laura stretched feeling like she'd slept for days. "Thank you."

Bill helped her out of the rack and lead her to the table. Once she was seated he set down next to her.

He'd ordered them what looked like chicken, vegetables, and rice.

"How does you head feel?" Bill asked pouring them some water.

"I feel a lot better." She nodded cutting her chicken. "What ever that pill was, it worked wonders."

"I'm glad to hear it." Bill handed her a glass of water. "You need to take care of yourself."

"I know." She sighed taking the glass from him. "I'll do better."

Laura and Bill shared small talk while they ate.

"I guess I should get back to Colonial One." Laura folded her napkin and placed it on the table. "I have to pack Billy's things."

"Stay the night." Bill caught her hand. "His things can wait until tomorrow."

"I don't think I should." Laura thought back the the last time she'd stayed with Bill. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Yes." Bill nodded.

"The last time I was here," Laura looked down at their hands joined. She stood and pulled her hand from his. "Never mind, I should go."

"You were going to ask about what happened in my rack?" Bill asked standing. He stood between her and the hatch. "Is that it?"

"So it did happen?" Laura asked with a smile twitching at her lips.

"It did." He nodded.

"That's good to know." Laura smiled. She held out her hand. "Goodnight, Admiral."

"That's it?" He asked.

"We have certain responsibilities that says even that shouldn't have happened." Laura shook his hand before releasing it. "Goodnight, Admiral."

"Goodnight, Madame President." He watched her walk out of his quarters."
