WOLF'S BEST FRIEND
HENRY'S POV
Dark… Everything was dark. There was nothing around me just, darkness. I hear something behind me and as I turn around I find that I'm in one of the studios' many hallways. "What the hell?" I said starting to become uncomfortable.
The hallway was cold and seemed to have lost some of its normal warm yellow, now taking on more of a greyish color. I slowly walked down it wondering how this was possible, I thought I was safe, with Boris right? If so then how, just HOW did I get back here!? I kept moving forward, sometimes taking a turn here and there only to find more hallway. Everything was relatively fine until I realized something.
I looked around frantically, only stopping once I had confirmed my suspicion. It was quiet… nothing, not even the faint sound of mechanical gears shifting behind the walls that's always present no matter where you are in the studio. Everything was just silent. Now I knew that something was horribly wrong. Where am I! I'm not in the studio, just something that looks like it? I started to panic as dread started to sink in, though I didn't have much time until I heard a loud creak behind me.
I slowly turned around and was then petrified in horror as I saw what made the sound. There at the end of the hall, was the Ink Demon… It twitched and writhed and I could make out the sound of cracking coming from it. It let out a gargled scream as it launched into a full sprint right at me. I couldn't move, I was too scared. I just started screaming my lungs out and as it got within striking distance I closed my eyes and braced myself for my death, but all I heard was a deep voice "You can't hide forever".
I woke up with a start, 'A dream? No, more like a nightmare.' I thought as I put my head in my hands. I felt terrible, I was shaking and covered in sweat, needless to say I didn't look good. I went to take a warm shower in the hopes it would make me feel better but even after I just couldn't shake the feeling of dread, like something coming to get me. I looked in the mirror to get a better look at my current state. I looked pale, like I had seen a ghost, my hands were still shaking though it wasn't as severe as before it was still noticeable. I still felt tired but I was not about to go back to sleep so I decided to go and find Boris, hopefully he doesn't notice my condition.
BORIS'S POV
I was at the stove making some bacon soup for myself and Henry. I looked at the Bendy clock I found while scavenging around the studio a while back to see it read 8:23 AM. My wound was feeling much better after a day or two of rest and I think I'm ready to start going out again. I started thinking about Henry, he's a bit weird but I guess that's not really out there for someone who once worked here. I knew what this place was and what I am, after all once you've spent some time around here you figure it out one way or another. This is an animation studio and I am an animated character, somehow brought to life and now I'm stuck here like everything else down here. Henry though, he was an animator here before he left for reasons I don't know yet, I'll have to ask him sometime because all he said was that he didn't like the way things were being managed, but is that all of it? Probably not.
Henry was a nice guy. He's the first human I've ever met so I don't really have a frame of reference on them but compared to everything else that walks around here he's a welcome change of pace. I thought he was timid when I first met him and for the most part he is until you get hurt I guess. He also knows how to clean the house, I've never seen this place look so good, I can still see my face in the dishes.
I was pulled out of my thoughts as I heard Henry enter the living room. "Good morni-" I paused when I turned around to see him shuffling through the doorway, he didn't look good, his clothes looked ruffled and his hair was messy, if I had to guess I would say he looked sick. He gave me a weak smile and a "H-hi Boris good morning" before making his way over to the couch. Regaining my composure I greeted "Good morning Henry have a nice sleep?" I set two bowls of bacon soup on the coffee table in front of the couch as I took a seat on the opposite side.
As I looked at Henry he was quiet for a moment before slowly starting to eat, "Y-yeah it was alright, thank you for letting me use your bed again." he said taking his first bite.
"No problem, can't have a guest sleeping on the couch." I replied, now starting to dig into my own bowl.
"Is your wound getting any better?" He asked halfway through his soup
"Yeah it actually seems to be almost completely healed. I think I'll be good to go out to scavenge today." I say with an excited smile.
"NO!" Henry yelled, startling me enough to make me drop my spoon.
Henry must not have meant to say that because he immediately tried to cover it up."I-i mean are you sure? Maybe you should hold off until you're completely healed just to be safe." He said now refusing to make eye contact with me.
"No I'm good to go, besides I need to find some new stuff to tinker with." I said, trying to change the subject and it seemed to work.
"Tinker? Y-you know machines?" He seemed surprised, despite me having tools around the safehouse and little trinkets that I had built with parts I found while scavenging around the studio. He must have thought I found them and brought them home with me.
"Yeah, I like to make stuff with parts I find. I can show you some of them sometimes if you wanna see." I've never really had someone to show my inventions to, it would be nice to see what someone else thinks about them.
Henry seemed to perk up at this looking better then I had seen him look all morning. "I would love to. I'm not much of an engineer so I may not be able to appreciate the mechanical complexities as much as someone more experienced would but if you're willing to still show me I would really like that." He said, his face now taking on a kind smile, he looks kinda cute when he's happy and I could get used to that smile.
We sat there for a moment just staring at each other until we both realized what we were doing and started scrambling to be anywhere but here.
"Oh it looks like we finished our food. I'll just go put these in the sink" I said quickly taking both the now empty bowls in my hands only to have them taken from me by Henry.
"No need I-I'll take them and start on the dishes for you. I did promise I would do most of the chores in return for letting me stay here." He said, frantically starting to wash the two bowls.
"Right right I'll just go and scavenge for some new stuff and maybe some more food so I'll cya later." I said quickly, grabbing my wrench and backpack as I made my way to the front door.
Closing the door to the safehouse behind me I let out a deep breath. "What the heck was that?" I said before I started my trek into the studio once again. 'Maybe finding some new toys will take my mind off this.'
