SG1 and SG18 were spending a nice evening with the Enderers at the banquet. The dinner was being held outside, in Faron's village, as the weather was really nice and people could see the stars shining in the clear skies. Jack was getting heat at the big fire and observing the scene, a glass of wine in the right hand. The guests and the villagers had started the event seated at tables around the fire. There were plenty of meals and beverages. Musicians were entertaining the audience, near a table. People were dancing around them. The others were eating and/or discussing. Cameron was telling with gestures some of his adventures to a group of kids, they were all sitting on the floor. Daniel and Doctor Alden were chatting with four villagers at a table. The topic seemed to be serious, as the villagers looked concentrated. These guys probably belonged to an upper class, given their more sophisticated clothing and attitude. At another table, Bradley and one of her teammates were talking to a few of the leaders of the region, recognizable thanks to their jewelry and neat clothes. Teal'c and the fourth member of SG18 were being explained the nature of some plates by ladies. Others were chatting with Vala near a water well. The SG1 lady was fascinated by the local people's long and beautiful scarves.
It was a great banquet. Jack couldn't deny it. Sam would have enjoyed it. Jack imagined Sam and him designated as the ambassadors from Earth to visit the planet. They would attend the banquet. He would hold her hand beside the fire. The man smiled, thinking about this fantasy scene. Indeed, Sam and he would never do that in reality.
Faron came, interrupting Jack's thoughts. "Is everything okay, General O'Neill?"
The officer turned. He didn't hear Faron approaching. The man was holding a glass of wine, too.
The general replied, "Yes. This is a very nice banquet. You did a great job, Faron. Thank you very much for this, I appreciate."
"You're welcome, general. Would you like more wine?" Faron proposed, raising his own cup.
"I would love to, but that wouldn't be reasonable. I think I'd better stop here and get some rest."
"Then, I'll see you tomorrow, General O'Neill." Faron said, with a smile.
Jack smiled. He thanked Faron once again, and left the place. He went back to one of the houses in which SG1 and SG18 were hosted. Jack and SG1 had been put together in the same room. Five military cots and two big cases (sent by the SGC a few hours after SG1's arrival) were waiting for them there. Jack felt tired although he didn't drink that much. Was he definitely getting too old for banquets and parties? He was used to that on Earth, though...
Jack put his P90 in a case, removed his cap, tactical vest, and jacket, and fell on his right side, onto a military cot.
