The afternoon had gone by in a blitz. Mostly due to Erwin's never ending source of energy.

Hanji was so tired that even she started measuring time by how many naps he took. It had been maybe two and a quarter naps by the time Erwin got hungry again. Hanji was about to offer the porridge she'd saved from breakfast then thought better of it. She claimed she had work to do, experiments to run and dumped Erwin with Levi again. She dashed out before Levi could protest.

"Looks like it's me and you again." Levi kneeled down to Erwin's height. He'd learned that being on the same level with children made them more comfortable. And it was easier to stare straight ahead of bending his head down everytime Erwin spoke. "So, what do you want to do?"

"Levi!"

"Not an option kiddo. We can play a game."

"Levi!"

Levi frowned. "You're not making sense. C'mon now you little baka, try again."

But Erwin just lifted his arms in the air and said "LEVI." He stared meaningfully, then Levi got it.

"Could've just asked to be held," Levi grumbled as he lifted the toddler into his arms. Erwin hummed in content. "Tonight, I don't want any more antics alright?" Levi said as he hipped open his door. He went to set Erwin down, but he clung to Levi's neck like a monkey. "Let go."

"Levi..."

"No, Erwin. Don't make those eyes at me."

"LeviiiiiiiiiiIIIIIIIII-"

Levi paused, still stooped down. This time he wasn't going to give in so easily. "Ask nicely."

"Please? Hold me Levi?"

"Yes." Levi righted himself with Erwin still attached, and sat on the bed. "See? Better. No yelling, no tears, and we both got what we wanted."

Damn, I could be a great dad. Followed up by, Nevermind. I could never. There's too many ways I could screw up any kid, especially if it were mine.

"Levi?" Hanji poked her head in. She smiled softly at the pair. "I was coming to ask if you wanted a break."

"Sh!" Levi hissed. He made wide eyes at the dozing kid in his arms, and Hanji nodded and immediately backed out. It took about twenty tries before Levi could lay Erwin down without him waking up and demanding to ask where he was going. Levi draped the blanket over Erwin's shoulder. And as if there were an abnormal titan a foot away, he stealthily crept to the door. He glanced back one more time, then slipped out. He snicked the door softly behind him, and remained light footed until he was down the hall. Then and only then, did he breathe a sigh of relief.

So. Hanji- oh no, Hanji.

"Levi!" Hanji hissed from the bottom of the stairs. "Is he asleep?"

"Yes. Finally. The Tiny-Terror rests."

"Good. I found some documents on Erwin's childhood, mostly written by his father." She said as they went down they entered her office together.

"H-how did you get those?"

"I have my ways. Anyway, Erwin between the ages of newborn and nine years old displayed a concerning lack of empathy. These files," she handed a stack of paper over, "Hold his medical records until five years ago. Grisha Jaeger himself wrote these. You weren't there, but this morning Erwin threw his oatmeal at Mike, and laughed when he saw it upset him. Then proceeded to be labeled as "a little sociopath" by Mike. In which Erwin, adorably, said he wasn't because you were." Here, Hanji laughed, then sobered at Levi's stern face. "All mental instabilities aside- depression, panic disorder, PTSD, severe emotional trauma, severe physical trauma, asthma, low immunity, heart arrhythmia, anorexia followed by guilt binge eating followed by obsessive workouts, epilepsy, mild tourettes syndrome, sociopathic tendencies, hero complex too- nothing else seems to be concerning."

"So..." Levi's eyes widened the more he read Erwin's medical reports. It was a miracle he'd been allowed in the cadet sign up tent at all with the ongoing list of his health problems. "Is there something we can do? Babysitting him stopped being cute as of now."

"I don't know if my experiment will ever wear off. But in the occasion that it does I'm prepared with a question: have we brought Erwin to the present in his past form? or will he have to naturally age up again? In the case that he naturally ages up we have to be extra careful what is said to him and around him. Anything related to the titans, anything related to the military police, the government schemes, Eren Yeager's shifting abilities and Annie will become confidential. All future excursions beyond the walls will be put on hold. If he were to catch wind of anything that happens beyond this castle's place in the world it could shift the course of humanity forever. In conclusion..." Hanji pushed her glasses up her nose in a way she knew made Levi shiver. "We're screwed."
